I had already done the excercise a while back but did not like the lack of detail in the excercise. As all of you who have done the excercise know, the rotos supplied do not match in their dimensions. Sure they are decent references, but I wanted something a bit more accurate. So here is my attempt at a little more accuracy. Just to clarify, this is a WIP.

John Burch and I have been collaborating on an industrial visualization project. John has done an excellent job, particularly considering his exposure to industrial automation was zero before he started on this project with me. John's website is http://www.lizardfire.com check it out, he has some great stuff there, and also consider him for contract work. This image is for an automation company. Their client wanted to see a virtual example of what the 2d drawing looked like. The work is meticulous and requires great attention to detail. David

Hi, this is my first final render of a project I've been working on for an art competition at my school. I'm hoping to add some fire and smoke on the back of the planes to make the image look more dramatic. Any comments and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [attachmentid=15097]

Thought I'd finally take a crack at modeling a realistic head to go with the ears I made earlier. This is a self portrait (egomaniacal person that I am). I made ears during a post debating what is the most difficult body part to model. (The "ears have it" in this case.) The ear models (I made an elf/orc version, too) are still available if anybody needs ears for their own model. Ears Here's the face to go with the ears (idealized of course--"Isn't he so handsom! Gaffaw, gaffaw..."). Any suggestions for improvement--for the model that is, not plastic surgery for myself--are quite welcome. Thanks!

Hey guys! Here is a character i've been working on the rigging for over the last week for a short film i'm involved in. So these are mainly to test out his skeletal rig (no facial poses yet) The rig I finally settled on uses the TSM2 and wieght mover, with Cog bones for the knees and elbows (Thank you Mike Fitzgerald!) and custom CP wieghting to fix a few other problems. The rig seems to be working pretty well so far, comments and crits welcome. -Ethan You may want to save these so you can play them looped in your player. Sorry I don't know how to automatically make the MOVs play looped. [attachmentid=16565] [attachmentid=16567] [attachmentid=16568…

I am relatively new to modeling. I think the 1951 Mercury might be good for a start. This is the most original and unmodified pic I have found yet: As for this one, Cool but NO NO, it's been modified: ANYHOW, anyone got Rotoscopes for the side and back of a Mercury before I start modeling... .

Trying something I usually don't do and that is modeling. I am posting a wireframe and shaded wireframe to help with my questions. This model will be animated and I was wondering if the normal rigs will work when there are no hand or mainly feet. And any potential trouble with the model ..I noticed that the arms could use another ring or two of splines....There will be no mouth only implied by the bouncing of the nose. And I have to add a tail. The skirt will be cloth. [attachmentid=18162] [attachmentid=18163] Thanks Johnl3d

Heya all, Long story short: my powerbook (G4 1.33GHz, 1.25 gig of ram, GeForce 5200 64 meg of video ram) died last month and I cobbled together a PC out of parts while waiting for Apple to figure out how to fix it. The PC: - GeForce 2 GTS (32 meg of video ram, AGP 1 or 2, I'm not sure) - 512 Meg of ram - 1.1 GHz athalon A friend of mine urged me to dust off my 2005 disc and try AM again on the PC, just to see, and wow! Despite being a shadow of my Mac laptop, AM *screamed* on this PC. (The funny part is that it sat caseless on my desk for a while as well, cables snaking out from the motherboard.) It's two months later and after two small modeling proje…

A simple task as picking up a telephone receiver is more than meets the eye. OK, so I have Shaggy answering a phone; I wat him to pick up the receiver with the cord attached to it. In order for the cord to follow the receiver, I made the receiver bone a child of the last cord bone so that where ever the receiver goes the rest will follow. However, when i constraint the receiver to Shaggy's hand, the rest of the cord bones do not follow Now if I make the receiver the parent bone, the problem is the cord will move as a solid part of the receiver and you wouldn't have the amiability of the cord. Would appreciate it if anyone out there has the solution to sha…

Here are 3 images of a crash case we are working on. It is supposed to be a night scene. We use volumetric lights on the vehicles because it helps indicate the lights are shining. There are also non-volumetric lights to illuminate the road. My question is: How do you eliminate the banding visible at the point of emission? From the head on view (bottom picture) it looks great. (head-on, bad pun ) We are using Volumetrics with Z buffered shadows for render considerations. There was another thread where someone recommended using geometry with transparency and roughness to simulate this type of thing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanc…

Hi. I don't have problem with making faces or other object. When it came to making a car model I thought that would be dead easy as I have all my rotoscopes matching evenly. But when I get to Extruding Splines ( example the car wind screen) I find I cant get the splines that make up the part to spread or curve evenly. I cant post a WIP as I keep deleting and starting all over. Some were they has to be an example of a curved object made from a Rotoscope showing what to do as one extrudes from on edge to another. Most of the WIP on car modeling have models that are complete. I am sure that I am missing out something very subtle. After all I figured out how to get all …

This topic will serve as my main topic. I upload my animations to http://rl01.revver.com/account/show/UberAnimator. I will post a new reply with a link to the video in question when I have a new one up. Right now feel free to comment on all my videos I have there. This should make it a lot easier to keep track of my animations. The reason I am using revver over YouTube is because it is fast, and does both flash and our all time favorite, QUICKTIME . Looking forward to comments. New Additions: WIP#1 - Quinton Kleer On Santa | Time: 0:00 - 0:07 Quinton Kleer #1 My Animations - FIXED

Hi all I made this mike as part of my music video project. and have run into a problem. The top and bottom mesh's are the exact same decal, it kame out pretty well at first and looks quite cool, until I decided to make it a bump map, as I wanted the wire mesh to stand out to add detail. so top part bump mapped, bottom part is just the decal. [attachmentid=21147] now for the question: Do I forget about the bump mapping and just leave the top section same as the bottom half. Or: if someone can explain to me what I'm doing wrong that the decal comes out white? (It is originally a grayscale .tga image) And please as always, comments will be ap…

Hey guys, so eventually I want to make an action type short animation with the models I've made and I figure I have to get good at action type animation between 2 or more characters. Well, I couldn't sleep last night so I figured I'd burn off the energy by getting started on some excersizes. I'm certainly in no way happy about the outcome, but I figure I'd share as I always seem to get some good feedback from everyone here. What I did, in a nutshell, I created a bouncing fighter stance for each character and then cycled it until the punches start getting thrown. I noticed during animation that it is sort of tuff to show the effects of quick little act…

Hi fellow hashers, I have included a very low quality render ( 2 passes ) of the new hash vac. The animation was done entirely with the newton plugin by using various fans of positive and negative magnitude ( suck and blow ) to move the caveman through the vac. I have attached a green light to the caveman model so you can follow his path through the vac. Like I said low budget render but hope you enjoy and a big...huge thankyou to Steffen Gross. Look out Hoover , Hash is king! and in the vortex house there is another low quality scud render of the vortex force and newton - its twister all over again! newton_vac.mov vortex_house.mov

This is a quick animation for something I am trying. It is rigged and animated real quick and dirty. I just wanted to see how it worked. I built this model in another app and imported to a:m as obj. It came in well and had all the texture and bumb maps intact. I rigged it, animated it, and rendered it in a:m. I wont say which app I used because we arent supposed to talk about competitors, but any app that can output obj can be used. It is kind of high poly because the model was subdivided but a low poly version would have worked just as well as it is going to splines. I don't know what use it is but I just feel like exploring other things I can do with a:m. attached …
