I just purchased 1 seat of the Hash 2008 Web Subscription. I'm liking it so far, but I've always been a fan of A:M. Speaking of Fans.... here is something I've been working on over the last couple of days. The real tricky part was actually figuring out how to make a hole in the wall for the fan assembly. There are several ways to do this but I would like to give the Hash Forum community a couple chances to guess what technique I used before exposing my final solution.

I am still having difficulties with decals. I know there was a thread earlier concerning the corruption when a decal is placed on the model. Can someone direct me to that thread or tell me what to do? The decals when placed on the model appear fine, but when rendered they are stretched or pixelated. Steve

This is a model I've been working on on/off since 2000 cd. I finally decided to post for some help. You may have seen him in a few things I've posted. He went under numerous changes through the years as I upgraded. He's all A:M, no decals. I do have a few things that bother me. (1) the eye brows are just splines drawn as lines. (2) I've tried modeling and decals with no success for the nostrals and the last thing is the bow on his tail. At some point I will break down and buy TSM, but I want to finish it before I rig him. I,ve had alot of inspiration. My house is an eeyore shrine. My wife loves him. So he's been my first model from the begining. Crits are why I've po…

I thought I'd try and finish a model I started awhile ago. And would like some feedback and suggestions. I got this far on the model last night, but I'm not very happy about the fingers. Possibly cylinders for the digits. I'm probably going to replace the chrome bits with the PowerBook material I made. The beige parts of the Larry 3000 were done using a biege (obviously) version of that mat. Anyhow, on to the image.

Recently I had the privilege of meeting Ken Baer and James Hash when they were in London for MacExpo. They mentioned that they are always looking for more promotional material so, when this came to mind while I was playing with some Loons, I decided to just do it. This is pretty rough but not bad for just over a days work on the animating. I hope to refine it, get rid of the camera motion, and add another 5 seconds at the end sometime. And of course there are no textures yet, except his eyes and eyebrows. The attached movie file is pretty low res.

A friend asked me to do a graphic for his Barbershop Quartet called "Four Aces" and this is what I came up with on the first attempt. Comments and Suggestions are welcome. The idea is the suits came from the cards that lay and stand in the background (that's the reason why the cards are missing their center suit graphic). http://www.wideopenwest.com/~johnjzsigo/Fo...1804%20crop.bmp --John Zsigo

Well, here it is, it took quite a while due to this short being, basically, my first shot at about everything in A:M and that I was also busy with other things. I think everything came out nicely and I would like your comments and suggestions. Alright, well here it is...

Hello, Here is an update of my 'Mumby" guy. Again this guy is simple a model for me to work on rigging with TSM2 and begin animation practice, so I'm not concerned about getting him perfect. Is there any way I can smooth him up a bit without tweaking splines? Also, with the rounded parts (front of feet, front of nose) I've got these funky triangles where it closes. Will it render like that, can I fix it some way? Also, does anyone know of a tutorial where I can make the surface look like plastic, or clay, or cartoonish in some manner? Something simple perhaps...

Here's a look at my Pass the Ball entry. It still needs some tweaking to make the ball movement smoother during the "circle pass" it needs to be a bit more circular. Also, when he tosses the ball offscreen, it should be quicker, I think. The final rendering is going to have a volumetric spotlight, too. I might do another one or two if I can come up with the moves and animate it in time. Lazlojuggle1.mov

Hi everybody... The image used in this calendar was created entirely in A:M. Open every day a new present till x-mas... Especially funny and well done is for example present 2. (but there are many good once!) Just to mention it: These clips are not created by 3We (or you will see it in the credits). It is just a compilation of funny or very well made commercials. Have fun! http://advent.3we.de See you *Fuchur*

Hi again everyone, Ok, have been re working a older project and have 2 questions with a problem. My model is moving through the Chor. and at frame 00:06:15 I want the model to stop, not move for about 10 frames (a pause) then resume it's motion. I have been over Robs Keyframe tuts. but still can not put my finger on how to make this happen, the model still drifts through the 10 frames. Question 2: On the attached image how do you tell what each line is for? Thanks Wally

Hey guys! Here is a character i've been working on the rigging for over the last week for a short film i'm involved in. So these are mainly to test out his skeletal rig (no facial poses yet) The rig I finally settled on uses the TSM2 and wieght mover, with Cog bones for the knees and elbows (Thank you Mike Fitzgerald!) and custom CP wieghting to fix a few other problems. The rig seems to be working pretty well so far, comments and crits welcome. -Ethan You may want to save these so you can play them looped in your player. Sorry I don't know how to automatically make the MOVs play looped. [attachmentid=16565] [attachmentid=16567] [attachmentid=16568…

I've been working on this model for a number of months, and I've finally rendered something presentable. It still needs some work, but I'm very happy with it as it is. This is the CSS Virginia, the first ironclad ship of the Civil War. I'm working on the USS Monitor, and I'll likely have it done in a few weeks. -The Bird Man

Just thought I'd show... I put a new clip up on my site... McDonalds restaurants wanted to previsualize what it would look like if they took a display from a flat 2D photo to a mocked 3D vacuum-form. 2 days later I had this model, fully extruded from the hero pose photo, and all one mesh. http://campbellanimation.com Comments welcome.

