Hi Guys Big favor to ask: I am at work and won't be in front of my home computer until 17:30 / 5:30 PM CST -6 GMT If I submit a trial request at that time could I get an answer by 19:00 / 7:00 PM? AM v19 keeps crashing with an error saying "Nvidia has encountered a problem and must close" it used to only happen occasionally but now cant even open AM at all because of it. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

My short A:M-animated film "Garrett" has been selected for showing at another film festival - the Ft. Myers Film Festival this March 21-25. A few weeks back I learnt about Multiple master in V17 and have used it extensively when rendering. Upgraded to V18 two weeks ago and went to use Multiple Master in it today but couldn't find it. MultipleMaster.scpt But no.app. My guess is that needs to be activated. Could somebody kindly explain how ? regards simon Ps One of the reasons for wanting to run MM is that an import of a 3DS model is taking a very long time is that common ? The subject of Desired Gamma came up and I was unable to get my software to cooperate at the time, so, I made an attempt at a video explanation of the little I know that I am posting here along with the Projects used and renders. One thing I still don't think I got across in the video is that if you are working with 2.2 gamma images, the gamma correction can get re-applied automatically with each iteration causing the image or portion of image (and colors) to lighten. Hi, I've already Emailed Support and Stephan directly, but yesterday when I went to renew my sub there was an error at purchase confirmation that read as though the order hadn't been accepted. I tried another couple of times and got the same error. Giving up I went back to my account summary and saw I'd been charged for 3 subscriptions! I later got order confirmations for all 3 subs but I only need 1 and it's my wife's credit card I need this sorting as quickly as possible so she doesn't get annoyed at me. I seem to recall a simplemethod for doing this... Perhaps someone can set me on the right path. I have a material that is saved as two different materials. The main difference between the two is that one is set with displacement and the other is for color. Both materials can then be applied to a group to better control the texture. That's not part of the problem... just a little background/setup. I dropped the color material onto a different group in the model and tweaked the settings. I like the changes so want to keep that new material. The issue is how to save/export that material as a new material. If I stepped away from the computer for awhile the a…

Seems that the AM colour picker does not allow for entry of the full range available apps (Paint.net, Photoshop, Gimp etc) or it uses its own scale. The colour I want is R 209, G 154, B 98 but do you think AM will let me enter 209 - No. So what do I do to try to match colours? Actually it looks like a defect with the colour picker value entry fields - they restrict users to 2 digits only....

In the distant past I vaguely recall that it was possible to save an animation in a chor and edit it as an action file before reapplying in a chor ? But can't remember how to do it, can anyone kindly point me in the right direction? Baking actions seems to add a key on every frame, is there a way to just save the keys already set without adding further in the baking process ? I'm trying to do a dance sequence and, rather than redo it all, would like to use it as an action so I can get several figures doing the steps at the same time. regards simon Edit I found how to do it, clicking in PWS and selecting,EXPORT as Action. I've often made use of the ability to hide CP's in the object so they don't show in the cho when animating, hiding the rest of the body when checking two figures hand positions in a dance sequence for example. I wondered if there was a way to set that up using pose sliders so as to get a timelapse effect ? What I want to do is to hide parts of a house and have them revealed over time so as to get a time lapse effect. It would be possible to do it with iterated models, substituted as the the chor progressed (?) but I wondered if it was possible to hide the cps viapose sliders or another mechanism ? simon

I'm trying to animate a ball spinning on a finger and wondered what might be the best way to achieve that ? Tried using the repeat option in the graph editor under post interpolation but with no joy. Presently keying it every frame to rotate through 176-9 degrees. Is there another possible way to do this ? Any help gratefully received. regards simon

Modeled a column for my Guardian set and got to the difficult part of having the rounded divets on the ends of the fluting. I could have just faked it, but I went ahead and worked it out. This might not be the best solution, but this worked for me.

Hey all, quick question: What's the single PC upgrade that has the most effect on how fast A:M runs with a complicated chor on the screen/s? Got a 8-core with 16g ram, but only a 750GTX as a vid card. Would a newer video card make make it smoother rotating the landscape, etc? Thanks, Rich

Although I have Amv16 updated to v17 I have another error. It's not this version, but the earlier versions. You can ask why I want them both, but lots of files are twitched in versions. After installing Am v.11 I can update to v.12. When I do so, the the program bumps telling the disk isn't in the cdrom. Of course It is version v11 in the cdrom, but what is stopping the update? I thought it would be updated with the old disk in the cdrom. Also the update wants files from the ftp site, but that fails. It seems the site isn't there anymore, so how can I obtain these files? regards

Hi everybody! Just wanted to post this on the off chance anyone wishing to use A:M on a Mac wonders if you can use Parallels to run the Windows version of A:M on a Mac. I'm working on the third (and last!) of my Stalled Trek films and wanted to see if I could make use of some of my old files for extras on the boxed set I'm making, so I purchased a subscription to A:M and tried to use it in Parallels. I'm using a Mac Studio with an M1 Max chip on Monterey. This is version 19.0P of A:M. The chief issue is presumably graphic card related: It's possible to see a model and tumble the view in wireframe, but shaded view doesn't work. (see screenshot.) …

Hello Hashers- I have a choreography with multiple windows open and they have thin red borders inside (see pic). When I click inside the window, the red borders disappear and then come back. The function of "Clone CP Weights" is to copy the CP weights from one model to the exactly matching CPs in a target model. Question: What is the purpose of the checkbox for "Reassign target model CPs"? If I uncheck it, no CP weights get changed, which is the same as not using the plugin at all. @yoda64 I did watch the tut by @itsjustme but I didn't see it address that questions.

