Here is my WIP. I have decided to model her face only and have planned to UVmap for her texture. The only bad part is that I only have her front view image not the side view. Just would like to try my best. CHEERS!

Here's a random doodle... I guess you could call it a test of mouth shapes. What I find interesting about stuff like this is how emotion can be conveyed with no other change other than the jaw/mouth. Adding some eye and eyebrow animation would yield even more interesting results and of course yield that wonderfully expressive emotion 'anger'. randommouthshapes_sm.mov

All of a sudden I was having problems rendering TGA decals, using 15.e. I tried everything but kept getting artifacts. I finally installed 15.0J+ and now things are rendering right again. I put jeans and a t-shirt on Knuckles and deleted the underlying body mesh. I think I'm gonna leave him bare-foot and rig his toes while I'm learning to rig. So over the next couple of days I'll be studying up on the 2008 rig.

*I've just renamed this thread from "Old barrels" to "Free textures", since I am going to use this thread for updates Hi guys Here is a simple barrel model I made while making textures for my new site. Please let me know what you think. I have attached the model in case anyone wants it, but you will have to download the textures from my site though http://nordicfx.net/?portfolio=barrel-texture-001 barrel.zip

A:M has been my main hobby for almost 19 years. (My oldest copy of the render module, render.exe, is dated Feb. 26, 1993). Over that time A:M has improved and I've learned a lot about modeling, texturing, lighting and observing the real world. Now that I'm getting comfortable with my new hardware, Win7_64 and v16 I've decided to go through every one of my models to bring them to a consistent level of craftsmanship. The first model to get an upgrade is the brick facade of a warehouse-like building. I don't usually keep old renders but in this case I have the warehouse from: 2001 - Toonation Brick Plug-in, simple lighting model, procedural sky, incredible day-glow colo…

Hey there, I am working on an opener for a short 5-min. news show that will begin in January. I am playing around with an idea for the opener. Shaded Render The idea is that the initial screen will have the title of the show and as the camera flies past all the subsequent screens they will each have various clips featuring shots of the anchors, b-roll from the area and of course corresponding audio as the screens whip past. Then I was thinking the big tower thingy at the end (which has screens...it's just hard to see them right now) would have a "5...4...3..2..1" countdown on the screens as the camera flies past and then some kind of explosion/flash…

Always adding to the old portfolio, wanted to try at some "physical" comedy. Hoping to get some crits and opinions from the first segment. mirrors.mov Here's what I see: I can tighten the walk cycle a bit... it's slipping on the stride. The transitions between poses might need some re-thinking. Some of the holds...(mostly the ones toward the end) are a little off.

I have made a test (done in 15min) that is CRAPPY (bad movements and they overlap each other). The way I did it was that I made one cardboardbox.. The I used that in a new action and multiplyed it by using action objects.. then i started to move them around.. Is there a better way to do this??? pls help test: esker.mov

Hey guys, it has been a long long time since I've done anything with A:M or even had it installed on my computer. Maybe 2012? To be honest I was missing using it and installed the last version I had, 14x, and started something I've been interested in modelling and 3dprinting. Not sure why but I've been itching to model the IronMan helmet. So last week reinstalled it and grabbed some rotoscopes, spent a day getting my feel for the modeling window again. I was so familiar with the software years ago that my minds muscle memory was almost totally intact. so, loaded up a few rotoscopes and got started. Im just out to do the helmet and this is where I've gotten to. Ho…

Some of you might remember the thread about the German WWII battleship Bismarck I started some months ago. After I finished Bismarck I accidentally came in touch with the author of the drawings I had used as referances and rotoscopes. He was at that time working on a book of Tirpitz for the Norwegian museum of defense. All ended up with me converting the Bismarck into Tirpitz to be used as illustrations for the book:) btw if someone is interested, here is a LINK to information about the book (with som samples) Here is a few personal renders for you to inspect: The first render features both Tirpitz and Bismarck, the others are Tirpitz only Let me know wha…

Introduction: I’m remaking an old Christmas video called “Twas the Night Before Christmas” that I did three years ago. As I completed scenes, I thought I would blog them here for general discussion of animated short making and have everyone critique what I am doing. I originally did this piece as a video Christmas card however in my ignorance of delivering video, most of the people I sent it to didn’t have the bandwidth or a powerful enough computer to view it. This year I will make it into a DVD and hope for a wider audience. I started about the first of July and am shooting for completion by December 19th. While I would love a lot more time, I am going to mak…

I filmed a theater performance called Die Schwarze Spinne (The Black Spider), and I decided to make a little opening sequence for it. This is the 3D part of that sequence -- I'll add in titles later. This really only took me about four hours in A:M... Considering it went from "idea" to "finished animation" in that time, I'm happy. Anyhow, feedback would be cool. Spider! Warning: not for arachnophobes.

