Been working on a commission for a friend and was running into a problem with the fire ring. I have created a circle spline path and attached a fire emitter on that path to create my "ring of fire". For some reason the path it takes looks like so: And the render: test2.mov I can't figure out why the streaks stay on a hexagonal path dispite it being attached to a circle. Any ideas?

Hey all, The rock band Rush is coming out with a new album soon. To show my appreciation -- and to pass the time while waiting -- I've started working on a little fanimation. Right now, I'm at the modelling stage. Here's what I've got so far: Feedback and constructive criticism are welcome. A:M's SSS feature rocks! Btw, I'm sorry if it's inappropriate to post this. a proud donor to Neil Peart's motorcycle gas money, Tai

Hey folks. As a way to help re-learn A:M, I decided to model the U.S.S. Enterprise from the original Star Trek series. There are so many things that I forgot how to do over the past few months, that there is a lot of trial and error going on here. Slowly coming back though... Al This one of the sheets of blueprints that I am working from. And here is the modelling so far.

Taking a break from my portfolio (well...... I've just been rendering for a week straight now) and I decided to have some fun and try to model for a change. and here's the result.... First Tsurugi For those of you not into Video Games or Anime (I like to hope were all at least into animation here at least ) This is the sword Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7 uses in the CG movie Advent Children. (picture from the movie) Thought it would be something cool to model. I rigged it to work just like the sword in the movie. Six swords combining into one. I posted a quick demo just to give you an idea how the model works. tsword.mov …

Started fooling around with building heads. Nothing much to brag about yet, but this little guy happened yesterday afternoon. A bit lumpy, but maybe I can get the mouth to work. So I biult the body. The hands will follow tonight. s'Got a vaguely Irish look to him. What should I call him, Ken?

I tried a bit of an animation test with one of Shelton's characters, rigged with the A:M 2008 rig, to get in some practice with it (the rig) before the forum project gets started into high gear. This is just what I've come up with this weekend, between other non-animation things. There is no face rig on this character, so the animation is only body mechanics. I'm only mostly done up until frame 8:03 or so. I'm rather satisfied with most of the movement for him getting up, although there are probably a couple of small things I'd clean up after fleshing out the walk off of screen (listed below). After 8:03, there is just gross body movements that approximate walking …

Hi everybody, My first bigger 3-D Animation job is online now and I am eager to hear your opinions. Its the middle-toonpart of a flash-animation. To view it go to: http://www.vw-polo.de then wait until the "real"-animation of the car has ended. Then you can choose > Helden (heroes ) > Gewinner (winner) > Abenteurer ( adventurer) now you get my toonrenndered animations ... at the end with "nochmal spielen" you can play it again. Great thanks to everybody, who helped me on finishing this job. I learned a lot ;>) Jake

Hey Gang, I almost hesitate to post this in the "showcase" forum because it is very much a project that was kept under the covers while I learned to use Animation Master, and that was it's purpose. But it's gotta be done, i've been putting it off for two years! It wasn't designed to wow everyone with artistic talent, explosions, and fast paced gunplay. I learned EVERYTHING there is to know about how NOT to make an animation while creating this piece. The reason I am posting it in it's entirety is as a small thank you to the whole Animation Master Community, and every single one of you who has put up with my questions and stupidities over the years. To Hash as …

Please testdrive and examine this baby as hard as you can. Comments welcome. Maybe we could make a new comunity short animation project with it? Just an idea. By the way, I tried to write some notes and description in the fileinfo, no succsess. Is there some special trick to do so? Since I'm starting over, I always start with this. It's my favorite vehicle from my favorite movie. There are no decals, yet. I'm still building it. Eventually, it will have an R2 socket and completely animated. It comes directly from the 1977 schematics and my personal memory of having the physical model. It is a work in progress. It's awesome to have this outlet.

