Hey- I've been really busy lately... Recent animation for a local Tire chain that sponsors the 'Grand Rapids (MI) Griffins' minor league hockey team. The animation will run on the scoreboard at center ice during intermissions. I had always wanted to do one of these types of cartoons, and had fun doing it. I'm always amazed at sporting events how these mindless cartoons get BIG audience response... I hope mine does. Sorry about the big files sizes. Each is 1 minute long and there are 3 outcomes, and all share a common 1st half. This project took one week to complete, as the main character was already modeled and rigged and I just needed to make 2 other versions o…

In trying to decide what colors i want to paint my room, I'm builing a full scale replica of it in A:M to see how each color choice will effect the rest of the room. So far all i have is the basic furniture and main structure built. I'm not sure if i want to go as far as modeling every little trinket i have on my computer desk or shelf, but I may just end up doing that for the fun of it. Matt built the bed for me, but i'm gunna try and make it not look so perfectly beveled, texture it, and give it a not so boxy pillow. anyways, here's the first render I've made so far.

Hi, this is kind of a repost because I finished "version 1" of this guy, and plus I uploaded the wrong movie before. Anyway here he is, the first thing I've made in A:M. Thanks to jamagica for the quick little eye tutorial, even going through that taught me a lot. My goal in having this guy is not so much to make him the perfect model, but to have something of my own to learn to animate with. I've learned a TON in just building this one character (many thanks to everyone BTW). There are certainly some rough areas - the feet for sure and parts of the legs. The eyes need some kind of brow or eyebrows. I think I'm going to add "floating" eyebrows - what do y…

Here is the project file for my Shaggy and Scooby. I couldn't include the chor because of the size of the file. Shaggy is rigged, but there is a problem with the contraints on one of the right hand fingers. No smartskin. SHaggy's hair isn't finished. There's a few basic bones in Scooby for the tail and ears. If anyone uses these just let me know what you used them for and post it here so we can all see it . These models were built quickly for the contest, so they are probably no good for animation. If someone does get a decent rig and animation with these guys let us know that too. I also did a quick toon render of them in the model window. I didn't …

In trying to learn modeling I gave myself the task of creating my Juno 60 synth in AM. The shadows are a little dark around the black keys in one of close ups, as I was trying to show of the glowy numbers. This was a fun build, not 100 percent accurate, but still pretty close. Learned a lot about decaling and using Illustrator, thanks for all the help from Vern and Robocat.

This is the opening short scene of a project I am working on, lasting 00:09:15 and I wondered if anyone could advise me on: Composition Lighting Framing I am trying for a more professional feel to my projects and would like to get some input from the "pros" but all are welcome to comment. Oh yeah....the wolf model is not finished yet, I know it needs work. More images can be seen here:- http://home.btconnect.com/FatclownFilms/videopage_2.htm

Do i use an action or smartskin to access the orient to contrainst? Thanks for any help... Here is my model he is a kid friendly demon that will eventually be a darker color but he will not have eyes or a mouth or fingers.

"Stolen Smells" is a children's book that was commissioned to be adapted into an A:M-animated short by the Anzovins. Using the same style of flat lighting as The Duel, it looks like they've managed to match the 2D look of the original book very closely, though the characters are fully animated models. Anyway, I've been looking forward to seeing this since I first read about it--it's always nice to see the different styles that A:M can be used for.

My "real" job has kept me from getting much done in A:M for some time now, but recently the situation has improved and I'm working more normal hours. I might even get back involved in TWO. This is something I did last year: Self Portrait Thread I still have some tweaks left and of course eyes instead of mere spheres...and teeth and gums and a tongue and throat and texturing and hair and rigging...and maybe even a body! Here is it's current state:

I have been thinking of starting a project over winter break. Of the ideas I had the idea to "3d-erize" my room won. I started so far by just modeling the main objects in my room: desk, shelves, dresser, bed. The bed right now is just a modified version of the bench from my piano project, It is just there to a be a deformer for the cloth system sheets I plan to put over it. 1 Light, radiosity about 2 hours 4x4pass Note- There is quite a bit of distortion from the 15mm perspective. Hey everybody, It's been awhile since I posted something new. I started working on a T. rex last year while i was unemployed, and then put it aside when I found work. I reexamined the model over the winter, I found it rather lacking by way of anatomical accuracy and effective rigging. So here's a brand new T. rex and a walk cycle to go along with it. Comments as always are welcome! T. rex walk cycle

I'm working on my first model of a human figure, that kind of thing. But I've run across a problem. Could anyone help me? Here's the problem: when I copy flip attatch the half of my face that I've got, it comes out with missing splines, patches, and cp's that make it look normal. Here are some pictures. Maybe you could help me based on those? CAPTION: half of face. 2nd Caption below: After copy flip attatch.