A long time ago, in a different thread it was explained how to use Frame burn as a post effect to get the timecode burned in at render time. I should have thought of it before but, I rendered a sequence overnight and now need to go back and correct the errors. Frame Burn would have helped in that. Drat ! So it seemed it might be possible to do in a composite way by putting the renders on a layer and putting Frame Burn on those renders? However, when looking at them the file name is there but not the 00:00:00 time code sequence. The post effect is active, applied in the render settings is there another step I'm missing ? simon

I am realizing that this simple concept (Bone Falloff) is eluding me in ways I can't quite express. Is there a reference or example of ideal use for Bone Falloff? Alternatively, perhaps someone can walk me through a basic usage scenario? This is opposed to CP weighting except that I assume CP weighting is actually a means to define/refine Bone Falloff. Sorry if this is too vague a question. It seems to me that Bone Falloff should be a very simple concept and yet that simplicity eludes me. As such I'm looking for a very basic use case/example that demonstrates the basics.

I am about to upgrade to V17 and presently run an Imac. My understanding is that 64bit is not available for the Mac as yet (?) but wondered what the advantages of 64bit over 32 bit are ? The reason for the question is that, if the benefits are worth while I was thinking of getting a PC laptop with W7 64bit and either getting my brother ( techy to the extreme ) to make it dual boot with OSX or use it to render work made and animated on the Imac. Hello, After a year of resumption of AM I start to resume modeling and rigging reflexes. How nice to use this software! But I still have a lot of questions 1 - I am rigging a humanoid and I use a lot of smartskins which allow to assign positions to the vertices according to the angle of rotation of a bone. This allows me to have stages of intermediate object shapes. Having a spot of bother with patches going missing. I have prepared a street model for the new project using V15 Copied the model file and the chor over onto another machine using V17J to build up a town using the duplicator wizard When I open up the file in V17 alot of the patches go missing Previously I have modeled in V15 and imported into V17 without trouble. I am wondering if I could generate a height map from objects in a scene. What I want to ultimately do is create one grayscale image that can be used as a displacement or height map. I have a small laser engraver that seems capable of carving from grayscale images into various materials such as wood, plastic etc. I'm also thinking of doing carvings to make molds from for pewter castings. Thoughts?

I had let my version 16 expire back in november and had to use my version 12 cd version these past few months . So I had forgotten how nice 16 was. Today I finally got version 17 and have to say --wow its so much nicer than 12 --by light years. ANd renders seem faster than 16 . The render speed seems very fast indeed. My only thoughts for anyone with 12 or older for sure ....just toss that aside and upgrade asap ----you will be very happy indeed . Its AM yummyiness. Nice job developer(s). Smiles . Now on to having some fun.

A few months back I asked a question about accidental changes of bones heirachy in the chor. The problem is that, it is sometimes possible to change the heirachy by accidentally dragging the bone in the PWS. If you spot it before going too far you can revert but, if not, you get the problem illustrated here. The heel has become part of the knee heirachy. My recollection is that, the only way to overcome that, was to delete the bone, then go back in and reset the keys at the appropriate points ? Have been working away on the dance sequence and saving iterations as I go . Only have 10-15 seconds to go ( out of 90 ) so a bit reluctant to go back and…

For a 2D animation spline, A:M stores the bias as gamma and magnitude. What are those values and how do I convert them to a 2D vector? Apparently the gamma is the value of a trigonometric function, but which one?

I get a crash everytime - with fakeaoCPU with ver17 32bit (most recent release), even with a simple chor (1 sphere) Anyone else getting it to work? Is it just me? As mentioned elsewhere, have been having a lot of tech troubles recently, had thought they were behind me now and to get on with something new(ish) but have hit a problem with alpha channels in TGA files. First a bit of background. I'm working in V18 within OSX 10:8.5. on a Mac mini, I7, 2.3ghz with 4Gb of Ram. Just rendered two scenes to TGA with the figure set against an empty background ( ready for compositing later ). All was well until I opened them in Photoshop, to find that the background had rendered as black rather than transparent. I'm attempting to add parts to a model in a choreography using multiple actions, each action containing many action objects. When I add the first action, all the objects within it appear in the chor. But if I add another action, the previous one disappears. I read the manual about action objects and assumed the problem was related to "Hold last frame", "Transition to next action" and "Blend method". I thought the best combination was ON, ON & ADD. However I can only see one of the actions if the "Hold last frame" of the other is turned OFF. What am I missing?

Hello. I just returned to the A:M Forum because something weird happend to my 3D viewport. A red font apeared on my screen (I don't even know what I pressed, but it suppose was a big mistake and I know it has to do with keyfreaming). I think this is a very stupid question but how do I get that off? I would be glad if you could explain to me. If I'm not very clear, here's the thing Im talking about.

I got a one year subscription to 18 F last friday and have been using it over the weekend. I wondered if anyone else is have a few glitches with it ? The first one I noticed was that it crashed out if the maximum resolution was used for the maps in a z buffer render ? It came with a message saying Memory allocation failute 11 ( I think ) If a lower z buffer was chosen it was OK. but the maximum crashed each time it was tried. The second glitch came when trying to "save animation as" after rendering a sequence. The dialogue box would appear but non of the buttons woulld respond when clicked on. Tried exiting the program, restarting, importing sequence…

So I suspect this is another Mac only bug but has any one else found that in v18 & v18a in Bones Mode that none of the bones are coloured? Also a strange inverted representation of the model's bones, composed of circles? Before I file a bug report I thought I would see if others have had problems too. Here's some screen shots of what I consistently see in v18.
