This will be my first actual animation contribution to one of our Spleengene videos. Before it has always been "non-camera" stuff. The song references numerous local Portland-Vancouver venues and bands. BACK STORY: A local band that I wanted to promote but couldn't work into the song is the Mike Branch Band. A few months ago on Face Book he posted this picture of his logo as a "tattoo" and someone complained and he was asked to take it down. A later attempt ended with the same result. It was taken with good humor and became a running gag amongst those in the know. 4s_Mike_Branch_Glasses.mov

Hi all, Does some of you have a model of the Starsky and Hutch Ford Gran Torino maybe , that he could share? Else maybe I could use an obj from turbosquid or similar and import as prop. Guess I would have to exchange the tires in order to rigg some suspension then. I want to experiment to pose it toonshaded for stills for some comicpages..... Thanks for some help and advise...

AM to the rescue the mission complete 5 narrative animations for Dango Tango a web series for they're Halloween season the first 4 where done in another 2d program in 2009 and they needed to have certain scenes redone without changing styles and going back to 2d would have delayed the whole thing so i turned to good ole AM for the ans. the short mov shows the success of that I rebuilt the first scene and made a seamless match to the second in a matter of hours ( the cut the to bird is the 2nd scene ) other scenes where then rebuilt in a similar manner ok so it's not pixar but thats the look number 5 was all AM ( decals made in another app th…

Hi, I assembled all the footage (you know what I mean) done for the Spiral Slayer Book Trailer--mostly screen or concept tests--and put all three musical scores behind it. Also added credits--the 5 or 6 Hash artists who helped with the designs, modeling, texturing, etc. In truth it's long and boring, LOL, but perhaps not so much to other Hash animators. Its here! Remember, play it full screen and have your sound on. Also, very few scenes are finished product and no story is really told. Cheers, Rusty

I'm working on a project where I will be using Lambrina (From the extra's CD), giving her creator, Den Beauvais, credit for her creation. The info file does not tell me what version she was created in. She will be in a red dress. My partner in crime, the esteemed Mr. Spleen, is working on the model and exploring the vagaries of cloth simulation. I on the other hand, am approaching things from a different tack. I wish to make a walk cycle of her in the red dress, and intend to manipulate the dress using Smartskin. Which brings me to my conundrum. The model in bones mode shows perfectly good right and left thigh bones. However when I go to create a pose to work …

Well I am back once again. This years video should be a lot more detailed I am hoping but the rendering will kick my butt. But it will be worth it. So i will just keep posting screenshots of stuff i am creating. Just keeping my progress up because i wont show any of my family so i want someone to see my progress and maybe help me out with some advice! none of the lighting is final.. and some stuff wont make final cut because of memory and rendering. Based on a suggestion by Rodney! EggBot_Warp.mov Basically... -Create a new Action for your model -in the Action create a new Distortion Box -in the D Box's properties select a "target" bone that is parent to all your model's mesh -edit the CPs of the D-Box to make the squshing you want -drop the Action on your model (previously animated to move around in the chor) -the D Box will normally move with the model, so it must be constrained to a Null in the chor to hold it in one place ( a place the model will pass thru)

Well after losing all of my Alcatraz Model from my last project I got my an external hard drive and started me another. I rewrote the script for it be in 3d (I'm thinking about it) there one part in there where I have great white shark come out of the water....LOL They won't expect it. I also made me a asset list of everything I need to model it help out a lot who every thought of that ideal thank you. I'll have about 3 choreographic for the San Francisco Bay, The Island and The Prison. One thing about modeling a prison everything just about the same and there a lot of copy and past does that save a lot of time. Fell free to let me know what you think and if I need to cha…

I made this, well... because I can. Win7_Anim_Logo_TL_01.prj Not completely happy with it as I could not get the specularity on the lens to show properly, but my skills at lighting are not that great. *sigh* It's intended for widescreen 16:9 (1.35 Aspect setting in A:M's Camera) monitors as Windows 7 does NOT correct aspect ratio upon rendering the animation. The second image is an uncorrected 1:1 (1.0 Aspect setting in A:M's Camera)version here as well as the embedded project file (v14.0 only, sorry haven't upgraded yet) link. All righty, I've been meaning to do this for sometime and am only now just getting around to it. As mentioned before, I am assisting with a project known as Star Trek: Red Squad. It's a 4 episode web series that is on its final episode. The basic premise is after the destruction of Romulus, Starfleet is training the cadets of Red Squad aboard the USS Enterprise (which is beginning to near the end of its tenure.) Suddenly, Red Squad is thrown into saving the quadrant from a mad man Romulan by the name of Deitrix, who is using wormhole technology to wipe out the Federation and all of its allies once and for all. Red Squad simply started as a test sequence of animat…

With everybody making head models, I felt the urge to play with making one today, going for more realistic than I normally do. I borrowed the ear from my v3 Krok model. Not liking the mouth right now, but still, fun to mess with... I should point out that I model the whole head rather than doing that face mask thing.

