I know there is a text/type tool in AM but, could someone kindly point me to it ? Also, In the past when I installed AM the help file was installed too. It seems to do so on PC's but hasn't on the Mac. Could somebody tell me howto do it so I can stop asking simplistic questions ? Thank You regards Simon OSX 10.68 V15J

Hi all I've recently revisited the transformers model of mine, and at the same time been testing some motion tracking. It was a pain in the bu** to make that thing move, since the rig I made for him is really bad:p Let me know what you think Best regards Stian The animation: transformers.mov A single frame from the animation:

Hi! I'm an old user and I'm considering to come back to the amazing world of A:M. I come from v11 and I would like to know which version is the latest and what are the main differences between them. Also... I prefer the boxed one and not the subscription. Are both the same? Thanks in advance and regards.

Robcat has offered me a chance to do some learning. He has three courses to teach. I would very much like to have others join in on this class and if your interested please post here to become involved. Once we have enough I will defer control to Robcat who will be doing the teaching. The animation courses being offered are the following: 1 bouncing ball 2 broad jump 3 three emotions On a side note, Rob if no one is interested I am still very interested in learning what you have to offer.

https://vimeo.com/127739839 Hey folks- I am embarking on a new campaign for my 'Belle Tire' client and it occured to me that I never 'showed off' my big 2014 campaign. Here it is... 6 :30 TV spots for Belle Tire(9th largest Tire reseller in the country, after Discount Tire #1 and CostCo #2) All animation and renders done in A:M. Motion tracking and composite, color correction and edit done with Adobe CC products.

As the light bounces off the walls it takes on the wall's color. OmniTestEH.mov A typical Cornell box image takes about an hour to render with radiosity, but this takes about 15 seconds per frame to render. This scene also has something in it that technically doesn't exist in A:M. Can anyone guess what it is? There are clues in the render.

As if I hadn’t enough going, I’ve begun a new project, “Give it up!”. This is a very very short story (a couple of minutes) made from yet another piece by Franz Kafka. Staging and head modeling is done 100% in A:M, but the bodies of the characters, their UV-mapping etc. as well as the rendering as seen here, are done in Zbrush. They’ll later be imported into A:M and rigged, animated and rendered there.

Hi Due to lack of reference images I had to take a break from the cathedral. Poor Thomas looked so lonely, so I decided to make him a friend By the way. In near future I plan on making more of his friends, so if anyone know of any great resource pages for these trains such as blueprints or reference images, please let me know. Turntable: Still:

I noticed a couple big set backs using decals for camera projection mapping besides the spastic positioning of the decal which is easy enough to use the numeric inputs... Low angled patches don't receive decals. Decals only apply to what is visible in the scene so your limited to just what is initially in the scene. Is there another way to do this besides decals?

Hi friends... I am editor of a live talk-show ( livevideo all mondays 7:30pm brazil ), which deals exclusively about my soccers's team Operário Futebol Clube ( In fact the team is not mine of course). Its mascot is a rooster.. then I decided to model one to use in some animations between interviews. tomorrow I'll begin to SQUETCH it....

Hi! I'm still working with the music but it won't change much. I'm still working on the brief voice but this won't change much. There are a few quirks to correct but this is the form for the finished product. I want you to compare it with anything Hollywood and professional studios put out and, if possible, tell me where I fall short. Please, tear it to pieces! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yXteHySTok...eature=youtu.be Enjoy! Rusty

Hi freaks! After a pretty long abscence from Animation Master, we finally did a project again with a whole lot of A:M usage involved. It's a (web-) commercial for a company called "Lieferheld" (which some of you might know as "Delivery Hero"). All characters have been modelled, rigged, shaded, animated and rendered with A:M, backgrounds have been created with softimage and Modo. We kindly invite you to have a look at it: Lots of greetings, Elm.

hey guys, haven´t been here for a while, and of course i have a question: i´m trying to find a way to simulate a stop-motion look without having to animate frame by frame. so i thought a possible solution would be to add some sort of random expression to the bones rotation, so that they would rotate randomly with very low values (let´s say from 0,1° to 0,3° or so) each frame. i´m not very familiar with expressions in a:m, in after effects the wiggle expression is fairly simple and can be applied to almost every parameter. i hope it´s similar in a:m. any advice?

