Hi i'm new here and have no idea if this is were to put this. I will be getting A:M soon and wanna introduce you to my dream project: Hey everyone. This is sorta a sneek look at what my movie will be like. Now I hope for my first chapter to be complete by august and my second by September, if not sooner. Here is what i have panned right now, other details are under raps until release. Chapter 1: I Am the Lard Knight (Pts. 1 and 2) Wario Wario works at "Mushnick's florist" , which never gets customers. While the place is burglarized by Rupert Thorne and his men, Batman is killed trying to save the shop and Wario disguises himself as b…

I got my little demon sprite [now known as the Wright Sprite] flying. Unfortunately, I'm only cleared for VFR landings, and in order to bring him back to earth, I had to go into a direct side view in the Choreography [#2] and turn off the Terrain and Rocks so I could see his feet touch down. This added a keyframe which I didn't notice at the time. When I got the sequence ended, I tried to watch it through the Cameras view as I moved the scrubber. The ground disappeared and came back, plus a few lights that I had turned off [and back on] so there were fewer lines running all over the place. I tried selecting them and deleting. I opened the sub-folders under each item and …

This is something i started a while back (using an amiga) and was wondering if there's a way to do this in A:M. Oh silly me, there's always a way. I was thinking along the way of an action with a slider?! f18.mov

New work I've just finished - wasn't really sure if I considered the render a "Finished" image so I'm posting here to get a little feed back The video is a simple little dance-ish animation to test the deformation in her shoulders, I think it turned out well. Now to decide what to do with her Comments most welcome! Animation

The lastest in my fascination with tracked vehicles. This, a generalized Soviet T-series tank. I've been keeping a Photoshop record of each step and expect to put together a tutorial when the treads are done and moving.

Last night I modified the demon sprite by selecting some of the mesh in the head and extruding it up to form a helmet, then added the lenses. When I looked at him in the Choreography, the helmet was there. as expected, until the head section moved away from its default posirtion. 'Looey' runs down a length of road and the helmet follows behind. How is it that the model can come apart? I've never seen this before. I closed out, did a re-start...but it didn't help.

Using the little Mignola demon faerie, I have an eight-frame wingbeat cycle. I'm trying to build an Action in which he arches his back [chest out] stretches his arms out to the side, brings them front and claps his hands twice. Then drop into the 'ready-set-go' runners position. I want the wing cycle to happen sporadically as part of the warm up...but can't find a way to dupe the keyframes as a group. [in previous apps., I could Select>Alt>and drag copies] You'll see in the timeline where I duped the action one keyframe, one channel at a time. But is there a faster way? Second, when I paste the new keyframe in, it inserts a keyframe in every channel. Then …

Looking at Wm.Sutton's Mr.Dodo, in which he used the hair function for feathers, I'm wondering if anyone's used it for masses of vegetaion. Seems an umbrella-like dome could be duped and stacked to form treetops. Smaller ones with dodo-like 'feathers' could serve as bushes.

Well it's been a long while. Little bit here, little bit there but I have something that I want to show. Yes, the lighting needs work. Yes, some of the sounds need a little tweaking. And yes, some of the textures might need modification. But what the hell, it tells the story so far! I will perfect it and add a little bit more before contecting the other bits I have done and then I think I will be almost half way through my little flick which should be all of 10-15 minutes. I am pleased... I think... BE WARNED IT IS NEARLY 60MB BIG AND YOU NEED QUICKTIME 5.0 OR ABOVE Bear Wood

Hello all. I just stopped by to thank the Hash team for creating a great program. I've been using it for several years, but had never really stepped up to create something on my own. But, I finally have, and it's all thanks to AM. I have a dream that fits in nicely with the the whole ' one man, one laptop, kitchen table' idea and I have been working for the passed 3 or 4 months to fulfill that dream. Starting with a script and my laptop, I set out to create my film. So far I've completed 24 minutes and soon will compile a DVD. But for know, I'm completely satisfied in my endeavour. If anyone is interested, I have a trailer on my website at www.animace.biz. I've tried usi…