I can't get projection maps to apply as anything but spherical. I don't know what's up, probably me being an idiot somehow. I was wanting either a difuse map, or a color map (or both) but I can't get them to actually show up on my model unless I have the interpolation set to spherical. Otherwise, it doesn't show up at all. Any ideas as to what might be going wrong?

Hello, my dear colleagues! I represent one of the Russian resources, devoted to the study of our favorite program “Hash Animation Master”. Now we decide to carry out the first 3D contest on our site. So I appeal to you with a request to support our contest and take part in it. Your help is very important for us as it will promote the popularization of the program “Hash Animation Master” in Russia. For this purpose, the English- speaking forum, devoted to the contest, is opened specially for you http://www.hasher.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=884 . Perhaps it seems to you that the prizes of the contest are not so significant, but it’s only the beginning. At our foru…

Wasn't sure if people visit my small section of the forum. I tend to get... weird over there. However this thread is very safe and unpolitical . Yes, I'm tooting my own horn. We all like external gratification. (It's probably statements like that that scare people away from the Verns's World forum. ) I just added a new test of the stage crash on the last post. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&am...st&p=260577 I plan to have this short animation done in time for the NYCC (NY ComicCon) which Hash will be attending. I will be there myself most likely with some members of the MAAM group on Sat the 7th. I am plowing ahead full steam on this and will…

One of Many models I am working on for a personal project: It was inspired by the following image. Plus Crabs, Spiders and Turtles. Feng Zhu inspiration Here is afront leg about 2/3 modelled. I will take any constructive criticism OTHER THAN: Too many patches, I would have used a 5 point patch, etc...I model the patch style I do and I'm content.

He is not included texture, I only used simple surface colors and Mr. Yves Poissant's skin shader, because I want to concentrate on the animation. I'm waiting your opinions and good ideas about an kindergarten story or scene! Thanks before, Sharky Here are the pictures:

so I remembered I had one of those classic charlie ventriliquist doll thingies in my basement and I decided to try to model it...I'm very proud in the fact I'm still motivated to keep going..usually by now I'd be disappointed in myself cause of ugly creasing, but the only way to get better is to finish a model completely then try to do another one..completely..anyways... Note: in the render w/ out wires, there is ugly and annoying creasing/bumps in the nose and all around pretty much...anybody know why? I have a feeling it's an amateur thing because I notice a lot of other beginners like me have the same ugly, yet tolerable "mesh texture"...anyways..without furthe…

So, I just finished a banzai weekend doing the 48hr film project. Among other things (I was the DP) it was my job to do the credit sequence. The trick was that although I was allowed to create objects and images ahead of time, the animation all had to be completed within the 48 hrs. In fact, because I was DP, and due to the nature of the project, I actually had to create them Sunday morning. My solution was to do a credit sequence that required very little keyframing and used simcloth to do the hard labor. I am attaching the final sequence and the project (minus images) ready to simulate. I thought this came out pretty cool. endcred_low.mov credit_sequence.…

I have a new movie on my webpage: http://www.campbellanimation.com illustrating A:M's 'boolean's' cababilty in motion. This was a test I did last summer during the Logo contest so I used the A:M logo (my entry that is) in the test. Basicly, there is geometry (like an egg, or football) that is cutting and revealing other geometry in motion (the A:M logo)...the light streaks were done in AfterEffects using the 'shine' filter as an afterthought. If there is interest or questions I'll be happy to elaborate. It's actually quite straightforward- I keep referring to various A:M features as 'powerful stuff'...partly because I have been listening to some old 'Fabu…

While driving on vacation last week I noticed a lot of clouds unfortunately some of them attempted to wash my car. Anyway I got this idea for a new cloud material from watching them. Here it is applied to a flat plane for now with a little animation added to the turb on the gradients. Will have to try it on a "cloud" model also. this is the first render test johnl3d...note North Dakota has a lot of clouds newcloud.mov

I've never really modeled a good character before. I've had a script for awhile for a short I wanted to do, but never had an idea for a character. After seeing the incredibles, I had an idea what I wanted. I want to make a girl character something like Violet or Mirage (round heads smaller bodies). I don't have any real modeling experience with characters, so how should I go about making her?

Here is the latest from Ernie. It is a 1920's music video. This is an exciting cartoon for a couple of reasons. First, I got blink tracking working in ZignTrack. This gives the eyes a lot more expressiveness. It was pretty simple, I put tiny loops of blue masking tape on my top lashes and tracked them with the second eyebrow feature (which I wasn't using). Second, everything after tracking in ZT was done in A:M. I rendered the animation at 18fps. I created dust and scratch mattes using particles. I composited the dust and scratches and tinted it B&W. Finally I rerendered at 30fps with sound. (the scratches mostly got compressed out by Youtube…
