We are in the process of gathering our sources to create a portfolio. Our company doesn't specialize in 3D stuff. However, we use A:M quite often in our pipeline of work. We hope to have the process finished in a month. I thought I'd share some of those clips. Here's one, more to come, and eventually the final edit. CREA_MEDIUM.mov

Hi I've just started a new project. Its a model of the Beechcraft Super King Air 200. I'm still early in the modeling process. My plan for this model is to make it crash (hopefully in a live action test). Even though its not much to see yet, let me know what you think *UPDATE* added latest render:

After completing the Lamborghini Gallardo, I wanted to try another car and hopefully improve on what I learned from the first model. So, here is the start of a 1934 Ford 5 window coupe street rod. And since I needed to start somewhere, I started with the frame. I am hoping to add a full suspension, working doors, windows and full interior. If I get really ambitious, then a fully detailed motor and tranny as well. The body will be left mainly stock in appearance. I figure this is going to be a fairly lengthy project if I can accomplish all I want to. When I model this car, I want to be aware of the splines and patch count, trying to minimize each but still h…

When I was working on the "Bus Stop" set, for the forum project, there was a few people that wanted multiple sets. I had a few ideas, but there was not enough time with the deadline Robert set for the project. This was something I've been wanting to do for awhile, but never got around to it. There's still alot to do, but I figured I would post my progress on it.

Last night I did a small lip sync to test the rigging of my remodelled mother wren. It's not quite done (still need to do a little tweaking), but I'd be interested in peoples comments, suggestions etc. http://www.shaunfreeman.com/motherwren_sync.htm

I was going to wait 'til this was up on AMFilms, but I have a feeling it may be a while until it's updated, so... May I proudly present: Soap Opera (11 MB, 5:28, On2 + QDesign codecs) All the animation is mine. All the music is Jeff "Godfrey" Lee's (well, with some help from Mozart). The modeling and texturing is a collaboration between myself and Jeff, as is the, ahem, singing. The full details are in the credits reel at the end; it was originally going to be anonymous for the contest. Special thanks due to the folks at MAAM who saw an early version and provided much-needed encouragement. I'm very proud of this, but comments and criticism ar…

Im trying to make a stack of cardboardboxes to tip over when one of my characters run into it.. Do anyone have an idea how to make this? I have made a test (done in 15min) that is CRAPPY (bad movements and they overlap each other). The way I did it was that I made one cardboardbox.. The I used that in a new action and multiplyed it by using action objects.. then i started to move them around.. Is there a better way to do this??? pls help test: esker.mov

I happen to love comic strips (I'm a HUGE Peanuts fan - collect the strip collections). I even took a class on it while in school. At any rate, here's something I fooled around with like a year ago before I got AM. I'm thinking it might be good for my next mini movie instead of the little rabbit looking creature. C&C welcome. What you see is mostly all I have on him.

I started on a new model my fourth one. I am having some problems. Scaling: When I try to scale by highlighting a section of the model and press the shift key or select the advance minpulator for scaling the model will not scale. I am running AM 12q (windows). Also I am having a problem with the corner of the eyes. I wnated the eyes deep set but no matter what I do there is a shadow around the inside corners. Once again I see that I am spline heavy. Any thoughts. Steve

I've been kicking around the idea of doing a series set in an RPG video game world for a while now. It seems like a great idea for a web series, with low resolution video, low patch-count models, and low res textures. Lower production value all around! I already have a lot of backround notes, and switching to shorter episodes for web-release should make writing a lot easier. I've modeled the low patch figures already, and I've got the female model assembled, mapped, and textured. I just need to rig her. The male model will be next to finish. I'm using basically the same mesh, there's only one extra spline in the female model to make the bust look smoother. He…

As some of you know, I'm working on the SO sets. Adding trees to the sets are very time consuming. Creating assembly actions for each set and positioning the trees takes alot of time. Using hair to create forests, in most cases is not an option. So I needed to come up with another plan. Here I created a model with multiple trees (trees are basic at the moment). I then constrained the trees to the ground plane in the chor in a pose. Now I can drop this model (multiple times if needed) to create a forest. I can translate and rotate the base model and the trees will follow the terrain. I also have plans to add poses to scale the model and the individual trees. Here's an exam…

Based on a suggestion by Rodney! EggBot_Warp.mov Basically... -Create a new Action for your model -in the Action create a new Distortion Box -in the D Box's properties select a "target" bone that is parent to all your model's mesh -edit the CPs of the D-Box to make the squshing you want -drop the Action on your model (previously animated to move around in the chor) -the D Box will normally move with the model, so it must be constrained to a Null in the chor to hold it in one place ( a place the model will pass thru)

Hey all, I've been tinkering with this model for a few days and got some good mechanical pieces done. I've hidden all the modeled machined areas and am in the process of animating the machining steps to make the real thing. So, just for fun, here is the first step. Drilling a 3/8" hole in the end of some acrylic. I have to make the material semi-transparent with some translucency to duplicate clear acrylic yet, but you get the idea. The yellow area at the tip of the bit is the particle emitter for the chips and is animating the emission rate. Also, the chips are just square sprites. This was rendered with six Netrender nodes on my design machine in a p…

