A while back I was contacted about donating one of my car models for the 2005 Hash cd, well I've decided to go ahead and finish the interior and basic upper engine components to give it more substance... Been working on the door jam and back seat area, here's a sneak-peek.

I know this is to be for WIP, but it's the only place where you can post an image, although I guess I could upload the file to my website. I'm having a problem decaling a beveled box. The decal ends up skewed, regardless of the format (.tga, .jpg). Tried different decals also. thanks, d

Inspired by the short animation by matricks (and follow up film by Xtaz) I made my first kamikaze run at animation. Learned a lot in the process , such as how difficult it is to create convincing motion as well as how obsessive/addictive this sort of activity can be. Fun Stuff!!! I don't have a website to post the quicktime but here are a few pics to give some account of my efforts: Pics2.zip

I'm not sure if this is just something I'm doing wrong, so I thought I'd ask before I submitted it to Hash. I posted it here so that I could attach the sample project. I have been getting some errors when making a key frame when there's a bone that rotates on the "Z" axis. I put together a project file here that illustrates what I'm encountering. In "Action1", rotate the "redhalf" bone (it should be the only one visible) on the "Z" axis (the limits are set where it should only move that way anyway), then set a key. If you are getting what I am, the geometry will move when you set the key and it will move a little more if you hit the button to set the key agai…

I'm trying to set up a mast light with 3 different colored lights. I want to be able to turn the glow on for the desired color, red, amber and green. Not all at once. Any thoughts? Attached is an image. P.S. Mast lights are used in industrial equipment to indicate status. Red means fault. Amber means alert. Green means................ Everythings OK (you thought I was going to say go, didn't you). Thanks in advance for your help d

Here's a WIP I have of an Industrial Fork Lift. The steering wheel turns the rear wheels, the mast tilts and the forks go up & down. I've got a LOT of work to do massaging the body to get the realism where I'd like it to be. Decaling would help a ton here as well. Technically the mast is telescoping (second and 3rd sections that extend as the forks move beyond the vertical limit of the lower mast section.... whew), but I haven't added those portions yet. I would also like to make the forks spread apart and come together (Real fork lifts have a shift function, to move the forks in tandem, left or right). If anyone is interested I can post the mod…

This isn't complete (the animation is still fairly rough) but I've had to put it down due to other animation commitments. I thought, rather than having it sit on my computer at home people could have a look. When I get a chance I'll get back to it, but in the meantime I'd be interested in peoples thoughts. http://www.shaunfreeman.com/samples/night_...ld_mountain.mov Its about 9.6 Mb Many thanks for William Suttons generosity in letting me use his model!

In May 2004, I sponsored a contest among select musicians to compose a unique theme for D.Joseph Design. Dane Walker composed a theme closest to my desires and very pleasing to my tastes. This animation, as company identification, is to precede "professional" media-based productions. I call this the "Gentle Logo" with the piano version of DJD Theme. Go here.

Shows a wee bit of flame on the candle..good practice of constraints (using the "Door is stuck tut") Enjoy...as always crits are welcome Eugene

Helping a buddy at work with a MMORPG; he needed a character artist so I did a quick test for him. Though I code all day now I loaded the latest version of A:M 04' up and cranked away... This render is with no materials or decals (just groups) The concept art My 12 hour attempt Hair and the body armor details (ammo pouches, radiator on the back, etc) are coming after some sleep and a stupid protocol problem at work gets resolved. Hope you like! ~Delaney {the video is DivX; sorry mac people}

Hi all! Since I suck at modeling.. I figured I'd focus on the animation for a while and try to get good at that. I went back to the 'Door's Stuck' tutorial and played around a little.. this is just the first un-polished pass so there's a lot of anomalies and timing issues.. but it's just a beginning. Steve Door's stuck first pass..

In late-July, I had the honor to speak on presentation design at the Answers in Genesis (AiG) Creation College, which was a conference to train people in creation ministry and to present the Genesis messages like Ken Ham, Carl Kerby, other international speakers from AiG. My talk title was "Making Your Presentations Zing!" I taught graphic design principles, eye candy skills, dos and don'ts of design, and more as relates to presentations—digital and otherwise—for the look of high class and professionalism. I used Apple Keynote as my presentation software for its advanced multimedia technologies and awesome transitions. The globe and all silver 3D elements were modeled in …

QT - Sorenson3 - 1.3mb I realised that I'd done some alterations to this piece (under the great advice of Mr J Barrett) and hadn't posted the final version. It's been sitting on my hard drive, neglected and alone for a month or two, and seeing as it's a finished piece, I thought that I'd post it in here. (The version posted on this forum and elsewhere is different to this one). The alterations are fairly minor, but definately add up to a much stronger little scene. They mainly relate to arcs, and carrying an action through more. I'm a sucker for details. I learnt a heck of alot from this one.

