In trying to learn modeling I gave myself the task of creating my Juno 60 synth in AM. The shadows are a little dark around the black keys in one of close ups, as I was trying to show of the glowy numbers. This was a fun build, not 100 percent accurate, but still pretty close. Learned a lot about decaling and using Illustrator, thanks for all the help from Vern and Robocat.

This is a problem that arises from time to time as you all know. The spinning prop. Here’s how I handled it. I created a three frame action. I rotated the bone prop this way. Frame 0: 0 degrees. Frame 1: -120 degrees. Frame 2: -240 degrees. ( the plus or minus determines the direction of rotation, I wanted it clockwise from the pilot’s point of view) I added 10 percent blur. (Default is 20) But I was still getting a solid prop. To overcome this I made the blades 85 percent transparent. But in the action I only rendered frames 0 and 1. I did this because the blur won’t show up on frame 3. I’ve enclosed a single frame image as well as the actio…

I think what's gonna happen next is he's gonna go back around and do it again except the plank won't move when he goes up... I won't say any more about the ending botexploresplank1.mov

Hi Hashers Well I thought I would post a little segment from my latest 'Bella Bear' extravaganza. The finished flick itself is only a small segment from one of my stories and will only be just over a minute long when finished... When done I will post the whole thing (hopefully by the end of next month) - enjoy! Alf's Appearance

Well after a little bit here, a little bit there and over four months later I have more or less finished my latest flick from the Bella Bear Project I have been working on... It still needs some refinement and I have banged my head against the wall a fair few times, especially with particles and volumetric lights but this is as far as I have got - please be kind I couldn't resist showing you what I have been up too... Peg to the rescue Be warned it is 10.6mb big - broadband connection recommended!

Being a huge Doctor Who Fan I thought I would need my own TARDIS. I have been watching the latest series and just got back in to how cool Doctor Who was. This TARDIS is to scale based on plans I found on the internet somewhere. Some guys actually build real versions. The doors open and close and as soon as I finish up a couple of clean ups on the model, I will post it up here fo anyone that wants to use it. Image: You can download a larger version of the rendering below.

Hey guys, I have entered Revver's next film contest, this one has the April fools theme. I started out to do a basic ball movement test, but as soon as the contest was announced I changed my whole outlook on the animation. Let me know what you guys think, thanks! Maybe I can get first this time around? April Fools - Flash April Fools - Quicktime

I am trying to put together a simple animation. I posted this character a little while ago and asked about rigging it. Anyway I have it rigged enough to test a simple walk test. The character is far from done but just asking for comments so far, tried some simple dynamic constraints also. Thanks Johnl3d [attachmentid=20218] piga2.mov

This is not the contest thread but don't miss it. Go over to The Contest Thread and Vote! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is just my almost ran image thread. Well, the pressure is off. I missed the deadline for the contest but as I had a couple of festive images on the boil I am going to post them here anyway. This image was a mock up of what I was going for with my first image. It is all A:M, (11.1 and 12), but is a composite on three layers. When I finish working on the second image I will get back to this one, finishing the sleigh, better poses for the figures, get the hair flowing and add a prope…

I've seen a few Lego models made with A:M earlier, and since I played with Lego all the time as a kid I wanted to model a Lego model myself. Yet again I went to a toy store and bought a toy. I must say that I don't like all the new special bricks they make now, I miss the good old Lego. Anyway, I went for a truck (with a push_forward_engine), and after a few days here is the result: I've made every single brick (with bevels everywhere), even the bricks not visible, no cheating, cause I wanted to test the Newton plug-in on this one. Unfortunately I have had no luck with the plug-in yet, need to experiment some more. I've attached two renders, one standard AO with a li…

I have attached a file of a short scene rendered in 'Final' output. The 'shag emitter' used to simulate grass displays unwanted changes in the background during the animation (beginning on 2nd frame, and then again at about 2 1/2 seconds in). This anamoly does not appear when rendering in 'shaded' mode. Could the problem be that 'dynamics' is defaulted to "on" in the 'shag emitter'? I'd like some advice before rendering again - this 3 second shot took 17 hours to render at HDTV 1080 resolution. Which brings me to my next question. What is the recommended rendering resolution to bring my targa files into Adobe Premiere 2 for compiling. My intended output will be DVD…

I've searched through the manuals looking for info on how to access Alpha Channels, but nobody says much more than it can be done. When I get the tanks going, I want several attack-choppers to sweep in shooting. I want motion blur on the rotors, but not in the whole scene. I figured to turn off everything in the scene, leaving only the turning blades, run the anim., then turn off the rotors, run again, and composite in Premier. But where do I go to get Alpha Channel mode?

