Hello all, It has been a couple of months until I posted something. I have been working on my website and on there I have characters created in Am. (All except for the rabbit where created in AM.) As you will see I am a fan of toon shading. I do photo realistic as well. I just have the about page done and contact. I am putting the animation together to post real soon. Have a look.... www.hennesproductions.com Cheers, William

Hello - I created another character for my site - basically for modeling and animating practice. Also, wanted to play around w/ using a decal to control the "hair" color. Anyway, how it turned into a boxing Meerkat, I'm not sure, but it did. He is the 3rd character over from the left on the bottom row. Thanks - Eric www.3dcharacteranimation.biz

A frame from the project I am currently revising. Can anyone suggest what might be causing the shadow to show through the wall and what might be causing the lines on the ceiling? The wall is double skinned, with a gap between the skins ( walls) V105R Win XP Toon Render x32pass cheers simon (there is a larger image but its 159k and didn't wish to impose )

I wanted something different in our band video. There was a piece in the talent show that was not G rated. I wanted to remove it and have fun with it. So, I exported a screen shot, put it in as a rotoscope, added Keekat, and did a voice over (Sound Forge 7 with pitch change). It took a little to get the render settings to work. No shadow yet, but it is not that important on the floor. Thought I would share. Attached is a wmv in a zip. chhskeekat.zip

The local DJ's remarked how they hated one of the renderings of their faces on their homepage, so I figured I'd try and recreate 'em in 3D... For those who know what they look like, I think Todd didn't come out all that bad, despite the fact the colors are all off. Not much I can do about that since I'm color blind . Scott is still a work in progress..

OK sorry to be a pest.... I read the help file on this, I followed the directions but there must be something I'm missing because while I am getting the mirroed part that I want, it is not attaching. I am working in front view, its mirroring along the y-axis properly, but does not attach. I am grouping the left half of the body, then right click, choose CFA, and I get the mirrored part but it doesn't attach. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Do I have to move the pivot? thanks in advance Roger

Hi guys, finaly i get to put my first post on here , I have been using AM now For about 7-8 months on and off and thought or was given the idea rather that it would be a good idea to start posting my work up so i could recieve some constructive crit. I had modeled a simple tower to test out some tiling textures I made on photoshop. I started playing around with it, duplicating it, scaling it, and sticking them on, and I wound up with a really cool looking castle design. I decided to work it into a poster for my daughter's birthday. (I used to have a sound clip of her saying, "I'm the princess, in the tall, tall tower", hence the title and inspiration). The castle model is only a proxy right now. I'm going to replace it piece by piece with a more detailed model. The lighting and the background are final, for now. The lighting may get tweaked as I go along, and I may repaint the clouds in the BG, I'm not sure. …

Here is an attempt at getting an image with a cool morning light feel. The background is just a decal with cool light color applied and some fog effects. The foreground is modeled with a lot of small individual lights to give the impression of bounced lighting off the floor and walls, etc. Does it work? Any suggestions for improvement?

If you have the bandwidth or time to kill I've posted a short animation on my ISP websight. I'm not sure how many hits they will allow so I'm curious to find out. The animation is one I started for one of the contests and didn't finish in time (or yet for that matter). http://users.adelphia.net/~chipotle/ Before I go back to lurking I must thank all you tutorial writers and tip givers. From Jeff Canton on, you're all very helpful . Pepper

Hi Spliners Here my attempt to make Water with an animated Material. I know, that the waves are too fast and the color of the Water is too blue. I already changed the color ( look at the image). But before I start the next animated rendering, I want to ad some Force, to move the Hair (Grass). But I never did it before and so my question is, how to do it. CU Maszie

Hi. I was working on this for a while. After many many sleepless nights I have finished this! At last! Ok, I am joking about sleepless nights... actually I had some problems with textures. And I am very tired of this testing textures and lighting. The main idea was to make something similar to Xmas postcard, in the end I refused this idea... But as always C&C welcome!

It is the first time I get this far in a 3d project. Actually, it is done but these is a problem with the camera, you will see that it does a 360. Is there any way to prevent this? the project was proposed to me by a friend promothing sciences to high school students. He needed visual support. thanks for comments! btw, I didn't waste time animating the character to open door... tido fus_e.wmv

Haven't modeled anything complex for a while, so been at this One for about 3 weeks now. Figuring at least another week, just slowly tinkering with it on a daily basis. (I'm Not modeling a PS3 Version of the Rifle - Just using the PS3 Image as the basis for a finished Rifle) Here's the "RotoScope" Image being Used - NOT A FINAL RENDER! Here's the file of what I have so far (I'm on Version 14 Now) ->PS3_Rifle_14.prj 3/4 of the way there and still some holes that need filled. So far Only ONE real trouble spot, where the handle goes into the body (5 point patch not rendering properly). When finished: Not Seriously - just an Idea for …

Working on a treasure chest right now. So far, I have extruded 2 shapes to make up the lid and the body of the chest. I chose to do it this way since I wanted the chest to have some depth to it, and not a knife edge on the walls that make up the lid and body. However, now I'm left with the problem of closing the ends off. What would be the best way to go about doing this? I know I can probably come up with something that will work, but not sure it will look "nice". Is there an existing "best practice" for capping surfaces like this?

I was inspire by Xtaz's image and desription of Image Based Lighting using HDR images. My results weren't as impressive, but i don't have the patience to wait 6 hours to see how it turns out. I do like how it worked, but I added 2 lights to give the object some shadows. I didn't get shadows from the IBL alone. I don't know if that comes with more passes. Maybe someone can fill me in. Here are the images I did get. I'm showing the fully lit image and ones with IBL only and Kleigs only for comparison. I plan on doing more testing to get IBL figured out better. Any info or comments appreciated.

Hi everybody: This was in the WIP section a while back, and it's finally finished. Because of the fact that many of you helped me with your suggestions, I thought I'd post it and let you see the finished piece. The only thing left to do, to finish it completely is to fill the signs, that are sticking up out of the ground, with numbers (this is because it is for a math student textbook). Thank all for the help!!

I've been working on this off and on for a couple weeks. I'm still working on the hands, beard, toy bag, and I still need to get some folds in his coat but he's getting pretty close. He's heavily based on the santa from the classic rudolph tv show. I've got Yves' skin shader on him but it's hard to tell in this pic. Anyway, crits and comments welcome. Kevin

as I read through the newton physics and rebuild notes I had a thought. An hour and a couple of old models later I got this. Basically I took simple models and used the rebuild plugin to create panelled versions. I thought it was cool and potentially useful for high tech backgrounds, although it does waste a lot of patches. [attachmentid=14460]

I've finally finished modeling what I had planned in mind. I modeled in the simplest way, but also effective. I used Freeman's tuturial for the teeth...Below is a pose slider test for my guy...Later you'll be seeing an attempt to lip syncing teeth. I thought about this and looked at myself in the mirror. The teeth barely move at all! And for some reason, when I lip sync with the teeth by moving it up and down naturally, it looks great! (lip sync tests coming later) Pose test Note: Due to Angelfire privacy, you must right click and push "save target as..." or you must right click, hit properties, copy the full web address in the box, and paste the address into…
