I was rummaging about my hard drive, and I found this image from awhile ago. The lighting is a little bit strange, but it's cool, if I say so myself.

Here's a picture I did recently with two robot characters I made. While the robots are still technically WIPs, this is a nice looking final render of the two. Feedback welcome and appreciated! Cheers!

Well I'm up late, so I decided to post this image. A while back I had posted a wip related to this image that looked like dark beer. I think I worked out some of the issues though Enjoy Image info: 6 separate objects Mostly procedural (except for text decal) using native combiners blobby emitter for water droplets and bubbles 3 lights( with NO shadows!) Tightrope!

Well, it's showdown time again, and this time 'round the topic was Walking a Tightrope. Yow! Here's what I came up with: http://www.hash.com/users/zachbg/tightrope_sor3.mov 800K, Sorenson 3, 13 seconds. For those not in the know, the deadline for these showdowns (found at digitalrendering.com's forums, reg. required) is four hours, from finding out the topic to handing in the completed animation. My time spent on this was probably three and a half hours, because I had to pick my son up from nursery school halfway through. I wonder if that's a problem on feature films. Comments and crits welcome. As a further interesting point, the modeling of th…

This weeks opus for the four-hour animation showdown. The topic was "juggling." I've re-rendered it here for motion blur and an extra bounce at the end. And mood music. See it on my showdown page - QT Sorenson3 181KB

With the help of KenH, and JohnArtbox, I was able to figure out how to get a model into AM V11, and have it look halfway decent! I had to edit the .obj before I brought it into AM to lighten it a bit, but it came in without a hitch, and as you can see looks great, thanks to Porcelain.mat. Anyway, my first tests, and more will follow. My next goal is to decal this head, and try displacement tests with it. Wish me luck!

Hi. I got this software called VRHotwire that lets you add tracks to QT panos and cubics. It' like Livestage, I think , but cheaper and rougher around the edges. I made a virtual tour with a QT cubic as the main node. I added a sound track and a small animation done in A:M. Comments welcome. Look down to see the animation. Cubic I'd love to hear from someone with Livestage on how it is adding this kind of stuff, and if there is a way to minimze the speed loss when adding animations to cubics.

I'm working on a toon walk cycle. I have motion blur set, but it seems to be coming out strangely. Is MB not possible in toon? Here's what it's doing: I've since turned off motion blur and it's still happening. I don't know why it's happening now.

Hello, i am doing a cartoony animation at the moment. I am pretty happy with what i got so far, but there are still some things, which need to be sorted out. For example, i can not get the renderer to give me manga toon shading and shadows ... doh ... and i used square, flat elements, to decal my soundwords on them (since i have no sound, this is a must). But even set to cookie cut map, the give me these nasty edges, which i can not get rid of. No, it is not the picture file, having inconsistencys in the key colour, i doublechecked this! How do you like the crude style? Heiner

Hey all, I've finally gotten to getting my animation together, but now I'm in need of good sounds (i've got some, but some lame ones as well). I'm also looking for possibly some good background music perhaps. Here's my intro . . . as a teaser. http://www.mtaonline.net/~7ohms/intro.mpg

Hiya folks! Here is a new piece that I worked on in collaboration with a number of people. AM was used for the basis of the metronome and related effects (so hopefully I can post it in this section, instead of the OT section). You'll need quicktime and its 19mb: http://www.iliadic.com/ut.mov Comments and criticism are welcome! Check out the rest of my site at http://www.iliadic.com Enjoy!

Hey guys, I just remembered a couple of animations I did for a fishing web site. They needed a really quick talking Stryper and an animated example of how too hook up a spedial rig using anchovies.... hmmmm. http://www.powellstripers.com/default.cfm It took about 3 days to do both anims. The lip synch could have been more robust, but for online content I guess it's OK. Comments welcome. Cheers. MU PS. I also did a talking flash card for this site somewhere.... I believe you have to click on the "maps" button and look for "Chip Powell".

Hi all. here's a jacket i'm doing for a character. known issues are things like the general shape needs a bit of tweaking and such. My specific question regards decals. I'm really looking for a more interactive method of positioning a decal. What I mean is that I want a way to apply a decal, then move the cp's around UNDER the application, till the texture is in the right place. This should take place in an Action. Right now the process works like this- apply stamp look at model delete stamp move cp apply stamp rinse repeat. what i'm hoping for is more interactive than that. Any ideas?

Summer days, summer days... This is an image I did a couple weeks ago to lend a summer theme to my site. Been meaning to post it. Cold Night was feeling more and more out of place... Props as always to Robb Allen for his free Grunge Pack collection. If I ever find myself with some time on my hands and a digital camera, I swear I'll pay him back karmically by creating a Grunge Pack 2. One of these days. Summer days...

While driving on vacation last week I noticed a lot of clouds unfortunately some of them attempted to wash my car. Anyway I got this idea for a new cloud material from watching them. Here it is applied to a flat plane for now with a little animation added to the turb on the gradients. Will have to try it on a "cloud" model also. this is the first render test johnl3d...note North Dakota has a lot of clouds newcloud.mov

Hello, Hashers. Though I've had A:M for a while, I've only recently (like, this weekend!) been able to sit down with it and actually start learning how to do stuff. This short animation is the first real "thing" I've produced. (17 secs, Quicktime, about 2.7Mb.) I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks, Alan. PS - You might want to turn your speakers down.

Hey Forum! Thanks for the kind words... I am attaching the 'final' version of the movie from earlier and another one I did quick on the side. Both are actually tests to use action blending, which for the most part works pretty cool, with a minimal of hitches. I think I stumbled upon a 'bug' or 'limitation' whereas when using v11 hair with dynamics'on' that any 'dynamic-constraints' do not appear at render time, like the program is only able to arithmaticly handle one, not both. I say that because I (naturally) put a bone in Miss D's 'chest area' with a dynamic constraint to add a 'jiggle' factor... and in my chor I can see it bouncing away REALLY nice...but when I re…

Hello everyone. Someone in HASH community chat asked me about a constraint system to allow both suspension and steering for an automotive project. I'm sorry but Hash Chat went down for me and I lost the connection. And I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't really pay attention as to who it was that was asking. Anyhow, here is the project if anyone might need something like this. Zipped Project (bones only) Hope this helps someone

I'm working on a project that involves my character standing in place, sloshing the mud using his feet & legs. In the pic, you can see that I've used five bones to manipulate the surface of the mud. The four bones lying horizontally are all constrained to "aim at" the fifth center vertical bone with the "scale to reach" selection checked. It's also translated to an additional bone I've added to the characters calf region. Now when I move the characters leg up, the surface of the mud follows but it's consistancy looks more like glue than mud. I'm considering adding an additional bone to the "mud" model and assigning a "dynamic constraint" to it to give it a bit mo…

Here's a quick screenshot of the lipsync interface I just finished. It's modeled after Jason Osipa's "Stop Staring" book, and uses the example of William Young's project file at this link: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...&hl=osipa's Each null visible on the right controls anywhere from 2-4 pose sliders. The individual right and left poses are still controlled via the pose slider window. After some texturing and lighting adjustments I'll be starting the lipsync project. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Hi all! Since I suck at modeling.. I figured I'd focus on the animation for a while and try to get good at that. I went back to the 'Door's Stuck' tutorial and played around a little.. this is just the first un-polished pass so there's a lot of anomalies and timing issues.. but it's just a beginning. Steve Door's stuck first pass..
