Hello- Does anyone know how to create a kaleidsocope image, through rendering (or otherwise) ? Something similar to the attached jpg? I was hoping there was some sort of AM render effect that might work, or something that would at least create part of a kaleidoscope section....... that could then be x flipped. I was looking at my After Effects filters and they have something which says it creates kaleidoscopes but is more a "Tiling" sort of thing that looks cheesy anyway. Thanks for any suggestions! Tom

Just threw a bunch of old, half finished models into a choreography and added some paths. All very rough and simple. Just a run cycle on a path. No bending into corners, no interesting antics, no nothin'... just a run cycle for the moment. Oh. It's only 320 x 240 and all hair/grass/foliage was turned off to get a fairly quick test render with just one pass.

I was checking out nimblepix previous avatar a while ago and came up with this walk cycle. There isnt any movement in the hips or shoulders, the knees go up to high, and the steps are slow (I noticed this after it rendered out) but I like it better than my first one. walkc2.mov I also decided to upload model that I wont be using. It was made in version 11 and modified in 14, I am now using the latest version so I dont know what it works in. ZEKE.MDL

Everyone has seen Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi right? Well you know the Imperial Biker Scout- the Imperial dudes that ride the speeder bikes. I have modeled everything except the helmet- I've tried to model it for the past 2 to 3 weeks and it never looks right. Could anyone model one up for me for Animation Master 11.1 (A:M 2005) please? This would be a great help. The animation I am doing will require the Biker Scout, so if anyone would offer any help I would greatly appreciate it!

I've decided to try to condense everything I've learned into one short film. I took some screenshots of the project so far. I'm not done with the planning the animation yet. I've been teaching myself how to draw so hopefully I've gotten better. I'm not done with modeling the human character, as that's probably my weakest point. Please tell me what you think so far and what I could do to make it better.

I have created a new little character mainly for the purpose of practicing rigging and animating. i am going to make a music video eventually with this guy using the song Tonto, Jump On It! but i am still rigging him right now. i have used the 2001 Skeletal rig and i still have a little touching up to do for some small points that are a little out of place. but its the best i have done. i never have rigged a human before. nor made one. i need to know how to use the target things. the cubes for like the feet targets and the hip/pelvis cube mover. if i could rig these it would make my animating alot smoother and easier. so if someone could point me in t…

As per Vern's request, this was one of the May Mechanical Contest entries. (I actually entered two, this Rebel and the Lamborghinni Gallardo). And as with Eric's entry, this is still a WIP. I had been doing a WIP thread on this already, showing the progress of the model. The Gallardo was the model I created mainly for this contest. Never even thought about entering the Rebel until someone in the WIP thread asked if I was going to enter it. I hastily tried to complete the model, but didn't succeed very well. There are a lot of things on the Rebel that I am not really happy with, and will be redoing them properly. Anyway, here are some larger, higher resolut…

I did a test today that turned-out quite nicely with BIG help from our friend, Newton Dynamics... (attached 4mb QT) Basically, I made a 'beer-bong' (a funnel on top and a long tube) and set about 50 lathed 'Platelets' above it, set the gravity to -5%... and simulated! Afterwards, I wanted the animation to be slower and smoother- so I 'group-grabbed' all the simulated keyframes from the 50 Platelets and spread them out... I used a SYMBIONT material called 'Plush' to texture the platelet and the vein. The client wanted this to be a 'medical-meets-anime' look, so I toon-rendered and regular rendered and combined the 2 in After Effects. For a quick half-day test, n…

Okay, I did my VERY FIRST AO RENDER! Woohoo! Straight out of the box. It isn't fantastic but i get the idea. Now I want to know what the next level is. How would I for instance, use some kind of image for reflection? Is this delving into the HDRI concept? Radiosity? AO renders SO FAST, I don't want to get too complicated. Can I use just a simple dome with an image? Anyway, this sample image is from my ongoing animated short spoofing the terminator (not much activity in Vern's World so this is a tease looking for some help on AO. The link to this thread is in my signature) Just for grins I stripped out the lights, added a ground and back plane and just rendered i…

Hi guys I'm having a break from mechanical modeling. This time I'm modeling a dinosaur, something I've always wanted to do. I got the mesh made, but is going to do some detail (especially on his head) and proportion tweaking. Let me know what you think so far btw, is there a premade rig (like the 2001 rig) that will fit this little monster?

