This is just an test in doing photo comp. The clip is inspired by some norwegian tv vignette, where all sorts of objects hovers to create this two. It is however a bit of work behind this, I took approximately 60 images of my livingroom that i stitched together to make an environment map and IBL image. I had to go back to "global color" instead of IBL, since the IBL gave the groundplane an unwanted colorburn. The coin is made by coloring a coin with a felt pen, and the rubbing its surface with some paper to get the patter showing, then I scanned it. scanning the coin without the coloring gave me just the highlights. The scanned image got some ps fixing, and then was used …

Hello All, I have a situation where I have created a walk cycle and want my character to wave and turn his body during and after the cycle. The problem is that as soon as I move any bone which is keyed in the walk action, it wipes out all the previous keyframes from the action for that specific bone. So, for example, the feet are cycling quite nicely along a path and if halfway through I move one of the foot control bones just slightly, then that specific bone no longer cycles normally. (I hope this makes some sense). Can someone help me out here? Thanks, Eugene

Hello All- Came across this fascinating little animation which I think was done in another program. I think the actual revolving of the bones/parts might be fairly simple or straightforward but I can't figure out how they get the skin to not crease as the parts fold in on themselves... Any ideas how not to crease the outer skin as the parts rotate? Thanks for any info! Tom CubeSpin.wmv

The right one is my first model and I would like it to look like the left one in it's details. I have never done anything like this, so any advice is really appreciated. Correct me if I am going in the wrong direction. Would I take my model apart as in flattening the hull? Once it is flattened, draw the plate lines on it in photoshop and then apply the tga as a decal color map and bump map? The model on the left was done by Fred Kuentz and William Babington. Since the hull is basically an octagon, should I flatten each of the eight hull longitudinal sections, or just half the hull flat? I also wonder how can I achieve any proportional accuracy and spaci…

When I copy a branch and paste it to make a tree, all the properties of the copied hair are lost as well as any grooming. Is there a way to copy and still keep the copied properties of the hair?

I have modeled a ski lift chair attached to a cable. I put in a path thinking i could constrain to it and the bones would carry the chair around the path. My problem is how to make the chair and cable move around the path. I have tried a few different relationship ideas - translate to, spin like, orient like, constraint to path - but haven't got it to work yet. I'm sure it is the wrong combination of relationships. Do i need to use cloth? I admit i don't know anything about cloth yet other than the flag waving tutorial. Here is an embedded project. Thank You. ski_lift_embed_all.prj

I have a chor with lots of sprites and hair. When the sprites and hair are turned on to realtime shaded in the chor view, it's almost impossible to do anything because everything is slowed down to a crawl. As a matter of fact, if I forget to turn off the shaded view, save the chor and try to reopen AM with shaded hair and particles turned on, AM doesn't want to open at all, or it takes a very long time to do so. My problem is this: Since I can't work in the chor with realtime shaded turned on, I obviously turn that off. However, when I render, I want the hair and sprites to show, so I turn hair and particles to "ON". Once the render is complete, Hair and particl…

I'm working on a still, not an animation. I double checked, and there is no change over time in this still. All I am trying to do is render a semi realistic pine branch in a scene. Since I want to smooth the whole scene out, I'm initially using a 9x pass. The problem is the pine branch. There is obviously something going on that is causing this, I'm just not seeing what I'm doing wrong. Compare this to a TWO scene with a pine tree that has no blurring, but I bet it does have multipass? There is no motion blur or focal length change in the camera setting. Edit: After playing around with the hair material and not getting anywhere, I deleted it and created a…

I know that's a bit vague, but I've never baked hair before. I'm trying to bake the hair (tree leaves mostly) in that opening aerial shot in TWO. It's a big shot and it will take many minutes to compute the particles all the way to the last frame if I'm just scrubbing the timeline, but should baking the scene take much longer?

