Hi Spliners, here you can find a short video - sequence ... in this sequence I'd tested the Hair - Forces. becurse of this, the gras is moving a bit to strange but it shows clearly my problem ... The whole mass of gras is moving in the same rhythm ... Is there a way to put a turbulence to the force or control the Mass with an Image like black has a mass of 1 and white a mass of 0.1? Or are there some other ideas of creating some turbulence in the grass? CU Maszie

I just posted a trailer for my recently completed short "Skeeters". You'll find it at my site http://fleebagstudios.com. The cool thing is the film itself is showing Labor Day weekend at the North American Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival in Seattle(http://www.cascadiacon.org/Film%20Festival.htm). Show times are Friday, September 1, 11 AM; Saturday, September 2, 4 PM; and Monday, September 5, 10 AM. I will present my film at the Saturday showing. And of course Skeeters was made using A:M! Enjoy.

Hi guys, I donate this vehicle to this great comunity here for free use. I created many poses for every handling possible. Special thanks to David and Carlos for the Expression Wheel Rotate Tutorial. Please testdrive and examine this baby as hard as you can. Comments welcome. Maybe we could make a new comunity short animation project with it? Just an idea. By the way, I tried to write some notes and description in the fileinfo, no succsess. Is there some special trick to do so? I have tried deleting splines & re-adding them. This has solved a couple of the problem spots where I cannot make a 5 point patch. The others are stubborn...could I have some duplicate control points or something - if so how would I find them? Also, on four 5 point patches there are squiggly line artifacts even with porcelain. again - none of my attempts to fix have worked. Any suggestions? Problem_Shell.zip

With everybody making head models, I felt the urge to play with making one today, going for more realistic than I normally do. I borrowed the ear from my v3 Krok model. Not liking the mouth right now, but still, fun to mess with... I should point out that I model the whole head rather than doing that face mask thing.

Three animations I have been playing with over the last couple of years in the gallery at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~s_bruce/index.html Its the first time I have thrown a web page up so hopefully it all works. They are all exercises I have used to learn AM for another project. Although I am tempted to do some shorts with the frog. The Aloevera flower spike is 2 models. The stem and a bud which is attached to it 80 times. Took a while to render but not as bad as the frog which averaged 2.5 hrs per frame. I did have the frog down to 30 minutes per frame using a multipass light rig but had some problems with artifacts on displacement maps so dropped b…

Hey all!! Just wanted to have fun with a little character last night and put him into a scene. Now the scene is really something I slapped together and I'm not the greatest artist, but just wanted to put the character in a scene. Actually the background took like 30 minutes top but will be used for storyboard purposes. Satyajit modelled this cute little guy I created. I hope you like. He is for an upcoming 20 minute animation I'm working on. Not the main character but one of the many characters that will populate this little world. Let me know what you think. A little about the character: Bubba the Tengo Height: 3'4" Weight: 95 …

Hi pals, here is my character for the image contest about heroes. His name is "Toribio", but may be I change the name to "Torito" or "SuperT" or another. He is a defensor of the animals's rights and goes to the ruedo (arena) to fight with the toreros and save the condemned bull. Obviously, it's a joke, I do respect all the cultures but I love the animals and I do not like that the animals are mistreated. Now, I'm modeling the body, let me know what you think, any comments about the character and name are appreciated.

Hello! As always it has been a while since I've posted anything here but I have been lurking! I have a new project now that I figured I should post a WIP of. First a little background: As my forum handle suggests, I am a photographer. I shoot a lot of digital but have in the past year gotten into analog photography. I now shoot my own B/W film and develop myself. The very popular and famous film, Kodachrome, was discontinued last year by Kodak. This film which is truly unique will never be made again. Also the one lab in the world that can still process it will stop processing at the end of this year. I managed to get a hold of a single roll of K…

I am attempting to model the head of Gollum. I used a couple images from the web as rotoscopes and modeled from that. I think the head looks ok as a model (better than other stuff I've done) but the only problem is it does not really look like Gollum. Can anyone tell me what they think the problem is? Maybe his head is too boxy/square? Also, is it too spline heavy? Any ideas for where to lighten it up would be helpful as well. Thanks! Thanks for any input. I'm working on ananime inspired head, and looking for some input. I have in mind that it will be a young girl, but I want to use the same head, with changes, to make other characters. I'm fairly happy with the face, but I'm not sure about the hair. I want it to render quickly and be easy to animate blowing in the wind. Any suggestions would be great.