I'm playing with SSS in v17a and I'm having problems getting decent results. I didn't use SSS in A:M before (but I did use it in other 3D software). I found out that SSS doesn't work with "Global ambience colour". Can someone please confirm that? I would be very grateful if someone could send me a complete PRJ file with working SSS material that looks like skin or wax (of course model could be a simple ball or cube...). This would help me a lot! Maybe it would be good idea for one of the next contests, if the topic would be SSS materials. Now that A:M supports SSS materials, our community could use couple of good SSS materials. Thank you in advance! Duš…

I've got an idea for the animation I'll be doing but right away I have a question. I want to have an extremely stylized Christmas tree shape (more of a triangular spiral) growing out of the ground. Here's a simple sketch. I don't want to just scale it, I want it to corkscrew out of the ground. What's the best way to "grow" a shape like this?

This is my second attempt at doing one of these types of animations. The first one got so corrupted I gave up. In this one, there will be 4 scenes: 1) Eddie rides horse in a open elevated / mountain area. see horse5a for a very rough preliminary animation. horse5a.mov 2) Eddie rides horse descending into a narrow rocky trail where he should slow down. 3) Of course, he will not slow down and shoots off the trail which triggers a cartoon-type response by the horse to get back on the trail and avoid disaster. see horse6 for a very rough preliminary animation. 4) A final humorous scene, where the angry horse bucks Eddie off his back and kicks sand in his…

As the last push on this project commences (5 months and counting), I've been going back and reworking some of the older elements to bring them in line with the most recent - I've been working on this on and off for 3 and a half years so there is a very large difference in quality between the older stuff and the newer stuff! Anyhow, I thought I'd bring something to show and tell this week so here's my main character re-worked and re-textured for 2004. I'm only using decals (no materials) to save on render time and the maps were created in a method almost identical to that documented so well by Jim Talbot. There's some more work to be done on the lips, eye, forehead and sc…

I was thinking about how I'm starting to get into building structures and said "well, Willy Wonka's factory has many interesting shapes and structures.." Not only that, but it'd be really fun to make the candy machines and even just the building itself! I started by planning to sketch out some concepts of what's going to be in the building. I've scanned my first one and posted. I'm excited just thinking about this..

Should I make arms and head and improvise torso? Or maybe make torso and attatch to other parts? Pict shows how far i am now. Help, please.

HERE is my illustration (FINALLY) of the main idea of how Meta objects could work for the creation of water effects. The rest of the Idea can be found in this stream: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14212&st=60 Complicated or not the work would be well worth it. Just like the work put into making cloth was worth it. The out come would send our projects over the roof!!

Haven't showed anything in a while so... I have been inspired by Stian's cathedral to do some modelling. I was looking at the intricate detail on a US $1 bill and thought... I'll do it in 3D! 4 days and 28,000 patches later... The 'George Washington' bust was big fun to do. I rotoed the basic shapes and began extruding. I borrowed Sir Nigels nose. I am now rigging it for basic motion...eyes, neck/head, mouth/jaw...maybe I'll get ambitious and do some ZignTrack motion capture. I will do some basic zooms and pans, maybe try to sell this for a TV spot or something... DOLLARsmall.mov

I've been out of the loop for 3 years and in that time some awesome stuffs been put out. It's good to be back. It's tough trying to get back clean splinemanship. Wasn't exactly like riding a bike. I was pursuing gainful means of employment. Now finally have time to work on gainful means of enjoyment. Hi all, Working on a project featuring the character ROM and looking for critiques and ideas in some areas, specifically backgrounds; how do you get a background to look like an actual deep environment instead of a a middle-school play backdrop? Any ideas on camera movement, timing, etc. would be welcome. It's pretty much my first animation of any complexity, so I know there's a mile of room for improvement. Thanks, Rich romfall.mp4

Hello! This is my first post. I thought I needed some motivation because I've been very unmotivated lately. Alas I am forced to show my unfinished model. I want the good people of Hash users to comment on the model as I may not realize the flaws of my work because I have never shown it to anyone. You have to excuse the texture because the bump mapping isn't finalized yet. Also it hasn't been lighted yet. It's just s render preview from an Action window. Any constructive comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way,I am using AM 8.0. here's a preview: Preview

At this point I have the room and some of the lights, once I feel I have these basic elements right, I will start adding the glasses and the smoke, and the creepy people. Interesting point the door in the back has no texture or color yet and neither does the ceiling. I am not sure I need to add texture to the cieling. Also does anyone hav any tips on shooting in confined spaces? should I pull off a wall or go with wide angles?

The clip shows the saucer experiencing a little engine and stability problems while flying through a gravitational distortion of some kind. Hi all. I recently started work on a new model. It's a very old and weathered knife with a wooden handle surrounded by a piece of leather. Just wondering if it looks anywhere near photorealistic (which i know it's not) and what i can do to improve it. Oh and, does anyone have any materials for leather? Hope you guys can help me out with this.
