I have been away for a long time, and I am getting the itch to animate again. I began to play around with A:M again. Here is what I came up with in a few hours. There are errors with floating hands and such, but over all I feel like it came out better than I anticipated. Your thoughts? throw2.mov

I thought that I'd post a little animation test I'm working on to get some feed back. It's currently very rough: I've got the main poses in, done most of the lip-sync and have tried to set most of the timing. There is'nt facial animation yet and it all still needs a fair amount of finessing..... Anyhow, I would love to get some feedback - I'm trying to build my animation muscles with this, so point out my flab! Quicktime, sorenson 3, 1.3mb Click Me!

This is a animation for my students, I teach 4th grade. We learn about transportation in social studies (Michigan Studies) so I created an animation to show how railroad tracks go together. I'm hoping to add more detail and more content to different animations as time goes on. This was my main reason buying AM, when I saw the program at a technology conference, I wanted to use it to help teach my students. I have to add sound and a voice over. This animation is a little rough, because I slowed some parts down in iMovie after I saw how fast some parts were. Let me know what you think. Andy track_animation.mov

Just an animating exercise with some of the Hash resources. All done in a chor. action, and not finished yet although, any crits. welcome. I'm still trying to get a handle on this key-framing business. Barry Zundels CD was very inspirational for me and helped break the ice with animating in A:M. Showing His method of positioning the character at key positions first, using just the model bone, and then filling in the motion "in between" using the bones later, made it a lot easier. magic7.mov

Hey everybody, I just gotta say thanks again to jamagica for his rig, I really love it. Anyway, i was up pretty late last night, and finished my first human character EVER!!! He is rigged, almost done mapped, and fully ready to kick some butt. (except for his helmet, i need to do somthing to that so i dont look like a fro) These results are wonderful for me! I added a few bones to the rig, to fix a few problems with intersecting stuff I hope you like it. PS. this is just a really rough test, but it (shows off my finished character) swat_dude_test.rar

Hello everyone, My name is Henrique and I was fascinated by all the animations that were built from the users of this site. A few months ago I created one of the pyramid hologram projectors and tested a few animations as a sample on my phone, then I showed it to the physics club at my school, but this time I made the pyramid fit for the size of a tablet, once again using some of the animations of this site. I then decided to take that further and enlarged the pyramid even more, however this time I made it fit for a 46 inch Tv screen and I created a video of our own to present it to my class during our Graduation ceremony. After receiving high positive reception f…

Hello everyone, I haven't been on the forums in a while, except for the occasional lurking and quick troubleshooting, but after weeks of jumping from poly modeling, to C-coding, to flash animation, even to pixel art, I'm back to the Hash forums. Like one of my old projects, Patapon, I'm using 3D splines on a 2D scale. I don't really know if I'm going to do anything with it. Just a quick test: Thanks, Jared

Last night I put together a short [18 sec.] Choreo of spheres/planets moving around each other. Simple in the extreme. But when I try to render it [at 400x225_final qual.] it does fine until it hits Frame 15 [3%] and stops. The Elapsed Time counter starts off at about 18 minutes remaining and counts down to about 16 until lock-up. Then it starts to increase in time remaining. Last night I was surprised to see that it was saying 4 hours to complete. I decided to ignore it and do something else. When I came back, it was still at 3%, but said 30+ hours to complete. When I hit the Abort button I get the Vista blue-spinning circle...forever. You can't access menus let alone sh…

Ok, let me get this straight. We are supposed to think in three dimensions, learn to model, apply hair, texture, decal, bone, rig, animate, operate a camera, set up lighting, learn the physics of photon mapping. Then every year a new version comes out with features we have to figure out all over again. It sounds like fun. Anyway here is my latest attempt at making a realistic face.

Much of my focus these days is with hand drawn animation but it all tends to blend and further complement the study of animation. For instance, some folks spend a great deal of time sculpting physical models (maquettes) as an aide to visualizing their characters and objects in order to make drawing them (from any angle) easier. Even animators who draw their characters should have a 3D computer animation program. Of course I recommend Animation:Master because... with splines... modeling is an extension of drawing. This was primarily an exercise in trying to model this character quickly. It would have been wise for me to sketch out a few drawings to rotos…

well i think its been about 5 or 7 years since i last tried at character animation. so i thought i would give it a go again when i saw this basic character model in the sharing page. last time i tried, i did a jump animation. so thought it would be good to try the same motion. i kept it pretty simple with the motions. can you who have been animating a while critique it for me and maybe give me a few pointers as to what I'm doing right or wrong. please be honest jump_test.mov Thanks

Hi splinesmen, Haven't posted in a while... But I'm working hard. Here is a test of a character walking and sitting on a cube. The dynamic movements I seem to be having a problem with I may post a question about if I can't figure it out. anyway... depress5.mov The quicktime movie is 1.29 MB. I know I went too far by doing a final render, but I needed to test the low rez textures... to see how they measure up. I rendered him without his hair to look at the rendertimes of the textures. I saved max rez textures at 4000x and med rez textures at 2000x and low rez textures are about 1000x. Tell me what you think... even if you don't have a crit.