Since people are getting more and more interested in 3D cars...a little show-and-tell. I work in Detroit for 'DivisionX', which is a 3D/graphics department of Grace & Wild, a major post-production house. DivisionX is a small group of Maya artists who have come up with a 'formula-approach' for recreating photorealistic cars and have successfully captured a peice of that blooming market. I am not a 'sheetmetal guy', so I handle the day to day graphics and do character animation for the group and facility... so I am 'loosely' a part of the group. This summer, while toying around with Maya, I tried to export a vehicle to A:M to see how A:M would handle the task,…

Stian, I followed your tutotrial on putting a model and image based lighting together as described in your Ecto thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...hl=ghostbusters The problem I am having has been narrowed down to the Global Ambiance Type in the Chor settings. When I set that to Image based Lighting while using a Dosh Designs Light Probe image, I get an image saturated with bright blue - see image. I've changed to another Light Probe image with the same results. The other settings are as per your tutorial - Ambiance intensity 100%, Ambiance occlusion 100%, mapping type - Light Probe, Exposure - 0, Azimuth - 0. All lights are off with the ground m…

This is my first attempt at radiosity rendering in A:M. It took me about 2 hrs to model, 1/2 hour to setup and 22:25 to render at 1024x768. Not bad seeing that I used materials for everything except the white tiles on the chessboard. Space backdrop courtesy of NASA. I hope ya like it. Let me know what you think.

** UPDATE: 4/15/04: scroll down ** Hey there, hashin' community. I'm in a pickle with a new character model. I'm making these fat, bean/potato-shaped robots. Their bodies have a very smooth, regular surface, which is the source of my worry. Have a look. (Hands and eyes coming soon.) Belly Bot, body Belly Bot, mouth My problem is with the mouth. Victor Navone's posts on Giant are really awesome. I wanted to try out his system, but I think it demands more skill than I have at the present time... So I'll stick with poses. Anyway, you can perhaps see my problem. This character's mouth adheres to a surface that is best described as conic -- it curv…

Well gang, I tried but I didn't quite finish it in time (yes I could technically work on it tonight but I wouldn't have enough time to do a good render) I'm going to work on the image some more anyway and finish it in my leisure time so I can enjoy the experience instead of rushing and not being happy about it. Still in the progress of rigging her so I can pose her, and she still needs decals (everything there now is 100% procedurals)... and I had grander plans for the textures in the background that I had abandoned to finish in time for the contest but that I will do now since I don't have a deadline. Well, im back to teaching Martial arts and personal training. My master is putting together a fight choreography scene for a internet movie, and I though I take the time to mess with Hash again. See if I can put together a fight scene in 3D. So I still need more time to polish the model and tweak the bump map on the torso. More nurnnys on the sword. Been awhile, and rehashing the things I know about hash. So this is my spare model that I am redoing, I have another I want to use, but using this one to figure my way around. If anyone remember my old project will remember Erica, I haven't given her new hair yet, thats next.

Whipped this up in an hour for my reel...shows some of the capabilities of Steffan Gross's AWESOME newton Physics plug-in...which I am gonna use every chance I get. The collision detection scheme is the BEST I've seen yet coming out of A:M, and the plug-in is oh-so-easy to use. A GREAT addition to A:M's toolset. At D1 res each frame took 40 seconds. (No multipass) And big thanks to whoever wrote the helpful tutorial for the plug-in... I've lost the name. QUICKTIME is Sorenson3 compressed .8mb MCsmall.mov

Hi Fellow A:M users, I have another model I'm working on, which is based on a real life guy. A few months ago, I found out about this Kiss-Like Japanese Metal/Rock band called Seikima-II (Disbanded 1999). I really liked the band and descided to do a 3D model on lead singer Demon Kogure. here are some images. I have to work on the hair later. His hair is suppose to be spikey. I was thinking of using hair particles, but found it too difficult to control. I'm going to try to texture the hair instead. The armor still needs work. I've been working on a "waves at night with moon" scene for a bit. I think it needs more work, especially with the fog, but I'm sure there is more to improve. I want it to look as photoreal as possible, but I need to find some reference photos or head out to the lake one of these nights to see how it really looks. Any critiques or comments would be great. I'll try to explain more, especially the problems I'm having with the fog, when I have the time, but I have a busy day ahead so I need to go to sleep. Thanks, --Ross
