Made a quick map in PS ..way to big 4x6 inch... one black to grey the other with some blue tones..same map just played with hue Then grabbed grid.mdl on cd and enlarged it some Fit decal onto model changed it to displace and cranked up diplacement to 25000%. Added color decal to folder and rendered grid using it instead of ground Interesting results [attachmentid=21670] find the hairy Waldo [attachmentid=21673] I converted the decals from tga to jpg in case any one is interested [attachmentid=21671] [attachmentid=21672]

As the title says, this is the linkage used by steam locomotives to allow them to move forward or in reverse. The idea of splining the convoluted shapes and transitions intimidated me so much that I kept putting off starting them for months. But I finally bit the bullet and I think they can stand up to an arm's length inspection. The quasi rectangular frame (which is about 6 ft. long) has a close approximation of the final cast iron texture for all the parts but the Playdough colours on the other parts are just to ease inspection.

So I have mostly finished building my fleet of racing jets, and would now like to race them through some large canyons or possibly fjords, with maybe a mountain range thrown in for good measure. The jets should move about 250m/s so the canyon will have to be large indeed. I have my old AM 2000 book, and it mentions rebumpx, but I am not sure how compatable it is with v11. Any thoughts on good relatively recent tutorials on how to build mountains and valleys?

This was my attempt at speed modeling. WARNING: Splines in project file below are poorly built and illogical. These were Speed-Splines as I was timing myself to see how long this would take. (1.5hrs). Regards, Eugene

I'm taking a huge break from the really detailed stuff i've made, obviously. maybe im just getting lazier. I already made the pieces match up with the grid. Took me a while, but i've got the numbers exact, so now it's time to have some fun with this... one of my ideas is to add walls to the project and have a "Next Block" tunnel for the next block to travel through, obviously making this into an animation. Can i get some more ideas though?

Only my second animation ever that wasn't a cycle of some type. Remember I'm just a novice but would love any constructive comment. Its a 1.8mb mpeg-1 file. Due to problems I had animating this model (major problems with the rig with unwanted bone rotation and oddball balance bone shifting) I won't be trying to fix the animation. I might try using the original model (circa 2000) that was working flawlessly in v9.5 next time. I would have hosted it on my own web page but I can't seem to upload anything larger than 650k so my appologies ahead of time for hosting it on tripod. The post title acurately expresses my current mood in attempting to post this animati…

Has anyone put a cow model together? I saw the one on the TWO project and it is wonderful but I need some guidelines or directions. Steve

Well I felt like I needed to post a WIP, just to show that Im actually working on something, LOL, not just visiting the forum, A crawdad-ish model I modeled for no reason other than to get back to it. I also wanted to learn to combine Materials and Decals together (I used 3D painter for the decals) I personally like seeing models showcased within an animation thats why the Mov file with the model with some movement (just quickly done in an action). It appx 13mb. Well I'm back to texturing...... Crawdad_Cam1_TestAnim1.mov

Hi folks, In order to distract me from my lightingtests, I did this version of the Nibelung Ring, that Alberich forged out of the Rheingold which he had stolen from the Rheintöchter (mermaids). This Ring grants him the greatest powers (worldreign and so on ), but at the same time curses him to live without love forever. The curse is symbolized by the dragon Fafnir devouring himself out of greed. Besides of its incredible magical power, this ring holds some additonal close combat weaponery: a poisonous sting and some extractable razorsharp (mermaids) fins. http://www.jostkeller.de/dreid/testing/Rhe...dRing111011.zip Crits welcome

I have modeled a tower and would like to "place" it in my back yard. Howver, I am still VERY new and as so my tower placement doesn't look as real as I'd like. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do to make it look more realistic? I know I have to add a shadow and light and stuff. However, I havn't done any lighting tuts yet, and for the shadowing, I think I have to model a floor, which I'm not sure about either. Any help, (or just post a link to a tut that can help) would be great.. Thanks

I built this simple weight bench and it seem such a waste for one person, so my next question is what ever happen to the model archive? Ive donated a televison and other stuff to hash and animation pit stop long time ago and notice that it never made it. Is there a new place to bank models?

A couple of weeks ago, during the June-deal offer, I managed to upgrade my version of A:M from 10.5 to 13.0. And what a leap that was! While I still had the earlier version, I tried to make do with what I could - but one major setback was the uselessness of the hair feature. Now, somewhere in the advancement, I have since gained those new hair and grooming features that allow me so much more control over my hair and fur, to say nothing of the brilliant render quality! The attached image shows the progression of my personal alter-ego character, Danbuster Cameronean Leadboot - shown in the last rendered frame of my avatar animation, striking his silly pose. …

This has been on AM Films for some time, but I recently updated it to include the title and credits. (This expanded it to 6M instead of the posted 4M, so be warned.): Marshmallow Lecter It features a marshmallow character I designed for a series of short films in the works I call the "Marshmallow Safety Films". Being rather vulnerable, it's rather easy to invent many kinds of humorous "accidents" for them to experience. Not much action in this one. More of an exercise in lip syncing, based on Jason Osipa's excellent methods from his book "Stop Staring--Facial Modeling and Animation Done Right". (I very highly recommend this book! A must have for anyone …

The local Futures Foundation asked me to come up with artwork for their fundraiser "Taste of Technology"— a silent auction and wine tasting event. This would be used on postcards, posters, and a huge banner. So this is what I gave them. And, it was a pretty big hit as well.

Help, When I rendered this scene, there are weird elliptical lines that show up ONLY when a particular model moves. I'm using lines in the guarding section to simulate wire mesh (mesh is commonly used in these types of industrial installations. The lines are then "rendered as lines". I didn't think it was an issue till I ran the presentation through the projector. They stick out like a sore thumb. Any help would be appreciated. d

My son and I were out driving last weekend, and we saw an Audi R8. It is a very sporty looking little car and thought I would try modelling it. I have been so busy with renovations and work, I haven't had time for anything else, and thought this would be good to keep me from getting too rusty. It is coming up to year end at work, and things are going to be crazy until after tax time next year (I support the Payroll Department for the City of London). The other projects I had on the go, will have to wait until I can dedicate more time to them. Anyway, here is the start of the Audi R8. As always, C&C always welcome... Al

Hi, I'm a returning A:M newbie who is finally learning this program using version 8.5. I know... I am creating an animation of a levitated deck of cards, and I want them to move from the deck to a magician's close-up table. Unfortunately, they seem to move on their own. I am using simple translation for movement. I clicked the "Make Keyframe" key at zero frames: I typed 30 (1 sec) in the frames window, moved the top card, and clicked "Make KeyFrame" I want this particular position to hold for 30 frames before moving to its final position, so I typed 60 into the frames window and clicked "Make KeyFrame" The card's final positi…

Did some experimantation with Image based ligthing and an HDRI picture along the line of Stians Tutorial. Managed to get an effect from the enviroment map on the big sphere to be visible on the vehicles. But what amazes me is: There is no visible difference, when in the chor properties I additionally activate the HDRI image or if I keep the default set to no picture at all. Hiya everybody. Here's a peek at my first A:M character. He's still *very* in-progress. This is just a copy-flip-attach of what I have, so far. Still needs decent eyes, body textures, possibly some fur, as well. What I'd really like to do, is shoot for the sort of look that "Father of the pride" has (if anyone has seen this new NBC show) But so far I havn't found any settings for the fur material that look right. I'm probably going to hold off rigging him until the new Setup Machine 2 comes out, since that should (theoretically) make the job easier. Making this guy has been an uphill battle, of not just coming to terms with the problems of spline …
