Just thought that I would post a link to my ball guy outside Dagoos' cool animation thread. I haven't had a chance to fool with Pesto's ball, but it looks pretty cool. I made a few updates for better knee and heel control, but there is no extra controllers for you to worry about. www.chrisolsen.org/ballman.zip I think having a little competition using simple models like this would be a good idea for a future hash animtion contest.

Hello well I'm back after another PC crashed I need to upgrade anyway and all so I was messing around with the ghost hunting stuff I've gotten some weird evp's (electronic voice phanamena). Any way I working on a project was wornding can this be done I wanna scare the crap out of some of my family members. The I deal is to have a figure like shadow climbing up the wall going to the cealing and going down into that person who's sitting in the chair and play it back for them I'll tell them I got on the pc and show um. I probley have to use syntheyes camera tracking for the project also are is there any other better software out there that works good with animation …

I am trying to re-rig a character, and for the first time, [when making an Action] I find bones that will not rotate, or will rotate on only one axis. For example. In this instance, the arm on the right side of the pic. will move only fore and aft on the Y-axis. I can't move it up or down. On the other side, I can get the base of the thumb to move, but the two other digits won't. I can't even get the "rotate" symbol to show when I move the cursor over the bone. I have the bones 'locked' since I rarely use IK. I've tried IK both ON and OFF. I've unlocked the bones, but instead of moving in the screen plane, the arm section twists and spins around. Old Demo Reel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey guys, so in the process of updating my site and cleaning house in a computer sense of things, I came upon my old demo reel. Old in that I made it back in 2002 when I was interested in working in an animation studio. I probably should have just sent the thing into outerspace, as the results would have been the same. Now that I look back at it, it is no surpise as the reel isn't specifically geared towards one skill set. This is a contiuation of a previous post. I would have just carried it on, but I have been unable to access it. This is the completed advert that has just gone off to the publishers. It should be in the states soon, and the UK in a few months. Everything was created in AM except the decal photo's and the text. 2480 x 3508 Larger version will be here for a few days:-Larger Version Image was rendered in three stages, the 3d world was rendered then composited onto the star background. Final adjustment in photoshop.

howdy hashers, well i finally got down to working on implementing Jason's method, and it has been a blast! i've learned a ton of new stuff about AM and really like the ease of use once setup. i haven't set up the entire simple system, because i think i am going to go back and do the advanced setup. anyway here is a little video of my setup so far. enjoy.....any comments welcome. Greetings all. Well new question. I have a model (space station) 2 ships approach and go inside. It renders a 3 sec clip in say 45 min. Then I created a second chor. and placed the camera inside the station to view them as the ships come inside. Wants to render in like 10 hours?????? so took the original chor. and placed the camera inside and tried again, still wants to render the final 25 frames in like 5 hours. The station has a decal on it and is smaller in the original chor. but when inside the station the decal is huge. Would that have a difference on the render time? I just don't understand why the inside shot takes longer to render than the out…

I find faceting to take a lot of extra time. Attached is an image of one scene that the customer thinks, looks great. Of course I know it could be a ton better if I had faceted everything. Isn't there an add on to AM that facets shapes for you? What do ya'll think? d

I was just poking around today with decals and how I can use them to breath life into a character. So far, I was able to give my simple "2 patch count" ninja model about five facial expressions, it worked for his eyes so I know it'll work for his mouth phonemes although I didn't bother making them. Just curious in what some of you think about it... quickface.mov

There are many instances in a model, when you could simply stick one object into another to make it look like they are one. Take, for example, a wrought iron fence, or a lever sticking out of a machine. Another good example, intersecting pipes. When would you have to join the CP's and when could you get away with the cheat?

Another quick test with hair ....streaks on the left ...blobbies on the right and gravity changing its mind. Also I peaked all the vertices and got a fanfoldish result Just want to mention that even with all this happening render was much faster than before..although I did simulated the cloth with all the emiters turned off first yeahII.mov

I was rather intrigued by the Loons, so I just had to make one....( the original illustration just didn't do it for me..) I did it with Photoshop. I didn't like the idea of the "warts", but I thought there should be some sort of scar from a puncture wound, so I went with patches, like an old tire, but after he was done I thought of crossed tape, so I put one on his belly. It doesn't say whether or not they wear clothes, so I didn't give him any. I figure with no genetalia or (There's just no delicate way to say it) buttcrack, he shouldn't really look naked, but I had to give him a belly button. Where else would you stick the airhose?

I started out with the easiest thing I could think of.....a ball.... I then thought it would be cool to make an entire set of billiard balls....and viola. I think had the hankering to make a sword and did this. Does anyone have any pointers on how to make the blade look like real metal? I used the "metal" material, but it doesn't seem to work.

I thought I would post this in both the showcase and the compositing forum. I've been working on some effects shots for a short film (56 minutes) Using animation master to animate smoke and shell casings. Though certainly my implementation could probably be improved on it doesn't look bad compared to the relatively dead and inactive look of the shots without any compositing. I run a lip-sync music video class at my kids elementary school. I wanted to have an opener, or whatever you call them, like Disney's castle or Dream Works boy in the clouds. What is that short studio ID bit called anyway? The school is called Charles Dickens and our team mascot is the Dicken's Dragon, so I made our video logo with a fire breathing dragon. The compression makes it look a bit rough. Hello, I started a short film project called Gravity as a new years resolution back in January. I am now continuing the project in Hash from where I left off. I have a storyboard, a story reel, a character design, the actual character model, and the antagonist flying saucer. Neither the model nor the saucer have been converted yet, but I'm going to show them anyway. I'm still very new to Hash, so your crits will be very much appreciated.

Thought I would do another model from 2001 - A Space Odyssey. This time, it is the Aries Lunar Lander that took Heywood Floyd from the Space Station to the moon. I've modeled it once before using a poly program. Now, I am going to do it in A:M. I think this model is going to take a while to do. Been having some problems with my health lately. Nothing too serious, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetic, and a bit of depression from having a cancerous mole taken off my back. It will be called "Robots Robots Robots!" Right now, none of them can change forms, but at some point I'm going to try to make a robot that can transform. Here is a screen capture of my decal when I hit recall position on the stamp under the decal heading. I've read posts that when I hit recall, the stamp is supposed to line up where I had stamped it. In this shot, they obviously don't line up, but when I render on the model, the decal is where it's supposed to be. Note: I did not create a pose when I applied the decal, I did everything in the eaction window per William Sutton. Second note: I did increase the image size in photoshop also as per William Sutton, although I don't know if that has any bearing.
