I just rendered my mini movie that is due tonight and keep getting seemingly random black renders on one character. There are about 5 bad renders in a 960 frame movie. Attached is a picture of one part of a rendered frame and the setting for that frame. I change them, but they change back to nan% when I render. Is there a way to change all of the settings at once for a particular property? I'm on a Mac, running 11.1 (latest version). [attachmentid=14915] [attachmentid=14916]

Hello Everyone, I've been working on a model of a small boy as you can see Here And I came up with a little story to put with him. I hope you like it. Crits are very welcome. Sequence 1 A middle aged man, slightly balding incessantly snores in his lazy boy recliner. In the corner a TV flashes illuminating the entire room. Then from behind the dad, a young sly boy cracks open the door just enough to show his face. A smirk appears on the boy's face when he sees that his dad is fast asleep. The boy slowly creeps along then pauses at his dad's recliner. He hesitantly taps his dad on the shoulder, and to his surprise the man makes an abrupt snore cau…

Got this idea after watch a commecial where bubbles with people fall then the people continue doing something. Thought it might be cool to have a ball or frisbee shape sail through the air and morph into something else with color and shape changes. So I volunteered Thom and did a very rough test will have to play with it a bit more as time allows wrong clip posted thought I had stopped it but I guess not. sorry for any confusion

Here's a WIP I have of an Industrial Fork Lift. The steering wheel turns the rear wheels, the mast tilts and the forks go up & down. I've got a LOT of work to do massaging the body to get the realism where I'd like it to be. Decaling would help a ton here as well. Technically the mast is telescoping (second and 3rd sections that extend as the forks move beyond the vertical limit of the lower mast section.... whew), but I haven't added those portions yet. I would also like to make the forks spread apart and come together (Real fork lifts have a shift function, to move the forks in tandem, left or right). If anyone is interested I can post the mod…

I'm trying to make an opera scene, and all is going well, but, I don't know how to go about making good curtains that can open and close like real ones would on a stage. Does anyone know how I could go about doing this? Thanks! -Robert Lazzarini

Hey gang. I am working on an animation for a scholarship coming in August. I am using a simple character I built just for this event. This is my first model so tell me what you think of the look of Mr. Lego and the movement he has. Mr. Lego takes a leap.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLdvxeGHOXA Hey! I just used A:M's SimCloth feature again in another TV spot and it didn't let me down. I needed to show a Christmas present UNwrapping, so first I did the bow unwrap in an action using muscle-mode animation to sort of 'undraw' itself. Once it was gone the ribbons wrapping around the present were free to fall- and SimCloth did the trick with very little futzing. All this to sell furniture... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLdvxeGHOXA

So... I made this dragon right, but I have absolutely no idea how to go about rigging it. I would get The Setup Machine, but its a tad bit expensive. I'm posting a picture of the whole thing shaded and wireframe. If it helps I can post more pics of close-ups of certain areas. (i.e. the legs, neck, tail, wings, etc.) Any ideas would be great. Thanks

I'm working with a small team on a short animation where a character walks through a room filled with obscure objects floating in large test tubes. Based on previous still image work, I immediately thought of using image maps to speed up the production process (since modeling dozens of obscure wispy objects would eat up a lot of time). What I ended up doing was creating two perpendicular planes and mapping them with front and side views of the same object. All looks reasonably well when both planes are about 45 degrees rotated from the camera view but when one of them rotates parallel to the camera direction it creates an obnoxious dark line in the middle of the object. S…

Just was wondering what some of your opinions were when it comes to the industry. I've seen two types of Demo reels. The type where there's a title card, the full project plays through and then repeats through other projects til done. Or a montage of clips with a music lay over of random projects segments. Which do you think is more professional? I see advantages for both. The P to P shows that you can be cohesive, that you can tell a full story visually while the montage can highlight your "money shots" and can show more of your work in the standard 3-4 min time span. I don't know. What do you guys think?

