This is a project I've been working on for a friend whose done a short movie. I'm also learning AM as I go so this is my first model in this program and I find the modeling somewhat different from what I'm used to but kind of like it. I have prior experience in other programs.

Hello to all, I´ve started a new project where I´ll have a robotic character with an organic mask for a face. I´ve working hard for the last week and here´s what I´ve got, I´d really appreciate some critiques. Thanx already! PS. has anyone noticed how OpenGL is WAY better for displaying wireframes?

This is my first attempt at a humanoid model. It's intended for a training video. My rationale for creating a crystalline skater was to make the lines and outline as clearly visible as possible (I also thought it would be easier. I don't think it was. I'll have to model a realistic character to know for sure.) He'll eventually have hands, eye balls, and ears (I hope.) I'm posting him as is because I have several specific concerns, but I would appreciate any and all comments and suggestions. 1) I wanted him to be interesting and well defined, but not too distracting or grotesque. What's your initial impression; is he just too weird? 2) I've inclu…

Hi guys... just wanted to show something off which I and a friend (S. Rosenblatt) made with very short deathline (so some of the animations arent very good) for my UAS with A:M. It is a LiveAction + CG Video. It is about 20 MB in size and compressed with Divx 5 and WinRar. Enjoy: - Download - *Fuchur*

Well, well, I have been rereading the walks section of the "Animator Survival Kit", and I wanted to make a cycle that no appear in the book, I wanted to "create" a cycle, from my imagination. Then I remembered the Insect Model and immediately come to my head the image of Hopper (the grasshopper of "A Bug's Life"). And I sit in front my computer to make a cycle of this kind, and the result is....................... Front View Perspective view P.D: Please select with the right button and "save target as..." Hey everyone, I'm pretty sure I haven't posted this before. (sorry if I have) Anyway, I completed a demo reel some time this summer. I was trying to get my foot in the door in animation, mostly I was targeting game shops. Never really got much response but I think a lot of that had to do with not having a broad enough application range (didn't want to uproot my wife) Swing by my site and check it out. All CG animation is done with A:M. The reel is also broken down into the individual clips for the bandwidth challenged Direct Link 6MG MPG -Alonso

I was creating a ship awhile ago (the "Squid ship")..I hadn't finished texturing it or touching up the actions..but check this out...it's supposed to be a spaceship acting as a squid! Squid Push Note: to view you must right click>Save target As>save or Right click>Properties>Copy full address> Paste into address bar> hit go! What I did to achieve: I watch some vids of squids/octopuses and observed the movement and timing..I then took that information and put it into simpler terms (into a cartoony look ship)...If you notice, while the tentacles are going downward you see that they have a slight bend in them for the pressure of the wat…

This is a project I'm working on... http://www.expropaganda.se/Animations/Hit_...Can_Trailer.mov I plan to animate the whole fight, and hopefully add a room for them to fight in. I choose this approach, because I'm doing this as an animation exercise for myself, and thought that if I add the room from the start, I might get bogged done in details... So fight first, then room, lighting, etc. I have no idea if it can be put together in that order, but I suppose it willl be interesting finding out Any thoughs are welcome. MagnusC

just mindlessly messing around with a couple hair systems. Painted a bush sprite and a grass sprite real quick, just to get them in there and get a feel for what might be possible down the line. Obviously you'd want a lot more variety in the images if you were doing something more serious.

This is approximately half of the music video that was made as comment on political process and ability of members of the parliament of my country... http://trajcedrv.mylivepage.com/file/?fileid=493 (You'll probably need to copy link and paste it in your browser to be able to download it) Unfortunately I didn't made it on time for the elections this year, and you'll probably miss the whole message... so what... had a few free evenings lately and put together a living room mostly of models i´ve made some time ago, tried to fake a radiosity feel, so it would be suitable for animation... this render in 1024x768 took about 50 minutes (16pass) on my 2 year old mac book pro, a vga resolution with 9 passes takes about 15 minutes. a lot of time goes into computing the reflections in the window, for a still it would be no problem to fake it with a decal, but for animation? the lighting setup was a mixture of bulb and klieglights as described in yves tutorial (but only one bulb with only one ray casting shadows for faster rendering), but i mixed it also with heiners skylighter (thanks for…

I have modeled every rivit on this upper structure with a small sphere. As the number of spheres increased, my copy/paste function slowed considerably. To get back some speed, I cut each sphere in half, which helped quite a bit by cuttin down on spline count. I received a suggestion that I might be able to achieve rivits with displacement maps? Take a look at my project and tell me if and how I could do this? It is important to be able to actually see raised rivits on the upper structure since close-up will be taken of it when finished. Thanks

Hello, I've made a few sets for an animation project, and since this is my first time doing this kind of thing, I would like to get feedback (suggestions, stuff you like, stuff you hate). Anything will help. Thank you very much. p.s. the two city areas are supposed to be lit like it would be sunset...if they don't look that way, please inform me of my error. Also, the other images are from inside the mech.

