Alright! AM Films is up and running now so I could submit it. I'm excited, my first 'short' on AM Films. It was fun to make, took a loong while, but fun nevertheless, I'm glad with the way it turned out . You can find it here Any comments or possible critiques would avsolutely be great to hear. It would be super cool to hear what you guys had to say. Thanks! And hope you like it! -Robert Lazzarini

In response to another Hasher's frustration with modelling mouse buttons without creases I had to have an attempt. (66 patches for two buttons).

I have a digital camera and took a few pictures of the office where I work and tried to add the free t-rex to a couple of pictures. This was the dino rendered in Am on black background ,cut in out then added to a layer in PS. In PS I copied just the desk to another layer then put that in front of the dino layer . Added a shadow layer effect and tried to do a reflective layer of the dino on the desk area. Is there any suggestions on how to do this better This seemed to work okay

Here's my first attempt at a charcter for a project that I have had rolling around in my brain for some time. This is just a beginning but I think I like the direction this is headed (no pun intended).

I know there are a couple of bits to smooth out in the motion but anyway... The rig is the Hash 2001 with a version of Mike Fitz`s brilliant `cogs` added for the knees, hips and elbows. The body has a bone in the belly for the bounce/follow through. Anzovins WeightMover was used for the entire upper body and nicely smoothed out the shoulders and belly etc. DadWalk

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share my current WIP with you all. I'm almost done with modeling at this point, and I'm about to move on to rigging and texturing. Any input is welcome, and I'll try not to procrastinate too long about updating the thread. Cheers Morgan

I have a new movie on my webpage: http://www.campbellanimation.com illustrating A:M's 'boolean's' cababilty in motion. This was a test I did last summer during the Logo contest so I used the A:M logo (my entry that is) in the test. Basicly, there is geometry (like an egg, or football) that is cutting and revealing other geometry in motion (the A:M logo)...the light streaks were done in AfterEffects using the 'shine' filter as an afterthought. If there is interest or questions I'll be happy to elaborate. It's actually quite straightforward- I keep referring to various A:M features as 'powerful stuff'...partly because I have been listening to some old 'Fabu…

WoooHooo! Pump'in out the render of this one object took almost 2 hrs on a 2.5 ghz processer. But that probably has something to do with the 136 light skydome hanging over top (Thank you Yves). This one took me about 12 hrs to model, which I'm happy with. This model will soon be available at www.TurboSquid.com for sale. Enjoy

So I am getting a little carried away. With A:M its very easy too! After doing "It's a Pitch" by the book, I thought "Wow, this is cool!" So, I just had to do some elaboration on this one. I am getting ahead of my self in many ways, but that drives the learning. Now I need to figure out how to switch to the 2nd camera for the next shot. I have it set up to aim at the rabbit for his walk to the door, but haven't figured out how to keyframe a camera switch. http://www.bitterjewelerfilms.com/Stuck%20Door.wmv

I added four cookie-cutter decals onto a model. Then I tried to have them dissapear. But in the rendered version their gone and the model is still there but in the choreography they're gone and the model's gone. So what am I doing wrong. I have included a prj file to specify. thunder_works.prj

here's a little animation I put up on AWfilms for kicks. It's the first project I've done with AW. I'm a 3D guy for some years now, but mainly polys. I'm really starting to like working with the splines. I know this isn't all that great, but I wanted to jump in and get my feet wet. Thought I'd see what advice or critique I could get from you guys. Thanks, CrawdaddyMovie

This is a character for yep you guessed it...a personal project that will take me the rest of my lifetime to finish. This is the second attempt at a human head I have made (the first was lost due to computer crash and having no burner). Hasn't been textured or anything (except a bump effect to sit in for the fleshy vibe). Due to the quality of the jpg I have just realized there is slight banding on the profile please disregard as this is not on the TGA. Thanks. Critique away. J p.s. the main reason for this post is because I usually make a vow on art forums NOT to critique someone elses work until I post something for others to critique of mine. …

Well just newbie photorealism Thanks to Mr Talbot for the model and the education Sure there are better students But perhaps this is the future a virtual Michael J in everyones living room Sure you have to use your VISA-card first but then he steps in to your own Holoverse http://www.holoverse.com/ Or shall we make some Iconoclasm? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iconoclasm Stop rendering the living and the dead? The question is for sure not so easy to answer. But think about it - feel about it? Comments welcome!

just mindlessly messing around with a couple hair systems. Painted a bush sprite and a grass sprite real quick, just to get them in there and get a feel for what might be possible down the line. Obviously you'd want a lot more variety in the images if you were doing something more serious.

