I was just playing around with Steffen's e_rebuild plugin. WARNING: Graphic in nature (or maybe not). Although, if you hold it on frame 31, it looks kind of like a Christmas tree. viking.mov

Hi everyone, Well, the school holidays end and so does my productivity. Before I get back into the nitty grity of teaching students, I thought people might be interested in the latest 'character' to use the term loosely. There is a little test animation on the below link http://www.shaunfreeman.com/ant.htm I rigged this guy by hand using Billy Egginton's setup, as it seemed easier given he has SIX legs? It took a while, but I am happy with the result In any case, peoples thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!

I made this card just for the hell of it. I wanted to try some front projection so I grabbed an older character of mine and used a family friends' picture and added the "Christmas" part. The funny thing is they liked it so much they are going to send it as an E-card, haha. I blurred out their face because I didn't really think they'd want everyone seeing them. Thanks for looking. Here's a 3-4th view in the chor too.

Hello all, I've decided to embark on my first short short short film. If you follow the link below you can see "Donny" the main character. I would like any comments, impressions you might have. Is this someone you'd like to look at for a minute or so? Wires and other renders to follow. Thanks for thoughts. Doug click here for Character : Donny

Hi Spliners, here you can find a short video - sequence ... in this sequence I'd tested the Hair - Forces. becurse of this, the gras is moving a bit to strange but it shows clearly my problem ... The whole mass of gras is moving in the same rhythm ... Is there a way to put a turbulence to the force or control the Mass with an Image like black has a mass of 1 and white a mass of 0.1? Or are there some other ideas of creating some turbulence in the grass? CU Maszie

Hello everone does anyone have any idea what happed to shaun freeman. The first and last I heard of shaun was form the hash demo sync he made for AM. His demo is the best and most realistic I have ever seen. But his Demo act has no dope sheet for the words. So I am guessing he must have used some other program to do the lip sync. His poses for the Lips and mouth have noe Phoneme, Mind you I think the dictionary needs to be edited. The C D G N R S TH Y Z dont real make the same lip poses nor dose M P B. I guess shaun realised this and has found some t other way to do the lip sync. I have re worked his modle to use the phonemes that hash uses but the effect is n…

Hi larry - loved your character so much as shown in this thread http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&sh...ndpost&p=149036 (and I was coincidently working on animating a flame for myself) - so here is a test movie with project I decaled the yellow flame part with an animated sequence - used distortion box in an action to change shape over time, & I varied color over time, - one could also play with varying ambiance, transparency, roughness for sparks, etc - use a better flame sequence for the decals - etc, change glow parameters in chor. hope this helps some to get you going (if you haven't already) Fire.zip fire.mov

About twelve years ago, when CD's were a hot new technology, I had a client who needed a logo/avatar for a "CD Studio". "The Bean" suddenly appeared as a doodle in the margin: a blobby character with pipestem arms and legs, no features, surfing on a CD with a stack of three over his head. He was never submitted, but I have somehow retained a fondness for him. Over the years, I have built, and re-built The Bean in evey 3D app. that passed through my hands. Now it's A:M's turn.

Actually the question is open to anyone. I would like to have a strong contrasting shadow cast on the ground but have a light reflecting on the character's face. When I add any light and direct it up from just above the ground plane it removes the shadow on the ground. Can someone suggest the best type of light for this? I have tried all types at various strengths but have yet to find the solution. Any resemblance between this character and anyone we may know is purely coincidental. It is meant to be humourous and is not intended to offend anyone, even if they don't like the English. Paul Forwood

Test animation. I used Anders Avero's excellent 'Rain effects' plug-in for the rain hitting the puddles. Some post effects were done in DogWaffle (I over did it a bit I think) and there are obviously other things to correct but I thought I'd post to show we are actually doing some work on this pilot film Haunted House movie

I used the dynamic constraint on one of my model characters. It's been working really well. When they walk, certain body parts move almost realistclly. However, the biggest issue has been when I render the walking animation to video file, the dynamic effect stops moveing or does'nt move on the video as much as they moved on the basic action screen mode. I'm wondering is there a certain configuration you have to set in the rendering properties to see the dynamic constraint movements in the renderd video files or is it something else that I'm doing wrong? Any one please help!!!