I dug out my Sgt. Tubbs character [the guy in my avatar pic.] and am trying to work with hair. After massaging it about [ in V.11, about six months agao] I discovered that even if I hid everything except the moustache, the hair applied itself to the whole model. Tonight, I copied the moustache into a new .mdl and applied the hair to it, thinking to bring Tubbs and it together in the choreography. The b/w pics are from the modeling window. The hairs are overly fine and I think I could do with fewer if I made them thicker. It's the choreography that has me boggled. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what I see in the model window. I tried to do a screen r…

Hello- In the properties panel you can turn on "Glow" for a group. It seems you can either turn "Glow" "ON" or "OFF". I tried searching the database but couldn't find an answer to the question, "What if you want a "Glow" to grow,... over time?...from nothing to a bright glow... Is there a way to do this without making two different renders...one with the glow "ON" and one with the glow "OFF" ...and then just cross dissolve the renders in another program like AfterFX? Thanks for any insights Tom

I've spent the best part of the last two days trying to make the X-Machine float alongside The Sentinel. On the first try, it and the umbilical were part of the Beast model. There was a chain of 10 bones starting at Beast's pelvis and running out to the X-Machine. This didn't work because Beast has a rolling waddle, and this just yanked the machine left and right. It appeared to be firmly mounted on a curved pole which was bolted to the saddle. Also, moving the machine always kinked the chain and fine-tuning each bone was going to take years. Then I cut the machine and cable out of the model and broke it into two parts: machine and cable and Translated them to Beast. Same…

I have a choreography that at one time had a sound file in it (approx 1600 frames worth) I deleted the sound file from chor I deleted all keyframes from the chor - so that the only key frames are on frame 0 and frame 180ish I want to use this chor as a starting chor for subsequent chors as it contains starting models, camera, lights, render settings, etc. I add a new sound file (about 180 frames), change the starting chor length to be 180. I save this chor. When I restart A:M and bring this chor back into A:M, the chor length is still 1600? But there is no sound file, no keyframes past 180. I need to be able to save the chor length correctly in each…

this is the continuation of this topic I can't open a new poll in it then I had to create this new topic thanks for voting ... Well, you had 2 weeks for voting. The choice car to be modeled was the BMW 7 Sedan. I posted a new poll, regarding of the value to be paid for the tutorial. Your answer is quite important. The modeling of a basic mech model, in a direct way, uses all the beginnigs that are used in an advanced mech model. You understanding how works the parts and splines, you will be apt to model any type of car... The tutorial will cover : - Modeling - Texturing - Lighting

Hey Hashers! I'm sure this has been posted somewhere, so I apologize if that's the case. Does anyone have a step by step on how to utilize multicore rendering? A way to render multiple frames at once? I can't seem to figure it out. I work on both Macs and PCs. Would there be a different way for each or are they the same? Thanks in advance! Shawn

Hi all I need some help on how to separate a photo into 2 parts and then, how to use the 2 new images with AM to create the effect of a model in the original photo. photo 1 An example would be of Victor Navone and his model in front of his computer. photo2 I have worked with Photoshop for several years but never messed with masks or alpha channels so does anyone know where I can find a simple tut. on how to separate the fence? Then to create a project in AM with 2 layers and my model?

Last summer I wanted to make a couple of short live-action videos of the Hulk. I started, but because of school in the fall, my project was halted! Now that I finished my first year of college i'm ready to start the project up again. Here's what I've done so far. Modeled a Hulk: Okay, I didn't really model it. I saw the one that came with my AM v11.1 and I knew I could mess with a little. All I did was a little smartskin tooling around, added hair, and gave him a little more texture. Is it the best Hulk ever? No, but it'll suffice for my thirst to entertain myself this summer before boot camp. If anyone can help me out with the model, please do. I'm still an ama…

I've been bending these splines forever. It started out as a project to learn AM. The modeling is essentially finished unless someone notices a glaring flaw. The head and body were modeled and decaled separtely. I wonder if the proportions and the decaling aren't matched? I'm not finished texturing and the hair is still preliminary.

Hi. Ive been wanting to expand my modeling skills. So I started modeling a human... My friends has a student ver. of zB.. uhm a program and let me install it on my laptop. I created a 1200 Patch base mesh in A:M and used the OBJ exporter and exported it out to the.. other program. I then sculpted it there and brought it back in, though I had to do a lot of resolution changes in the polymesh to have a clean convert to patches. The model that I use between the programs to work on has 21k patches, just at the threshold of what I needed. Here is where I am at: These to rendered at 1min15sec 5pass at Super35 each. Wires: I am enjoying this process very muc…
