I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this - I tried the new users area but no response. I'm trying to mimic Coopers tutorial. I started with the nose and rotoscopes as he did. I get the general concept but I'm really struggling with a few parts around the nostril. I realize some of this is just learn by trial and error but I could really use some suggestions, I've hit a brick wall on this. Here is a pic, note especially the arrowed areas, but the whole thing in general needs work.

I've started a short called Mean mr Mustard. It is about a guy who is obviously mean and doesn't have any friends, but he trie to become nicer. This is a picture of him. as you can see he is a Mustard bottle. Basicly every character in this film is a condiment. It's original.

Hi, I'm only charging this female comedian whose in England $200 to put together an intro to her prod cast (first time I ever charge and 'money' for animation work). I took this project mostly so I could track my time and see how my estimate stacked up to reality. Estimate 8 hours/work hours to date 21 and still much to do, LOL. Hey folks, I've been thinking of trying to sell new models in a set. I'm working on one now which will be "Street Objects Set I" (See the attachment). I know many consider it taboo to try and sell models when so many are offered for free but everyone needs to make money. A set like the one shown would sell for about $12.95. Do you think it's a fair price? Honest opinions please!

While the Hash Fellows attack the subject of variable toon lines from the high ground I thought I'd post some tests I've been working on here. The idea (for me) is to fake the variation of line thickness to achieve a line like that from a brush or pen. I've got some pretty satisfactory results with toon render but won't be able to post them for awhile. This very basic example uses Render as lines on object(s) with no patches. Hello all, I have been a little slow in getting this post out. I have been REALLY busy. Many of you do not know me. I am not really very good at AM! I grew up on Lightwave but have always been amazed at the power and capabilities of AM since version 3, my first version. I saw it at SIGGRAPH but when I got home with it and tried to use it, I wanted to kill everyone! Needless to say documentation has been lacking for a while now! Anyway, I tried again at version 5. My friend and I are totally lazy and we both know it. So we put together a weekly challenge for ourselves. I have to do so many seconds of animation per week, he has to draw 3 full-size comic pages a week for his webcomic. Due mondays, losers buy lunch. Here's what I've got after week one, I'll update each week. Hi all. Looking for some CC&C (constructive comments and criticism) on the following: Sorenson Video 2, 33 seconds, 1.2 MB, 480x204 The lunar module was graciously donated by Vernon Zehr from his private collection; all the rest is mine. The texturing for Neil Armstrong isn't done yet. Mostly I'm looking for thoughts on the movement. I'm trying to keep in mind that gravity is one-tenth of normal, but his amount of mass (inertia) remains the same, so he still has a good amount of squash and stretch even as he falls slower. Anyway, I seem to be at a point where it's OK, but not quite right, and I humbly ask for your thoughts. Thanks! Zach

Ok, let me get this straight. We are supposed to think in three dimensions, learn to model, apply hair, texture, decal, bone, rig, animate, operate a camera, set up lighting, learn the physics of photon mapping. Then every year a new version comes out with features we have to figure out all over again. It sounds like fun. Anyway here is my latest attempt at making a realistic face.

hi @ all, here are some screenshots, renderings and a short qt-movie from the actual project i´m working on. please tell me what you think about the characters, lightning, etc, i´m sure you can find some critical points i haven´t thought of yet. i have a few questions: 1. the forces setting: i want to have a slow breeze flowing through the grass and the tree... the movie is my very first attempt with forces, i know it´s much much too fast etc... but i was wondering if anyone of you could give ma advice about the settings on the force and the hair-materials. sure, i could figure it out by try and error, but maybe some of you guys figured some good settings…

Back in 2004 I got an "Employee of the Month " award which took the form of a small gargoyle sculpture. I thought it would be a fun A:M modeling exercise so i began splining it out but hit a few road blocks and put it aside. The plan was that the recipient would get to have it on their desk for a month and then the next month's awardee would take it over but by the time I got laid off six months later no one else had done anything anyone wanted to talk about so I still have the trophy. Now I have some time, I think I'll try to finish it and see if I can rig him, possibly without straightening him into a T-pose.