Hi all! Happy new year! I've the last couple of weeks been playing with the beechcraft and a video footage from where I grew up as a child (I did the footage this Christmas with my cellphone). There is several things I would like to do different. Due to the footage I cant have the speed I want on the plane, and the landing is a little to short. Anyway, let me know what you think. Also, I don't like the smoke on the end, but I'm not sure how to make it better. Oh, and there is probably some scale issues too? I struggled to make the ground a lot more dirty, but this was the best I managed to do. Syntheyes is used for tracking. I might do some more work on it, but not right …

Hi Guys I felt like taking a small brake from the Cathedral project, so last night I started on another project I've wanted to do for a long time. Thomas the Tank Engine Anyway, almost done with the model, just some minor details missing and some tweaking on his face left to do (to get rid of his "crazy" look). Let me know what you think so far. I might have bigger plans for this guy, not sure when I'm able to realize them though. I'll upload a better render of him tomorrow Best regards Stian *edit* image updated

Bouncing ball is the atom on which character animation is built. Would there be interest in such a class? It would be about 4 or 5 lessons, each one focusing on some small element and building on the previous ones. Unlike a series of tutorials that are just out there, it would be an online class where everyone is doing the same exercise at the same time. Hopefully being able to do a proper bouncing ball will enable you to more critically assess your other animation efforts and avoid elementary problems.

Lately, I've been seeing some posts on here and on other forums showing vintage CG stuff, it got me looking through some of my old projects, reminiscing about my first experiences with 3D and starting my career in 3D graphics. I figured maybe this is a good space to share some old works that I never posted on the forum before maybe some of you will recognize some of the stuff. I got into 3D in the early to mid-'90s in high school and college. I didn't quite understand how 3D graphics were made in high school and used programs like DeluxePaint Animation to try and create my own. I even did a few projects for teachers, animating the high school logo. The…

I modeled a head to help in the Douglas' project then he ask me how I did it... I restarted the process but this time I recorded it. It took me 22 minutes then I decided to increase the video speed. The modeling is a dinamic system thus this model isn't the same as the first, there is some diferences in the splines but the result is the same. I hope you enjoy it. if you have some question, please be my guest to comment. U5w19qocMEQ (720p)

This uses the Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinnect. http://davidleonardtv.wordpress.com/2011/0...rial-with-code/ Any ambitious programmers with some free time could make a plug-in for the new AM that has retopo tools. Be pretty convenient to scan in an object into the model window. Maybe even capture the surface colors for reference bitmap as well.

This months prompt: Make a book jacket (cover) that will be used for a volume of Edgar Allan Poe Stories. So I started with rendering from A:M an image or 2 of the crow model (from Scarecrow of Oz) - and then I proceeded to work up a variety of concepts (in photoshop) - the last image is probably what I will go with. But I might try doing at least one more concept - different altogether, more childlike, and probably including a cat.

Hello- I apologize if this has been answered before but I did a search for "3d printing" and ".STL" in the AM forums search and it came up blank...so here goes: When exporting an .STL file with AM17, does the mesh need to be continuous to be recognized by the printer?...or can there be multiple models intersecting each other, without there being one unified mesh? (see picture)... In this simplistic picture there is a sphere (figure A) with some of the points pulled out..and then there is a sphere (figure with a cylinder intersecting. Are both of these models "legal" to the 3D printer? Will both models "print out" accurately? Thanks for any insigh…

