I started over last month on a model that I started in June of last year. I quit working on it in July of 2007 but recently I wanted to create a small animation and decided he would be the star. So I started rigging the character with the poseable rig and it has taken me three tries to figure out the model itself was the problem. So I rebuilt the chest and shoulders and then worked on the head, reduced splines and now I am asking for critiques once again on the look. Steve

I've been working on this off and on for a while, a few hours making weeks letting it sit around, and really want it to look good. It is a Temple like design loosely based on Greek/Roman style. Will be made of marble. However my materials turn out too unrealistic and I need some help. Also in its final form it will be atop a hill/mountain to and I don't know if it would look better new or ruinous. So basically any help would be nice.

I've been working on this model off and on for the last few years, and I've finally finished re-rigging and texturing it. It'll be for use in a different context in the end, but I thought I would put it into a little test animation for fun. So here is my very partial homage to Jurassic Park: http://www.dinocarl.com/trexescape.mov

Hey- I've been really busy lately... Recent animation for a local Tire chain that sponsors the 'Grand Rapids (MI) Griffins' minor league hockey team. The animation will run on the scoreboard at center ice during intermissions. I had always wanted to do one of these types of cartoons, and had fun doing it. I'm always amazed at sporting events how these mindless cartoons get BIG audience response... I hope mine does. Sorry about the big files sizes. Each is 1 minute long and there are 3 outcomes, and all share a common 1st half. This project took one week to complete, as the main character was already modeled and rigged and I just needed to make 2 other versions o…

Hi friends Here is my current work in progress. Its the Eldar War Walker from Warhammer 40K. I just love the design of the walker since it got both mechanical and organic feel over it. I bought a model of it which I have sent to a good friend of mine who is a warhammer figure painter. At the moment I only got photos of the unbuilt model itself as reference while modeling. I was not able to find any blueprints of the walker. Also, due to limited spare time, the progress is going a little slow. Anyway, here is what I got so far. Let me know what you think

Completed some tombstones, grave dirt, and a spooky tree and added to a set that I want to use for a zombie short (2 minutes?). I think that I've got OK lighting, but still need to place characters and complete some test animation. I wanted something simple, so that I can focus on the animation. Comments, as always, welcome.

Here's one of two characters that I'm working on. I'm in the skinning mode right now, but I'm adding new points to make the movements a lot better so I'm going back and forth and such. I have to say the skinning in Animation is a bit better than the one in Maya. I still have a couple of things to learn as I go along with this. This one is the Fighter.

I am doing a personal project, nothing important but something I want to do. one of the main characters is a Bear. I been up since lastnight making the bear and I am actually quite pleased so far. I know how to rig a person but I am kinda lost on where to start with this dagnabit bear! I really want to do it right the first time so if anyone would please give me your ideas on rigging him I would be very grateful. I am not asking a full tutorial LOL. Just some ideas and maybe a basic layout I can begin with. I just dont want to rig him all up and then have to redo the whole dagnabit bear. any other creative ideas are welcome too. I respect all the talent in …

Hi my friends I have been working on Atmel's AVR robots in 3D. Atmel is a developer and manufacturer of microcontrollers, advanced logic, NVRAM and RF Components. The robots are all based on designs made by Svein Erik Hokstad. There is still some tweaking and texturing to do. AVR TOOLS The AVR Tools range encompasses all categories of tools that you need, from venturing on to your first experiments with the AVR, through debugging and finalizing advanced projects. Starter kits, debuggers, evaluation kits, programmers, reference designs and other tools are categorically organized according to our "norse myTOOLogy" GJALLARHORN // EVALUATION…

ChiwawaTest15_221008.choThis little-dog model of mine renders kind of strange. Like when you have drunken too much. (see picture) Guess, this must be something in the settings? (I cant detect nothing unusual ) Anybody has any expierience with that? It would interest me , what causes this, not only to be able to avoid it, but also to be able to create it, in case you would need something like this. ? Jake ? StrangeTest15_221008.prj

Hyello- Martin recently was mentioning the strengths of copy/pasting body parts to make your own characters. Not only is this a great way to learn but it is a speedy way to get custom characters on demand. The other day I did a test for a potential diet supplement advert where a woman who has 'recieved the benefits' of the diet supplement would be the central character in the spot. My potential clients needed a 'mock-up' for a meeting so they could sell their concept, and 'theoretically' if I made the art I would get the gig... (doesn't always work that way...) They initially wanted a 2D traditional animated character, but liked the idea of a 2D/3D look. I used …

I've been busy with this. Roughly 24 hours modeling, 8 UV Mapping & Texturing, 12 rigging. Here's the result so far: No matter what I've tried, I haven't been able to get the front legs to look right. I think I'm going to have to make them a separate group with their own hair system, so that I can control the density separately. I've been trying to hold off on that, because I don't want to re-groom, but I guess I I'll have to. I built the rig myself, which wound up being easier than I thought. I couldn't use TSM because bears don't have the back legs of a quadruped, they have back legs like a biped. So, with some trial and error, I managed to co…