Just an experiment ... but OK, I made a Dome model, and applied a material to it, I even applied a decal on to it and placed it in a Cho. with the camera positioned inside of it. In the Cho., in Camera view, it seems like I have things set up all right but, when I do a render all I get is a blue color where the render should be. I also tried setting the background color in the camera properties to other colors but that does not change anything either. How can I get a rendered look of what the camera is pointing at ? Just not obvious to me. AM-14C Thanks Creating_a_Mood.prj.txt

Hello fellow Hashers. My name is Adam, (AKA LordPython), and this is my first post. A little about me: Age: 25 Location: Ga 3D History: Started learning 3DS Max, and Maya 4.5. However learning by my self from books was taking too long. I have seen A:M down at Dragon*Con every year for the past 4 years and I would always stop by their demo and watch. Every time I would think "It would really be cool to have that" but then I would move on. Well this past *Con I finally said "ah what the heck, I could really use it" and got it. That was 7 days ago, and I now happily present to all of you, my first unassisted animation. Although it's only 4 seconds long,…

For instance: If I name a circle as pathA, a bowl (rivit) object as object to extrude onto pathA, can I control the orientation of the bowl/rivit object? I want the flat ends of the copied bowls/rivits to lie on the same plane as the pathA circle. See pic. Hope this description makes sense. Also, is there an exact way to orient the view perpendicular to a plane that is not aligned to the x/y/z planes? I've been doing it by trial and error, but I need more precision.

After doing the 2001 slit-scan project (https://forums.hash.com/topic/53303-2001-slit-scan-effects-simulated-in-am-with-mufoof/) using resurrected 2001 artwork (https://youtu.be/dujQGB-2EXw), I wanted to try some other graphics. The Mandelbrot Set is a wonderful source of interesting imagery. My college roommate, Mike Segor, who also went to that 1968 showing of 2001, had sent me some Mandelbrot work. Grist for the mill. He also contributed music for the final movie. The artwork: John Knoll has a fascinating video about slit-scan techniques (and shows a graphic of the Trumbull 2001 set-up at 5:07): https://vimeo.com/391366006 He discusses var…

Only my second animation ever that wasn't a cycle of some type. Remember I'm just a novice but would love any constructive comment. Its a 1.8mb mpeg-1 file. Due to problems I had animating this model (major problems with the rig with unwanted bone rotation and oddball balance bone shifting) I won't be trying to fix the animation. I might try using the original model (circa 2000) that was working flawlessly in v9.5 next time. I would have hosted it on my own web page but I can't seem to upload anything larger than 650k so my appologies ahead of time for hosting it on tripod. The post title acurately expresses my current mood in attempting to post this animati…

You heard it right..it'll be a long time before it's done, because of school and stuff, but this is the thread that'll be used throughout the creation of the film...I'm also doing some animation excersises to get used to non-linear animation..I'm not going to rush into this. Without further ado, I give you the first clip, a two second snipped of the guy looking around. The reason why I made this is I'm focusing on small details right now. [attachmentid=17879] This is an Updated Video(7-1-06) Used a Displacement Map for this terrain. Did the camera movements, then recorded to .mov; then used the .mov file as a layer. Simply dropped in the "Cockpit" model and positioned it to the camera and re-recorded the animation. NOTE 1: I had to use .wmv because of file size. I dont know if I can get away with posting a zip- file (.avi/.mov) of 1.9mb size? If I can, itll be posted on a NEW POST. NOTE 2: It says .avi when downloading, but its actually a .wmv? Just rename it, or it should be fine as is? Semi-calculated? It is doing what I expected …

Hello AM users. I'm looking to hire 1 AM animator to start, for a temporary project that will possibly continue into a regular work project. I'm looking for someone that can do beautiful female model (to pose, walk, turn on runway), background scenery, and work from my characters. So, you AM users send your emails/resume to deyostu@deyoproduction.com and I will go into details. I do not check in here at AM forum that often. So use the email: deyostu@deyoproduction.com Thanks
