I think I've found an anomaly in the way cookie cut maps with alpha channels (which is the only way I use them) render specular highlights. My test map is shown below, an out of focus ellipse. I applied this as a color decal to a blue, four patch plane as a TGA file with an alpha map based on luminance so it should appear as a fuzzy white oval. The blue plane had a white specular color with size and intensity equal to 33%. I think it's time for me to get into the new version mode (still using v.11 or something). I wish you guys still supported the Hasp dongles, they were great. I have some questions before paying which aren't obvious on the store site. If I get the subscription version ($79), will it expire one year from the date of purchase/activation? At that point will it cease to work on my computer until I pay for a new subscription? If my computer crashes is it a simple process to regain access to my purchased version via re-install/online re-register (same day, even on weekends)? I'm more used to the old model of buying the CD and using it until I absolutely have to h…

Have been trying to revamp the model so I could finish the animation. Not sure if its complete yet ( he looks too old ? ) but, saved the iteration and fully installed the 2008 rig, as per the instructions, then tested it with the previous animation, with the following painfull result. This is what it looked like before And these are the same frames but with the new model Can anyone kindly suggest where I should look for the fault ? Thank you for your help. Here's a bit of weirdness on a project resurrected from A:M v7 This project had a path for a camera to travel on but in v18 it had a slightly different shape that was noticeable by the the different camera motion in a final render vs. the v7 render I still have. Upon investigating, i find that the CPs of the path have a couple dozen superfluous sets of bias properties in them. Deleting all of them restored the Path to its proper shape, which is good since i didn't want to send in a bug report about a v7 project.

I have three models overlapping and I want to select only the CPs of one of them so I can scale it. So basically, how do I select all the CPs in a particular object? I know noob question, and I've searched the forum but it only gives me threads with hitting Cntrol+A to select all the CPs in the scene. Thanks

I can't say how long these options have been around but I noticed that Netrender has two checkboxes. Enable OpenMP for slaves Enable GPU processing for slaves Currently my CPU has four physical cores so I typically run three of them in Netrender and leave the fourth to run A:M. What would enabling OpenMP bring to the party? Windows 11's Trusted Platform Module spec. is giving me an excuse to replace my 11 year old hardware. What GPU specs. should I shop for to take advantage of GPU processing? Thanks.

So v17b, is there a problem with the EXR.iio plugin? I get a warning on launching A:M that it won't load. If, as I have, I swap the plugin for the one from v17a it launches perfectly.

I'm trying to submit a bug report to Hash Reports but the max. attached file limit is 26,214k. I'm making v17e choke during a single frame render with a combination of models, materials and decals that generates a zip file just under 115,000k. I can't reduce the data set because then A:M doesn't hang. Any alternatives for uploading this much data?

Hi everyone! Just re-purchased and can't find my serial keys, have clicked the right links, written 3 or 4 times, haven't heard a word in reply and for the first time in 20 years I can't get anyone on the phone (I'm told it's not in service). Have been working on a model of a young boy for the next project. Learnt some lessons last time so was cautious this time around, saved regularly in different iterations as progress was made. Installed the 2008 rig up to the point were it said, " set up cp weights and smartskin", so have spent the past few days trying to get that ready for next phase of the rig installation. Had been working on half a model then intended to copy flip attach before going on to finish the rig installation. However, every time I try to CFA it crashes out the program. Question for Rob: While improving the lighting today [at Live Answer Time] for Johns picture, we adjusted a bunch of global ambiance parameters. It seems that the Global Ambiance parameters can be adjusted from various places-, Camera or Choreography or Rendering all have inputs. What is the correct sequence of adjusting the Global Ambiance settings? Which Setting is the most important ....and then do you work your way "down the tree" to make further adjustments? Hi, First I'm on AM V14c which probably won't matter in this case as this will probably be a memory exercise anyway. I've rigged characters in AM 14c using TSM2 before just fine but this time I got an error when I did the rigger. I did the builder, the flipper but when I did the rigger it said "No System Found"??!!?? Anyone?? Retopology is good with the possibility of a bake of texture. This allow to use sculpted objects in AM to create characters and textures. Of course unwrap would be great too. It is clear that it is not easy to work with software like zbrush and 3dcoat when using AM. Because there is no possibility to bake a texture from a props. Xnormal is a software to do this but it's not AM. With the same option we can do all we want in AM. Stop with export and bad UV. That doesn't work. Just retopo and bake

