This is a model that I started a couple years back for the Siggraph cloth demos, however I didnt have enough time to get a successful project going but I kept him around because I liked the posture. Well here he is now with a full set of wings, new schnoz and tail. I will post more replies later with wireframes and progression pics. I hope you enjoy. The wing skin isn't quite attached yet. I just threw it in there so it wouldn't look so bad. The slow process of stitching it into the wings will eventually be done. [attachmentid=21341]

Hey, Been a while. Wanted to post a scene ive started workin on again. It's supposed to be a Greek/Roman style hall. The orange lights coming out of those bowl on pedestals are supposed to be torches, just no fire yet. If anyone has suggestions or comments, please feel free to leave them. Ideas for improvement would be nice too, I'm kind of stuck lol

I'm still working on my Camilla model, the modelling is all but done. Except the teeth, I've started adding constraints and smartskinning for the female character. But on the start-up of the program, some of the joints are not in the start-up pose. I can tweak them back to Zero, and then save it. But on restarting the program, they are back to their incorrect positions. This doesn't happen on all the joints, just some of them. Anybody got any ideas, why the start position isn't saving with the project... Nasty looking ankle... on every start-up... I'm working on a flying robot model for a friend's movie. I have a model that has been rendering in Shaded mode in the model window without issue. I see the colors assigned and decals applied. I was in Bones Mode and was picking points for a bone. I then exited to Modeling Mode and have lost the expected Shaded functionality. I mean, I see the object shaded, but no decals, but the render is very dark and the light for the rendered view appears to be from below. 1. Does not reproduce w/ another model that I created. 2. Appears to be localized to the actual model data! I reopend the .mdl into a new project and observed the problem. 3. Restarted AM…

Hello, Since I'm diving into movie creation, I realize there's a process involved, beginning even before any 3D work is done. Concepting, etc. This is an area where I'm a bit unsure how to start. I have stories in my head, but if I was to get them out in the scattershot way I tend to imagine them (thinking of different scenes at random, etc), no one would have any idea what's going on. It would be like Pulp Fiction edited by someone on hallucinogenics. I also have this tendency to constantly second-guess myself and doubt if I'm doing something correctly. This was the hardest model I've ever attempted. For mechanical models it's relatively easy to find front, side and top reference images, not so much for 1940's movie actresses. Every time I looked at a different 3/4 view of Ann Sheridan with dramatic lighting and did a test render, I found another CP that needed a small relocation or a spline layout that needed a rethink. I can see why 3D scanning of an actor's face is so appealing for a digital replacement. I still don't think the likeness is convincing but I'm sending her to Hair & Makeup anyway! (Maybe I'll say I'm modeling Ann Sheridan's stand-in. 😄 )

Some of you may remember the image I did for the April image contest, which you can see here: http://www.hash.com/stills/displayimage.php?album=30&pos=41 I was asked if I would donate this scene for inclusion on the AM CD, and I agreed to do so. However, the CD is intended for new users to be able to load up the scene, click 'render' and have the nifty scene produce a cool result. My scene there relies on Darktrees for about 90% of the texturing, and since the Simbiont is a 3rd party utility (and a little confusing to get running for someone who's never even used AM), I agreed to do a remake of the scene using only textures/materials that can run in …

Creating a moving image on a flipping book page. I know its possible to add a series of animated images files as a decal, which then becomes part of an animated sequence- but how do you start and end the moving picture sequence in the right place in the cho - short of bumping the decal up with static shots. So say the moving sequence is 3 secs long, but the whole sequence is 10 secs and you dont want it to start until 4 secs in. How would you all handle it? Chris

This is a bot I modeled based on a friend of mine's illustration. You can see the original drawing here. Considering that I did it only from that drawing I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turning out. I still have a little more shading to do but I hope you like.

Haven't posted a new project in a long time. This is what I am currently working on. It is a scale layout of one of the workcenters where I work. I made some significant layout changes in this area about 4 months ago and I wanted to be able to demonstrate the differences. Taking pictures was not doing the trick. This is the new layout. All of the components are the same for the old layout it was just different. A couple of notes: Nothing is bevelled. I do not intend to get much closer than what is shown in this shot so I didn't want to waste the time modelling and subsequently rendering bevelled parts. My wife and I are celebrating our 23rd anniversary today, so I'm created a bouquet for my wife. Actually this will be part of a card I'll be printing shortly. Yes, I am indeed prone to bad puns! Howdy Hashers I couldn't resist posting this WIP showing my intrepid heroes getting into trouble. I am quite pleased with it but it certainly ain't finished. Superman takes on the size changing Super Mega Fox. The Superman model was from the Extras DVD. I originally was going to render this in toon style but I thought it turned out rather well here. I have run into some difficulty with bumpmaping. When I apply it on a simple grey surface it works quite nicely with 150% But when I add some procedural parameters on that surface it no longer shows up. (Same is happening when I add a fake rim light to the whole model) It`s not supposed to be that way is it? What can I possibly be doing wrong? I am on PC AM15f

