ddustin and I are collaborating on a project, not so much working together, but helping each other out with tips and techiques, and thought we'd post a message here to get some feedback (suggestions , tips, and/or techniques) as how to proceed. The animation in question would be a short, not really a movie per sae, more of a commercial. The camera opens up onto a small building (very small, appears to be big enough only for a single person to stand inside). I am having a bit of trouble getting the decal to look right on this. it is supposed to look like orange paint applied to the glass. right now it looks like orange tint applied to glass.

This is a project I'm working on... http://www.expropaganda.se/Animations/Hit_...Can_Trailer.mov I plan to animate the whole fight, and hopefully add a room for them to fight in. I choose this approach, because I'm doing this as an animation exercise for myself, and thought that if I add the room from the start, I might get bogged done in details... So fight first, then room, lighting, etc. I have no idea if it can be put together in that order, but I suppose it willl be interesting finding out Any thoughs are welcome. MagnusC

Hi there, i just recently had the idea on an cartoon filem with an caveman and an huge dinosaur like worm which lives underground. I had the idea for quite some time now, but now i finaly found the time to model, texture and reigg at least the caveman. There is still some work to do, but it is going in the right direction. To set up this caracter, modelling, texturing and rigging (Setupmachine) took me about 2 days. What do you think guys? Cheers, Heiner

This is purely for entertainment value if there is any. It's around 4mb and wmv format. I did this around two years ago using a couple of donated models from the cd and a few of my own. It was really my first little story animation. You'll notice changing shirt colors, breaking mesh, and flickering probably among other things so I'm not really looking for critiques. So after finally getting my act together and upgrading to 13 I realized that it's been a looong time since I spent some quality time with am's renderer. That's right, I'm a modelling tweaking addict, nothing is ever good enough to render for me. So I decided to make an abstract simple scene and use it to play around with and try to make it drastically different each time I render it. I constrained myself to only changing rendering options, lights, and materials. The camera position and geometry are locked down, you have no idea how tempting it is to twiddle with these for me . Hey guys, I was going to post this in the rigging section, but maybe not until I hammer some more things out. But since I've gotten myself interested in some old models again, I've taken another stab at something that's always bothered me.... the spine!!! Hi I dug up an old fish model and started messing around with materials and lighting and rendering and stuff. Hows it look? I put on ambient occlusion but I don't know if it made a difference.

Hi all I have received so many helpful tips and things from you guys. now I think its time for me to give something back. its a model of a strutt I made with sweeper for the stage of my virtual band, here's a pic [attachmentid=19699] and heres the model, I havn't textured it, I just set the color to light grey, you can change it any way you like. I don't know if it's really a Showcase piece, but after finishing the modeling and getting the bones setup and the Smart Skin, I needed to do a simple pose to see how everything is working...so maybe a step up from a WIP? Well, here it is: Rendered in A:M v13f, AO turned on with one Key light and Sky Textured sphere, as an OpenEXR and then motion-blurred in Adobe Photoshop. Size was originally 1400 X 2000 but was cropped in Photoshop. Render time was around 2.5 hours on my Mobile P4 with 2GB RAM. - pjc

Did a simple sweeper test using a path, an outline to sweep and a model to duplicate [attachmentid=19655] swept the outline E shape then duplicated the screw 15 times and got this [attachmentid=19656] since all the screws were one sweeper object easy to color and the same for the outlined shape project v13e [attachmentid=19657] look at the placement of the swept objects...it does not matter where the path is but swept object will treat it as the base relating to 0,0,0 testsweep.zip

Well, I finally decided to finish this image. I didn't have any time so I made a simple background. Everything was made, rendered, and composited (A:M Composite) in A:M. Except for the blue gradient background, text, and some very minor paint fixes on parts of the constume webbing. I don't really know how to use Composite very well, but I'm fairly happy with my results. Bloom to the spec layer. Another Bloom to the rest. Tinted my ambient gradient. And some other stuff. Meet the Little Barbarian! Short of stature, but big on courage… or not… This is one model that I have been working on (and off ;-) ) during the last year. I have just been having fun modeling, but in time some little animation emerges from the fog in the distance… [attachmentid=15581] So far I have him modeled, and I have his head textured… Rest of him is textured with procedural materials (easily visible with the hair) and waits for my spare time… Textures made with Painter Classic. Light is standard 3 – light choreography setup. Not rigged yet: just two bones in his body so far: head and jaw… I am waiting for the final v11 squetch rig… …

