I created some images for the local residents group to show the effect of widening a road and adding parking on the roadside. I've only had time to build one car, a basic Audi which uses a colour map for most of the detail, but I widened the road in a paint program and then used a camera rotoscope with the ground set to front projection. I might build some more cars, they're always useful for bg / architectural work, but the image is for a meeting tomorrow and will probably never be seen again.

It appears that when an object is put into the choreography window, the size of the bounding box and bone have little relationship to the size of the object. Frequently, an object like a house has a box approximately the size of the object. But, on the other hand, a very small object gets a bounding box that would hold Cinncinnati. Case in point: the bridge segment. The bounding box is nearly 300% bigger that the whole project. To put the cursor on the tip of the bone to rotate, I'm zoomed out so far, I can no longer see the object, let alone adjust its position. [ the red dot ids the bridge segment] I could zoom in so it's easily visible, then enter number values to…

I'm trying to add some haze to a night scene, but all settings convert it to daylight [camera background color being white] I tried other colors, but they don't look right. I tried black, which preserved the 'night-ness' but loses the sense of haze in the fore ground. How to get a light haze with a night sky?

Since I am still waiting for my AM 2006 disk (my V.11 was damaged) I had some spare time to devote to my T-rex model. I decided to try my hand at creating a head decal image. Here is what I've got so far. Please critique freely.

Started on a new movie based on Shadowrun the RPG. So far I have 2 other people helping me with this project. I'm doing all the modeling and choreography. I need someone who can do textures and materials and to help with the renderings. My script writter has done an excellent job coming up with a good plot and characters. Now I just have to get it rolling a little faster. You can check out our web site here: http://www.angelfire.com/planet/dungeonlair/

Hello- While reading the LiteFace tutorial I noticed a picture of a head model which is being used to illustrate the tutorial. Attached is the picture of the model. Is that face model available anywhere? I am having a little bit of trouble trying to understand where the placement of the bones are around the lip area.. Many thanks for any info... Tom

The last three topics at the four-hour Animation Showdown were: Gymnast I Want Candy! Stuck! Due to inclement weather and a power outage "Candy" never got finished. And "Stuck" didn't get finished even with full power. But there they are, such as they is! You can see them on my Showdown Page.

Hi I am trying to get back to animating again. I was messing around and did a few dance moves for my frogman today. Just a little thing but I haven't animated in a looooooong time. That will change though. I'm gonna get back to boot camp on Monday. Got some things to do before then. Then I will do work on TWO. Anyway, it feels good to move bones around again. This one is just for fun but feel free to rip at it. Edit: fixed feet through floor. frogman2.mov

Pretty self explanatory. When I use a decal and apply it as a distortion map, it produces these tears in my model's arms. The percentage is only set to about 70, so it's not like it's stretching the map all to heck and back. The decal is applied in a on/off pose with the models arms set to origin in the correct orientation with a "cylindrical" application method. What is causing these tears?

Here is my victorian house. I never would have started this if I knew how much work all the little peices of trim would be. It is still very much a WIP, but of course C&C would be great. The bottom floor is mostly done, but the upper floor and tower are barely begun. I am using a tune render beacuse it shows more of the detail before I texture and color. oh and the colors are just placeholders

Hey hashers, Like the announcer in the show says "Voltron was needed once more..." so I had to model him. I learned so much about mechanical modelling by tackling this. Now I've got to learn organic modelling and I'll feel like I know what I'm doing. I had to keep it quiet for the last few weeks since he was in the Image Contest. I think it took me about 20 hours or so, working a little bit each night over a week. Each Lion has separate models for their own legs so the lions can easily come apart and stand on their own. Also, I've never rigged anything complicated so I gave it the most basic skeleton -- just so I can move it around, it's so basic it…

Hello - 2-3 weeks back I posted a pic I had a caricature artist draw at Universal Studios http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33132 because I wanted to see how well it would work as a rotoscope for a character... using it worked out pretty good. This isn't really a "work in progress" but I would love some crits. I have created one other "human" as one of my early models and she didn't come out real great - her lip movement for talking was way off too, so I kind of set her way back in the animation, so you couldn't really tell - I need more "human" modeling practice which seems to be the hardest for me, so this is the new version of her. The lip syn…

Ack...I did something a bit too quickly. When opening a project, I was prompted to click on where a model was located. I accidentally clicked on another model by mistake. I quickly exited out of loading the file. However, when I go to open the file now, it doesn't prompt me for the model again. I have now opened the project. Now, it would be simple if my project did not have any animation keyframes for the model that is supposed to be there in the first place. The model I accidentally imported in its place, is associated with the animated keyframes (both models are human bipeds and rigged exactly the same). Is there an easy way to replace the orroneous model with the…

Well, it's probably way overdue that I post a WIP thread on this project, so here's what I've got so far: This is the body for one of the two characters. Today I'll be working on modeling the head, texturing and rigging him. The other character is going to be cloned from this completed model. I'll need to make some minor changes to differentiate the two, like the other character will have longer sleeves, a thinner build, some minor tweaks to the face, and different hair/facial hair. But for all intents and purposes, the brunt of the work is going to be done on this character (Rigging, facial setup, etc) and the other character will just be a duplicate. Se…

This is the profile of common "spur gear". The edge where a gear tooth will contact the tooth of a neighboring gear has a special curve called an "involute," designed to allow the gear teeth to smoothly slide over each other as their gears turn on their axes. This curve varies depending on how many teeth a gear has (and other factors) but the tooth overall tends to have six landmark points that are easily distinguished, which I have marked in red... A spline made with six points per tooth can approximate this shape. Here I have fit six points to one tooth and used the Duplicator wizard to copy that around the remainder of the gear... …

Hello, this avi-file of a rotating blue light is my first own project outside the exercises and tutorials. Of course, it is not of artistic value. But I hope I can learn from your critics and improve my knowledge on animation:master. The most time I spent by fitting the lighting performance so that the blue light looks as real as possible.