I'm am trying to create a cloud that resembles a cartoonish human face. I've attached a model with a sort of 'bubble-wrap' look and would like to know if there is a way to quickly give a nice a rounded shape to the whole model to which I can then manipulate points to define facial characteristics. I'm open to all suggestions, included starting from scratch with another approach to accomplish the same thing. Thanks. Clouds.mdl

Stian, I followed your tutotrial on putting a model and image based lighting together as described in your Ecto thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...hl=ghostbusters The problem I am having has been narrowed down to the Global Ambiance Type in the Chor settings. When I set that to Image based Lighting while using a Dosh Designs Light Probe image, I get an image saturated with bright blue - see image. I've changed to another Light Probe image with the same results. The other settings are as per your tutorial - Ambiance intensity 100%, Ambiance occlusion 100%, mapping type - Light Probe, Exposure - 0, Azimuth - 0. All lights are off with the ground m…

Hello, As hard as I've tried to come to terms with human body proportions (how long is the upper arm, lower arm, hand, upper leg, etc) I seem to still have issues! During the last stress test of model shown below I realized that things were not right so I placed it next to proper body proportions document (below). Before I start scaling body parts this way and that way I wanted to get any feedback I could get from the forum. Also, for me, rigging starts with a 'guess' as to where the 'Body' bone goes (that's the bone that sticks out of the butt facing back wards). This is the pivot point of the legs and I'm never sure where it actually should be. …

Downloaded the Iccarus software which analyzes video and re-creates a camera tracking solution which can then be imported into A:M. The video clip is from the Iccarus tutorials. I followed along with the documentation to create the tracking solution and exported the track into an A:M v9.5 project. The project loaded just fine into A:M 13. Then took Shaggy and added him to the chor and had hip skip merrily through the scene. For a first shot at doing this, I think it turned out fairly well (as far as the camera tracking goes). I know the lighting does not match the scene and Shaggy is too crisp and sharp compared to the video, but it was just a test. C&a…

I just recently bought a 2004 Honda Rebel 250 motorcycle. Sold my Yamaha Vino 125 scooter and am now riding the Rebel. I started modelling the bike for three reasons. The first, is that I am learning how the darned thing is actually put together. The second is that come the winter months, I want to repaint it to make it more visible and distinctive. I also want to try any modifications to the bike first on a 3D model before implementing it on the real thing. So, I am modelling it from the ground up, which is satisfying the first reason for modelling the bike. The 34 Ford I was working on is going to have to wait a while until this project is done. C&am…

Howdy All' So I'm working on a project where I need to simulate sand pouring out into a heap on the ground. Do any of you have a good suggestion as to how best to approach this in Hash? It doesn't necessarily have to look ultra realistic. But the more real the better. Any suggestions. I though of using a combination of dust, animated mesh and particles somehow. But I'm not sure how easy that would be. Is it possible to thicken and texture the fluid system in hash to serve this purpose?

I hereby debut a vague, confusing, fragment of a tale in the process of creating itself. [albeit snippets have slipped out here and there]. The main character [bipedal and arthropoidal] is "EL Cucaracha". [Grammer, spelling and emphasis in the original]...a James Bond-style freebooter, now in the process of fleeing for his life, for reasons unknown, though those reasons are no doubt good ones. It's the confluence two idle, non-related thoughts suddenly recognizing each other. One: 'el bog' himself was the product of pushing elements around with no particular goal in mind, and, Two: what the world really needs is a locomotive that can run on a single wheel, a 'razor-r…

ok, i got a big big problem here, deadline is in 2 days... i have this shot i need to render in high quality, at least 2000x1500 px.... the soccerfields grass is a hair system, color driven by a decal. when i rendered it in vga-resolution for a test with low hair-density (5%) everything looked fine, but when i increase the density parts of the hairsystem renders white, not green anymore... the higher the density-value, the more parts of the grass are rendered white. i use a skylight rig with 25 lights, wich was no problem in the past, also in combination with a field of grass made with hair with similar density-values and size... i tried almost everything: rendered …

This question is for Sebastian Pfeiffer, winner of image contest: What lighting setup did you use for your image of the cartoon characters? Or possibly, are the characters shading in a particular way? or was just diffuse, ambient and specular colors used? I ask, because, I'm liking the way the characters come across in your image. I'm trying to achieve a look very similiar to what yours displays, but perhaps with a bit more specular or highlighted areas on my characters. Thanks in advance for any information. To admins: I wasn't sure where to post this sort of question, so if it needs to be moved, I'll understand. Thx

If your familiar with the work of J. scott Cambell (Gen 13, Danger Girl) Then hopefully you'll recognize my inspiration for this type of toon render. Wonder Woman was just the first superhero I thought to model (most likely becuase of all the chat about the movies, which is on again off again, then justice league, which is on again off again). Anyway, I'm posting because I was hoping for some feedback (as well as someone to tell me I'm not wasting my time). About the model... everything i learned and applied here came from Demented3D's tutorials.. so props to that genius of a man! Everything is toon renedered and surfaced colored with gradients.
