Stylized Landscape, do you like it, or is it too different. I like it, but what do you guys think. I have also stylized the trees, there is a sample of one of them in the Mtn pic. I modeled a canoe in the lake one, I'm working on the charaters now. These we just tests, of the look of the landscapes. So camera angles etc. would be different with the charaters, and the lighting would foucus on the charaters more than backgrounds etc. Dwayne http://www.dwaynejensen.com

First off, I want to try the terrain plug-in. Where do I put .hxt files and .atx files for plugins to work? Second, is there an easier way to get water like this than model it?

FINALLY I started a new semi-time taking project rather than a bunch of one hour mini projects . Here are some sneek peeks of it: No particles and water (9 min @ 3000x1500) Particles on no reflections (Kill render time) Everything on(Raytraced took 1hour45min for this half of the image so I downcroped it to look nice) I've been working on it for about a day now. The grass is just a simple imageplane on a hair emitter same with the branches and leafs in the trees. The atmosphere is a skydome with global lighting at 50% and a sun with shadows at 50%. C&C welcome Photoman

Here is my attempt at a landspeeder. I had a really difficult time modeling. I still was not able to make it w/o creasing. I did not (and still do not) know how to make the cockpit area without having major creases. For this model it is fine because it is only going to be seen at a distance and for only a short time. I am still learning how to model without creases...I guess it comes with practice....And the usual any comments would be welcome on the model. :-)

Here's something I've been working on. The model is a modified "Jungle Queen" model, modeled by Jim Talbot. The glasses were modeled Ken Citron (pixelplucker) and the boots were modeled by Eric Camden (Eric2575). Thanks guys for your contributions. Now I just need some handguns. The model was rerigged with the 2008 rig including the face. The outfit still needs weighting. The hair is A:M hair. The holster still needs work. And I hope to build a set. The things you can do with the available resources.

Ok this will show my limited knowledge of AM and animating with AM. Some of the models for the short I am working on have 2500 patches all the way to 5500. There will be up to 7 characters in a scene at a time. There will also be a city scene with several buildings most of the items will be props as it were but still I can see a large patch count in the chor. So my questions are as follows. In other programs you can render layers at a time. Does AM have that capablility? For example, as the girls walks down the street she will only interact with the sidewalk and street with her shadows. can she be rendered from the chor and then other elements rendered seperate…

Here is my latest attempt at a head, theres stil tweaking to be done but its a step in the right direction. I was hoping to use Yves skin shader, alas! Im on osx so i will have to remain patient! Once I remember how to flatten the mesh again I'll texture it. Anyone know of a good eye tutorial? Anyway critique welcome. Nixie

Check out newly finished live action, Laugh Pack Attack on AM:FILMS. http://amfilms.hash.com/search/entry.php?entry=905 Some trivia: Guess what book is next to the little girl on the chair? The 12 pack cases in the background in the kitchen are modeled, not live action. Hope you like! Rob Milliken.

I was looking through some of my old comics & annuals, trying to decide if anything was suitable for my seven year old (none of it is). There was a pretty good schematic for Judge Dredd's bike, so I started on it. This is the MkI Lawmaster. The Mk2 has cannons. These are the ones from the 2000AD and Judge Dredd comics: the one in the Stallone film is just a disguised Harley, so it has relatively thin tyres. I don't recall the flying one in the film ever being in the comics, but they did start thirty years ago (God I'm old, now) so my memory may have failed me. There are some obvious faults, such as one of the tailpipes going through the rear wheel bodywork, …

This thread moved from http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19810 Here is the first version. I started out modeling what was meant to be an older aristocratic gentlemen but my attempts to make him look older resulted in more of an Asian look, or perhaps french. The end goal will be a scene where he is painting at an easel. Comments and critique welcome. -Ethan

I created a leaf emitter model with growth and color sliders. Heres how to use it. Open leaf emitter model and import your tree. Create a group for your leaves. Drag the hair material shortcut from the leaf emitter group to your leaf group. Delete leaf emitter group and name. Rename your leaf group leaf emitter (very important). Add a leaf image to hair material. Open pose slider. Drag the model into choreography in shaded mode (color does show in wireframe mode). Move sliders to see the change. Windows v11.0. If your having problems let me know. Works very well with Marcel's treeez plug-in. Just drag onto level0 group and rename. Enjoy.