Inspired by Simon's quest for a teddy bear fur texture, I decided to make some bear type creatures of my own. I started with the "Panda on Fire" model from the Hash 2001 CD, mainly because it had a terrific simple body shape, and simple claw/fingers: originally done by Josh Riley, modified by Cabbot Sanders according to the File Info. I changed the eyes, ears, nose, added mouth, eyelids, re-rigged it with TSM2, added Face controls, decaled it to use displacement as the fur texture, added dynamic hair on top, and assorted accessories. Obviously, Panda Monium is a close cousin of the Big Nose Bear species. And because, I stole some DNA, I felt it only right…

I finally finished my Flash Gordon Fan Film. It's certainly not perfect, but if you've ever worked on a long, paced, and staged projects from idea to screen, you know how long and how much work it takes. I'm happy to have it done whatever the case. I did notice that the vimeo conversion makes it glitchy in places. But I can't complain. Hope you guys enjoy watching it. Anyone having issues with rendering out images from within A:M 16 or 17beta 2? No matter what I am trying, it crashes 80% of the time. I have tried different settings, different models, different projects. I have tried png, exr, avi (of which I get a v16 error in v17??) so I have no other idea what it could be. And to top it all off, I was rendering several images just over the weekend and no problems. I have not installed any software between then and now. I have rebooted several times, ended unneeded tasks, etc. I'm at a loss. Just wondering if any known issues. Thanks in advance.

For Red Squad one of the things I have to do is "trash" some of the bridges. By that I mean I gotta do battle damage. So one of those things that comes with Star Trek bridge battle damage, are things like hanging electrical cables, hoses and stuff like that. Now my first instinct obviously would be to just model it, however, that'll be kind of stiff and in scenes where things explode, these cables and hoses and stuff will probably need to swing and things like that. So I kind of got to thinking about some of Robert's rope tests and stuff like that. What do you guys think is the best approach for this sort of thing?

You guys may have seen my recent post of the fan art model I did. I wanted to test out sculptris with Hash and how well the obj export from it would work in Hash's "Retopo/ snap to surface feature." Since I'm new to sculptris and 3D sculpting in general I was hoping to get the basic shape of Dirk the Daring's head fairly close. I knew that the spline modeling in A:M would work much lighter and smoother. However, I like the way sculptris allows me to get the overall shape. Attached is a video of the progression both in sculptris and then on into hash for conversion to a spline copy based on the obj. The body was all done in Hash. Model_Steps_Sculp…

Hi Everyone, I was wondering how the DVD version of A:M worked as I'm thinking of buying a few copies for the game studio. I realize the web subscription one is only good for a year and then it's gone. I was wondering if someone was able to put the exact differences here so I can make a choice as to what way I'm going to go. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a feature comparison on the site anywhere... Thank you everyone.

Oh, to fly as an eagle, among the clouds... From the Royal Council of Matt-Cambell-Said-It-Couldn't-Be-Done: CloudsFlythruB.mp4 These are sprite particle clouds. There is a tiny bit of a "popping" problem that can probably be solved with some R&D. (john's suggestion to turn off the sprite emitter fixes most of it) I think the potential for effective cloudscapes in A:M is there.

Okay, here's a silly quesiton... Let's say I have an animated sequence with keyframes in various locations spread throughout the sequence. In other words... it's a real mess. Is there a way to force a keyframe for every bone that has a keyframe assigned to it on every frame of the animation? My thought is that while I want to reduce the number of keyframes I don't want to risk altering the current animation to any great extent. Keying every frame would allow going back in and deleting keyframes while knowing that other keys are still in place. This is an approach I've found to work really well with simulation (such as Simcloth which places a keyfram…

A little show-n-tell... Last month, I got a chance to put A:M to a big test... needed to make a field of falling tangerines that would wipe the screen, and some various cloth effects at an obtusely hi-resolution... 12,000 px wide by 1280 tall. I used Newton Dynamics for the tangerines but they are simply shaped. My 1 minute opening video(Rife with Hash animations) showed before an audience of 5,000 at the US Foods convention in Orlando, I was lucky enough to attend as last minute changes happened.