I finally got my 15-year old reel back from the guy who transformed it to a DVD-ROM AVI for me. Let me just say that upon further review - this isn't as good as I remember! Anyway, I promised I would post it so here it is. I did this in 1990 in my senior year at Columbia. I do remember it being a lot of work, the total time of actual animation is about 17 seconds, BUT much of it is reused/flipping cels and so forth to avoid doing too much work so the piece suffers from that. The actual animating of the duck is not too good either! But it was fun - and a lot of work - to do. In 15 years the film really suffered pretty bad. The color is all washed out and the…

Since people are getting more and more interested in 3D cars...a little show-and-tell. I work in Detroit for 'DivisionX', which is a 3D/graphics department of Grace & Wild, a major post-production house. DivisionX is a small group of Maya artists who have come up with a 'formula-approach' for recreating photorealistic cars and have successfully captured a peice of that blooming market. I am not a 'sheetmetal guy', so I handle the day to day graphics and do character animation for the group and facility... so I am 'loosely' a part of the group. This summer, while toying around with Maya, I tried to export a vehicle to A:M to see how A:M would handle the task,…

OK so, for the past 3 months ive been working on this project for a friend of mine he is going to be building an apartment in his basement and came to me as a cheaper alternative to a architect. first half was taking measurements (got about 6 pages worth), then i had to get the base drawings down (took me weeks!). now im finally up to building the model to scale. theres 2 more steps before i complete this project. next step is to get full size renders of the finished basement. then is to design a program for a virtual walkthru of the basement. right now im doing the test renders of the finished basement. wanted to get some opinions and ideas on the best w…

Hi all. I really like what the programmers did with ver11, especially the way the panels slided in and out to have more room to work with. Hey guys, I've spent the last day or two tinkering around with the idea of a low-res BB batman for fun. Anyway, I couldn't find many great reference images, so the majority of the work has been guessing. Meh, I'm not losing much sleep over it either. I know there are a couple hard angles and other kinks to work out, but I don't intend to render this guy at 800 x 600 at all. ...Tommorrow, the utility belt.

Orange Lilies As some may recognize, this was my contest entry for April. I almost didn't enter it since it is seriously flawed but I ran into several problems that couldn't be fixed or worked around in any timely fashion. However, the painterly aspect I was striving for shows and I am loathe to abandon the image so as the spirit moves me, I will continue to improve upon it. First, the trees will all be replaced, hopefully by trees created in AM with the TreeeZ plugin. These were created in XFrog and imported into AM as props. The problem is that the leaves on the trees do not render correctly - the alpha channel is ignored. I don't know if this a problem with t…

well... I hope to be finished within the next 2 or 3 days... with Xmas just around the corner I'm not sure how much time i can spend on post and rendering... Speaking of rendering, does anyone have any suggestions? While doing a test render, i noticed some plack artifacts around the particle systems, but I kind of want to keep it well lit and cheery... is there even a way to keep it close to the workspace render... given time constraints I may only have one shot at it. I'm posting some screen shots without facial expressions or secondary movements (also without hair or particle systems). (See images below)

Way back in July, barely 2 months after getting animation master, I decided I would make the opening video for Animethon 12 in full 3D. By that time I had played around with the program enough to get a good start on one of my characters, Phin-Phin, whom you saw with her car in a previous thread here. And by that time I had created a Fuchicoma from the Ghost in the Shell manga and PSX game. Quite literally I was cutting my teeth on the program and using this excuse to create something really cool to help me learn how to animate with AM. I managed to create 2 pieces specifically for Animethon 12 that was to be shown August 5th, with one week to spare. T…

In the first clip called water.mov, you'll notice black speckles on the trees. I've narrowed this down to doing a final render with at least 4 passes and with "soften" on and of course having hair with targa files and a alpha channel. Most likely I could render this with A-buffer rendering without black speckles, but then the precedural bump on the water doesn't show. That would mean no water flow. The second clip has two segments. On the first segment, you'll see rippling in the water. That was done with an animated decal and setting the first and last frame in the choreography. Unfortunately, after saving the project and opening it back up again, the key fram…

Three animations I have been playing with over the last couple of years in the gallery at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~s_bruce/index.html Its the first time I have thrown a web page up so hopefully it all works. They are all exercises I have used to learn AM for another project. Although I am tempted to do some shorts with the frog. The Aloevera flower spike is 2 models. The stem and a bud which is attached to it 80 times. Took a while to render but not as bad as the frog which averaged 2.5 hrs per frame. I'm trying to make headlights on a truck using two Rim lights. However, to work, they need to be Volumetric lights so I can see the projected light cones. From the moment I turned on 'Volumetric', they were out of sync. I cannot get the light on the left [our left] to throw a beam as far as the right. Last night the left looked more like a yellow plastic cone and the right had dark banding in it. Both are more well-behaved this morning. I'm looking for something like the light on the wall [streetlight] which, in itself, is was an adventure of chasing numbers. Seems even the size and shape of the Rim light has a huge difference on how the light projects. Is Volumetric…

Now I ask does this look right? rate.mov rate.zip I was doing this because of a question I received about expressions and I thought this would be easier Its a little rough but I am half asleep Johnl3d tink
