I'm doing this thing for something at school, a small landscape with a house. All I'm missing are roof tiles... I've tried searching the web and creating some myself, but what I make suck and the images I find are useless... 'elp please? PS. They kinda need to be black.

I just rendered my mini movie that is due tonight and keep getting seemingly random black renders on one character. There are about 5 bad renders in a 960 frame movie. Attached is a picture of one part of a rendered frame and the setting for that frame. I change them, but they change back to nan% when I render. Is there a way to change all of the settings at once for a particular property? I'm on a Mac, running 11.1 (latest version). [attachmentid=14915] [attachmentid=14916]

I have a rather complex landscape with a road and want the middlespline of the road become a path for my car. So now when I create a new path constraint I am not able to pick this specific spline as a path . I know, that it is possible, because I have achieved it before, but lost the constraint, when I switched my car model. So my question is: Is there a special trick or workaround to make that spline pickable again or make it selectable in the pull downmenue?

I think someone should do an animation of Gir *from invader zim* basically going from good mode, to bad mode *where his eyes get mad and they turn red* If done well, it could look awesome.

You heard it right..it'll be a long time before it's done, because of school and stuff, but this is the thread that'll be used throughout the creation of the film...I'm also doing some animation excersises to get used to non-linear animation..I'm not going to rush into this. Without further ado, I give you the first clip, a two second snipped of the guy looking around. The reason why I made this is I'm focusing on small details right now. Please type up some critiques testlookaround.mov

I've been bending these splines forever. It started out as a project to learn AM. The modeling is essentially finished unless someone notices a glaring flaw. The head and body were modeled and decaled separtely. I wonder if the proportions and the decaling aren't matched? I'm not finished texturing and the hair is still preliminary.

I have started rendering our animations. The first picture is from intro chor and the second is from part two. The animation was broken into 5 parts for animating and rendering. The settings are the same in each chor and this was rendered on one machine and then on net render. Notice the inside part of tool box that there is a shadow? has anyone run into this? The first picture was the first chor and the second picture is the from the second chor. All the other chor are rendering with the black shadow on both a stand alone machine or one in the net render farm. Any thoughts????? Steve Edit I thought it was because, for what ever reason, the normals …

For instance: If I name a circle as pathA, a bowl (rivit) object as object to extrude onto pathA, can I control the orientation of the bowl/rivit object? I want the flat ends of the copied bowls/rivits to lie on the same plane as the pathA circle. See pic. Hope this description makes sense. Also, is there an exact way to orient the view perpendicular to a plane that is not aligned to the x/y/z planes? I've been doing it by trial and error, but I need more precision.

In response to Bruce's deranged but welcome request for celebrating Halloween in this thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&sh...ndpost&p=141506 & as I can definitely never resist a chance to embarass myself - I now present 2 clips - Both OLD (halloween 2000, hamming it up with a new netcam) - definitely BAD - and unfortunately complete (what's to improve?, some things are best left raw, and highly compressed). The first clip "I see Dead Piggies" was just soooooo wonderful it just begged to be used in the making of the second "Space CowGhoul". Hi all I have received so many helpful tips and things from you guys. now I think its time for me to give something back. its a model of a strutt I made with sweeper for the stage of my virtual band, here's a pic [attachmentid=19699] and heres the model, I havn't textured it, I just set the color to light grey, you can change it any way you like. If you copy it and flip it in the X axis then the ends match up, you can build quite a nice structure out of it. Hope you like it. [attachmentid=19700] Leo Framework.zip

I'm trying to set up a mast light with 3 different colored lights. I want to be able to turn the glow on for the desired color, red, amber and green. Not all at once. Any thoughts? Attached is an image. P.S. Mast lights are used in industrial equipment to indicate status. Red means fault. Amber means alert. Green means................ Everythings OK (you thought I was going to say go, didn't you). Thanks in advance for your help d

Just was wondering what some of your opinions were when it comes to the industry. I've seen two types of Demo reels. The type where there's a title card, the full project plays through and then repeats through other projects til done. Or a montage of clips with a music lay over of random projects segments. Which do you think is more professional? I see advantages for both. The P to P shows that you can be cohesive, that you can tell a full story visually while the montage can highlight your "money shots" and can show more of your work in the standard 3-4 min time span. I don't know. What do you guys think?

Here's the project. Open your pose slider window and click on the main camera model to bring up the positioning sliders. To use the camera control options you need to turn off the null targeting. Any questions on how to use it just ask.

'lo, Been quite some time since I posted any work at all, mostly because my lack of webspace and ability to host. Luckely, one of my friends offered me help with both hosting of my web-page and my files. I created this intro for another friend of mine(I got like many, almost 4 ) for about 6 months ago and it's the only thing I've uploaded so far, but at least it's something, right? Info and link: http://jstudios.lutrafobic.com/index.php?side=ani PS! Contains nudity. PS PS! I can't find the project, so although I'd love to re-do it, I can't unless I'd make the entire scene again. Critique is still very much apriciated, though.

I'm working with a small team on a short animation where a character walks through a room filled with obscure objects floating in large test tubes. Based on previous still image work, I immediately thought of using image maps to speed up the production process (since modeling dozens of obscure wispy objects would eat up a lot of time). What I ended up doing was creating two perpendicular planes and mapping them with front and side views of the same object. All looks reasonably well when both planes are about 45 degrees rotated from the camera view but when one of them rotates parallel to the camera direction it creates an obnoxious dark line in the middle of the object. S…

Very old Greek pottery in the late 7th and 6th centuries B.C.E practiced something called "black figure", where they painted imagery with black glaze or "slip" on the red clay. A couple centuries later they reversed that to do "red figure" where they used the black to cover the negative space around the image they were making. After seeing examples of this work at a museum I wanted to try to recreate some of that look, including the numerous fractures they tended to have after being buried in a dump for 2000+ years. Thom is a cylinder wrapped decal. The break lines are a combiner material.

I don't post much of my work, mostly because I'm not very productive, but here is a character I am working on. He will be chased by another character in a 10 second video I want to put in front of my DVD of my daughter's middle school production of "Guys and Dolls". This guy represents the gamblers (I'm assuming that is obvious). I welcome all comments and criticisms. I have rigged him and teested him with a couple of actions and he looks OK. Thanks in advance, Scott Dice_Front0.tga
