I really admire the work of some of the artist in architectural and I plan on doing some more tweaking as suggest for the brick. After getting hit by a truck, the chiropractor been really great and I am getting my hands back full time. last week I had 2 more fingers to go, and today feels pretty good. Still have headaches but not unbearable. I am going to be alright. Enough about me! this model nearing 30,000 patches, and I grab the plants from the data CD, and the garabge can as well. Unleash the criticism please. This house has posable garage door and blinds. Furnish dining room and working on master bathroom.

Hi Hashers Well I am posting a model that I started a while back for the next Bella Bear story and I wanted you lot to have a look and see what you thought. I am a bit concerned about the leaves on it. Do they look a bit cheapskate being decals or should I try and do something with sprites (not quite sure how do do this)? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have also added a few touches to the Bella Bear website: Bella Bear Website I am currently working on a kinda show reel for my creation to breath life into me characters and I thought I would tart-up the website in the meantime. Not much has changed but any tips on what I should or s…

I'm trying to get a car model in shape. Have been working around with the airplain example, and switched them into a Citroèn. Think I made some failure in the perspective, because it got some scratches. Made myself a bit difuse for keeping all part-names for decaling. Fun to do!

Actually the question is open to anyone. I would like to have a strong contrasting shadow cast on the ground but have a light reflecting on the character's face. When I add any light and direct it up from just above the ground plane it removes the shadow on the ground. Can someone suggest the best type of light for this? I have tried all types at various strengths but have yet to find the solution. Any resemblance between this character and anyone we may know is purely coincidental. It is meant to be humourous and is not intended to offend anyone, even if they don't like the English. Paul Forwood

This is a flea character for our little film. There is a QT view of him here. It's coming together quite well now. The voice track is almost completed (I have one person yet to record) and a team starting to animate. We've been modelling mostly up to now. [attachmentid=15198]

Just a little something I was busy on this weekend, thought I could get some comments. I modeled a Starship Enterprise and it was my goal to get it as detailed as possible. It's still in the works. (I have to add an animated door, some decals and some lights.) Without further adeu, the Big-E! I also decided to do a drastic re-design of the Galileo. It' was inspired by an Enterprise-E shuttle. Please give me some feedback!

Hello friends: Just wanted to post my contest entry and a wireframe of the scene. I've worked on it a little bit more, but the basics are unchanged. I really wanted to keep the modeling to a minimum and concentrate more on the mood and lighting. AM v.15 has been very stable when it came to putting all these lights in a scene. Most of the lights have lens flares turned on to get the effect I was after. I also used smoke particles, although the background is comprised of two camera rotoscopes, one with stars and moon, and the other one with the majority of the background smoke. Feel free to leave any comments or questions. -E

So it's been a while since I hunkered down and actually got some work done in A:M. So I spent this weekend playing with particles and materials trying to get a good molten rock effect. so I wound up with this guy. Then seeing as my TSM2 no longer works I watched the video tutorials on setting up the squetch rig. Turned out it was not as bad as I thought. I still have to fix the CP assignments (autoassign mangled it a bit) and figure out the compensate mode adjustments, but I'm making progress. Installing the rig was easier than I expected so a big kudos to everyone who has been working on it. (and I'm looking forward to the action Install and …

No compositing, strait out of AM. AO30 49 passes. The ultimate goal is a group of about 30 characters such as these will be animated in a type of commercial representing my combined experience, skills and talents.

Hello, all! I just bought A:M about three weeks ago, after reading a press release that an OS X version had been released. I'm not a 3D artist, but I am a graphic designer and A:M seemed like an affordable way to experiment and play with 3D. Anyway, as I started playing, I decided I'd focus on trying to figure out how to model some of the comic characters I'd worked on in the past and decided I'd start with a parody of Star Trek I'd started as a web comic back in 1996 and then did as a PDF comic in 2000. The character designs I'd used were pretty simple and there was a focus on character to them, rather than striving for likenesses. (You never know what they'll …

I saw a crab model on another forum and wondered if AM would be capable of similar. I think I convinced myself that AM is...mostly. The only thing missing from the model is about a hundred spikes. Not only do I not have time to model all that but I did some tests with displacement maps and if they didn't need so many patches, they would be perfect for such details. Anyway, this is as far as I'm taking it for now and wanted to show it.