I've got a simple scene with a central object receiving reflections from a dome that has an HDRI image applied via a projection map. It renders very nicely, but I want to use an alpha channel to composite the object into another scene without the dome background. I tried tga output with the alpha channel enabled, but the resultant alpha is the whole tga, not just the central object. What am I missing here?

Hey gang, Thought I'd post this quick little job I did for the San Diego Future's Foundation upcoming fundraiser. The theme for the evening will be casino themed/Monte Carlo style. The money donated/raised goes to support the Futures Foundation, which takes old computers from corporations, refreshes them, installs new drives, OS, etc. then gives them to schools and families who can't afford computers. This image will be on their invitations. Greg

I was looking through some of my old comics & annuals, trying to decide if anything was suitable for my seven year old (none of it is). There was a pretty good schematic for Judge Dredd's bike, so I started on it. This is the MkI Lawmaster. The Mk2 has cannons. These are the ones from the 2000AD and Judge Dredd comics: the one in the Stallone film is just a disguised Harley, so it has relatively thin tyres. I don't recall the flying one in the film ever being in the comics, but they did start thirty years ago (God I'm old, now) so my memory may have failed me. There are some obvious faults, such as one of the tailpipes going through the rear wheel bodywork, …

Hello, We have been busy and I didn't want to post too many WIPs, but I have a few more for you. These clips are just tests to see how the models hold up for animation/rendering. Of course we are rendering everything in HD720, but a few things have to be rendered smaller for testing- (especially those containing multiple volumetric lights). Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that the purpose of these clips are to show the models in lighting. There is one lipsync in there that is incomplete, because I didn't really want to go into simulating the cloth(It's all about the face/the arms are STIFF). Thankyou! Click on the pic! I've decided to try to condense everything I've learned into one short film. I took some screenshots of the project so far. I'm not done with the planning the animation yet. I've been teaching myself how to draw so hopefully I've gotten better. I'm not done with modeling the human character, as that's probably my weakest point. Please tell me what you think so far and what I could do to make it better.

Hello - I know there is a "particle system /hair" that can simulate curls however for a variety of reasons I am attempting to create curly hair using a different method. If you look at the attached image you will see a "simple straight object" and then you will see a "twisted version" of that straight object. If I was just going to create hair using the straight model, I could easily assign a color to the object and then use a transparency map to simulate strands. I can't really apply a transparency map to the twisted version so I figure I will need to assign a Material to the twisted object. The only problem is my skills are weak at creating a materi…

My first attempt at making a face. I already know of many issues with it, but this is about two hours of effort just to get this. I've learned a lot from this exercise, mostly how splines work and 5 point patches. I'm off to sleep for tonight, tomorrow I'll work on doing a set of shoulders/torso, and maybe another face.

In this thread Robert showed me how I can generate an image suitable for normal decals. The image of a cylinder and sphere on a flat plane is his example. Note that the flat plane RGB value is 128, 128, 255. The image of a series of troughs in a flat plane is my first attempt. The problem is that the RGB value for the flat plane is now 112, 112, 255 which shows up as a difference in shading at the decal edge. So I started to debug this and I got an unexpected result. I moved the cylinder out of the field of view in Robert's example, re-rendered and the flat plane RGB is still 128,128,255 but when I put back the cylinder and moved the sphere, the flat plane is n…

Hello, I started a short film project called Gravity as a new years resolution back in January. I am now continuing the project in Hash from where I left off. I have a storyboard, a story reel, a character design, the actual character model, and the antagonist flying saucer. Neither the model nor the saucer have been converted yet, but I'm going to show them anyway. I'm still very new to Hash, so your crits will be very much appreciated.

Hi, I assembled all the footage (you know what I mean) done for the Spiral Slayer Book Trailer--mostly screen or concept tests--and put all three musical scores behind it. Also added credits--the 5 or 6 Hash artists who helped with the designs, modeling, texturing, etc. In truth it's long and boring, LOL, but perhaps not so much to other Hash animators. Its here! Remember, play it full screen and have your sound on. Also, very few scenes are finished product and no story is really told. Cheers, Rusty