Hello - been working on a second tooth animation for my dentist client, the first one was the Veneers. This second one was much more challenging, I had to set up several pose sliders to get the different effects. The most interesting part was creating the "impression" which is like a lump of clay on a mouthpiece that goes in the mouth - then having it pull out w/ an impression of the teeth in the clay. Anyway, here it is if anyone is curious. It's on my site - the lower center under section "2D & 3D Flash Demonstations" - it's the first one just click on "VIEW" http://www.flashanimationwebsitedesign.com/ Thanks for all the help from my posts - Eric

I've never entered one of the image contests because my AM work was usually rigging practice or the occasional live project for my day job. But I've got this online comic, Bugbots: The Mansect Rebellion! that has been back-burnered for a couple of years now. I've occasionally tried some 3D treatments but usually ran into some glitch or complication and put it aside. But I decided to try one more time to model and rig a character, and recreate a scene from the comic as a still image. So what I'm working on is a model of Croaker, the assassin bug, in a 3D recreation of the last panel of Chapter 3.

I now would like to ask for help, I was working on a Deer model splining and such when I got an error #503? when trying to save my model, it now will not load, any of the three I had saved. attached is a zip containing the 3 versions, if anyone can get this to load up in AM, Im using v14c on a PC, it would be greatly appreciated. Ill try to check back on Friday, maybe thursday night to see if anyone had the time and or luck with it, looks like my mascot wont make the deadline. Thanks for reading, Your fellow Hasher…

Hi there, it's been a while since I been on here, anyways, I need some help. I am trying to make a movie (non-profit) and I need some models built. Naturally, I would build them myself, but because it's supposed to look good, I won't do it, as my models are crap! Anyways, here are some reference pics, but I wouldn't use them as rotoscopes as they're not to scale or anything like that. Anyways, I would really appreciate somebody building me things. There will be other ships that need to be built, but they haven't been designed yet. It would be nice to have this look as professional as possible, so that means textures, details etc. There are no set dimen…

I've got a problem with a rendering... hopfully someone knows the artifacts and can tell me why they are happening. I am rendering a image of a christmas tree ball. So I took another road: Now it uses a lighteningtechnique quite similar to yves skylight-rig (so many lights placed in a sphere around my object. I am although using a reflectionmap (using a material) and more important a boolean cutter. As you can see, in the sphere, there are the artifacts (and if you look very precisly although at the left top of the ball itself. Any ideas how to get them away? Thanks in advance *Fuchur*

This is my first fully rigged character in AM. His name is Murphy and he presently has 25 facial morph targets with 3 more to add. This was an exercise to see what AM could do as I usually use Blender,Maya, and Max. I'm going to do some animation shots at the end of this week.

Not sure where the old thread is in the archives, if it's there at all. This is a render in V15 of an older project where I was trying to animate this tree growing from a sprout to a full grown tree. This is the full grown tree. This tree is actually a large set of smaller "branch" models assembled in the choreography. If I could assemble them as a single composite model it would be preferred, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I wish I could iteratively build the whole tree from a small number of tweakable branch models. Any ideas? Here is an early test animation with a scaled down version: Tree growth animation test. And a closeup: T…

Hello friends: Just wanted to post my contest entry and a wireframe of the scene. I've worked on it a little bit more, but the basics are unchanged. I really wanted to keep the modeling to a minimum and concentrate more on the mood and lighting. AM v.15 has been very stable when it came to putting all these lights in a scene. Most of the lights have lens flares turned on to get the effect I was after. I also used smoke particles, although the background is comprised of two camera rotoscopes, one with stars and moon, and the other one with the majority of the background smoke. Feel free to leave any comments or questions. -E

I have been trying to understand rigging and animation lately so I have not done any new modeling aside from some tweaking to previous models. So I decided to play around and came up with this. And these are the scenes I have been working with to test out bones and animation. The animation is pretty bad so I wont post that. Crits always welcome

This is a animation for my students, I teach 4th grade. We learn about transportation in social studies (Michigan Studies) so I created an animation to show how railroad tracks go together. I'm hoping to add more detail and more content to different animations as time goes on. This was my main reason buying AM, when I saw the program at a technology conference, I wanted to use it to help teach my students. I have to add sound and a voice over. This animation is a little rough, because I slowed some parts down in iMovie after I saw how fast some parts were. Let me know what you think. Andy track_animation.mov

I've posted on this twice before and also put in a Hash/reports request, but so far the problem persists for me. Since I am not getting any feedback other than that the problem is resolved (this from Hash/reports as of V.14 - it is not resolved for me on any version up to V.15a), I am posting this again in hopes of finding my sanity and getting satisfaction in knowing that this is not only in my head. It doesn't matter which tileable image I use for the bitmapPlus material, the problem is the same. When I add a displacement value to the material and apply it to a group in any model, that goup become invisible in quick and final render. Sometimes it gets worse…

I had to leave on a business trip this past Friday and just came back. When I left, AM was running perfectly on my desktop. Upon turning my desktop on just now, I was very surprised to find that my WIP chor, which had no issues last Friday, now looks like all lights are down to about 10%, almost black. Naturally the values in the PWS have not changed, but the chor is almost black nonetheless. Thinking this might be a corrupt project file, I loaded a completely different project from a few weeks ago. The chor in that project also had the same problem, almost black. I opened one more old project and found the same. Since all chors were affected, I knew it had to be s…