I am currently building some models for an animation I plan to make. I am just starting to grasp the animation aspects of AM or software period. The ship is from the concept I used as my personal photo which was one of my 1st models in AM. The "bot" is sortof a cross between a mech and a tank. I have a pilot for the vehicles but am having fun learning to rig. Any info that can help make bones and constraints easier to understand would be appreciated. As well info on modeling environments and lighting and camera control will be appreciated. The models are still in the assembly stage and are set into a hangar or what will eventually be a hangar with some adjustments for ref…

Well, I know it's been a while since I've been really visible on the boards, but I just wanted to show you guys some things I've been working on. First off, I was inspired by the Batman Animated series to create this 4 minute animation that I posted on youtube: Here's a quick environment test I did afterwards: Next is a test I did involving the Batman animated series style again. This time, I imagined what the "Knightfall" Jean Paul Valley batman would look like in this style. [attachmentid=21318] I also made models of The Riddler and Robin from the Animated Series. [attachmentid=21320] [attachmentid=21319] Third, I found some great reference of Marvel…

Hello folks, Recently I have embarked on working on my modelling and animation skills, so I decided I would produce some animations and models based off of something I'm big fan of. Basically this is a head of one of the robotic heroes (Toa) from the LEGO toyline "Bionicle". www.bionicle.com Enough about what it is, here it is! Its not much, but for a beginner modeller this is a big step up for me.

Legions of Legos are battling for control of the galaxy. At least, that's what my son has been dreaming about in his play time. Some day this will all be animated. Photoshop created the energy beams and composited the individual shots. My daughter believes there needs to be some visible form of propulsion, even if the advanced technology that is pictured here uses invisible forces. What do you think?

Hi all, Thought I'd share my first public animation with a purpose! This is a short opener for a conference I'm helping with next week. LegoDude walks across the campus and enters the arts building (20 seconds; top frame is towards the end of that), then he enters the auditorium and walks down the aisle (a walk cycle down auditorium steps was fun!), climbs up onto the stage, then waves each arm to open each side of curtains (second image). After the curtains are open and the opening slide is onscreen behind him, LegoDude takes a bow (three different cameras capture this moment) -- last image. Thanks for the help of all those who worked with me on the walk cyc…

Those of you who are familiar with my work know I'm not a render monkey--I love beautiful images as much as anybody, but I'm too impatient to wait for them (or to learn enough about lighting to make them). However, my recent Olympic vodcast got such a good response I decided to re-render the last shot, where Shaggy falls into an iced-over swimming pool. I used Image-Based Lighting for the general outdoor look, and decided to try soft reflections on the ice and see if it would look any good. Hot DAMN! This is with only 10% sampling on the soft reflections, and 9-pass multipass. It really looks like ice, doesn't it? (Of course, at eighteen minutes per fram…

Howdy Hashers I couldn't resist posting this WIP showing my intrepid heroes getting into trouble. I am quite pleased with it but it certainly ain't finished. You will need QuickTime 7 to view and it is just over 1mb if you want to take a peak. Lift Off Once this scene is done and dusted I think I am probably nearly half way through my film... OH MY GOD I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!

I am stumped. Take a look at this image and see if you can figure it out. I have a camera moving through a scene but suddenly a few frames in I suddenly get this... I have checked all the lights, all the cameras and cannot see what is causing it. I am using two volumetric klieg lights, one shining directly down and the other through the doorway. Even when I turn the one pointing directly down off, I get the same problem. When it is on and the camera is out of the lights cone I still get the same problem. Is it just an anomaly? Or have I got a bug? Anyone with any ideas about it would be most helpful
