When I first tried my Wacom stylus pad with A:M on my Windows 10 Surface Pro 4, I got some pretty wacky, annoying behavior (not caused by A:M, BTW). The following tricks cleared up these problems. How to get nice performance from a Wacom stylus pad on Windows 10: A few things to disable: In the search window on the Windows Settings page type "flicks" and select "turn flicks on and off". This opens the "Pen and Touch" configuration window. (For some reason typing "Pen and Touch" only provides you "pen and touch information", which is not the window you want.) On the "Flicks" tab, uncheck "Use flicks to perform common actions quickly and easily"--hope you don't…

Hi, I've already Emailed Support and Stephan directly, but yesterday when I went to renew my sub there was an error at purchase confirmation that read as though the order hadn't been accepted. I tried another couple of times and got the same error. Giving up I went back to my account summary and saw I'd been charged for 3 subscriptions! I later got order confirmations for all 3 subs but I only need 1 and it's my wife's credit card I need this sorting as quickly as possible so she doesn't get annoyed at me. Plus it told me the orders hadn't been accepted so it's not like I deliberately bought 3 subs. Anyway the 3 order numbers are 8277, 8278 and 8279. I have act…

Hey all, quick question: What's the single PC upgrade that has the most effect on how fast A:M runs with a complicated chor on the screen/s? Got a 8-core with 16g ram, but only a 750GTX as a vid card. Would a newer video card make make it smoother rotating the landscape, etc? Thanks, Rich

Hi there, the new forum design looks great! I didnT find a section for techincal questions though, so i put it here. and wheres the whats new button now? I am still on AM 15h and discovered surfacebaking bbut: sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Any ideas what factors might influence that. Ram and grapics and render power shouldnt be the problem. Maybe some oldtimeuser has made similar expiriences and found the solution? Thanks for any help

Hello All, This is probably easy for most, but I haven't done this on the Mac version for a while. It's always consistent on the PC version How do I import a DXF, 3DS, or OBJ in the modeling window in v19? I need to make MDL files. I've already decimated them with MeshMixer to make them less dense. On the PC it's always the same way - r-click in the modeling window, choose plugins -> import -> and the model type ...easy as pie On the Mac version there is no plugin choice in the r-click menu of a model or the choreography. All I get is the standard import sub-menu. In the old days it was a 3rd party plugin that you had to download and pla…

I've often made use of the ability to hide CP's in the object so they don't show in the cho when animating, hiding the rest of the body when checking two figures hand positions in a dance sequence for example. I wondered if there was a way to set that up using pose sliders so as to get a timelapse effect ? What I want to do is to hide parts of a house and have them revealed over time so as to get a time lapse effect. It would be possible to do it with iterated models, substituted as the the chor progressed (?) but I wondered if it was possible to hide the cps viapose sliders or another mechanism ? simon

Hi Elm, As far as I understand it (please correct my if I am wrong Jason) there are two version available: - A:M Subscription for 1 year ($79.99) - Never expiring version ($299.00) Both are download-products today. (only manual + ExtraDVD can be selected to be shipped with the never expiring version). Both are software-dongled to one computer per license. > Infos on hash.com: A:M Versions See you *Fuchur* It isn't a dongle. Don't misled. The hash.com software details page should also be corrected. A few weeks back I learnt about Multiple master in V17 and have used it extensively when rendering. Upgraded to V18 two weeks ago and went to use Multiple Master in it today but couldn't find it. MultipleMaster.scpt But no.app. My guess is that needs to be activated. Could somebody kindly explain how ? regards simon Ps One of the reasons for wanting to run MM is that an import of a 3DS model is taking a very long time is that common ? Appreciate it varies per model but, have left the machine chewing it over and its stayed on 20% for the past 16 hours and counting... OBJ import was a lot smoother and quicker. The results make me appreciativ…