Made a proxy rig... all of the bones have dynamic constraints. In the chor I constrained (orient-like limbs/torso-- and the pelvis is translate-like) the rig(main bones/limbs) of the hero character to the dynamic bones of the proxy. This is the result: DynamicHitHardLg.mov

I need to build a model of K2 for a 9th grade science project. My teacher has authorized me to build it A:M rather than papier maché. I've attached a rough image I made from a topo map. It's not the final image for the displacement map, just a stand in while I finish it. I was wondering how I can apply the displacement to the model's geometry. I need to model some stuff to top of the mountain to make it look like a national park. How can I do this? I have the latest 10.5 release under OS 9 and Beta 7 under OS X. I know I should post this in the newbies forum, but I see this as a work in progress. Thanks to anyone who can help! PS. This project is due Monday!!!

This is som'thin i've been working on for the past few days (11 hours in fact) from scratch to final render. The lighting came together pretty quick too. The main thought behind it is that the more technology progresses the more popple become trapped in an in-escapable cage. This picture was meant to depict the vast empty feeling one should get when faced with the slavery of technology. But other than that it was done for fun. See in it what you want. And if Far Star sees this, I would like to enter this into a portfolio to show my lighting and camera skills. If you need someone else on the team that is. There's still more to come on this theme too.

I've been working on figuring out how to create a furry character for a few weeks, and have had very little success with Animation Master's hair material. What I've been able to get so far: http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote0.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote1.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/nekosei/others/naote2.jpg All slightly different variations of the density settings. But you can see why I'm having problems. The fur looks too uniform in placement, even with the position variation set to 100%. Recently I installed the DarkTree plugins, and got the spotted fur texture applied to her after working on materials to get the fade …

Hi Hashers I have to post this cos it is basically driving me nuts, so I thought one of you lovely lot could help me try and figure it out. I have attached an image which is a comp of two separate leaf textures I am working on. Both where created in exactly the same way and applied in the same way. Yet the one on the left has the obvious halos around it's edges the one on the right doesn't. Why am I getting this? I have tried using alpha channels incorporating anti-aliased edges and non-antialiased edges - both produce the same results. I have used defringe in Photoshop to ensure there are no white pixels on the borders of both set of leaves yet these orrible 'a…

Ok, here's the thing, a couple of buddies and I are working on a short animation. Right now I'm developing the characters for the short. The main character is a bird, a caribbean grackle to be exact. At the same time, we're also working on the look of the film. I'm pretty sure I've got it nailed down, but of course, I wanna let ya'll in on it, so you can post your comments (if any). What do you think of the colors? What would be the best way of doing these characters in AM. Specially the bird, I'm debating over wether I should use the hair systems in AM 11. I don't want my computer to become too sluguish in the process of animating the sucker.

I've put a bit of time into this and I'm fairly satisfied with the modeling but I'd like some suggestions on how to make the dino look more realistic. I guess I need to do some kind of bump map to make the hide of the beast look more real. I'd appreciate community imput on this. The models of the plants and the dino are all my original work, the plants with the help of a little program called "PlantStudio" available at http://www.kurtz-fernhout.com/order.htm It's a very nice program with lots of technical options. Tests on using hair with dynamics and forces. The grass looks good but the leaves on the tree seem to be moving a lot more than they should. They have the same dynamics settings as the grass. grassB000.mov One aspect I'm not sure about is the number of leaves which don't seem to be reacting to the forces at all. There is only one hair system on the ground and another on the tree, so I would have thought the forces would have produced equal motion across the board. Initially I also had dynamic constraints on the tree trunk but I pulled them out so that I could isolate the motion of the leaves.