Help, When I rendered this scene, there are weird elliptical lines that show up ONLY when a particular model moves. I'm using lines in the guarding section to simulate wire mesh (mesh is commonly used in these types of industrial installations. The lines are then "rendered as lines". I didn't think it was an issue till I ran the presentation through the projector. They stick out like a sore thumb. Any help would be appreciated. d

Here is a project I worked on quite a while ago that I have decided to pull off the shelf and remake with my newer technology (faster Mac and Hash for OS X) and a little (not much) more experience. The story line is being revised and I'm going to make an attempt create it as one whole piece. I'm not going for visual superiority here, I just use simple, but nice models, camera tricks (city with only a few buildings filmed from different angles and with layers...), and maybe a lower frame rate. In this presentation everything is done in Hash except for a couple backgrounds and one cut scene, which are done in Bryce. In the new version I'm going to use a combo of Hash and Li…

Here's a preview render of my progress for Year in Review 2004. All animation will take place in this room. The current lighting is the default choreography with the addition of the two lamps. I'll tweak the lighting as time goes on. For the moment, I'm looking for modeling critiques, but if you have any helpful thoughts on lighting, textures, design, or anything else, I'd love to hear them!

As you can see below I am still piecing him together. The coloring is temporary and I am going to try making a bump map so he has the right shell. What I want to use him for, however, requires him to speak. I discussed this with a few people on the IRC chat and they said the best way to do it was to animate his face, then apply it to the model as a decal. Someone also mentioned that it is possible to use pose sliders with the decal so I could apply the decal and still change it. Does anyone know how this is done? This sounds like what I need to use.

I modeled these potion bottles and wanted a place to display them. So I modeled the table. However the bottles were lonely, so I modeled the vase and lamp to keep them company. Any suggestions (and I know there are going to be many) please post them. The Red, Green, and Orange bottles are pretty much textured. But I am wanting a more clear-colored-glass effect for the purple and blue bottles. I've tried messing with the settings and the best I've been able to come up with is what is in the pic. However I'm still a newbie, so I'm sure there's a way to do it. Thanks

I need someone to do landscapes for my series, CLone Commander. Mail me if you think you're qualified. This is a non-paying job. We need 3 different deserts (if you know about Star Wars, it's for Geonosis). Later we'll need 2 dank forests, an ocean, a cave, and 2 snowscapes. For now, though, just the deserts.

Well, some of you may have wondered what the heck happened to my project Clone Commander. I've actually been slowly sworking on it and had the entire opening sequence, but I realized that if it took me that long to do that with the time I was putting into it, it would take quite awhile. So, I might make it into more of a series. I need suggestions. Series or film? Film would give me more room to work in, and series would probably let people see my work more often. I await your comments!

Sorry, no v11 hair or jiggly boobs here... just some plastic. I made this object several months ago for a Modeling Showdown but had to experiment with lighting quite a bit after that to make a nice render of it. Lots of specular-only lights. It's not an original design, it's modeled after one I have. Any ideas on a better way to do it?

I took a break from building models and decided to start learning about poses and facial animation. Here a link to 4 very small clips. I have no way of assembling them. It is getting easier each every as some things become familiar. Questions: a) If I attach these heads to their respective bodies will they remember the poses? Is it better to import the body into the head file or vice versa? c) If I rig the faces and them import them onto a rigged body, can I combine the rigs by moving the bone files intot hte proper hierachy? thanks, Gaetan Facial Clips Test

Here's an example, no audio yet, of using distortions in the face to get some elasticity into it.... I plan to add more 'extremes' to these poses, seems you just can't make them extreme enough. In this scene MissD. complains about her boots... 'stars' were added in After Effects using an animated morey pattern. SHOE2.mov

This is based off of a beautifully lit photo of model Sachiko Kokubu. I still have more work to do on the hands, face, and cloth wrinkles, but it's mostly finished. The hair, skin, and cloth are all rendered with reflections, though the bump maps on the skin diffuse them a bit. The ribs are the only major area that I used bump mapping to cheat actually modeling the form. As always, any and all criticism is welcome. http://www.angelfire.com/film/noanoa/kokubu.html Noah

Well, here goes... Below is an 11-second lipsync test I did for a personal project I'm working on, called "Ebon." The dialog in this clip is from a 2-3 minute scene I'll start work on once I build the rest of the characters and the set. This is both my first model ever as well as my first animation ever, so it's not all it could be, but that's okay--this isn't a portfolio piece, just an excuse to teach myself the Hash interface and to suggest what the final animation might look like.