In the distant past I vaguely recall that it was possible to save an animation in a chor and edit it as an action file before reapplying in a chor ? But can't remember how to do it, can anyone kindly point me in the right direction? Baking actions seems to add a key on every frame, is there a way to just save the keys already set without adding further in the baking process ? I'm trying to do a dance sequence and, rather than redo it all, would like to use it as an action so I can get several figures doing the steps at the same time. regards simon Edit I found how to do it, clicking in PWS and selecting,EXPORT as Action. Hey guys, I don't know if this is a bug and worth reporting, but just recently I've noticed objects aren't staying where I tell them to be. Let me explain, I've been building a throne room and I want a row of pillars running down the centre of the room. I've positioned a pillar and then to make sure the next one lines up I go into the properties, get the x co-ordinate and enter into the next pillar. I repeat this for say the next 5 pillars with just the z co-ordinate changed. So here's the weird thing. Say I set all the pillars to x=90 all along the row. If I then click on say pillar 2 its x co-ordinate may have shifted to say 89.89 or 90.12, just a random shift to t…

Seems that the AM colour picker does not allow for entry of the full range available apps (Paint.net, Photoshop, Gimp etc) or it uses its own scale. The colour I want is R 209, G 154, B 98 but do you think AM will let me enter 209 - No. So what do I do to try to match colours? Actually it looks like a defect with the colour picker value entry fields - they restrict users to 2 digits only....

A few months back I asked a question about accidental changes of bones heirachy in the chor. The problem is that, it is sometimes possible to change the heirachy by accidentally dragging the bone in the PWS. If you spot it before going too far you can revert but, if not, you get the problem illustrated here. The heel has become part of the knee heirachy. My recollection is that, the only way to overcome that, was to delete the bone, then go back in and reset the keys at the appropriate points ? Have been working away on the dance sequence and saving iterations as I go . Only have 10-15 seconds to go ( out of 90 ) so a bit reluctant to go back and…

I had let my version 16 expire back in november and had to use my version 12 cd version these past few months . So I had forgotten how nice 16 was. Today I finally got version 17 and have to say --wow its so much nicer than 12 --by light years. ANd renders seem faster than 16 . The render speed seems very fast indeed. My only thoughts for anyone with 12 or older for sure ....just toss that aside and upgrade asap ----you will be very happy indeed . Its AM yummyiness. Nice job developer(s). Smiles . Now on to having some fun.

One of the things I enjoyed while in Japan was discovering books and magazine devoted to Animation:Master. I think I once told the (rather humorous) story about how my family was on vacation and my father in law and I stepped into a bookstore and because it turned out to be an 'adult' bookstore I didn't really find much of anything worth buying except a few random kids books but once back on the road he revealed he had purchased a video. Curious to see what he had purchased I inquired and immediately went into shock upon seeing the cover of the video... he'd purchased the Haruwo video by Shao Guee that I had a (small) part in subtitling/translating into English (I was …

Having a spot of bother with patches going missing. I have prepared a street model for the new project using V15 Copied the model file and the chor over onto another machine using V17J to build up a town using the duplicator wizard When I open up the file in V17 alot of the patches go missing Previously I have modeled in V15 and imported into V17 without trouble. The warning message comes up, but there has never been a problem. This time there was no warning, but it did have a problem. Can anyone kindly suggest a solution ? simon Street Block 01.mdl

I am realizing that this simple concept (Bone Falloff) is eluding me in ways I can't quite express. Is there a reference or example of ideal use for Bone Falloff? Alternatively, perhaps someone can walk me through a basic usage scenario? This is opposed to CP weighting except that I assume CP weighting is actually a means to define/refine Bone Falloff. Sorry if this is too vague a question. It seems to me that Bone Falloff should be a very simple concept and yet that simplicity eludes me. As such I'm looking for a very basic use case/example that demonstrates the basics.