I just bought, downloaded, and installed v16.0a. I have been using AM since 95, and have never had this problem. I have, but it's been manageable. To summarize, it simply crashes. To be more specific, I am using Windows Vista SP1 x64. I am running it on a HP dv4 Entertainment Notebook PC. I am downloading, but haven't installed the latest graphics driver as well as SP2. However, I don't think the version of Windows is the problem. I have gone into the tools>options>global and tried to change my real time drivers but i only have one option: OpenGL. I am bewildered that this computer's graphics drivers only support that and not Direct3D as well, but it is what it is. …

Here is one of a bunch of characters that my uncle had for some kids stories so I thought I would give 3d Coat a whirl for the rough model design. I manually retopo'd the model and exported an obj, brought that into am and with a little cleanup got this. Some small tweaks but already have it rigged. Where I needed hooks I made simple triangles so they were easy to spot.

The last word on my last bee, was that is was a copy of the Georgia Tech Hornet. My friend says that they copyrighted their logo with that bee on it and it should be ok to use. I still think that eventually there would be a challenge from G.T. I still wish to do an animated version of his logo, but I decided to make my own bee. When I am finished with it he can use it or not but I still wish to use it for a learning project. It may be another week or so before I will have the time to rig him and add some decals for flavor, but here is the start.

Hi guys, just wanted to show you a little bit of my latest A:M work... I started to model a audio-interface based on my new Roland VS-100. Most of the work was to create the texture for it. Comments are of course welcome . See you *Fuchur* PS: I although attached an image with the wireframe overlayed. As you can see, the geometry is really quite simple.

I thought I'd just share a current WIP of one of the characters for Red Squad. I seem to be getting closer to conquering facial texturing which I'm quite proud of I must say The problem with how I did it though was that I only had two angles so in the future I would get more angles out of the actors before creating their facial map

I'm doing a short video for my band. I've been working on animating a guy in a space suit doing low-gravity jumping. I've rigged him with a simple rig based on Barry Zundel's, which he described in his A:M 2005 training video. The space suit is a lot simpler than a human body, because you would expect it to crumple in ways human skin will not, so there is not as much cosmetic bone work. Also, movement is somewhat restricted. Anyway, at the moment I'm trying to get the movement as natural as I can. You can see the action at the link below. I've been working on getting followthrough and overlapping action happening. I'd love to hear your views on what I've done …

It's been long and long since I posted anything -- heck, it's been awhile since I made anything . I have totally forgotten how to do the most simple of things within A:M, so this should be fun trying to get back in. But I'm really going to try to get back into it this time, and I thought what better way than to make my character from my friend's adventure. This character is named Connor. He is a twenty-four-year-old who looks no older than twelve. He has above average night vision, unusual strength for his size, and is skilled in martial arts. Since I'm not the greatest at drawing I decided to go with a sketchy look for my concept. I actually thought it tur…

Back in 2004 I got an "Employee of the Month " award which took the form of a small gargoyle sculpture. I thought it would be a fun A:M modeling exercise so i began splining it out but hit a few road blocks and put it aside. The plan was that the recipient would get to have it on their desk for a month and then the next month's awardee would take it over but by the time I got laid off six months later no one else had done anything anyone wanted to talk about so I still have the trophy. Now I have some time, I think I'll try to finish it and see if I can rig him, possibly without straightening him into a T-pose.

This 'Manhattan Project' I am doing for Shawn Rogers (NewGuy) is coming along really nice... I decided that to do a proper NYC you need to also model what lies across the rivers... which is Staten Island, Brooklyn, Jersey, the Bronx and the Atlantic Ocean... among others. (Bridges, Statue of Liberty, ships...) The project is for the Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls... and next I will be modeling their stadium... so the zoom can continue right into midfield! Texturing is minimal... all is heavily stylized... just needed to capture the 'feel' of the city. I will render a high res over the holiday weekend with particle trees, reflections and shadows at 720P…

I just purchased V16. In the forums there were several accounts about how it is significantly faster, and I have to admit I was a bit skeptical that it would be faster, even on something simple and straightforward. But it turns out, it is. I rendered one frame of a project I am working on using the Final preset in the 1080 HD format on a snazzy machine with an Intel i7 quad core 3.4GHz processor. I rendered on 15.0j+, 16.0a 32-bit and 16.0a 64-bit. Rendering a single frame does not do any overt parallel processing, but with V16 you can use NetRender to do 2 different frames at once, so in a real project you would likely get something like double the improvement…

I am starting a new WIP thread to consolidate everything. I will be posting in this thread as opposed to my old WIP thread. Currently the working title for the film is A Dragon's Love Story. This may change - I'm mulling over one or two other titles. The story in a nutshell: A dragon was once in love with a princess that rejected him. Realizing his treasure hoard no longer brings him happiness and he is leading an empty existince, he heads out in search of a mate. He searches high and low but cannot find one. He is about to give up when he finds love where he least expects it. I imagine completed length to be about 3 to 5 minutes. Both the main char…

I'm working on a music video for my band. The instrumental tune is called Escape from the Mines of Titan, and that pretty much spells out the plot. I just started work, and quickly put together a scene. I just created a surface, added some hills and valleys, and put on some color and roughness that gives it a sandy look. (Saturn behind it is an actual NASA photo.) The real Titan has a landscape more like that of the moon, but I would be OK with keeping it sandy. I'd love to hear any tips or suggestions you guys have about improving the look of Titan (maybe a material or image texture?) It's not bad for the small amount of time I've spent on it so far, but it can be…