Hey everybody, I just gotta say thanks again to jamagica for his rig, I really love it. Anyway, i was up pretty late last night, and finished my first human character EVER!!! He is rigged, almost done mapped, and fully ready to kick some butt. (except for his helmet, i need to do somthing to that so i dont look like a fro) These results are wonderful for me! I added a few bones to the rig, to fix a few problems with intersecting stuff I hope you like it. PS. this is just a really rough test, but it (shows off my finished character) swat_dude_test.rar

Once the sun it at its highest then its just shaggy running so no more to see at the moment. please note that there is no preloader required, so no waiting time at all as i have used a progressive download for the music and some of the video. you will need a flash 8 player in order to watch it.

This one is hard to explain...but imagine that each of the pillars are of different material and density and a huge force comes in from the left side of the screen and the pillars react based on their weight etc. Well I gave each pillar different settings with the rigid body constraint (enforcement) and (bounce ) mainly then increased the dynamic force (gravity) of the chor over time in the x and a little in the z direction this is the results. I know weird but it has a purpose need spell check for topic line...hey its late b2.mov

Hi All, Attached is a project I started to see how far I could push Dynamics in AM. There are still some issues with it as can be seen in the attached vid. You really have to play with the settings and in some cases I found if I select Constraint (under Target) and try to change it to None, it does not always change....like it becomes stuck?? Also, when selecting "Attach to Parent" on or off in bones mode and after Dynamics is turned on...AM crashes Finally, odd things are being simulated, like Objects tend to gain energy after repeated collisions with another object. So far, it appears to work best for really simple stuff. Cheers, Euge…

Hey, I'm taking random objects and and modeling them in A:M...ya know why? because Its summer and I have nothin better to do . (plus its fun) I just made a soap dispenser, but I cant make the right brass/gold color so I just kept it uncolored except for the bottom. I think I'm gonna end up making a still with the things I'm making too. I'm also making a new character, but I wanna finish it's hands and head before I show it. I have never uploaded a pic to this forum so i dont know if itll work, if it does then awesome if doesnt....then I'll try it again

Im m new at animation master and have lots of interest of learning modeling and rigging......I RECENTLY M WORKING ON A PROJECT THAT REQUIRES MY MODEL TO MOVE OR EVEN DANCE AND I SAW SOME TUTORIALS ABOUT MODELS THAT MOVED AND DANCED AND STUFF.. Hello everyone. I am starting to get into the more complex aspects of A:M, but I'm still back here in version 12 and all my books are back west, 2,088 miles away. If anyone can help me with how you'd do this, roughly, that'd be great. I was playing with mist and steam volumetrics but nothing seemed to be doing what I want. Here is what I'm after. It's a dark, misty morning with the sun rising over the mountains. As the sun rises, so does a ground mist. It starts whispy and turbulant and soon it obscures the scene and then blows away. This will reveal my logo and will be used on videos and presentations that I do. Thanks in advance. -W

I'm working on a project that involves my character standing in place, sloshing the mud using his feet & legs. In the pic, you can see that I've used five bones to manipulate the surface of the mud. The four bones lying horizontally are all constrained to "aim at" the fifth center vertical bone with the "scale to reach" selection checked. It's also translated to an additional bone I've added to the characters calf region. Now when I move the characters leg up, the surface of the mud follows but it's consistancy looks more like glue than mud. I'm considering adding an additional bone to the "mud" model and assigning a "dynamic constraint" to it to give it a bit mo…

I recently changed my Avatar to a clip of one of my 'gurlee gurls' unleashing her hair, it worked pretty well for a test...thought I would show the gang. In the model, the character's hair is 'down' with dynamics ON...then I made a pose with hair 'UP' and dynamics OFF... and as I animate I turn the pose from ON to OFF and the hair falls and becomes dynamic, which I thought was purty cool... I plan to further explore the ability to use grooming mode in poses and actions. To see the clip, simply roll-over my avatar and a button will appear to see the QT sample.

I've started once again on a generic anime figure, as part of my Steampunk Samurai Saga. I've only got the head so far:[attachmentid=13993] I think he needs another spline ring around the eyes, and around the mouth. (Actually, the spline from the corner of the nostril should go around the mouth, I think). Also, the ear is still rough. I need to add more detail to it. Other than that, how is it looking so far?

I've got everything in place except the fingers. When I started opening the hidden bones, I discover that there's a single bone labeled "Right Thumb", but below that there are additional bones for each joint. What do I do? Do I put the "Right Thumb" bone in place, and layer the other three joints over it? Or...
