"Stolen Smells" is a children's book that was commissioned to be adapted into an A:M-animated short by the Anzovins. Using the same style of flat lighting as The Duel, it looks like they've managed to match the 2D look of the original book very closely, though the characters are fully animated models. Anyway, I've been looking forward to seeing this since I first read about it--it's always nice to see the different styles that A:M can be used for.

Hi all Just thought Id show you the amplifier I made for my virtual band.. any comments will be appreciated? Allrighty--here goes-- After doing tutorial after tutorial after tutorial, I decided that nothing original will ever get done unless I, well, start doing something original. So, based on many modeling tuts, I decided to try my hand at modeling a face. The face itself was done "freehand"--without rotoscopes, just pushing the mesh as I went. It's basically a 3d version of one of my standard margin doodles. Probably nothing further will ever come of this face--I just thought the exaggerated features would give me a chance to play and learn as I went--hopefully preempting future mistakes. I finished this character up last night. He's not rigged yet but for those interested he's using the new hair particle system. There are no decals here, only material combinations. He weighs in at around 1200 patches. He rendered in about 2 and a half minutes, resolution 640x400, multi-pass x 16. Okay Martin...there you go...like I promised. Comments are welcomed and encouraged. I appreciate any feed-back I can get. (Especially around the shoulder area.)

Hi. I have noticed some strangeness in hair from time to time and the attached file is an example of a current problem. Dynamics and collision detection are turned off yet I am getting this distortion occuring, as if collision detection were activated. Any ideas? This model still requires alot of work on the geometry and rig but I have a problem that someone may be able to shed some light on. For some reason the head bone refuses to work in an action or choreography. I have tried creating a pose slider to get around this but that refuses to work too. In the first clip called water.mov, you'll notice black speckles on the trees. I've narrowed this down to doing a final render with at least 4 passes and with "soften" on and of course having hair with targa files and a alpha channel. Most likely I could render this with A-buffer rendering without black speckles, but then the precedural bump on the water doesn't show. That would mean no water flow. The second clip has two segments. On the first segment, you'll see rippling in the water. That was done with an animated decal and setting the first and last frame in the choreography. Recently i have gotten the oppurtunity to do some more work for NASA ( no pay but it will look good on my resume). At the NASA Glenn research center several groups are working on designs for the modules to go back to the moon, one of the groups needs some modeling and animation done, and asked if i was up for it. Of course i accepted. Below is what i have done so far. I am going to have to make a few bump maps and diffuse maps for the lander, but it is pretty much done. Comments welcome, Ben. PS the legs are fully articulate, so are the radiator panels (the random black panels).

Step 1 make an oval path (oval)-stretched circle-name it Step 2 make outline of link (circle) name it adjust sizes Step 3 Choose path and then right click-plugins-sweeper choose extrude the link outline ok we now have a link-default name sweptobject Step3a depending how you made path you might have to adjust the link model to get it to orient right on path when you duplicate...remember use front view for drawing outline or positioning dup model ..position to center is reflected in position from path Step 4 Make chain path straight line (my link was ~100 chain path ~900 I chose 12 duplicates) roll each step 90 make sure you picked sweptobject ok - now chain.. …

Heya all, Long story short: my powerbook (G4 1.33GHz, 1.25 gig of ram, GeForce 5200 64 meg of video ram) died last month and I cobbled together a PC out of parts while waiting for Apple to figure out how to fix it. The PC: - GeForce 2 GTS (32 meg of video ram, AGP 1 or 2, I'm not sure) - 512 Meg of ram - 1.1 GHz athalon A friend of mine urged me to dust off my 2005 disc and try AM again on the PC, just to see, and wow! Ok.... Those of you that were following the other thread, I thought I would post the results of all my spline tweaking. after I had fixed the arm, I had noticed that the leg was jacked up too, so I fixed that. There's still a *tiny* glitch at the back of the leg, but the clay shader mostly hides it. I have attached a couple screenshots, I think you will agree that it looks much much better. I thought I would post this in both the showcase and the compositing forum. I've been working on some effects shots for a short film (56 minutes) Using animation master to animate smoke and shell casings. Though certainly my implementation could probably be improved on it doesn't look bad compared to the relatively dead and inactive look of the shots without any compositing. A couple of weeks ago, during the June-deal offer, I managed to upgrade my version of A:M from 10.5 to 13.0. And what a leap that was! While I still had the earlier version, I tried to make do with what I could - but one major setback was the uselessness of the hair feature. Now, somewhere in the advancement, I have since gained those new hair and grooming features that allow me so much more control over my hair and fur, to say nothing of the brilliant render quality! The file attached here shows the start and ending frames of a two-second clip of my alter-ego, Danbuster Cameronean Leadboot. He is posing for the camera in his own fun-loving crazy little way. It was intended for my avatar, though only a few frames now exist because of the limit. The wild blond hair is a hair emitter. I had to do it like that, because it was too difficult to accomplish fuzzy hair that sticks straight up using a mesh (as I have with my other models). I haven't been splining for a while so last night I decided to get some practice in. My motherboard on my modelling PC went south but I was able to salvage my model files by slaving the harddrive to my internet PC. I have been wanting to make a virtual reef aquarium. I made this lionfish in a few hour's but still have some tweaking to do as well as decaling. I thought it looked pretty good so far so I decided to start this thread and get some feedback. I was playing around with feathers and sprite emitters for something I am working on and thought this was pretty sweet. So I am posting it. I could not get the emitter itself to not render. It is turned off and does not show in the Chor but no matter how I rendered it, it would always be there. Oh well Feathers.mov

I have been asked to post a request for a dog model. We are in the final editing stage of our children's video, and how it happened I don't know, but we have overlooked the animated dog. Anyway the director asked me about modeling the dog and I can but I am animated the last sequence and they want the dog ready asap. And what can you do to avoid it? I've noticed that in a lot of models that I build, I am getting these problems and I am not sure what I could be doing better to avoid it. I don't think I am doing anything strange as I am building these models, but maybe there is something that I am doing that I am not realizing. Seems to me like I'd have to do a screen capture of one of my work sessions for anyone to be able to tell where I am screwing up. I am probably going to try and do the giraffe tutorial, maybe that will shed some light, however----I was making good progress and would possibly like to have a finished dragon model at the end of the day. help........ …

This is my first attempt at a car. Had to take a break from modeling my T-Rex. Didn't know where to start, so I started to model the view most people would see if they ever got close to one in real life. Just got V12.0 AM 2006 today and thought I'd see ii it feels any different than V11 2004. Modelling feels about the same but so far no gliches. I had out of memory issues with 11 so have been using 10.5. V12 appears to be a bit more comfortable although I have had no bad experiences with modelling in the earlier versions. I decided for my 1st model I would try to build my friends car. A 66 Malibu SS which I took pic's of for roto's about a year ago and also did some airbrush work on the car when he built it. Lot's of tweaking and fabricating to go as I plan to build the complete car and haven't done much mechanical modelling. I've seen some really nice car's built in this…

like many of us hashers i got board today just siting staring at my computer so i decided to try something in animation:master just to see how it would turn out and i like the results that came with it heres a movie i made with it [attachmentid=18361] i made the decal from a tutorial i found on the internet http://ryanw.michaelfrisk.com/ryan-w/tutor...nergy_ball.html then i aplyed it as a decal set it to bump and set the % to 150 set the time to two seconds and then just let it render stoneenergyball.zip