I made this card just for the hell of it. I wanted to try some front projection so I grabbed an older character of mine and used a family friends' picture and added the "Christmas" part. The funny thing is they liked it so much they are going to send it as an E-card, haha. I blurred out their face because I didn't really think they'd want everyone seeing them. Thanks for looking. Here's a 3-4th view in the chor too.

Hi guys, just wanted to show you a little bit of my latest A:M work... I started to model a audio-interface based on my new Roland VS-100. Most of the work was to create the texture for it. Comments are of course welcome . See you *Fuchur* PS: I although attached an image with the wireframe overlayed. As you can see, the geometry is really quite simple.

Just a quick post to let everyone know that a revised, large-screen version of my animation <ESC> is up on AMFilms. This is the one that won the IRTC for October 2003. I cleaned up some of the animation and fixed a bunch of textures. http://amfilms.hash.com/search/Entry.php?entry=786 Interestingly enough, I got an email from a guy who had independently come up with the same concept of an escape key escaping. He was kind enough to say that he had enjoyed my film. Although he's doing it in another application, I thought I'd post his proof of concept render. Zach

Just a quick screenshot of the model I'm currently working on...Tara. I'm working in 10.5 and this is the first time I've got to a point where I'm happy with the way a character model is progressing. This is about a week's worth of evenings work. However I wanted to get some feedback from A:M veterans at this point. Where do I need to focus my attention. BTW, ignore the far side of the face, I have been wroking on smoothing out the bumps in the near side only. So, for example, the bump in the eyelid is pretty much sorted in the near side of the model. All the textures are temporary. Apart from that, don't spare my feelings! -Mark.

Hello there, for those of you that have been following this in the main forum, here it is: there are some creasing problems around the legs, I tried to keep it to 4 pt patches but in a few spots I just couldn't do it. On a positive note, the creasing doesn't seem to be as visible in the final render.

Okay! The guys at Hash Inc. saved my model... but I was in the process of rebuilding anyway. So, here's the progress so far. [attachmentid=15509][attachmentid=15510] 1. The lighting's not right... But I've got to relearn a bit with the switch to v 12 from 11... apparently the lights are brighter now (the render doesn't indicate that until the render is complete and you click in the screen, then it gets washed out. 2. Decaling is accurate and maybe a bit much (higher res than needed). 3. I haven't aged it yet... this is what it looked like new. I've got a roto (but not from this angle) included here as a reference to compare against... (He…

Hello Everyone, This week i'm working on an extra credit school project using, you guessed it, Animation Master! This project is ment to teach my class about the properties of skin: How sweat is excreted, how nerve endings tell your brain what's happening, etc. I started the project but A:M crashed and I lost all my work. I didn't get that far anyway. So I had to restart. I could go on rambling but i'll post the first pic so you can tell me what you think. I'm trying to make a "forest" of nerves. I'm going to use the same model but alter it each time. This is a red nerve: Edit: Where is the show more than drivers button? How do you delete relations…

I have a choreography that at one time had a sound file in it (approx 1600 frames worth) I deleted the sound file from chor I deleted all keyframes from the chor - so that the only key frames are on frame 0 and frame 180ish I want to use this chor as a starting chor for subsequent chors as it contains starting models, camera, lights, render settings, etc. I add a new sound file (about 180 frames), change the starting chor length to be 180. I save this chor. When I restart A:M and bring this chor back into A:M, the chor length is still 1600? But there is no sound file, no keyframes past 180. I need to be able to save the chor length correctly in each…

Hi all, I'm trying to render a scene with some furry animals stampeding. In the initial test renders the fur goes crazy stretching beyond it's length and penetrating the kows's bodies. I've tried setting dynamic sample at various figures up to 2048 and all of the different dynamic types without success. Setting the dynamic type to none removes the hair stretching, but doesn't fix the hair penetrating the skin.....has anyone come up with a recipe for hair collision detection that works? I downloaded the hair tech talk which unfortunately is a comprehensive reference to everything but collision detection. [attachmentid=15598] stampede.mov

I was just wondering if I could get some constructive criticism on something I'm working on. The link is here (2.5MB) Oh, and if you're from any of the States mentioned and have a better idea for pictures to go on the projector, let me know that, too. I'm going for a sort of inside joke/stereotype thing. For example, for Michigan there's a hand, because we Michiganians will quite often point to a place on the right hand when asked where we're from (unless one is a Yooper). So, yeah. Looking forward to comments.

It's late and I'm tired so I'll get to the point. I'm trying to make this bug character that has an expressive face yet is still recognizable as a ground beetle. I made the face lighter so the facial features, and especially the mouth, were visible. I got the idea from studying A Bug's Life. Overall, I'm hapy with the results, but I would love some suggestions on how to make the face more expressive. I think I should make the mouth bigger, but should it have eyelids that blink and eyebrows? Any other comments or suggestions would be great. Here is the link: bug test
