If you guys were going to attempt to model a garden with several hanging plants, ivy, and blooming flowers, what would your preferred method be? Hair maybe?

I have been asked to speak on presentation design at the upcoming Answers in Genesis Creation College in West Harrison, IN. My talk title will be "Making Your Presentations Zing!" I'll teach graphic design principles, eye candy skills, dos and don'ts of design, and more. I'm going all out on this design and using Apple Keynote to present for its advanced multimedia technologies and awesome transitions. The gears and globe were modeled in Animation:Master. The globe will slowly rotate in the Keynote version. Cover (JPEG)

Hello Been such a LONG time since I've had time to work in 3d and post here..but here I go again. I've put a hold on my bunny character (snowball, dont know if you remember her) and began this new character for a small client. Instead of my normal 2D work I've been asked to create a nice little mascot for a logo in 3d for possible animated introduction and stills. This is my progression so far after about 2 -3 hours work. I'd love to hear some critiques in terms of my spline placement or anything else... The character is to be a stylized mouse, slightly cartoonish, and realistic blend. I plan on adding fur to him later. Thanks

Much of my focus these days is with hand drawn animation but it all tends to blend and further complement the study of animation. For instance, some folks spend a great deal of time sculpting physical models (maquettes) as an aide to visualizing their characters and objects in order to make drawing them (from any angle) easier. Even animators who draw their characters should have a 3D computer animation program. Of course I recommend Animation:Master because... with splines... modeling is an extension of drawing. This was primarily an exercise in trying to model this character quickly. It would have been wise for me to sketch out a few drawings to rotos…

Our new film has been off to a slow start.. mainly beacuse iv been having a lot of problems with it lol. so after some large problems I decided to take the long weekend off. (including yesterday) but I didn't want to stop modeling cuz i love it so I decided to make some lego.. mainly because its easy, fun, and I just recently watched leo's "Beatles: A tribute" I went with the Rebel snowspeeder, because it was the only lego thing I had still standing lol only took me 1 day to make all the pieces and four hours today to build it. Here it is so far.. love to here what u think

Here's a render of a couple little guys i've been working on for a pet project. The one in the back still needs toes, textures and rigging. Full size image (1280x600) here. And there are some walk cycle gifs for the bomb guy for his sprite sheet. Over on the development blog.

This is my first effort at using the 2008 rig for animating. I'm not sure how I feel about the rig yet yet, there are so many controls and variables. I haven't done any lip synch or facial expressions yet so there is no sound. I will post that with the next one. Any feedback welcome regards simonCirius.mov

Some folks may remember this little fella - Well... I've been dusting off a sequence from this short and thought that I'd put it out there (-here-) for those who wish to opine. I've been trying out a different animation style with him and am pretty pleased with it.... Squash and Stretch are our friends! QT - Sorenson2 - 1.5mb Anyhow, all comments welcome. Bring a bottle.

So far only a foot. I spent hours today trying to clean up the area where the 3 'toes' join the leg. I learned a lot that I had missed in my attempts at inorganic. The biggest problem I ran into that I finally figured out is how the areas that I joined using splines weren't joining correctly. I tried many different ways to get it to correct but I would have one axis of the CP curving like it was supposed to and the other axis was not. So I tried to delete/break splines and replace them. I have been under the impression that the direction that your attachment spline is going is critical. However, this did not appear to be the case. What I finally had to do was disconnect t…

This isn't animation but it is related to the WIP of our project and I just thought some people might be interested. I recorded most of the voices in our studio at work a few weeks back. However, I had Ian Fairbairn in mind to record a couple of voices. I decided to travel to his home in London and record there. Not ideal but it worked out fine and the quality sounds on par with the studio recorded stuff to me. Ian was in several episodes of 'Dr. Who' and 'Timeslip' in the 70's and also 'The Avengers' and other similar British series. [attachmentid=15573] [attachmentid=15574]

here is a screenshot of what im doing. I am making a animation music video of the song We Will Rock You. i have the lead singer guy in the front and the back five sing the We Will, We Will Rock you part. i am editing the sound to make it sound funnier so it sounds like litter creatures. well another thing would be if this is legal or not. but what i want to know is if there is a way to have a bunch of the little creatures doing a head bob during the whole song using sprites or something to make it easier or something.here is what i got... i want to make the whole thing in the back filled with those guys easier than having to drag and drop all the models and place th…

I will post more info after I start making more progress. For now this is what I get when I fool around with the sweeper plugin after 5minutes of modeling, SSS, and AO. I recommend opening this image in Photoshop and viewing at 100%. There is some fine texture like detail generated by SSS that can only be seen at full res. On a side note I got that 010 error and it took raising the values in SSS to work around it. www.hdjibguy.com

I'm almost finished with renovating an old unpublished headmodel of myself . This was an nice texturing exercise and an exercise in modeling something non-mechanical I do not like the texture on the ear at the moment. Hopefully if I find the time in the near future I'll try to rig the face and try to do an lip-sync Comments and crits are highly appreciated Regards Stian [attachmentid=13888]