Hey Guys, It's Simon, Director and Animator for SIP's longest running 3D Production, Against The Author, The Beginning of the End. I just thought after recently returning to browse the Animation Master Forums that I should stop in and post a little preview on how things are going with ATA. Well, the movie was suppose to be released Winter 2006, and, a few weeks before release, we had a system crash and lost most of our work. Yet, after re-installation of Animation Master and all other needed programs, SIP is well underway in producing Against The Author again, with the new release date set for later this year. The movie itself is a 3D Animated Action/Comedy, exp…

Hello, everyone! I'm not sure if this is asking too much, but I'm hoping there's someone out there who would be willing to help for the fun of it, or who knows where I could find one. I love A:M's easy to use choreography interface and finding staging and animating very intuitive, but a modeler I am not. To be honest, between writing the script, teaching myself how to greenscreen, research, etc etc, building a model from scratch is something I'm not having a lot of time left to dedicate to. If you are interested in jumping onboard, please contact me. I'm looking for a realistic as possibe Rebel A-Wing. All the 3DS models out there import very poorly to A:M.

I made this portfolio for a class, which required 3 original shorts, each around 5 seconds long. I'm still learning about modeling, rigging and animation, so I appreciate any comments and constructive criticism on how I can improve. Hope you enjoy. Just thought I would post some shots of how my new model project is coming along. I have been asked to do some shots for a Star Wars Fan film (for free of course). 5 shots each revolving around a babies head - so I need a babies head model (very specific since they already have shots of the baby I need to duplicate the real one......) and it needs to be rigged for basic baby facial work. Unfortunately I have only a front roto to work from so I have to 'wing it' somewhat. So I will welcome comment/recommendations about how it's working out as I progress. For those wanting to learn how to model a face - I highly recommend "Model a Face with Bill Young" c/- Anzo…

I dug out my Sgt. Tubbs character [the guy in my avatar pic.] and am trying to work with hair. After massaging it about [ in V.11, about six months agao] I discovered that even if I hid everything except the moustache, the hair applied itself to the whole model. Tonight, I copied the moustache into a new .mdl and applied the hair to it, thinking to bring Tubbs and it together in the choreography. The b/w pics are from the modeling window. The hairs are overly fine and I think I could do with fewer if I made them thicker. It's the choreography that has me boggled. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what I see in the model window. I tried to do a screen r…

OK! This will be a model of my Ranger in GW. But that's pretty far off. I've made a body mock-up and now I'm working on the head. Here's where I'm at: [attachmentid=23207] Lookin' kinda freaky. [attachmentid=23208] I've gotten this far with the help of the great 'Cooper' Tutorial. My questions: - Am I using too many 5 point patches? - How to fix those creases on the side? - Does he need more CPs? - Should I put this on hold until I get my version 13 upgrade? (Just in time for Christmas. ) Suggest away! Now that I've made this thread, I should be more motivated to work on him! Updates will happen!

While working on a new WIP, I started playing around with hair. In the modeling window I groomed the hair just like I wanted only to discover that the grooming does not translate into the chor. In the chor the model looks just like it did before I groomed it. I have to mention that the model was already in the chor before I groomed it in the modeling window. I say this because I just did an experiment where I made a new chor and imported the groomed model into the new chor. This time the grooming transferred into the chor. I would have thought that hitting the spacebar would update the model with the grooming intact, but it doesn't. Is there another way to up…

The Dark Skull Productions team, Rich Jackson and John Hubickey have been working on the "TekNu" Project Sentinel character over the past couple of days and we want to share a high quality rendering. This character will be one of the bad guys in the upcoming "TekNu" mini sci-fi movie project. { warning, image 1.6 meg. 3900 x 3900 px } The Sentinel is approximately 10' to 12' tall, menacing, fast, and will do as commanded. Driven by the Core computer of the mechanical planet, the Sentinel is the robotic workhorse and will perform tasks such as moving heavy equipment, sentry duty and even destroying or killing anything or person the central computer finds a t…