Hello Hashers- I had an idea of leaves being emitted as sprites and I wanted those leaves to swirl in a curlicue past the camera. I created a curlicue model as a guide for the sprites to follow and made it 80% transparent so I could see if it was working, and if it did work, I would make the guide 100% transparent for the final render. I made the sprites react to collisions and thought I set everything properly. I even had an animated force fanning the sprites inside the tunnel. The force moved one leaf but the others stayed behind. Unfortunately all the leaves glommed up at the beginning of the "wind tunnel guide" as you can see from the video. I won…

Hi there, i know, there is a obj exporter included in AM. But i think, that when i recall it right the obj-exporter by A. Walasek archived better results. Its a long time ago, and i may recall that not right. However, does anybody know how to get the old Walasek exporter to work? Is it a 64bit problem again? Regards Heiner

I would like to use the Vector Interpolation driver on bones in an action file. I used to be able to select it in the option menu and set it for the project be default, but now everything is defaulting to quaternion. Even an older project is defaulting to quat. I change it in the options to vector and it just keeps reverting to quaternion. I don't want the rotate.w channel for this project, just xyz absolute values. How do I fix this? Thanks all, Charles

Today I find myself in a real mess. I renewed my subscription because my old has one day left. And I get this error everytime I try to render my project in any file format. Now even my previous versions are giving the same error message. So I'm treading water here with no rendering capability. Please tell me that the rendering ability in A:M is not screwed up now.

Hello. Me again. Was looking through the wiki area for the Tinman movie and was a bit bummed out to find that many of the links which seem like they should link to background info about them, instead just drop me off in the forums. Is this information stored elsewhere, or has it been lost or orphaned over time? Simple question. Is the Community Tab in A:M still used? I've created a login for it, but it never works. Says I login doesn't exist, even though I just created it. While rummaging through an old miscellaneous folder I found a plug-in from 2005 that, if I remember correctly, simultaneously changes the crossing bias at all cp's around a circular spline. It could be a nice time saver. I tried dropping it into my HXT folder but it didn't show up as a plug-in or wizard. Is there some way to "re-compile" it for v19p? Bottleneck.hxt

Trying to finish off the Learning curve, using V18g in OSX 10.85. Made some modifications to one of the models, saved it as an iteration. Looked ok visually so tried to test it it as a render using the action window previously worked in. When I tried to do a quick render, the process seemed to stall, with the message appearing, "calculating the visible patches". That went on for some minutes and eventually aborted that render. Tried again, the render crashed the program. Opened up again, same project, same settings, same problem with calculating the visible patches. I was curious about how A:M shifted the camera for the Multipass DOF effect. This is the image of a very bright, very tiny dot far behind the DOF range of the camera with various pass number settings. I would think that cluster near the center of the higher pass versions would not be ideal. The low number passes seem to be the same every time, but the higher ones change a bit with every restart of A:M

I wonder if there is a command in A:M that lets you insert a spline ring in a model? I mean a complete spline ring above or below a given existing ring. NOT point by point, NOT an extrusion...but kind of something inbetween: select a spline ring, then select this command I am looking for, and presto: a new spline ring is inserted. I have search both forum and tech ref in vaine...but maybee it exists as an undocumented shortcut?

We were talking about overlapping motion in DavidDenzill's recent thread. This PRJ lets you experiment with overlapping motion and quickly see the result. HeadBanger03.prj open the PRJ open Action2 and look at it from a side view. I have keyframed the two extremes of a head-banging motion on Rabbit... up-down-up-down-up-down... play it! It's motion but it's stiff! Next, grab the keyframes for Head and Neck and slide them a couple frames later. Hi all im back again, this time to stay.lolllll i was longhauling all over north america (truck driver) and now have a home and a place to relax.i have aquired an illness which forces me to be home and so i bought the full cd version of am. ok my question is, is that it just arrived today but am reluctant to install it. the reason is because at home i have a state of the art computer that i bought specificly for animation master and adobe after effects and such. now i have to go back into the hospital for several months and i want to install am on my laptop while im in the hospital, but when i come out i want it on my main computer, can this be done or no. any help in …

I've very lax in loading the latest versions and have been using 19.0e since it came out. I just installed 19.0j and upon starting AM got the error message: "Unable to load plugin" (followed by a sequential list of all the .atx and .trb files I bought from EnhanceAM) "The specified procedure could not be found". I made sure this version was looking in the correct folder. I loaded v19.0i and got the same result. I don't have ver.g or ver.h but ver.f had no problem loading them. Do I need to supply a sample EAM .atx and .trb file to determine what broke?