Well schools started and i'm preparing for the science fair, and i'm gonna use A:M for it, how? Okay, so here are some shots from a fly-through animation of the Sol system model I'm putting the finishing touches on for the Extra II DVD. All the image maps are either from JPL, NASA or one of their observatories. They are free for public consumption and reuse as we see fit. (Yes, I will have the appropriate End User License file in the project.) So far I have all the 9 planets, the sun (Sol) as well as all of the cataloged and named satellites of each planet. Hello Everyone ... I thought I would share a new animation that I have created. It is for an educational project in development called "Astronomy 101" and is geared towards ages 8-11. Hi I am working on something for fathers Day. I want to make an animation of my dad playing conga drums and singing babaloo if I can finish it in time. My friend jin kazama is making the conga drums. I started the head today. I was just gonna make a simple round head and put glasses and hair on it but my friend jin kazama encouraged me to push it more and I'm glad he did, I am happy with how it's coming. I should be busy learning a software package right now but I wanted to do this. Attached is the head. I will update later.

I have started rendering our animations. The first picture is from intro chor and the second is from part two. The animation was broken into 5 parts for animating and rendering. The settings are the same in each chor and this was rendered on one machine and then on net render. Notice the inside part of tool box that there is a shadow? has anyone run into this? The first picture was the first chor and the second picture is the from the second chor. All the other chor are rendering with the black shadow on both a stand alone machine or one in the net render farm. Any thoughts????? Hey everyone...long time no pictures. I've been working on a new Superman model and it's far enough along to start sharing. This model started life as Jim Talbot's Superman model from the "Kingdom Come" series that he gave away years ago to the 3D comic collective website. Jim did such an awesome job I decided to use his model as a base for a "regular" version of the character. I still have LOTS of work to do, but I'm liking the progress so far. A few nights ago i thought of how viper was modleing a car, and so i though well maybe i should try to model a car at first i thought i should model my favorite car a mustang, or i could draw my own car. but then i discoverd i suck at drawing cars. so i started drawing and adding stuff as i go. eventualy i had a futuristic motorcycle!! Hey everyone. The Animation Contest guidelines specify that entries have to be 320x240 pixels, but, judging from the other entries, to quote Pirates of the Carribean, those are apparently more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. I'll know better next time. In any case, because of how dark and high-contrast my 'Mood Shot' entry was, I thought I'd provide a link to a higher-res version, for anyone who might be interested. Our new film has been off to a slow start.. mainly beacuse iv been having a lot of problems with it lol. so after some large problems I decided to take the long weekend off. (including yesterday) but I didn't want to stop modeling cuz i love it so I decided to make some lego.. mainly because its easy, fun, and I just recently watched leo's "Beatles: A tribute" I went with the Rebel snowspeeder, because it was the only lego thing I had still standing lol only took me 1 day to make all the pieces and four hours today to build it. Started a new WIP post with a more appropriate heading. Picked this old model up and started tweaking again. Here are some quick renders with some color experiments - none of which I like. Also worked some more on the interior - dash, gauges, seats, door panels, center console and stick. The body is undergoing tweaking every time I touch the project. The metal is getting smoother every time. I also reworked the rims of the car, loosing over 500 cps without changing the look of the rims. This was done just by getting more experience in modeling and eliminating what was not necessary. I've started working on the engine compartment and will post a r…

I started this guy a few days ago. I didn't create it from scratch however. For my learning process, I used already established meshes and changed them to fit what I needed. Only the bracers and boots are my own creation. Anyhow, any and all critics are welcome to aid me in my modeling. Hello All, I wasn't going to post anything for quite some time on our developments or productions (and so on) but I couldn't wait to show you the beginnings of our developments on our short film. Mind you this is still a work in progress and there are a few things to tweak, add or modify. This is just a simple test of how the main character is coming along. The designs are mine but since I am not able to model due to lack of time and of course it would take me a hell of a lot longer then someone who actually eats, poops and sleeps modeling, I had to use the services of others.