Hey guys, I did this animation about a week ago using AMv14. I've tweaked it as much as possible, but something feels like it could be better. Since it was a test animation for a bigger project, I may not do any more tweaks, but I would love suggestions to make the real thing the best it can be. Thanks. Justin NanoWar2.mov

Hi All, Can anyone tell me why my character model actions work properly in the action window and get corrupted in the Chor window. If I drop more then one action in my chor window they blend some how. It happens wheather I use a path or not and it does not go away when I slide the actions appart on the timeline. I have also use the model properties Blend, Add and Replace at different times with out getting predictable results. Technodandy

Hi all! Since I suck at modeling.. I figured I'd focus on the animation for a while and try to get good at that. I went back to the 'Door's Stuck' tutorial and played around a little.. this is just the first un-polished pass so there's a lot of anomalies and timing issues.. but it's just a beginning. Steve Door's stuck first pass..

This should be viewed as fan movie (characters and concepts are undoubtably copyrighed), byt I came out with the idea and I had to make it... I made the characters long time ago, but I had them re - rigged for the animation... I've animated first two sequences and then I had other things to do, sooooo, this post is probably the way to get things started again... As I finish the sequences I will post them, and of course everyone around here is invited for comment (PLEASE) So, first sequence comes your way! Drvarceto p.s. no voices, sound effects (or any sound for that matter) yet! MIKKE_1seq_HQ.mov

I was just wondering if I could get some constructive criticism on something I'm working on. The link is here (2.5MB) Oh, and if you're from any of the States mentioned and have a better idea for pictures to go on the projector, let me know that, too. I'm going for a sort of inside joke/stereotype thing. For example, for Michigan there's a hand, because we Michiganians will quite often point to a place on the right hand when asked where we're from (unless one is a Yooper). So, yeah. Looking forward to comments.

[attachmentid=13271] I'll try to keep it simple and snappy So far, I have characters made and rigged (Piglet is rigged with my hack at the Simmons's Squetch rig) I'll probably live dialog out of this one, it will have just the sound effects, and I hope that it wull be ready for the 3'rd Mini Movie contest... (couldn't think of a good 3 or 4 word description.) I've got an animation three seconds long. The turret from one of the armored cars bounces and rattles down the tunnel and comes to a stop at the three second mark. [make a keyframe] Then it sits there for five more seconds. [make a keyframe at 8 sec.] But when I render it out, it takes the three sec. segment and stretches it to the full eight. What's going wrong?

Hi All, I have been working on this animtation and wondered what you thought. Download here All crits welcome. Bare in mind that it is WIP and so is not fully rendered (only realtime shaded at the mo). There are places where the hands are popping through and such. It is mostly the story/direction/acting/timing that is up for crits. I don't mind honest comments. Fire away.

Greetings! Well, I finally stepped away from my mechanical modeling background and took a stab at the Katakata tutorial for making an anime head - this one is Takahashi's onnaRanma from Ranma 1/2. I'm posting it here for feedback - this is the first attempt at a non-mechanical mesh I've done in A:M, so feedback and useful pointers are more than welcome. My initial thought is that I'm probably a little spline-heavy (typical Shurtleff-style overkill in action yet again). I had a bit of a problem with creasing to start, but I think I've managed to get rid of most of it. One major compromise I've made in trying to implement Takahashi's style is with the eyes. …

My brother dropped off the two DVD's of Animusic..(check google video's if you are not familiar). Anyway after watchin them for awhile I thought a version of this could be done with AM to some degree if we set up an instrument to act the same way a character is set up to talk and use a dope sheet to play the notes. This was just an idea and I threw this slient idea using just simple on-off poses (no dope sheet) to demo how a very simple version might animate simple [attachmentid=21652] John PS went to my 40th high school reunion yesterday evening ...had trouble figuring out who all the old people were that showed up simple.mov

O.K. Heres something to give an Idea of the possibilities for modifying existing work from OBJ files. These are 2 geometries from the Poser 6 program. These models can be purchased at numerous places on the internet. Mainly DAZ3d. Its important to know that the "descriptions" of the models on any site must INCLUDE "GEOMETRIES", which are in OBJ format. Otherwise you will just get a Poser specific format. But this goes to show that re-inventing the wheel isnt necessary? I dont know if its considered "cheating" or not? It all depends on how extreme the modify is. Considering this fact though: these models when imported reach around 26,000 splines/vertices. Ive managed to wi…

Each year it has improved immensly and each year i think i wont be able to out-do myself. But i have once again. Hi, Many have seen these models before but… here they are again. Using Bill Young’s ‘Model a Face’ CD from Anzovin Studio, one model was based on my face and one was based on my daughter’s. Mine could be a little better, my daughter’s came out pretty good. Both heads are rigged using one of the first face rigs presented in the AM community; Shawn Freeman's as shown on one of the AM SIG Pro Training sets. On one, you can see that I've overlaid the 3D face control setup from an early version of the Squetch rig. Latter images show both the models in scenes from my current project. Comments welcome, Rusty