Puh, Finally I managed to get a vespa with rolling wheels following a path. I had much trouble with this, that I canot really explain to myself. I guess I did many things wrong( for instance to going to the start of the animation first ), often when I fiddeled around ,I ended up with the vespa creeping really slow along the path or the wheels not moving at all, then when I deleted all actions to replace them, the path strangly jumped away and I frustradetly started all over with a new chor, often the playhandle didnt work and I had to restart the chor. But finally I got this. Now I have to go on to animating in the chor, next I have to find out how to set k…

Well, not all that epic. It took an hour to render. For some reason, the grass rendered weird unless I rendered it in Multipass mode. There are five dofferent hair emitters (grass, maiden grass, blakeyed susans, clover, and solomon's seal). The images for each emitter were created using Plant Studio 2(which is available for free from http://www.kurtz-fernhout.com/PlantStudio/ ) It will export plants as bitmaps that aren't antialiased, so they're perfect for image based hair. (It will also export in several 3d formats, and I've gotten 3d plants into A:M as props, but their surface attributes aren't editable, and they tend to look like they're glowing.) The…

Hey everybody, It's been awhile since I posted something new. I started working on a T. rex last year while i was unemployed, and then put it aside when I found work. I reexamined the model over the winter, I found it rather lacking by way of anatomical accuracy and effective rigging. So here's a brand new T. rex and a walk cycle to go along with it. Comments as always are welcome! T. rex walk cycle

Trying to see what users would be interested in regards to a simple animated material tut. I put this together to get sime ideas of simple things that can be done. I used the material combiner sine in this example in fact it is the same material with slightly different settings and colors on the handle and the globe of the wand. In the wand it is doing the displacement and in the globe the twirling colors. I did use a lens flare at the end. So if this is of interest let me know here. qt 47k mattest00.mov

http://www.hash.com/stills/displayimage.ph...up&cat=-1&pos=0 I was watching the DV garage tutorial on the crate, and I figured I'd try to make one. Instead of putting a logo on the first panel, I put "Caution: Carnivorous Plants" and that started the ball rolling. I made all the textures in photoshop (except for the $50, that pic came from the treasury department website), all of the wood materials came from pictures I've taken, and the grunge maps were all made from a pic of my oil tank! The concrete and bricks for the walls came off of a cd, but I had to do a lot to them to get them to look like that. Oh, and what's the best way to do some…

Hi fellow Hashers, Í've been awfully busy lately with my schoolwork but in my spare moments i managed to start the character that i was intetn on making when i bought A:M. His name is Richard Derry, he's a midle aged man who's depressed bc he has recently lost his wife. Here is the head WIP, i have yet to do the ears b finals are creeping up on me but i'll work on those as soon as summer vacation starts (june 16th). Meanwhile i would like to refine the face as much as possible before moving on. C & C are welcome. PS. i was in a rush so the shadows on the skylit render are only raytraced with one ray.

I know, making a tunnel, and have a camera flying trough is one of the very first ideas almost every AM artist comes up with, in an very early stage ... anyway, i deceided to do something like this, just for fun, again. The tunnel is a bit longer and the flyby will have about 1000 frames. The texture is a enhance Darktree (i can highly recomend Darktree and enhance Dartktree), and i used a bloom post effect on the camera. I am quite happy with the rendering. What i am thinking about, is to make the athmosphere more submarine like, have the fog a bit stronger and add some solwly drifting particles ... jsut an idea ... what do you think? cheers, Heiner

The modeling took about 2 hrs at most, then the rigging was about an hr, and render setup was bout 15 min. Rendered with radiosity it took about 50 minutes here he is

Hi Spliners, here you can find a short video - sequence ... in this sequence I'd tested the Hair - Forces. becurse of this, the gras is moving a bit to strange but it shows clearly my problem ... The whole mass of gras is moving in the same rhythm ... Is there a way to put a turbulence to the force or control the Mass with an Image like black has a mass of 1 and white a mass of 0.1? Or are there some other ideas of creating some turbulence in the grass? CU Maszie

Hey guys, even though I'm posting this in the WIP section, this is a finished deal, as I've taken this as far as I want to take it practice wise. From the comments - worked on the run cycle and redid the grab for one hand instead of 2... There are a few issue still, much coming from the fact that the run cycle on the path ended with the wrong foot for the jump to the pole... Anyhows, this was good practice for me. I rendered one with no blur and one with A-buffer blur. http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Run2PoleQA.mov http://www.vrcops.com/vids/Run2PoleBlurA.mov Later Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

It's obviously not finished but I am in the process of creating it for the 'Haunted House' film. I don't want to spend too much time on it because it was only written into the script for one gag!

Hello chaps, It just struck me that it's been almost 2 or 3 months since I last posted any work here and that I've mainly been commenting other peoples stuff. However, a new school year means new inspiration, so here goes. Here's my attempt at a semi-realistic human, male head. The forehead and backhead is still under work, so is his nose and his mouth(I don't like his mouth at all, it doesn't look good):