Answers in Genesis (AiG), Christian apologetics and creation science organization, as well as builders of Creation Museum in greater-Cincinnati, has redesigned their extremely popular website. A key feature of the redesigned site is a new "Get Started" section that features an introduction video ("About AiG") that includes one of my 3D animations that I created for them. www.AnswersInGenesis.org is the single most-popular Christian apologetics website, receiving over 50,000 unique visitors (not hits) every day, which is about 150,000 page views. In a month, the website reaches hundreds of thousands of unique vistors (again, not hits because that would register in the…

I started on a learning project. I want to light a dance floor in a scene. Just starting to play with lights and the effects they have. I can see in my head the dance scene in Saturady Night Fever how the floor lit up. In a couple of test of placing a light under the flooring in the scene the light was not bright in the middle of the bulb. I can not the effect I want. Anyone have a suggestion? I have included a test shot. The trim rings are set for the colors of the lights and used as a guide. But as you can see the light is dark in the center of the light where it should be the brightest. What am I doing wrong? Steve

I've got a new Theodore N' Fink script in the works and I figured it was time to revamp the characters from a short I did back in 2004. If I can pull it off there will be a childrens series on the way! My dream would be to make a living with AM doing such a series. Here is the link to the old clip. http://migrate.hash.com/amfilms/search/entry.php?entry=1096 At any rate. The old rig had lots of issues and so i've been able to redesign him incorporating all the new things i've learned since 2004! I'm still trying to decide if I like the more realish look as compared to the older more cartoonish look. Also the new one takes 13 seconds to render as opposed to 6 on …

Hello, I've made a few sets for an animation project, and since this is my first time doing this kind of thing, I would like to get feedback (suggestions, stuff you like, stuff you hate). Anything will help. Thank you very much. p.s. the two city areas are supposed to be lit like it would be sunset...if they don't look that way, please inform me of my error. Also, the other images are from inside the mech.

this is the second piece with my animated self-portrait. Mostly it was a test to see how easily a second mo-cap session could be dropped on the puppet. My approach tries to do all adjustment on the puppet, rather than the mo-cap data. The goal is to just drop the action on the character and be 95% done. The reality was only about 85%, but that's not bad for a first shot. Here is a link to the piece on Youtube: As with the last piece ( ), I hope to post this on A:M films, but I'm waiting to hear back from HASH about that. Ben

'kay, so here's the piston, cam and flywheels. yet to do are the cylinder and the stand. I'm trying to work (at this point) without using decals or materials. they will be added later. It's based on an old Popular Mechanics article where a candle is used to "power" this engine. The flame from the candle fills the cylinder, then a valve closes off the flame. This creates a vacuum in the cylinder which is the "power stroke" which opens the valve and the flame is then readmitted to the cylinder. and so on. I've got to get the flywheels and piston to look as though they were machined stainless steel. This is just a start, and I need to study up on reflect…

I'm working on a 5-minute short, and here's a look at one of my characters. I'm still revising the decaling and some of the splinage, but this is a very rough idea of where I'm going. He is composited with a real-life background, as he will be in the short. In the picture above he has on a t-shirt (better decal to come later) in an unsuccessful attempt to cover up his "property of" stencil. The short is about a couple of sandbags who run away from their jobs (keeping the NYC subways from flooding) and come out to California. Here they are back in NYC (in a B&W flashback): All comments and suggestions welcome! -Vance

I have been pretty quiet recently because I've been working hard on virtual me. I wanted to experiment with puppeting a realistic character, and I figured I was the best reference available. The model is not quite as elegantly splined as some of the other self portraits that have been posted recently, but my focus was on movement. So here's a first test at virtual me. There are still some tweaks to be made in both the motion and the model, but this is a promising start. Sorry it's so short, but I had to fit in the 2mb limit take20.mov
