Here's what I have so far for the January 11 second club. Its a bit more challenging this month with three characters and their voices overlapping. The scenario is : A lady walking out of the pet store with a couple of Dodo birds she just purchased and they are all very happy. The lady will be clapping something in her hands during the clapping part but haven't thought of anything fitting yet. dodotest4.mov BTW those Dodo birds are cool models and they are on the extras DVD.

this is a test for an fx shot. I'm going to add in some lasers, explosions and smoke, etc. But I'm wondering how convincing this looks, before I continue. It's basically just animated photo- manipulation... http://mysite.verizon.net/vze1qub6/sitebui.../bostonufo4.mov Several things I notice: The boats don't move. I'm planning on cutting one or two out and putting them on seperate layers, and adding some rocking. Also I've thought about putting a small flag on the boat in the foreground, so that there's one more element of movement in the foreground. There's something going on with the buildings when the ufo is onscreen. It's got to do with the mo…

Here is a dog model I have been working on. I think he's done but any suggestions for improvement are welcome. I designed him for the mascot competition so I wanna make him really good. I'm sure there will be better than this in the competition but I am pretty happy with him. Well, I hope you like him. Take Care

I'm working on a Australian Shepherd model and I'm trying to add hair to the model but I'm wondering is there an easy way to control the hair color? The hair lengths isn't right yet either, but that is such a tedious task to adjust so I'm saving that for later. Correct me if I'm wrong or leaving out an option, but I can control the color of the hair either by: 1.) Model Surface patch color. 2.) Surface color of the hair material. 3.) A image in the Hair material. I was hope was that if I decaled the surface with colors I wanted, those colors would translate to the hair color but that doesn't seem to be the case. A bunch of decals with alphas channels to …

I have been asked to post a request for a dog model. We are in the final editing stage of our children's video, and how it happened I don't know, but we have overlooked the animated dog. Anyway the director asked me about modeling the dog and I can but I am animated the last sequence and they want the dog ready asap. Soooo, is there any one that has model a dog, preferably a lab, but any dog can be used. (and they are willing to pay) Steve

It's been awhile - I couldn't even tell you how long; maybe as much as two years. Lack of funds, lack of processing power, lack of that extra computer or two, lack of time, etc. I had to make a choice between AM and guitar and I chose guitar. Things have not gone quite as planned, but how often in life do they? There hasn't been a day that I haven't missed playing in the realms of 3D modeling and rendering and I finally decided that it's become enough of a distraction that I need to scratch the itch. Guitar is still my overwhelming priority but I'm going to start spending a little time each day working with AM again. I can't say how much time that will be but it'll almost…

I have begun my final project for Digital Film class. It is a humorous/macabre short entitled "Dogfood". The style is somewhat german expressionist, somewhat my own strange sensibilities. The man in it is tormented day and night by the barking dog in his neighbor's apartment, until he exacts his revenge. The man never actually sees the dog barking, so the script had called for a sillouhetted dog, rather than something too specific. Since I have no dog, much less one that would be willing to act in this part, I have opted to use a CG stunt dog. It doesn't need to be photoreal, just a suggeston of a dog. My digital film teacher has a vendetta against A:M th…

This is just a quick experiment doing a dolly shot. The background is a layer object ,as are the trees and the grass. There is a Sun light oriented to match the sun in the background (with lens flare). The rock in the foreground is the only geometry (it was a test on using props in the landscape, but it isn't lighting correctly so just ignore MATTE_TEST.mov

I took a break from building models and decided to start learning about poses and facial animation. Here a link to 4 very small clips. I have no way of assembling them. It is getting easier each every as some things become familiar. Questions: a) If I attach these heads to their respective bodies will they remember the poses? Is it better to import the body into the head file or vice versa? c) If I rig the faces and them import them onto a rigged body, can I combine the rigs by moving the bone files intot hte proper hierachy? thanks, Gaetan Facial Clips Test

I have always wanted to see what doom 3 would look like if I rendered it with radiosity. The game engine does not have any baking for lighting, so every light is ray traced. I've used the editor to take measurements of the garage I wanted to recreate, and I'm using textures from Doom 3 for all of the surfaces. The entire geometry took me around twelve hours to input into A:M, but the results are already very cool. Here is a render that I did yesterday with photon mapping but with no texturing. [attachmentid=14610] Since the image was rendered, I have added railing, more pipes, wires in the back area, and a few textures. The animation shows the room a bit …

This may be counter intuitive to all those who model showroom pristine cars but I prefer my props to have some mileage on them, especially a taxi cab. There is a dent in each door (the passenger one is somewhat lost in the reflection of the lower hinge) and two in the rear fender. All four use the same normal decal with identical scaling and amplitude. I'm still testing to see whether I get convincing results by scaling just the decal or I have to make small, medium, large and asymmetric dent models.

door_jam2.mov Fairly early version of Ted opening the door (the model has changed a bit as well since this). For the moment he doesn't get much further than the doorknob...but the main timing and action so far seem pretty decent.

im having some trouble with my dope sheets i was reworking all of the poses, editing the relationships for the lipsync in my animation. but when i attempted to test it about half of my lipsyncs stopped working i checked my dopesheets and they work fine there attempted to delete and reimport the dopesheet lipsync action thing and they still wouldnt work tested the lipsync inside a new choreography and the lipsyncs work fine their, they just no longer wish to work inside my old choreography does this mean im going to have to rebuild all the lipsyncs in my choreography from scratch? or what is going on?

The total patch count is 5872 and 5400 of them is the pattern (lots longer render time). How can I go around this problem? //Korken

Hello there, for those of you that have been following this in the main forum, here it is: there are some creasing problems around the legs, I tried to keep it to 4 pt patches but in a few spots I just couldn't do it. On a positive note, the creasing doesn't seem to be as visible in the final render.

Hi everybody. It's been a while since I posted. I was working insane hours at work, blew out my back, and got fired the next day. It was a temp job though, and I knew I would get let go soon. I now have time to work on some stuff some more. This character is my spin on the Draconian from the series of Dragonlance books. Although I have the head done I have yet to decide if I will add the detail that I have in the reference with splines, or if I will try to do it with decals. The patch count is already at over 1200, just for the head, ugh! Let me know what you think about that. The pupil of the eye will be slitted. Right now I am using the eye from my…

I've been working on a short film about the Dragonlance books. Specifically the part where Sturm defends the High Clerist Tower and dies. I've been experiementing with diffrent styles of modeling and was just wondering what particular look do the members of the community think would fit well? I have my own particular style and prefrence but i'm not sure it fits well. I tend to have a mix of real-life and cartoon (much like my avatar pic). Any suggestions?

Andreas Deja recently returned from vacation and posted a pretty cool set of animated crowd sequences by Milt Kahl. These were cut from Disney's 'The Rescuers' but luckily are still available to us. In only seven seconds Milt conveys so much material I simply had to study them. Amazing stuff. But... I also wanted to dig deeper into some areas of A:M as well... 2D analysis tools/rotoscoping being two of those things... and so this oddity is the result. This analysis consisted mostly of quickly placed five point patches (the circles) and a few four pointers (picture frames, nose and bench) with the whole sequence re-lit in post via the Merge and Mix Post Effects in…