Hey guys, I've spent the last day or two tinkering around with the idea of a low-res BB batman for fun. Anyway, I couldn't find many great reference images, so the majority of the work has been guessing. Meh, I'm not losing much sleep over it either. I know there are a couple hard angles and other kinks to work out, but I don't intend to render this guy at 800 x 600 at all. ...Tommorrow, the utility belt.

Howdy folks, I decided to revive an old short that I was working on back in 2000 at least that's the oldest renders I found, I think I started it earlier. With some of the new features in A:M I think it will be easier to accomplish some things. Such as CP Weights, Dynamic Bones, etc. Plus it will help me to get into practice with some of A:M's new features before doing a bigger project. Anyways here are a couple screen shots and a little pose test anim I did back then. Hopefully I can stay motivated and get it done this time. testing_pose_slip.mov

Hi Fellow A:M users, I have another model I'm working on, which is based on a real life guy. A few months ago, I found out about this Kiss-Like Japanese Metal/Rock band called Seikima-II (Disbanded 1999). I really liked the band and descided to do a 3D model on lead singer Demon Kogure. here are some images. I have to work on the hair later. His hair is suppose to be spikey. I was thinking of using hair particles, but found it too difficult to control. I'm going to try to texture the hair instead. The armor still needs work. DaVinci's ideally proportional man (Vitruvian) was used as a roto to modify Thom into a more current "generic man" (note the beer belly). I have yet to rig him, but will probably be using 2001 skeleton, as I don't need the complexity or options of the squetch rig. He will have no mouth, eyes, ears, hands, or feet, other than what you see here... I used a "pencil sketch" trial with bitmap plus to get his basic texture... My character needs no more... though I'd like to figure out how to disguise the seam down the middle of his torso. What I'd like to get is some feed back as to his general appearance, whether you can "relate" to him or not and general "…

I set aside the Fish Project for a week or so and worked on other stuff. I had the Pose Sliders all built and ready for a sound file. When I opened the .prj today, none of the sliders worked. These three were the worst. The teeth, and tongue, which were to show briefly on TH and FV were the worst, moving out through the mesh. In all of them, the lower jaw worked very little-to-none-at-all. This is major discouragement. Has anyone else experienced this?

So, part of the shoulder joint I had been using in cogs had a bone put in to move it off center when the arm moved. Now with expressions added to the software I wanted to give the joint another look and after almost putting my head through the wall over the math last week, I have gotten to testing this on some of my models that have gone by the wayside.... if you get a min, take a looksee..... This is an improved, higher resolution version of my 2nd place winning entry for the July 2004 Sci-Fi/Fantasy image contest. The original version can be seen here on A:M Stills. I've tried rendering this scene in both A:M version 11.1i and 12.0e. The rendering done in 12.0e, shown in this post, has much better quality image maps, but it took me over three hours to render it in 12.0e as opposed to 22 minutes in 11.1i. Can anything be done about that?

Orange Lilies As some may recognize, this was my contest entry for April. I almost didn't enter it since it is seriously flawed but I ran into several problems that couldn't be fixed or worked around in any timely fashion. However, the painterly aspect I was striving for shows and I am loathe to abandon the image so as the spirit moves me, I will continue to improve upon it. First, the trees will all be replaced, hopefully by trees created in AM with the TreeeZ plugin. These were created in XFrog and imported into AM as props. The problem is that the leaves on the trees do not render correctly - the alpha channel is ignored. I don't know if this a problem with t…

Hi all I figured I should post my contest contribution on the forum. I bought this helicopter just a few months ago, and of course I had to model it:) I've always been an r/c guy but haven't used helicopters before (no I don't count those 30 bucks styrofoam toys we was playing with at the hash bash, lol). I've been busy with this. Roughly 24 hours modeling, 8 UV Mapping & Texturing, 12 rigging. Here's the result so far: No matter what I've tried, I haven't been able to get the front legs to look right. I think I'm going to have to make them a separate group with their own hair system, so that I can control the density separately. I've been trying to hold off on that, because I don't want to re-groom, but I guess I I'll have to. I built the rig myself, which wound up being easier than I thought. I couldn't use TSM because bears don't have the back legs of a quadruped, they have back legs like a biped. So, with some trial and error, I managed to co…
