A:M Forum Rules
GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!
-Ask questions about the software.
-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).
-Post links to your work, or where your art is being used online (on websites, in games, toons', etc.)
-Search the A:M Forum and FAQ. The question you are about to ask may have already been answered.
-Organize and inform others about user groups, IRC chats, image and animation contests, job opportunities, etc.
-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.
DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com
-Do Not reprimand other forum members for violating forum rules, that's the moderators job, which (unless you are a moderator) you are not.
-No complaining or whining on the forum or distribution of misinformation.
-No flames of any kind.
-No Off Topic posts. (Posts in the Off Topics section should be related to A:M in some form or fashion or benefit the A:M community as a whole).
-No soliciting of any kind without prior approval.

-No "me too!" posts
-No discussion of Hash Internal Affairs (finances, advertising, PR.)
-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)
-No very general questions like: "how do I make a good 3D model" make your questions as complete and concise as possible.
If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

Hi - I think I had this problem before, but did a couple of searches and can not find it... so maybe not. When I click on my character in the project workspace the "main" bone I guess it would be is huge and seems to get selected on accident because it is so large - can I shrink this down w/o shrinking down the character? It isn't the "root" bone - because when I click on that it is a normal size. Thanks - Eric

I have Animation Master 15.0b (Universal), and I'm using it on a Dual-Core Intel Mac Pro running OS X Leopard version 10.5.7. I installed AM from the disc. Now when I try to launch AM I get an error message that says "Please Run Program With the Current Subscription CD In The CDROM drive!" Is it possible to run AM from the hard drive without keeping my Super Drive tied up by always needing the disc in it?

John Bailey Exercise 1 4/10/06 Here's my first submission. Hope everything works. I wasn't quite sure what the assignment was exactly, so the I just formed the pose by using only the Pose sliders. I did cheat a little to get both of Keekat's feet aligned on the ground (the rig slider leaves his right foot slanted and that bothered me). I didn't animate him. http://media.putfile.com/Exercise-1-44

Hi, it may be sound stupid but I've been searching the help doc, the tutorial resources and the forum and haven't found it. I have 2 cameras in a choreography and I want to render it with the first camera for (example) 10 seconds and the second camera for 15 seconds. How do I switch? also, is it possible to ask to play choreography2 right after choreography1? thanks tido

I'm having trouble making my character jump from one platform to the next. I made a jumping action sequence in action. In choreography I made a path from one pad to the next, I gave the character a constraint to the path, drag and dropped the action sequence onto the character but when i pressed play the character did the jumping sequence still on the first pad then popped onto the next. Can anyone help me?

Why does the Objects lines kink between the controlsin the v12? In v11.1 2005 the lines had a nice curve to them. With the new ones, will we have to put more control points. Maybe there is a setting in the options I hav'nt found. Here is a shot to show what I mean. Can any body explain? Thanks[attachmentid=13811]

I'm new to AM and really have no desire to design or model, I primarilly do this as a hobby, my interest is animation using existing models and characters. I started out using Daz and found its animation tools were limited, switched to Poser and again found it also had its limitations and frustrations. My goal was to create a DVD intro for my home theater hobby. I wish to create short animations that would describe the genre of the movie that would be playing i,e. adventure, horror, sci fi etc. Since I've collected many different theme models and scene's made by Daz, poser and 3dmax, I'm now wondering if these models can be inported into AM for animation. After many …

As I mentioned before I'm working on a new comic that we want to add around the first of the year. I'm trucking along with the models which are pretty much just letters with arms and legs but I had a question or two. Is there a good set of large, expressive eyes (something cartoonish like Keekat or Mickey Mouse) with the bones and maybe some presets out there that I could paste into these models without too much difficulty (and without any problems with me using the eyes for commercial applications)? I did my TAO lessons on adding a rig but that was a really basic lesson and I've not been about to figure out how to add things like EYE Targets or even complex joints …

