-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

I found photos of the exact desert I want represented in my animation, and I feel humbled by the number of subtle shrubs, hills, bluffs, and so on that make the desert what it is. Especially since it is only going to be in the background and does not move, I don't see the sense in modeling all of this from scratch. So now I'm toying with the logistics of animating my A:M components to be most compatible with my photoshopped and then 3-D composited (probably in After Effects) sort of environment. I understand there's a way to render animations with an alpha channel, although I don't know how. I guess that's question number one. Another question is "how to …

Hello, I'm currently working on a school project about the properties of skin, but i'll go into that in another thread. Right now I'm having some difficultues wity A:M. I tried using a tearrain plug-in, but then a pop up came up saying "insufficent storage space" and my computer crashed. Now when I open A:M and click ANYTHING a pop up shows up saying "Realtime Rendering Difficulties". I don't know what Raltime Rendering is, but from speculation it can't be good. But the worst is my deadline! I'm sitting at my desk ready to pull my hair out, Masna

As I was smartskinning my model the other night, everything was looking good with the shoulders and I decided to move on to the legs. In an action, I then discovered something very odd and very frustrating. If I move the left leg up a lot, the geometry on the character’s chest and right arm gets distorted. Basically, several select CPs move slightly as though they were connected to the leg bones. However, this is not at all the case! I see no logical reason why some CPs in the arm would move around when I lift up a leg, since no CPs in the arm are assigned to anything but arm bones! Tonight I am going back through my 250 saved files to see how far back in my project …

Hi - Awhile back I posted asking if anyone knew a really good artist that could create a rotoscope drawing for a character - a couple people nicely responded and had some pretty good drawings they had done. I live out in California in the valley and happen to be up at Universal Studios and noticed they have an area set up with caricature artists, so I decided to have him do one and see how it came out. He is a very talented guy and it came out great. I am using it now to create a character, and it is working pretty well - I probably should have had him do a profile drawing as well. Anyway, I thought I would post his email and website portfolio if anyone is in ne…

Hello, I continue to explore AM with the tutorial on youtube: https://youtu.be/1CFLb0w4X4A I have some questions : - Realtime rendering looks weird !? Do you know what this is due to ? Did I make a bad handling or a bad adjustment? - Some of my model's normals are in the wrong direction. How do I unify the normals? Thank you in advance and have a nice day teo

Before I suggest adding these features, I better poll the forum to see if A:M already has them. There are so many I haven't stumbled across yet... 1. One of those "other" programs (maybe more than one) has what would, in A:M, be two-sided splines, with different colors, so in wireframe you can tell which side you're viewing a spline from. Makes it easier to figure out what you're doing. 2. Is there a way to set shaded wireframe so the patches are translucent? One can adjust the surface properties, but a preset for convenience in modelling would be handy. 3. Along the same lines: 2-color patches. Again, I know this can be done, but as a preset for conve…

Hello everyone, I've just ordered A:M and I would like to get a new PC to run it on. Does anyone have any recommendations on the following: 1) Processor - AMD or Intel? What processor would give best results in A:M, best speed etc? 2) 32 bit or 64 bit - is it worth getting an AMD64 processor? 3) How much memory? - I will probably get 1Gb Ram, is it worth getting more? 4) Graphics card - Nvidia, ATi - in the past I have stuck with Nvidia - better the devil you know? Any other recommendations would be gratefully accepted

I buried this question in another question so I thought I would bring it to the fore-front. So how do I recover from an Auto Save? I don't think it is the Revert command because the auto saved file names are different. Do I just navigate to the Backup folder and select the last file?

I was working on one of my models and AM experienced a problem. I hit save and it messed up my file. And the last back up I have is just the head. Can someone see if they can recover a model file. If you think you can give it a shot “post”, I will be grateful I will not be posting the file since to many people will try and download this file and crash there programs. I get Exception #039, trouble saving patches.

I've got a very detailed photo-realistic facial mesh that I'm trying to re-fit to a 3ds prop that's a 3D scan of an actual person, I then have high resolution flat lighting orthogonal photos that I'll be using as decals... The eyes, nose, mouth, and ears are obvious things to group and move around to match their positions on the actual face, so I've made groups for these and the surrounding patches. Later on the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears will have to be tweaked, adjusted, and (possibly) remodeled (a bit) to closely match the real person - but I'm just wanting to get them into the right relative positions to start. The problem I'm running into is that as I move…

I bought AM at Wondercon last year and haven't looked at it since I installed it. Today I decided to learn a little about it. It asks me for registration info every time I start up, then gives me this error message: Unable to load plug-in [/Applications/Animation Master 16.0/Textures/Simbiont2.atx],-err- Then it opens and I can play with everything. I went through the first video tutorial but I couldn't save anything. This makes me think I'm not really registered. I have the disc with the activation code, but I thought I put that in when I installed the program. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello, I'm practicing rigging and posing in A:M 12.0 on a Powermac G4. I need help in understanding how to maintain the relationship between bones while I'm building a pose. Here's my situation: Let's say I have Two (2) bones: Bone 1 and Bone 2. I'd like a pose where they move in relation to each other in a Percentage Pose. I right-click on the object name in the workspace and choose [New][Pose]. This opens a pose slider which is set to 100%. I then set up relationships between bones using "Orient Like" [bone 2 is set to "Orient Like" Bone 1,] When I move Bone 1 with Bone 2 related, it works fine and the bones moves as they should with the re…

So I've been away from A:M for a few years and I have the itch to get back into it. So I dug out my A:M 10.5 CD and installed it (I don't have the money to upgrade). It's coming back quickly to me. I am trying to model my coffee table right now, but I'm stuck. Plus I don't think the way I did it was the best way. Here is a pic of my coffee table (please forgive the mess). As you might be able to see, it has rounded edges and corners and there is an indentation with a gold band that goes all the way around. The way I did it was I drew the outline of the profile of the table (Table1.jpg). I then extruded that and stretched it to make a square (Table2.jpg). I then copi…

Does anyone have a tutorial or any other kind of help for rendering (to file)? Granted, I have only been using A:M for 1 day but I can't seem to get any of my rendering to work. It seems pretty straight-forward but for some reason if I render a tga file, it just comes out completely white with nothing on it. If I render a movie (i.e. Quicktime), it is just pure black. There must be something I'm not doing right. Thanks.
