[attachmentid=17093] This looks plain because of no textures. But you should get the idea? At least 95% finished. Also another to ADD towards the Extras DVD if desired. By the way..... Rodney..... I have these 3 newer models: G_Loader Gun/Corridor and this Fence Enclosure. Should I send them for the Extras DVD? Heres an Update. May not seem like much, but the single piece that goes to the Right Angle is detachable to expand the enclosure to any number in length. I also varied the Fence Rails height for more interest. Yves Poissant's Primitives page has this to say about the Squared Wy: "Note that this primitive is not completed. There is a 6 point patch in the center and I did not find an elegant and satisfactory way to close it. If anybody finds an elegant solution, I would be glad to hear about it." Here's my offering as to a possible solution. Anyone else have a good one? I think the underlying problem with this shape is that there is not elegant way to do it in the real world. Take a lump of clay and try it, you'll see what I mean. My method is far from elegant, but it works. Then again, does anyone even use any of the primitives besides the cube? -Zev Squared_Wy.mdl

I thought about this when I posted my first tutorial on johnl3d.blogspot.com I used a pose without explaining how... so I guess that should be my next tutorial. I find creating a pose to do an effect very useful . In this example to show what I mean I have a rough egg shape change color then disappear..go transparent.. I set this up with two simple poses..which are set up in the action window where you set up a new pose. I could have made an action but that would require more work and more setup in the end. Here I imported the same model into the chor and scaled it so each fit inside the other then simply move the pose over time for each one ...pose 1 to change the …

Hello all. It's amazing what great things happen on #hash3d, not only interesting conversations, great guffaws and of course now the monthly lectures But for me a couple weeks ago the idea for a "new" story came out of IRC. I don't want to give much a way but the 2 main characters are loosely based on 2 of our well known A:M ers. It will be an action adventure type story if all goes well. Hopefully through diligence on my part my skills will match up to my imagination and I can do the story justice.

Hello, Here's link to the still image of the chain link gate and dumpsters I modeled for the animation: Gate and Fence jpg 001 Please let me know what you think. There's a model of the victim involved in the animation but I'm having trouble with the basics of layered animation with actions, walk cycles, etc. Something I'll have to practice with training videos and tutorials first. Get used to it, THEN do that in the project for a client, not while working on said project.

I've modeled this small RC plane for my day job and I'm getting a weird dark or shadowed patch that I can't account for, which I've circled in red on this jpeg. I'm also attaching the prj file. If anyone can look at this quickly and see what might be causing it, I can't figure it out nohow! 924290.04_Hor_airplane.zip

Ok, I'm trying to setup my choreography using a smaller mini-sub that I built. As you will see in the "mini-sized" movie clip the sub comes towards the camera from a distance passing over head, the problem is after the sub passes by- the two lights from the front of the sub re-appear and look like they're moving away from the camera. I though originally that the lights in the sub model had corrupted themselves somehow and so I made a new model using just a light this time. In the Project file I'll post shortly; although the light is behind the camera if you look through the camera it appears that the light is in front of the camera. Is this some sort of funky mirror…

I was working on an opening slide for a presentation, and tried using particles and the water material. Started out OK but later frames in the render had a strange flickering effect. This was rendered on a farm. There is no pattern to the flicker related to a specific machine in the farm. David dustglasssmall3.m1v

I have created a path in the chor and have tied a character to the path and then applied an walk action to the character. I have set the time of the action/walk. The time only goes 3/4 of the path. I have render the chor. My question is this, why does the character continue to move on the path with out the action the last 1/4? What I want is to apply another movement before the character moves on the path later in the chor. Steve

I use AM as a general 3d workhorse, so I though I'd show a couple of simple and very quick projects. I thought I'd put them into a single WIP thread so that people can ask any questions they may have, and because I don't think they'll be worth a thread each. Amway Business Centres.. total project time was 1 and a half days, although it wound up at two days when I needed to alter one of the render settings and had to redo a render. That's for the sequence shown and a global map animation showing the centre locations. The project is based around the final image of a man climbing a building, the rest of it was pretty much up to me. I started the project using newton p…

" I'm really glad that most of the songs dealt with peace and understanding. There's hardly any one of them that says: 'Go on kids, tell them to sod off, leave your parents.' It's all very 'All you need is love'. There was a good spirit behind it all, which I'm very proud of. Anyway it were a grand thing, The Beatles" Paul McCartney To me it seems that those times are gone! Now people - even leaders use the sign of the devil. And some people are proud of that they are devils - act like devils. They are believing they understand their own best. I regret them. As I was programming the new A:M Action export function for Zign Track, I needed to do a good test myself. I choose a song from one of the best Dutch bands and play backed it. OK, it turned out I'm not very good at this because I forgot my lines a few times, for the rest it was pretty good. I exported the Action with only poses for the facial expressions. I have used Squetchy Sam for this example. I added a some poses to Sam so it matched the poses in Zign Track and applied the action. I needed one little tweak on the lower lip so the mouth closed better, that is because of the neutral frame I selected in the video. Besides that I haven't done any tweaking at all, and i…

Here's a technique for quickly laying a surface texture over an irregular object without first needing to decal it. The various projection map types work well for regular-shaped objects like sphere's, planes and cylinders. For irregular rounded shapes a projection mapping type which is based on the surface normal is often a better solution. AM doesn't currently have this option but for stills you can use the environment map to project a texture. Just add an environment map material and select an image. A spherical projection is ideal because it avoids pinching at the poles, but even simple photographic textures work well. On larger flat areas the texture will stre…

Hi gang - Attached is my logo and the start of a little 'signature' that I'll be showing at the beginning of my film(s). I have a short short animation planned for it that I'll be working on and posting here. I'm going for a very shiny floor but so far its not working out. Also I'm getting some major banding on the floor. Is this a lighting issue? Doug

Hi This is one of the first projects I did in 2000 with animation master. I am trying to get a reel together for my website and thought it would make a good intro. I did a new render of it with ao. You can see here the improvement in me and a:m over the years. I atached the old and new one. 3dfroglogoold.mov 3dfroglogonew.mov

OK, I am just getting into the game with AO. I have been frustrated with it so far but see potential. Others can create a wonderful look of daylight with it. Here is a shot with basic settings. How do you get a better light for the front? I know someone told me to increase the ambiance of the object but that did not work. Steve

Here is a screenshot of the place in the Property panel where you can swap your model in the chor for another model. At the very lease, both models must have the same bones and bone naming convention. If the first model uses an animation rig, the replacement should have the same rig installed.[attachmentid=12459]

Hi all! Here is a clip of Shaggy riding a tandem bicycle that I modeled. (it still needs chain rings and a chain, but I couldn't wait). The tandem is rigged such that when you translate it, it automatically spins the wheels and pedals. Learned how to use expressions on this one. A cool feature. Enjoy, Scott Shaggy_Rides.mov

If I wanted to make a sphere about 6 feet in diameter and wanted it to radiate a light or glow for several feet in all directions (like a giant lightbulb with volumetrics turned on) how would I do it? I want the falloff to be further out than "glow" can provide. Any ideas? In the pic, you'll notice that the light projection is coming from slightly in front of the dome (klieg) I want the light projection to come from all around the dome.