Hey Hashers! I'm sure this has been posted somewhere, so I apologize if that's the case. Does anyone have a step by step on how to utilize multicore rendering? A way to render multiple frames at once? I can't seem to figure it out. I work on both Macs and PCs. Would there be a different way for each or are they the same? Thanks in advance! Shawn

Hi all, About to get started on the next episode of Cheese Wars and since it's been a long time, whipped this little render out just to make sure the guys still worked. For the first time, Cheese Wars is going to be a collaborative effort. We've got a few people signed up already, but if anyone else is looking for something to do, there's always room for more. We still need some modeling and texturing done, mainly props, but the Alien is going to need a makeover too. And you can never have enough animators. Thanks, Gregg

Hello all- Just a quick question. I was checking out the UCLA Lab of Neural Imaging and came across a cool picture of a brain. I was trying to duplicate it in AM. I even thought that there was a Dark Tree shader that approximated x rays but couldn't find it. Anyway, in AM I took 2 spheres, crumpled the bigger one slightly and made it transparent. Added a color map and high specularity and came up with something that doesn't look even remotely what I intended. Any ideas how to achieve the effect on the left? Many thanks! Tom

I can export models succesfully to 3ds Max files to import into Unity which is great to know because animation master is what I am good at. My first question however is, Is there any way to export animation files from animation master into any other file types that i could possibly use? And i am going to post all the things i model in this topic so you guys can see all of my progress! This first picture is What the game style will be. Legend of Zelda Wind Waker is the inspiration. I created a leaf emitter model with growth and color sliders. Heres how to use it. Open leaf emitter model and import your tree. Create a group for your leaves. Drag the hair material shortcut from the leaf emitter group to your leaf group. Delete leaf emitter group and name. Rename your leaf group leaf emitter (very important). Add a leaf image to hair material. Open pose slider. Drag the model into choreography in shaded mode (color does show in wireframe mode). Move sliders to see the change. Windows v11.0. If your having problems let me know. Works very well with Marcel's treeez plug-in. Just drag onto level0 group and rename. Enjoy.

Hi guys. Its been a while since I've showed anything in the showcase forum. These last weeks I've been working on two cars for David Dustin. They are both 1st generation Neon's. The red one is a sedan while the purple one is a coupe. The headlights are just simple textures since they are going to be used in a dark scene. Let me know what you think Best regards Stian [attachmentid=22485][attachmentid=22486] [attachmentid=22487][attachmentid=22488]

This started out as a rig test for David Simmons Squetchy Thom rig. It pretty much uses all the S&S features of the rig. A fun rig to work with if you haven't checked it out yet! Anyways I just added the eyes and animation over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully the link will work, OK. I don't have my webspace right now. You have to click on the "320" under the animation for proper size. Eggs.mov Thanks David

I have played with the SDK for A:M for some time and so far it has resulted in a plug-in for simple water effects. See the attached movie if you want an example of what it can be used for. I hope you don't mind the green color. It was supposed to look like poisonous goo... The plug-in is in an early alpha state so please read the disclaimer before you use it! It is only tested in A:M v10.5 so please let me know if you have problems getting started. Poison01.mov

Hello, I'm trying to create water using the very useful tutorial at The Babbage Patch. I encounter a problem, however, when I try to apply the displacement material onto a simple square. The material is set up correctly, but when I apply it to the object, it comes out as a blank white sheet. Here's a screenshot-- I've followed all the instructions very carefully. The only problem I have in mind is a difference in software; the author created his tutorial with A:M 2001, and I'm using A:M 2005. On the other hand, does anyone have a different way of creating an ocean? I'd ultimately like to create a wake from a ship as well, but I have to get by this …

OK! This will be a model of my Ranger in GW. But that's pretty far off. I've made a body mock-up and now I'm working on the head. Here's where I'm at: [attachmentid=23207] Lookin' kinda freaky. [attachmentid=23208] I've gotten this far with the help of the great 'Cooper' Tutorial. My questions: - Am I using too many 5 point patches? - How to fix those creases on the side? - Does he need more CPs? - Should I put this on hold until I get my version 13 upgrade? (Just in time for Christmas. ) Suggest away! Now that I've made this thread, I should be more motivated to work on him! Updates will happen!

'kay, so here's the piston, cam and flywheels. yet to do are the cylinder and the stand. I'm trying to work (at this point) without using decals or materials. they will be added later. It's based on an old Popular Mechanics article where a candle is used to "power" this engine. The flame from the candle fills the cylinder, then a valve closes off the flame. This creates a vacuum in the cylinder which is the "power stroke" which opens the valve and the flame is then readmitted to the cylinder. and so on. I've got to get the flywheels and piston to look as though they were machined stainless steel. This is just a start, and I need to study up on reflect…

Hi there, Well, finally got round to running a fly-round of my female character. I think I better getting on slapping some bones in her, and start doing some animation with her... I think she still needs smoothing out some more, but I'm just spinning my wheels at the moment, hence the need for some animation. Maybe some clothes on her as well - yes, she's nude, so you have been warned. I based the body on Joe Williamsen's awesome Bisley Warrior Princess, and the head on every single wireframe that I've seen by Jim Talbot - thanks for the constant inspiration, both of ya! The hair and ears were obtained from Vuk Pavlovic (sp?), so thanks go to him. The…

It's been a while, but I had this image of the playing card knights from Alice in Wonderland, and I wanted to put 3D Painter through its' paces. I have to say I really like 3D Painter and its integration with AM. That plus the fact that there's a new version of Mirrorsplines for AM13 really made my day. And when did Hash add the mirror all smartskin option? It's really cool too. Currently the model only has a color and a displacement map, I'll probably add a reflectivity map tomorrow.

Better Anti-Aliasing WITHOUT the wait !!

Hi guys, This is just an application of some fundamental image-processing theory to A:M The attached images where rendered in about the same time, even though one obviously has better anti-aliasing then the other. Contrary to popular belief, anti-aliasing is an objective measurement; NOT subjective. By performing a Histogram of your renders, the number of steps that appears in a histogram determines OBJECTIVELY how well you are anti-aliasing. This histogram analysis is only valid in pure color images (like the given example) and edge boundaries must be sharp (meaning no blurred edges). In A:M when you set your Blur to 0 . . . you ar…
