This is a project I've been working on for a friend whose done a short movie. I'm also learning AM as I go so this is my first model in this program and I find the modeling somewhat different from what I'm used to but kind of like it. I have prior experience in other programs.

Working on the objects for an animation I want to do for fun, here is the main character so far. Still need to make em better looking without getting too realistic. Comments always helpful.

Had to make this for a job I'm working on, photography of the object didn't give me the flexibility of composing it over other photos and renders so now I atleast have an alpha to use to make the shots go easier textures were done in paintshop pro and the model was done mostly with decals and the frame painted in 3d paint.

This is a character for yep you guessed it...a personal project that will take me the rest of my lifetime to finish. This is the second attempt at a human head I have made (the first was lost due to computer crash and having no burner). Hasn't been textured or anything (except a bump effect to sit in for the fleshy vibe). Due to the quality of the jpg I have just realized there is slight banding on the profile please disregard as this is not on the TGA. Thanks. Critique away. J p.s. the main reason for this post is because I usually make a vow on art forums NOT to critique someone elses work until I post something for others to critique of mine. …

Ok, I did a quick little "no!" with the boy character. I still need to do smartskin on the suspenders and sides. You can see the artifacting more on the hair here, it almost seems like cross hatch work.....hmmmmm. www.hennesproductions.com/max_no.mov Bill

Hello, I've made a few sets for an animation project, and since this is my first time doing this kind of thing, I would like to get feedback (suggestions, stuff you like, stuff you hate). Anything will help. Thank you very much. p.s. the two city areas are supposed to be lit like it would be sunset...if they don't look that way, please inform me of my error. Also, the other images are from inside the mech.

Hey guys. I've finished with a one-eyed alien guy. I have a question about decals though...how come black won't show up in decals? is there a way to disable this? It wasn't a problem in this model, but in the future I know it will be...I'm saving the decals as a Jpeg. Do you think that's why? I also am pretty much finished rigging this guy...though I have a couple of questions about that that i'll ask later. Keep your eyes open for some animations

This has been lying around for some time. Newbert posted his, so I thought I'd post it. The stripe down the middle is a decal error that I never took the time to fix. If you look closely, I modeling all of the details into the blade (indentations, curves, etc.). I'm trying to make a bunch of good models for a free model site...

Hi, The Battleship model needed to be 'special' and I’m not the best at creating neat space ships so the sketch below and model are loosely based on a ship I saw a while back in either Doom or Quake (great sources for that kind of thing). After the screen test I could see some of the texturing needed work but I wanted to get it out for comments. [attachmentid=18013] Concept sketch (scribble) Screen test. http://www.virtualmediastudios.com/battleship.avi The bridge could use more lighting – can’t see all the cool consoles. The patch count is enormous; this is 4 models assembled in the chor... something I learned from C-Wheeler (thanks!). Che…

Here are links to the full res and reduced res versions of the logo intro animation... The Text and Fonts selected for the intro are temporary and we are deciding what the final font will be, but we are excited with the outcome of the winged skull. Hubukai (John Hubickey) rendered this monster out at full res (3 full days of rendering) and created the video files and is hosting the files! Without him there would be no Dark Skull Productions! Hi all, I've been pecking away for a bit, and came up with this. Please c&c about it. I'm interested in hearing about the shoulders and hips-are they workable? I've thought about stitching a spline across the chest into the deltoids to help definition, also one on either side of the center line to better define the abs. I 'm modeling him bald so I could use the hair feature, but I'm thinking of adding 'hanks' of conical hair splines for a simpler, toonier look. Some of the included models in AM seem to have these hanks 'stuck in' any wich way-this animates/renders OK? Thanks in advance for your help. Ww (Brian)

just mindlessly messing around with a couple hair systems. Painted a bush sprite and a grass sprite real quick, just to get them in there and get a feel for what might be possible down the line. Obviously you'd want a lot more variety in the images if you were doing something more serious.

I had made a request a few days ago if someone could create a film canister for me. I wanted to create a logo for a program I write. Well, PixelPlucker created one for me: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40098 So i have to give him credit for 90% of the modeling. I did modify a few thing on the roll and mapped a couple of decal. This is what I have right now. It is still not the finished product. I have not used Hash in the past 7 years so I need to relearn quite a few thing. A lot different than Journeyman on my amiga in 1990 !!! Pierre

Hi folks: Been trying to model this cartoon sea turtle, but I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing. I bought the "Model a face" video from Anzovin, and I have to say it is very good. However, I'm having a hard time adapting it to a cartoon character such as this one. Especially since this one doesn't have a nose. I'll appreciate any feedback. Thanks. front.jpg.zip

I know this is not that good, animation-wise, but I'm learning a lot about A:M by working on this. I build a scene, render it, change something, render it again, add some different materials, render it again, etc... and I'm trying to learn more about about compositing and all that that entails. So it's a good exercise for me. Here's the link to the film: http://www.irish-studios.com/F4andTieFighterMovie.wmv I thought I'd post this just for the heck of it. The audio needs a lot of work, especially the dialogue as it's almost indecipherable unless you know what it says. But if you're interested, the dialogue goes: "Houston, this is Su…