Before I begin trying to find the source of this bug I'd like some opinions as to what might be happening. Attached are two "versions" of four sequential TIF files (545 through 548) from an on-going Netrender job. If there is a "b" (for bad) in the filename it is the first frame rendered by any one of the my four cores. If there is a "g" (for good) it was either not a Netrender first frame or it could be any frame rendered within A:M itself. I've numbered the files so you can sequentially show them bad, good, bad, etc. When I cycle through them on my monitor, the bad ones seem a bit darker and noisier but nothing that says "obviously this is what's wrong"; they're ju…

Hello. I have mainly moved over to trying to use drawn and stop frame processes for projects. However, wanted to use volumetrics for a particular shot and returned to the fold for that. Unfortunately I'm having a lot of bother getting a consistent result. The shot was set up and tested using quick renders to check progress. All seemed well until I tried to render it out as a QT file. This is a screenshot of what was supposed to happen and this is the QT file. Clearly very different. When rendered as a single frame jpg it refuses to save the file, as apng it does not parse the file into readable form, this is a tga converted in PS. …

Having learnt a lesson with the Teddy Bear now trying to CP weight his partner. It is a very long, tedious, involved process. Would it be possible to make a feature request ?I have read a few tutorials on how to do it but may have missed something ( ?) The process appears to be that you select the cp's in muscle mode and then add %values to vary the weighting ? Two factors make it a bit tedious for me, 1. When you select a bone in the dialogue window the same bone does not always show up the selection box below ( see screen shot ), so you then have to scroll through a long list to make sure the correct one is listed. That gets a bit tired after awhile.…

A long time ago, in a different thread it was explained how to use Frame burn as a post effect to get the timecode burned in at render time. I should have thought of it before but, I rendered a sequence overnight and now need to go back and correct the errors. Frame Burn would have helped in that. Drat ! So it seemed it might be possible to do in a composite way by putting the renders on a layer and putting Frame Burn on those renders? However, when looking at them the file name is there but not the 00:00:00 time code sequence. The post effect is active, applied in the render settings is there another step I'm missing ? simon

Although I have Amv16 updated to v17 I have another error. It's not this version, but the earlier versions. You can ask why I want them both, but lots of files are twitched in versions. After installing Am v.11 I can update to v.12. When I do so, the the program bumps telling the disk isn't in the cdrom. Of course It is version v11 in the cdrom, but what is stopping the update? I thought it would be updated with the old disk in the cdrom. Also the update wants files from the ftp site, but that fails. It seems the site isn't there anymore, so how can I obtain these files? regards

My next "It Can't Be Done" series will be on Simcloth in A:M. (I'm going to award myself a book by Martin Hash for suggesting that topic. ) Cloth seems to be one of those things that people find very enticing when they see it but very frustrating when they try it themselves. I think a series that builds up the knowledge base from the basics to the useful tricks would be a good thing. Here is your chance to suggest particular cloth things that you would like to see solutions for. i probably won't get to this until July, after the Image contest so you have time to think about what you want to see. tJRN4-A5I5E And if you didn't cat…

I am wondering if I could generate a height map from objects in a scene. What I want to ultimately do is create one grayscale image that can be used as a displacement or height map. Hello All- Just thought I would upgrade to the 64bit version of AM and try using version 17.0g. Overall the speeds are great however I discovered when I try to render avi movies I get an error message, "AVI file create stream error". Also discovered that there are no options to render QuickTime movies in this version. Does anyone know if there is a fix for the avi rendering or if QuickTime rendering is planned for the future? Hi. I just upgraded to version 18 and I am trying to import a video to use as a rotoscope for compositing. It appears that version 18 no longer supports .mov files. Is that the case? When I try a .avi file I get an error message that the file is corrupted or not a type supported. The same files work perfectly in version 15 (which I know is a big gap as far as versions go.) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Working in V15, OSX 10.68 I'm trying to help a textiles student on the course I'm doing. She has some very elaborate designs which I decaled onto a very simple planar model of the 4metres x 2metres x 2 metres space. Her designs are 50cm by 50 cm, so I applied them once, and asked it to repeat them across the surface seamlessly. Unfortunately it came out with this effect. Rather than repeating them laterally and vertically it mirrored them symetrically. Is there a way around this or would I have to apply them all singley as separate stamps ? Any help gratefully received Simon I did a test with a simpler decal. G Test project.prj