Hello, As hard as I've tried to come to terms with human body proportions (how long is the upper arm, lower arm, hand, upper leg, etc) I seem to still have issues! During the last stress test of model shown below I realized that things were not right so I placed it next to proper body proportions document (below). Before I start scaling body parts this way and that way I wanted to get any feedback I could get from the forum. Also, for me, rigging starts with a 'guess' as to where the 'Body' bone goes (that's the bone that sticks out of the butt facing back wards). This is the pivot point of the legs and I'm never sure where it actually should be. …

Well This was my quick test to get a feel for A:M. No decals or stuff like that. I just wanted to play with the modeller. Learn how to join parts together etc. I know the edges around the eyes are too harsh but its a learning experience. I know now what not to do etc lol. So I'm working on a science fiction comic book and I can't think of a good name for the lead character. He's a member of the S.T.A.R. Force (Special Tactics Armored Rangers), and I'd like something with a old fashioned pulp sound to it like Flash Gordon, but I'm stumped. Any ideas? Here he is after running him thru the comic book render that I'm planning on using.

Attached loop of a car I am working on for CrimeBomb... I am looking for a Hasher named Charles Cronley. About a year ago Charles and I traded CAD data for Mustangs, I finally took a look at his dense 'paint-only' mesh and decided it was a perfect test for the DISTORTION BOX tool and this is what I have come up with. Hello, I know the title may seem odd, but I think you'll get the joke by the time I finish this post. Being hard-headed and a bit stubborn, I decided to jump ahead in the curriculm and get the modeling basic of the program down so that I could start building the model I wanted. I have gone through the first three lessons, and skipped straight to models. I read through the plane one, then used what I read to start inputing my own model. Hey Gang, After seeing all the Awesome stuff that Yves started on his Radiosity threads, I decided to mess around with a scene that I am working on. This is just the beginning, playing with the settings. I am certain that if I spend more time, I can get a better effect. I have 8 lights setup as Yves suggested (Cone Angle 180 degrees, 100% Width Softness) One exception is that the falloff doesn't touch any of the objects in the scene, except for the walls. I tried to move the lights closer together, but then the light was too concentrated in one spot. Should I be using more lights with smaller falloff?? I don't like the fact that the 55 gallon …

Been trying to improve my Splinemanship as of late. Looking for suggestions or major "no-nos" I did on this model. I have alot of hard lines(creases) I can't seem to get rid of. I'm concerned with the breast area(that's where I see the most issues).

This is a continuation of a topic started here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18978 Below is an Image of my model to which I applied a bump decal with straight lines which render with jags. The decal is un-edited in the UV editor. No points were dragged or the model flattened. Any ideas on how to fix this? or a better approach to straight lines? Pixmite P.S. Vernon - I think you were right about the optical illusion. I rendered it from another couple of angles and it looked correct. I was late, what can I say.

HOORAH! I'VE ALMOST FINISHED MY FIRST EVER CHARACTER CREATED COMPLETELY BY ME! Surprising considering how long I've been modeling, eh? I never really tried to model any characters because I was scared. Now I am not! Tell me what you think, but try not to ruin my good mood too badly. He's a bank robber for a short my friend wanted me to make. NOTE: It's kind of hard to see the bump map on his hood, (that has the lines like in a ski mask) but they're there and will be visible in close-ups (i hope).

I finished my GoldSmith beetle model, textured it, rigged it and put it it into a scene. And the render was so stink'n cool (Or atleast that's what I think) I put it up for you guy's to feast your eyes on. I mean if I didn't know for sure that I would break my nose and anything else possible to brake doing a back-flip, I would be doing them all around the room right now. Tell me what you think. I wnat to here your comments and crits. But know that changes won't take place, because now that I'm done with this render I'm moving on to other projects. P.S. This scene was done using one light and no radiosity. Yeah, I can't figure it out either.

Here is a character is that I've been working on for a tiny short. Its a very simple character but I've been using it to try to learn to model and use the hair system. Over the course of the next few days/weeks, I'm hoping to tweak the model some, add a basic skeleton and set of controls, and possibly do an animation test or two in this thread.