I'm not a new user but this seems the most appropriate place to ask(?) I have a character and I made some shades for her. It would be fine if I just assigned them to the head bone of the rig but If I want to have the flexibility to have them moveable in an action how should I constrain them ? Would it be best to have them as an action object. If so how should they be constrained to the head ? or I've tried to assign the shades to bones in the original mode but don't know how to constrain them to the head in the action. Is it a parenting question ? Thank you for your help simon

Special animation tool "Paste Mirrored": I copied keyframes then paste mirrored at all the appropriate frames, then, at the end, I pasted the first keyframe. Problem is, there are no frames past 00:00:15, but the end frame should be 00:01:10. I got his little eyes bouncing around, his ears wiggling and his tail moving in such a way that'll drive all the little girl rabbits nuts, but I think I'm being shortchanged on my frames; I should have more. But then, that's what she said.

Ok, I know this has been covered many times.....I have v15, and I downloaded the data file. The models appear, some of the actions appear, two materials appear. Everything from my Extra CD appears. I can't get my materials and actions to show up. I know I did the file location correct, because I have my extra CD's data in my libraries. Any ideas? I'm on a Mac using 10.4 Thanks

I saw in the manual that AM can import a DXF 'with a lot of work'. Is this the end of the story... or perhaps there is a ocnversion tool that support AM model format? Or - are there upcoming releases with new import/export abilities? Can AM use BVH files? Also - I have not yet used AM - is there a demo/eval version? I missed the link if there is. And - the Tech Ref links to pdf/chm files on http://www.hash.com/2007web/reference.htm are dead - is the PDF available? Thanks

Hey everyone, This is a basic question I have about the channels under the choreography of the PWS. Specifically the choreography action channels for the characters bones/controls keys. I have a character that I've animated in the choreography already. BUT...the bone/ control keys are seperated by unrelated controls..... Is there a way the move the channels around so that all the say.....left wing controls are stacked together. This will allow for much easier selection and tweeking the keys. Is this possible to do? Hi all, Wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good online file storage site? I'll need one to place some of these finished TAoAM projects... I've done a google for them, but to be honest, I'm not sure which is reliable, secure, etc. I've tried one in the past and it seemed fine - until I tried referencing files I'd uploaded there. It started blocking the files (and it was nothing copyrighted). When I logged in to check on the files they were deleted. So I really don't want to find another one where they mess with, block or lose your files like that.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Mike

Hi - to get some more modelling experience, I am working on my first "real" character who actually has a mouth that isn't against a flat face. ;-) The rat is a request from my 3 year old - All well as modelling experience I am trying to get more experience with hair. I currently have the following set up for the body hair Do I set up another hair system or another hair emitter under this one - or a new material? Or is it even possible to do? Hello, I'm currently working on a school project about the properties of skin, but i'll go into that in another thread. Right now I'm having some difficultues wity A:M. I tried using a tearrain plug-in, but then a pop up came up saying "insufficent storage space" and my computer crashed. Now when I open A:M and click ANYTHING a pop up shows up saying "Realtime Rendering Difficulties". I don't know what Raltime Rendering is, but from speculation it can't be good. But the worst is my deadline! I'm sitting at my desk ready to pull my hair out, Masna

How does this work? Sometimes I seem to be able to do it but others... not so much. I can drag select a "group" in the chor and move those items but it doesn't put in a key frame for translation. I need to move about 200 model shortcuts together as a unit and key frame the translation. After selecting them all if I use the arrow keys or type in the translation properties only the last one selected will move. In the past I've been able to select a bunch of chor objects this way to set "Active" on or off... but after awhile it stops working. Any help appreciated. -vern

I created a simple gear. I made a 360 degree rotation action that takes four seconds to make a complete rotation. When I drop the gear into a choreography things go wonky. The chor only runs for one second instead of four. Here are snap shots of the properties: If I can't get this to work for just one revolution, how will I be able to use it in an extended choreography? Thanks.

Would some one look at this picture and tell me why the red blob appears in the model window? It has no CPs, there is no way to grab it. If it is the fluid material then I would think that it should only appear in the choreography window.
