Hey, Well I haven't been doing much with AM lately and I kind of abandoned my gangster project, but here's a quick model I made yesterday and today of a lizard on a log:

I am trying to re-rig a character, and for the first time, [when making an Action] I find bones that will not rotate, or will rotate on only one axis. For example. In this instance, the arm on the right side of the pic. will move only fore and aft on the Y-axis. I can't move it up or down. On the other side, I can get the base of the thumb to move, but the two other digits won't. I can't even get the "rotate" symbol to show when I move the cursor over the bone. I have the bones 'locked' since I rarely use IK. I've tried IK both ON and OFF. I've unlocked the bones, but instead of moving in the screen plane, the arm section twists and spins around. As the title says, this is the linkage used by steam locomotives to allow them to move forward or in reverse. The idea of splining the convoluted shapes and transitions intimidated me so much that I kept putting off starting them for months. But I finally bit the bullet and I think they can stand up to an arm's length inspection. The quasi rectangular frame (which is about 6 ft. long) has a close approximation of the final cast iron texture for all the parts but the Playdough colours on the other parts are just to ease inspection.

I've been whittling out a logo these past couple days. It'll be mainly for video production work that I do. I know a flying cardboard box isn't all that glamorous for a company icon, but I liked the idea for some reason. I'm not quite done with the animated version. A:M's giving me a little difficulty with the wings on the box. I'll try to remember to post that when I'm done with it, but for now it's just a picture. Please comment if you wish. Thanks!

Hi all! Now I'm making some logos for a clup called ArbogaFreeriders and I'd like some ideas for more examples for their logo. I've made one (see pic) but I need more styles. Any idea helps! PS It is a bicycle club but they don't want any bicycle looking logo (too much used already). DS //Korken

Hi, There is no secret that I'm a newbie, but I made a animation (Not shure I'm alowed to call it animation since it is just a logo thing, ... ) . But I'm using the excelent Ocean surface disk supplyed by zandoriastudios. What made me come to HASH was the need to do what I want to happen (Spesial effects and so forth) making mee searh the web after animation programs ... and what $299 ??? I could not belive my eyes Had great fun anyway making it, and learn a great deal about sprites If you have the time, have a peek at www.vivi.no/iedemo59.wmv Cheers Tor-Bjarne

In May 2004, I sponsored a contest among select musicians to compose a unique theme for D.Joseph Design. Dane Walker composed a theme closest to my desires and very pleasing to my tastes. This animation, as company identification, is to precede "professional" media-based productions. I call this the "Gentle Logo" with the piano version of DJD Theme. Go here.

I'm working on the logo design for one of my trademarks. Surprisingly, had more trouble with the border piece than I did assembling all the lettering! All kinds of squirrely behavior with bias. Not sure why. Anyway, here is what I have so far. It will be a lot more interesting once I add the art deco style decorative elements. Any comments or suggestions will be welcome. I'll likely have some questions to ask about why I might have had trouble with bias handles moving around unexpectedly. For now, I need to get some rest. Bill Gaylord zzzzzzzzzzz...

Sooo... It's been a looong time since I posted a WIP here, so here goes: I've been working on theese two logos the last week. One is for a CounterStrike(a PC game) MOVIE and one is for a CounterStrike CLAN. And since I'm such a nice guy, I don't charge a buck (ok so maybe that has something to do with my current insufficiant amount of skill with A:M, but I like the "nice guy"-stuff better). Anyways, here's the Movie Logo or intro or signature or whatever: (btw, I tried to but the camera in a certain angle so that adult contenet would be as non-visible as possible. What can I say? The guy likes his ladies.) There's suppose to float an E down on the desk, bl…

This doesn't quite fit here, and it doesn't quite fit in WIP. I've finished the animation, but I'm still rendering--and will be for some time! The story came from a sound project I did in college a few years ago. Today I realized that it's easy to add pictures to my posts, so this is my second one of the night. Comments/Crits welcome, but I can't change much at this point. I've rendered in multiple passes and composited in photoshop. I'm compositing the final in after effects. Cheers, Matt

Hey all! So here I am, with 'Stolen Child' well underway and demanding attention, way too much comic and web work that I need to find time to poke at, and what do I do? That's right, I create a new WIP for my 'mood shot' entry in hopes that I might actually finish it one day. I must be suicidal or something... Anyway, 'Longing for Home' has a long way to go. While the all the rough blocking animation is there, and there is enough in place to tell the story, it'll be nice to polish this up into something I'd actually be proud of. Something nice to put up on the website, anyway. I'm also going to be using this as a style test bed for another project that I want t…

Last night I modified the demon sprite by selecting some of the mesh in the head and extruding it up to form a helmet, then added the lenses. When I looked at him in the Choreography, the helmet was there. as expected, until the head section moved away from its default posirtion. 'Looey' runs down a length of road and the helmet follows behind. How is it that the model can come apart? I've never seen this before. I closed out, did a re-start...but it didn't help.