Hello, We have been busy and I didn't want to post too many WIPs, but I have a few more for you. These clips are just tests to see how the models hold up for animation/rendering. Of course we are rendering everything in HD720, but a few things have to be rendered smaller for testing- (especially those containing multiple volumetric lights). Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that the purpose of these clips are to show the models in lighting. There is one lipsync in there that is incomplete, because I didn't really want to go into simulating the cloth(It's all about the face/the arms are STIFF). Thankyou! Click on the pic! This topic is also posted here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&am...st&p=243770 Basicly, this technique is a way to have cloth deform a bulky object, just like it does with a button except using a bunch of bones instead of one. Since cloth is made up of a flat mesh, you can add objects to the surface via path constraint to the cloth's splines, to allow the objects to stay with the cloth... well! This is done with constraints/bones, so why couldn't you do it also with bones in an object like a rope or a backpack (Woot). :: You can create a cloth grid and set up as you would normal cloth on a character. Don't forget to make a deflector o…

Thought I'd try something today just for kicks. I had noticed in v14 that you can export OBJ files... I don't recall in previous versions of having a workable feature of this. So - I decided to test it out in getting some displacement and normal map textures for a model. I started with a basic 4 point patch and unwrapped it for texturing purposes - and so that when I export the model I'd have it already unwrapped for whatever program I use to sculpt the texture details in. Once I exported this patch I loaded it up in my sculpting app.. For this test I used Silo. I sculpted in a sort of - I guess you'd call it an eye and then exported the displacement map and No…

I was trying to show as speed increased there was faster tire rotation so I made the rotation in an action and gave it stride length then constrained the tire to a path. the first second I set the ease at 15% so the tire would rotate slow as it moved then at the end of the 3rd second I had ease 100% so it would race to the end.I added some streaks to help show the movement as well as a marking on the tire. Now I ask does this look right? rate.mov rate.zip I was doing this because of a question I received about expressions and I thought this would be easier Its a little rough but I am half asleep Johnl3d tink

Back at the last mascot contest I started to work on a couple of characters that I intended to turn into a very short short. I did a number of animated tests before deciding to scrap one of the characters and start again. As I was sorting through some folders today I came across some of these old tests and I realised that this stuff might never see the light of day again so I decided to post a sample here incase anyone is interested. and some pre-race warmup:

This one is for the gurus and experts out there that know a lil sumthin sumthin about the capabilities of physic simulations in Hash AM. Yesterday I saw the movie Untraceable and there was a scene were a guy fell from a bridge. To me it looked quite good, but I wondered if they used physics simulation and a CG stunt double for the action. I tried recreating this scene in Hash, but I'm quite the novice with the physics stuff to really understand what needs to be setup and done. Is it possible to have a rigged human character and constrain with a Rigid Body constraint and have it simulate realworld physics? Not getting very far in Hash, I decided to switch…

Sorry I know it is boring but I wanted a critique before I move on to giving the ball some personality. Any and all opinions welcome. Also, I am using 3% motion blur. What are people's thoughts on MB? When I didn't use any the animation looked kind of "jumpy". When I used more (>5%) parts of the ball looked fragemented. Is it a question of finding just the right %? http://www.youtube.com/user/Pesto642

I did a test today that turned-out quite nicely with BIG help from our friend, Newton Dynamics... (attached 4mb QT) Basically, I made a 'beer-bong' (a funnel on top and a long tube) and set about 50 lathed 'Platelets' above it, set the gravity to -5%... and simulated! Afterwards, I wanted the animation to be slower and smoother- so I 'group-grabbed' all the simulated keyframes from the 50 Platelets and spread them out... I used a SYMBIONT material called 'Plush' to texture the platelet and the vein. The client wanted this to be a 'medical-meets-anime' look, so I toon-rendered and regular rendered and combined the 2 in After Effects. For a quick half-day test, n…

This is a animation for my students, I teach 4th grade. We learn about transportation in social studies (Michigan Studies) so I created an animation to show how railroad tracks go together. I'm hoping to add more detail and more content to different animations as time goes on. This was my main reason buying AM, when I saw the program at a technology conference, I wanted to use it to help teach my students. I have to add sound and a voice over. This animation is a little rough, because I slowed some parts down in iMovie after I saw how fast some parts were. Let me know what you think. Andy track_animation.mov

Hello friends: Just wanted to post my contest entry and a wireframe of the scene. I've worked on it a little bit more, but the basics are unchanged. I really wanted to keep the modeling to a minimum and concentrate more on the mood and lighting. AM v.15 has been very stable when it came to putting all these lights in a scene. Most of the lights have lens flares turned on to get the effect I was after. I also used smoke particles, although the background is comprised of two camera rotoscopes, one with stars and moon, and the other one with the majority of the background smoke. Feel free to leave any comments or questions. -E