I am wondering how to make a camera's orientation follow the twisty curvy paths orientation like the one shown in the video, or more importantly, how to make a coaster car follow the orientation of the path. Making the camera or object follow the track is easy enough by making one of the pipes splines the path. Also, I was able to create two path constraints from the camera to the two outside rails which keeps it from moving into the mesh when the track twists and turns. I thought that would actually cause some weird circular constraint problem but it didn't. But I would like for the camera or for the coaster car to be oriented the same way as the track. In other wor…

Hello, been a while, I recently used A:M to build a mockup of a networking proposal for a presentation in my networking protocols class. This was kind of a last minute thing which is why it's so unfinished. I don't really have a use for it since I'm done with that class so I figured I'd let 'yall have it. Background info: I used the models to go transparent to show the placement of the networking cables in the walls, it got a wow out of the class and a "overachiever" comment from a peer. total construction time: 4 days. machines used: Powermac G5 A:M v15, Xeon PC A:M v14. download: Office ~2.1MB a few images:

Hello - I know there is a "particle system /hair" that can simulate curls however for a variety of reasons I am attempting to create curly hair using a different method. If you look at the attached image you will see a "simple straight object" and then you will see a "twisted version" of that straight object. If I was just going to create hair using the straight model, I could easily assign a color to the object and then use a transparency map to simulate strands. I can't really apply a transparency map to the twisted version so I figure I will need to assign a Material to the twisted object. The only problem is my skills are weak at creating a materi…

This little problem is proving to be a right headache... Have a look at the frame below and notice the rendering time for the anti-aliasing. Over one hour for pass1 and over two hours for pass2 - this seems rediculous considering the frame before only took 8 minutes! The scene is using particles and volumetric lights but why the sudden jump in render times from one frame to the other???

Actually, it's supposed to look like that... I went through Colin's tutorial, but I used front and side rotoscopes of two different women, one chinese, one japanese. (I wanted her to look asian, but of indeterminate origin). The only thing I'm not quite happy with is the ears, other than that this model went swimmingly. I'm still kind of new to A:M, I've had it for a couple of years, but I've been too wrapped up with a couple of other programs to learn, so I still have a lot to study, but I'm looking forward to it.

Greetings all! I've had A:M for a few years now, but I've never really had the opportunity to get into it as much as I'd like and never made much progress. So I figured I'd best start back at the beginning with the tutorials. I just finished Tutorial 4 and would like to hear some critiques. Please bear in mind that this is the first thing I've ever animated. Previously, I've just played around with modeling a little bit, and not very well at that. All the manipulations were done primarily by adjusting the CP's and a few timing adjustments were made by stretching/compressing or moving splines around in the timeline window. I'm assuming it gets a lot easier when …

I've been working on a three minute short for our booth at a trade show next week. My attempts at rendering have all failed, both rendering a QT movie and Targa files. I'm open to suggestions at least in theory but time is extremely short. I'm going to set up a render to an .avi file and let it run overnight. Tomorrow morning I'll know if it's been successful. But I need a backup plan. My back is seriously to the wall and if anyone with rendering facilities can help out a fellow hasher in his time of need, this is the time! I'm flying out of Charlotte NC Sunday night the 11th but I need to have it in time to finish up the sound. It's now 10pm Tuesday i…

I've been fooling around with several cloud images on a hair material, basically trying to create a face model made of billowy, cloudy material. I have been rendering both in the modeling window and in a choreography and keep getting black "sooty" coloring along with some clouds. I have the transparency of my model set to 100%, so the only thing rendering is the hair material. I've messed around with properties til I've run out of ideas. Can someone point me in the direction to achieve what I trying for? Thanks.

If you're curious, read along in the thread under "Animation Master: General Discussion" (I guess) ************************* hi gang. for someone who hadn't touched A:M in a bit, I don't think I'm doing too bad. Here's some of what I've tried my hand at so far. The helmet was first, in keeping with the request for it and for hats (first of many I hope) Then there's the night goggles to go with it. I started them but have to detail it all and get the head straps just right (can you tell I've had to wear them in the desert before?) Then there's the toaster. I started making the classic Sears model, all curved and pretty and all... ...but then I realize…

Just an image I've been working on with MJL. Somehow, I don't think I would win against this lady The Nimmee Aimee model was modeled by Jim Talbot for our very own "Tin Woodman of Oz" movie. I made a few adjustments, but it is still Nimmee. edit: I believe she was rigged by mtpeak2 and possibly textured by NancyGormezano, but I'm not sure about that. Anyway, Nimmee was truly a community effort.

Hey Forum! Thanks for the kind words... I am attaching the 'final' version of the movie from earlier and another one I did quick on the side. Both are actually tests to use action blending, which for the most part works pretty cool, with a minimal of hitches. I think I stumbled upon a 'bug' or 'limitation' whereas when using v11 hair with dynamics'on' that any 'dynamic-constraints' do not appear at render time, like the program is only able to arithmaticly handle one, not both. I say that because I (naturally) put a bone in Miss D's 'chest area' with a dynamic constraint to add a 'jiggle' factor... and in my chor I can see it bouncing away REALLY nice...but when I re…