Hello all. I am looking for a variety of animators to produce short features for non-broadcast use. I need a variety of styles. From CUTESY to DETAILED. Some will be loops, others more scripted. Cute animated characters, space themes, dinosaurs.... seeking it all. I am paying by PayPal or check. Certainly not top dollar or industry standard, but for a beginner who has talent, this is a great opportunity. If I like what I see, I will come back for more. Please send demo reels & inquiries to j2productions@mac.com Thanks. -James

Hello, I was fascinated by a recent thread on the forums about collaboration. Animation has always been a team sport and I enjoy the challenges, camaraderie, and competition that comes with team collaboration. I know the folks at Hash are working on their "Oz" movie and I wish to take away anything or anyone from that experience. However, I feel more like creating a shorter piece. (I still need to sleep and chat with my wife once in a while.) So here's the pitch: I have an idea for a six minute (approx. time) short that is a spoof of zombie horror movies. However, instead of being zombies the "monsters" are snow men and women terrorizing a group of children…

Hi all, Working on a project featuring the character ROM and looking for critiques and ideas in some areas, specifically backgrounds; how do you get a background to look like an actual deep environment instead of a a middle-school play backdrop? Any ideas on camera movement, timing, etc. would be welcome. It's pretty much my first animation of any complexity, so I know there's a mile of room for improvement. Thanks, Rich romfall.mp4

I need someone to do landscapes for my series, CLone Commander. Mail me if you think you're qualified. This is a non-paying job. We need 3 different deserts (if you know about Star Wars, it's for Geonosis). Later we'll need 2 dank forests, an ocean, a cave, and 2 snowscapes. For now, though, just the deserts.

I have tried deleting splines & re-adding them. This has solved a couple of the problem spots where I cannot make a 5 point patch. The others are stubborn...could I have some duplicate control points or something - if so how would I find them? Also, on four 5 point patches there are squiggly line artifacts even with porcelain. again - none of my attempts to fix have worked. Any suggestions? Problem_Shell.zip

Hello, everyone! I'm not sure if this is asking too much, but I'm hoping there's someone out there who would be willing to help for the fun of it, or who knows where I could find one. I love A:M's easy to use choreography interface and finding staging and animating very intuitive, but a modeler I am not. To be honest, between writing the script, teaching myself how to greenscreen, research, etc etc, building a model from scratch is something I'm not having a lot of time left to dedicate to. If you are interested in jumping onboard, please contact me. I'm looking for a realistic as possibe Rebel A-Wing. All the 3DS models out there import very poorly to A:M.

Hello, I am looking for some models to add to my business portfolio. Ideally I would like to do a trade with an artist at this point. I would mill the foam model out for you for free. Yes you get a copy and I get to show the results in my portfolio. I can discuss further details for those interested. Ideally, I would like to find a great T-Rex, Enterprise model, weapons, a motorcycle(chopper or harley)etc. I can not except every model that is submitted, but I will look and consider all that submit something. To give you of my back ground, I was a digital modeler for Lucas Arts and have produced several sculptures that have gone into production of the years. M…

Hello AM users. I'm looking to hire 1 AM animator to start, for a temporary project that will possibly continue into a regular work project. I'm looking for someone that can do beautiful female model (to pose, walk, turn on runway), background scenery, and work from my characters. So, you AM users send your emails/resume to deyostu@deyoproduction.com and I will go into details. I do not check in here at AM forum that often. So use the email: deyostu@deyoproduction.com Thanks

Just thought that I would post a link to my ball guy outside Dagoos' cool animation thread. I haven't had a chance to fool with Pesto's ball, but it looks pretty cool. I made a few updates for better knee and heel control, but there is no extra controllers for you to worry about. www.chrisolsen.org/ballman.zip I think having a little competition using simple models like this would be a good idea for a future hash animtion contest.

I was rather intrigued by the Loons, so I just had to make one....( the original illustration just didn't do it for me..) I did it with Photoshop. I didn't like the idea of the "warts", but I thought there should be some sort of scar from a puncture wound, so I went with patches, like an old tire, but after he was done I thought of crossed tape, so I put one on his belly. It doesn't say whether or not they wear clothes, so I didn't give him any. I figure with no genetalia or (There's just no delicate way to say it) buttcrack, he shouldn't really look naked, but I had to give him a belly button. Where else would you stick the airhose?

Hi, I just wanted to drop a quick note about a short film production I'm currently working on with a buddy (I'm waiting on a render). The film is called "Lost Hallway". I'm handling CG and compositing for it. It's a very green-screen heavy job with a very tight deadline. I'm using Animation Master 15 for the CGI and Eyeon Vision for keying and compositing. The pipeline is Sony HD video camera at 60i to Avid, then export of each shot to individual TIFF files, which are then scaled down by Vision to make rotoscope images for loading into AM15. Modeling and rendering is done in AM, and animated to match the actresses (we used green screen tracking markers to get re…

Ok. I needed to get my animation that I had started 1 year ago, off my plate so that I could move on. (Gawd. ONE YEAR AGO???...Are you serious?) One month ago, I noticed there was a music video contest advertised on Talenthouse.com, sponsored by the band The Cataracs, in which they were inviting people to animate to their little ditty "Undercover". The music "sorta" fit with Ida & Lothario's already started dance routine. The music clip was only 1 minute long. I had 45 secs or so already done. I missed the entry date by 1 day (confoooosion on my part, very confooosing due date for their contest which only got 6? entries). Boo Hiss Lame. BUT t…

Hello - 2-3 weeks back I posted a pic I had a caricature artist draw at Universal Studios http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33132 because I wanted to see how well it would work as a rotoscope for a character... using it worked out pretty good. This isn't really a "work in progress" but I would love some crits. I have created one other "human" as one of my early models and she didn't come out real great - her lip movement for talking was way off too, so I kind of set her way back in the animation, so you couldn't really tell - I need more "human" modeling practice which seems to be the hardest for me, so this is the new version of her. The lip syn…

No idea why I didn't try this earlier but retopology is so much easier than trying to 'fix' imported models WIP: The beauty of retopology is that it forces you to 'learn' spline topology without having to concentrate on making a model. Cheers
