Nothing really fancy, just blocking out some animation and figuring out lighting, textures, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbxnOFebxWc Here a little info: Still working on V9.5, still facial capture by hand (at least for the basic blocking of the animation), very basic materials. I hate the first scene (too "noisy") second one is pretty good, third is alright, fourth I just started and very rough and final is just a test. It really all is just a test at this point. I know I seem to jump around a bit from thing to thing, but modeling is what I emjoy and I'm always trying diffrent models. Here's my latest human head. I do believe it my best to date.

Coming into the last of animating the fish. This one [the big guy who eats everything] needs to have his mouth VERY wide open at the last instant. I have three seperate actions that move him. In each, his mouth moves a little. But when I go into Skeletal Mode at the very last, and drag his jaw down, that seems to over-ride all mouth action in all the actions. [ Everything else, like Fins and Tail were OK.] Fortunately, I could do an un-do and not much harm was done. But for the future, does any adjustment in the Choreography/Skeletal trump any Action?

I have actions set that go beyond the length of where I need the Chor Lengh to be. I set the length of Chor to 1:20:00 and that is fine while the project is opened and things render correctly. I have several items that move along a path. But then when I exit and restart, the Chor Length goes back to a very long time. I know what the issues is - it is resetting to the longest action in my project. I have 1000's of items that were dropped in ( TREES ). Each Tree was added as I found the camera angle to be exposing areas where I needed to see trees. I know what someone is going to say - go edit each tree / item and reduce the action line for each on…

This is a character for yep you guessed it...a personal project that will take me the rest of my lifetime to finish. This is the second attempt at a human head I have made (the first was lost due to computer crash and having no burner). Hasn't been textured or anything (except a bump effect to sit in for the fleshy vibe). Due to the quality of the jpg I have just realized there is slight banding on the profile please disregard as this is not on the TGA. Thanks. Critique away. I am experiencing unexpected results from my fire emitter. It appears as if their is a force in the "Z" direction, when in fact their is none defined in the chor. Below are views of what is happening. As you can see, the flames don't just float up, the also float towards the +z direction as well. I include my project file. Can anybody explain to me what is going on and how to fix it? I can't figure it out. I am using v12.0s for Windows with this one. In the project, Chor1 has a force in it, a cyclinder shape, but it shouldn't be affecting anything on the troll. Chor2 is a copy of chor1, without the force in it. Problems occur in both chors. Haven't played with expressions for awhile so here is a rough Idea a pose slider controls pointer at left and the rotation of the pointer controls the speed of rotation of the blade on the right roughly [attachmentid=13146] there is some glitches as the speed changes will have to look at that then post the project sped.mov

I am wondering how to make a camera's orientation follow the twisty curvy paths orientation like the one shown in the video, or more importantly, how to make a coaster car follow the orientation of the path. Making the camera or object follow the track is easy enough by making one of the pipes splines the path. Also, I was able to create two path constraints from the camera to the two outside rails which keeps it from moving into the mesh when the track twists and turns. I thought that would actually cause some weird circular constraint problem but it didn't. But I would like for the camera or for the coaster car to be oriented the same way as the track. I had to leave on a business trip this past Friday and just came back. When I left, AM was running perfectly on my desktop. Upon turning my desktop on just now, I was very surprised to find that my WIP chor, which had no issues last Friday, now looks like all lights are down to about 10%, almost black. Naturally the values in the PWS have not changed, but the chor is almost black nonetheless. Thinking this might be a corrupt project file, I loaded a completely different project from a few weeks ago. The chor in that project also had the same problem, almost black. I'm attaching a zip file with a sprite material, a flame targa image, a simple model and a chor. I've been working on this fire material and finally got it to look decent, when it just quit rendering! I can see the sprite outlines in wireframe mode, I can see the sprites in shaded mode, can see them in the chor in shaded mode, they spew out on cue, but they will not render. I'm stumped, I know it's a simple one. FireMaterialTest.zip

I'm working on a toon walk cycle. I have motion blur set, but it seems to be coming out strangely. Is MB not possible in toon? Here's what it's doing: I've since turned off motion blur and it's still happening. I don't know why it's happening now.

just mindlessly messing around with a couple hair systems. Painted a bush sprite and a grass sprite real quick, just to get them in there and get a feel for what might be possible down the line. Obviously you'd want a lot more variety in the images if you were doing something more serious.

The local DJ's remarked how they hated one of the renderings of their faces on their homepage, so I figured I'd try and recreate 'em in 3D... For those who know what they look like, I think Todd didn't come out all that bad, despite the fact the colors are all off. Not much I can do about that since I'm color blind . Here's a quick preview of a 12-mat shoji-screened room I was playing around with over the holidays. This will be a part of a larger temple building and I built this sample room to test render times and material effects. Hi All Froggy Boxing will be done very soon. I wanted to post this little teaser movie to get you interested. The modeling and texturing and animation was done in a:m. It should be any day now. Level Design Dreams is just doing a few more things with the programming for me. And what can you do to avoid it? I've noticed that in a lot of models that I build, I am getting these problems and I am not sure what I could be doing better to avoid it. I don't think I am doing anything strange as I am building these models, but maybe there is something that I am doing that I am not realizing. Seems to me like I'd have to do a screen capture of one of my work sessions for anyone to be able to tell where I am screwing up. I am probably going to try and do the giraffe tutorial, maybe that will shed some light, however----I was making good progress and would possibly like to have a finished dragon model at the end of the day. help........ …

This is a project I'm working on... http://www.expropaganda.se/Animations/Hit_...Can_Trailer.mov I plan to animate the whole fight, and hopefully add a room for them to fight in. I choose this approach, because I'm doing this as an animation exercise for myself, and thought that if I add the room from the start, I might get bogged done in details... So fight first, then room, lighting, etc. I have no idea if it can be put together in that order, but I suppose it willl be interesting finding out Any thoughs are welcome. MagnusC

Hey everyone, I'm pretty sure I haven't posted this before. (sorry if I have) Anyway, I completed a demo reel some time this summer. I was trying to get my foot in the door in animation, mostly I was targeting game shops. Never really got much response but I think a lot of that had to do with not having a broad enough application range (didn't want to uproot my wife) Swing by my site and check it out. Hello, I've made a few sets for an animation project, and since this is my first time doing this kind of thing, I would like to get feedback (suggestions, stuff you like, stuff you hate). This is a animation for my students, I teach 4th grade. We learn about transportation in social studies (Michigan Studies) so I created an animation to show how railroad tracks go together. I'm hoping to add more detail and more content to different animations as time goes on. This was my main reason buying AM, when I saw the program at a technology conference, I wanted to use it to help teach my students. I have to add sound and a voice over. Hey all. I finished this T-shirt design for the Genre Evolution Project's research team. The colors and all are much higher definition than we'll need, I'm sure, but this render is a real beaut and will serve as a guide.
