DON'TS!
-Do Not be rude or disrespectful or mean to other forum members in any way. Personal attacks will be removed.
-Do Not post bug/crash reports to the list (send bug/crash reports to http://www.hash.com/reports.
-Do Not complain about forum content. Complaints or suggestions can be sent directly to hash@hash.com

-No posting of private email to the forum unless permission of the author is granted. (Private correspondence should remain private)

If you have questions as to whether it's appropriate, send it to: support@hash.com, We'll be happy to let you know whether it is, or is not appropriate.
User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.
Thanks for making the A:M Forum a great community.

Hi Everyone, Firstly, I would like to say although I am a newbie, this appears to be a GREAT forum!!! Everyone seems to be very helpful, considerate, and well wishing. I am really happy I decided to buy A:M! I'm trying to create a very simple model of a bed. At times, I would like to draw a straight line that is perpendicular to another line which results in a 90 degree Angle. I'm sure the method is in the book or has been discussed in the forum, I just can't seem to find a way to do this. Does anyone know how I can do this? Thanks again, Bob

All I'm trying to do is to have a ball rotate 360 degrees on the Y axis. If you look at it from the top, what happens is it goes counter clockwise to 180 degrees then goes back to zero clockwise. What I used to do was just set the rotation to 359 degrees and then it would rotate once. What do I have to do in AM? I know I'm missing something simple. Thanks

Hello, In bone mode, the Ctrl key help to move the bone with his CPs. But this short keys don't work with weight. So when a CP is 50% assigned to "bone1" 50% with "bone2", it do as there are 100% with "bone1" and 0% with "bone2" It is there a short keys that takes into account the weights in bone mode? In the same idea. When I move a CP, it is there a short keys that CP does not change the distribution of weights? When I add a CP on a segment of a spline, it is there a short keys that it takes the value of places where it is located between the other two CP?

I have some problems and therefore question with the use of multiple chor actions: 1) Multiple chor actions are used for better structuring a scene, correct? 2) When I create a new choreo action, the first key frames are always automatically drawn at the beginning of the whole choreo (starting that way long before the action's chor range; see attachment). Can't I have the action really only start at the exact frame the action is meant to begin? 3) Do I have to start every chor action with a full keyframe on all bones to get my desired action? An unkeyed bone - due to the effect from my previous question - gets his "history" from the first choreo frame! …

Hi. I purchased the 15.0 v of the A:M DISC (the upgrade from the previous version). I did buy this on this site. Now, when I put the disc in the drive and click the shortcut, it says it can't find the disc? I tried it on two different computers and the same problem appears. Is it the disc? The disc seems "level" when placed on a flat surface..... any ideas please?? update: If I put the disc in, and run the 13.0v shortcut, it runs. But when I run the 15.0v it says "insert the correct DVD-ROM(HASH)". I haven't used this in awhile, so it wasn't sitting by any heat or anything.... update 2: Ok...bare with me. The 12.0 version of the disc has the YETI. …

Hello there, I cannot seem to find my Animation Master DVD that has the encyclopedia of reference material that came out with the last AM. Of course, I have the CD. 1) Is there an FTP site available to download a zip or somesuch of the DVD? 2) If not, is there a POC I can contact to purchase a replacement? 3) How can I find out when my AM subscription for the year expires? If its soon, I'll just purchase the upgrade (assuming it will still have the DVD?). Thanks so much! John Simons

How do I go from running to easing into a pose. I am not very good at explaining but I will do my best. I have the shaggy running (Using the running action in the library) along a path and am trying to get him to be able to ease into a pose after he slows down. The problem I am having is I can't get him to run and then ease into the pose. Keying the bones after the action in the choreography makes the bones stay in that position when scrubbing through the timeline in the Choreography. Thanks. Here is a render of shaggy running and then slowing down. It is a bit sloppy though. Running.mov

(hope i'm not being complicated) NEVER MIND FIXED one more thing, how do you make something completely transparent and have a reflection, like a glass window? thanks again.

I spent 3-4 hours attempting to model a face for a character of mine, and made pretty decent headway. I've got about a quarter of the way around, and things are pretty smooth. However, I attempted to put hair on it and quickly discovered that the normals, every single one, face inward, towards the center of the head, rather than outward, where hair would be desired. My question is, do I have to select all 200+ patches individually and flip them, or is there another wat that shall take much less time? I ask because, knowing my luck, it shall happen to me time and time again.

Hey all, I'm creating a comic book digitally and I need a anime girl and guy model to use a mannequin to trace out character poses, I have the web subscription so I didn't get any models with the download, if anyone knows where I can get a girl and guy anime models so I can use then a mannequin to create poses to sketch out characters then that would be really helpful ! Thanks in advance. Aldo. PS. don't worry about the rigging etc. I have a custom rig to use. PPS. no I'm not lazy - I just ain't got the time to model one up cause I'm creating all the draft pages and story plus all the research simultaneously an it's taking a long time !

There was an option in older versions of AM to set the patch color of something - this was a quick and dirty way to get a "textured" model without creating a material - I used it to get a rough idea of what things would look like. Do they still have patch materials or no? I can't find them. I thought you could just make a selection, right click, and that would be an option - at which point you would get the color picker to pick the patch color. Its been a while since I've used it, the last version I can remember it being in was v12 or v13. Maybe it was just moved.

I am trying to add an Action to a mechanical gear I made. I created the model and added a bone - starting at the very center of the gear and extending to the edge of one of the teeth. When I try to move the end of the bone 90 degrees the model starts to turn and go off-axis. How can I constrain the model so that it turns (rotates) in only one plane and direction?

I know I've been at this way too long today already but I just had something strange happen and I thought I would ask about it. I just finally got to the point where I could start animating and I'm looking through camera 1 in shaded mode. I put one of my characters in skeletel mode and start moving him. As his body departs from where he was another body, identicle to his, appears where he left from. Huh? At first I thought I had put two instances of the same character in the choreography but no matter how I try I cannot select the second instance of my character. What's more, it disappears when I run the animation. Anyone know what this is. Seems lik…

Hi to all from Italy. I hope someone can help me. I often model half a face and then I Copy/Flip/Attach. If the point of the central spline are not exactly in 0 (in X axis when I am in the front view) Copy/flip/attach sometimes doesn't work. So my question is: how can I have all the points of a selected splines at exactly 0 in x axis? I discovered that if all the points are in, for istance, 1cm and I select the spline and write 0 all the points move to 0. But if the points are not all in the same position in x axis (1 point at 1,01cm, 1 point at 1,04 etc...) it doesnt work. Another question: I need to export my models in polygons to work in other softwares. I…

Hello all, I have just got up and running (unlike my animations) with AM 13, which is my first outing of any sort with 3D software. Im a Graphic Designer by trade and have always drawn things in my spare time, and im hoping start to bring a few things to life. Just thought Id mention to anyone about to buy or upgrade to V13 that on a Mac you will require an OS of 10.4.6 not 10.3.9 as stated on web and packaging, this caught me out on arrival of software. No probs though all up and working. Ive got to now concentrate and focus on getting the tutorials done before I can really start to play. Thanks to a trick I learned in these forums some time ago, I'm implementing some motion with a chain of bones, of which the end bone has a kinematic constraint to a null, and the null has a translate-constraint to another object. (Imagine, for example, an octopus leg hanging on to an object moving in a perfect circle. This method realistically is the only way to do it.) Anyway, so far I've not had any problems with this until today. I have a null that successfully translate-constrains to several objects. Then I constrained the null to a bone of an object (not the model bone). I tested the motion and it looked good. Then I positioned to a frame prior to enfo…