This is purely for entertainment value if there is any. It's around 4mb and wmv format. I did this around two years ago using a couple of donated models from the cd and a few of my own. It was really my first little story animation. You'll notice changing shirt colors, breaking mesh, and flickering probably among other things so I'm not really looking for critiques. Just if you're bored on a Sunday afternoon. The Pizza experience

Please have a look at this carscene. I have some questions: I have a sunlight directed from the left and a klieglight from the right enligthening the sign and cast shadows on, but the shadows are not like I would expect them. Under the car it looks as if only the axles and tyres cast shadow but not the body of the car, also there is no shadow under the bridge and the sign is casting no shadow as well ( I would expect like see my painting.) Second, is there a way to avoid decals showing from the backside. Any help? Thank you Jake

I've been playing with using lattices in distortion mode lately and found it an incredibly easy and fast way to morph one model into another. The really great thing about it is that all of my facial controls still work nearly perfectly on the new, morphed model. The guy on the left is my original head model. And the fellow on the right is his new African buddy. This took me all of about 45 minutes to do. Neat, huh? I love Animation Master!!!

This is my first fully rigged character in AM. His name is Murphy and he presently has 25 facial morph targets with 3 more to add. This was an exercise to see what AM could do as I usually use Blender,Maya, and Max. I'm going to do some animation shots at the end of this week.

Hello, all. I'm in the early stages of modeling a set for a short piece I'm working on, but I'm getting some strange artifacts that I can't seem to shake. I based my volumetric settings on this thread ( http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3994 ), but I don't seem to be getting the same quality of render. Number one issue is the sharp diagonal banding on the light shaft. I've set my klieg width to zero, as instructed, but no dice. It's not the "quality" setting in the volumetrics, either--even at 99999%, the banding is as sharp as ever. Number two is the missing shadows behind the urinal pipes. What happened to them? Is it because of the Z-bu…

http://www.hash.com/stills/displayimage.ph...up&cat=-1&pos=0 I was watching the DV garage tutorial on the crate, and I figured I'd try to make one. Instead of putting a logo on the first panel, I put "Caution: Carnivorous Plants" and that started the ball rolling. I made all the textures in photoshop (except for the $50, that pic came from the treasury department website), all of the wood materials came from pictures I've taken, and the grunge maps were all made from a pic of my oil tank! The concrete and bricks for the walls came off of a cd, but I had to do a lot to them to get them to look like that. Oh, and what's the best way to do some…

Here is an acoustic guitar that i have started modeling and getting some of the decaling, texturing done out of the way. Once I build the neck, I am curious on how to make the strings twang when I animate it , when the strings are strummed. If anyone can shed light on the subject please let me know, I have an idea, but whethere to use dynamcis or just completely hand animate it all is gonna be a pain in the butt. I have two decals on the model, one I had for the decorative ring around the pickup, When I put the wood decal on, it put itself over it, is there any way possible in order to bring the decorative ring in front , on top ? I haven't posted anything in this forum yet, but I've just been messing around with various things, trying to learn my way around, and here's some of the stuff I've come up with. I could use some help with setting up a simple rolling action. Up to and including v13 I could set keyframes by typing in a frame number, then rolling a bone to the desired position and upon release I got a keyframe. Now In v16b I can only get a frame if I hit the key button but the "keyed" roll value is always zero regardless of the bone's displayed Z rotation value. Referring to the attached screen grab; as I roll the bone the entire horizontal green timeline moves up and down as a solid line while the vertical scale stretches with it. I can only get a non-zero roll value at a key frame by manually moving the cp on the timeline. I'm assuming that there is another …

Hi all. here's a jacket i'm doing for a character. known issues are things like the general shape needs a bit of tweaking and such. My specific question regards decals. I'm really looking for a more interactive method of positioning a decal. What I mean is that I want a way to apply a decal, then move the cp's around UNDER the application, till the texture is in the right place. This should take place in an Action. Right now the process works like this- apply stamp look at model delete stamp move cp apply stamp rinse repeat. what i'm hoping for is more interactive than that. Any ideas?

Hi, Many have seen these models before but… here they are again. Using Bill Young’s ‘Model a Face’ CD from Anzovin Studio, one model was based on my face and one was based on my daughter’s. Mine could be a little better, my daughter’s came out pretty good. Both heads are rigged using one of the first face rigs presented in the AM community; Shawn Freeman's as shown on one of the AM SIG Pro Training sets. On one, you can see that I've overlaid the 3D face control setup from an early version of the Squetch rig. Latter images show both the models in scenes from my current project. Comments welcome, Rusty

I had the idea for quite some time now, but now i finaly found the time to model, texture and reigg at least the caveman. There is still some work to do, but it is going in the right direction. To set up this caracter, modelling, texturing and rigging (Setupmachine) took me about 2 days. What do you think guys? Cheers, Heiner
