Hi Gang! I've been pretty quiet around here of late, partly due to this project I've been working on. Animation Master performed beautifully through the duration as usual. Comments are welcome! They will go on the outer packaging of a line of winter toys this winter both in the states and abroad. Snowman, SnowDino, and Snowbear. This is just the characters themselves not the packaging of course. I may be able to post that later actually. Enjoy! -Ethan

Ok here is a very quick animation test of what will hopefully be a stampede of buffalo. Right now everything is in sync but this is just a test of dust kicking up, the render was not a final but shaded with particles. The project Im working on is a music video of a song I wrote with a little help from a friend in the UK. The song titled "Buffalo Song" is about the slaughter of the American Buffalo / Bison. Mov file appx 2 mb P.S. Im looking for a version 13 (and latest release of) of A:M obviously used is fine, I eventually want a collection of ALL A:M releases, even when it was not called A:M.... Thanks, Mike Dust_test_3_Buffalo.mov

Here are two stills from a short film that is slated to be finished by august. It has both live action and 3D. I'll probably post some more about it as it nears completion but I thought it would be nice to show a tiny portion of what Animation Master is doing! -Ethan [attachmentid=17117] [attachmentid=17118]

Finished this up a couple days ago. It's basically a ninja egg dodging a bullet with a backflip. I really wanted to just play around with bullet time and slo-mo. And it was pretty simple character to model and rig. Works pretty good as far as animating goes too. Anyway, just a little contibution to the community. Enjoy. Egg.wmv

Taking a break from my portfolio (well...... I've just been rendering for a week straight now) and I decided to have some fun and try to model for a change. and here's the result.... First Tsurugi For those of you not into Video Games or Anime (I like to hope were all at least into animation here at least ) This is the sword Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7 uses in the CG movie Advent Children. (picture from the movie) Thought it would be something cool to model. I rigged it to work just like the sword in the movie. Six swords combining into one. I posted a quick demo just to give you an idea how the model works. tsword.mov …

Sorry I know it is boring but I wanted a critique before I move on to giving the ball some personality. Any and all opinions welcome. Also, I am using 3% motion blur. What are people's thoughts on MB? When I didn't use any the animation looked kind of "jumpy". When I used more (>5%) parts of the ball looked fragemented. Is it a question of finding just the right %? http://www.youtube.com/user/Pesto642

After completing the Lamborghini Gallardo, I wanted to try another car and hopefully improve on what I learned from the first model. So, here is the start of a 1934 Ford 5 window coupe street rod. And since I needed to start somewhere, I started with the frame. I am hoping to add a full suspension, working doors, windows and full interior. If I get really ambitious, then a fully detailed motor and tranny as well. The body will be left mainly stock in appearance. I figure this is going to be a fairly lengthy project if I can accomplish all I want to. When I model this car, I want to be aware of the splines and patch count, trying to minimize each but still h…

My path seems to have no problems, but my sweep object is causing me fits. I remember there are some objects that sweeper does not like, but I cannot remember what exactly causes sweeper to crash AM? A simple four point patch sweeps fine, but an extruded box is crashing AM every time. I need to use sweeper to dublicate a simple box around an irregular path but so far I only get crashes, even when I delete the box and make a new one, it still crashes. Edit: Well, I narrowed the #001 exception down to the option of using regular steps. When I don't use regular steps, it duplicates fine along the path, otherwise it crashes the program. Is this a bug I should repor…

In a little house by the river lives Platypus....or he might if I get that far The idea's been in my idea's folder for some time, an Australian take on Wind in the Willows. initial sketch and the first start. The tree's from the Hash cd, but since it's one of mine I won't feel guilty. It's a stand-in until I build the cottage and some of the surrounding scene.

Hi, I'm working on a theatre set. The red curtains open. The curtains are animated using cloth simulation in A:M 13. I almost got it nailed, but not entirely. So much parameters, I'm tweaking my ass off. Each time I have to tweak, simulate, tweak, simulate... Is there anybody who knows how to make these curtains move like the real thing? I'll post my curtain-project. It has the animated curtain. Just run the cloth simulation in the chor and see how far I got it. Never mind the missing decals. Please help me make this work. Thanks! I've been focusing on rigging, stylization, particle systems, I thought it was time I concentrate on something new for a while. I decided to try and work on terrain. The first thing that came to mind (for whatever reason) was an oriental mountain top with a small pagoda, a waterfall, and an enlarged looking banzai tree. I modeld and textured the mountain...now I need to find (or make) a pagoda, and somehow a waterfall. If anyone has any suggestions for making a waterfall or has a model of a pagoda that would be great. I doodled a bad drawing to kind of get the idea of the layout. Thanks for yo…

I posted awhile back on a project for a client trying to find out if fluids would work in this animated pooring bottle. It turns out doing the fluid portion of it in flash worked well. The two bottle were modeled and animated in AM and it turned out pretty good. Just thought I would post if anyone was interested in seeing the finished project. Also, wanted to thank everyone who answered my posted questions. Tip and Measure: Multidose Bottle Tip and Measure: Exactdose Bottle Thanks Eric

Hi all, I remember a while ago some people mentioned a simplified figure drawing book (for people like me who can't draw detailed figures yet). I visited the website once and can't remember it now. It shows how to draw "fancy" stick figures for storyboarding purposes. Does anyone remember it? I think you buy the book direct from somewhere in northern CA if that helps. Thanks

I've been tasked with creating several rooms. Here's my first room using AO. Before this project, I've never really used anything but normal lights (I've never used radiosity or AO before). One thing I notice is how grainy the whole thing looks, despite using some okay settings for sampling and passes. Also, it's very bright at the top, which sort of blows out the ceiling area and ceiling fan. I wasn't expecting that. I'm unsure how to make the lighting more even. Any thoughts on how to improve are welcome. Please keep in mind I'm brand-new to AO when you make suggestions. Settings: AO: on No radiosity. No real lights in the scene. ambiance intensi…

Hey, everybody...as my time draws short (1 1/2 weeks) I've been trying to finish all of the things I've wanted to get done. One of those things was going back and cleaning up all of the modeling/animation/lighting errors in my movie Well...it turns out that I only had time to correct 1 shot and I chose the one that I felt had the best overall animation. there he comes... finally... the first of maybe a few shorts of "RUBBERGUY - TRAINING LESSONS FOR UPCOMING SUPERHEROES" (i know i forgot the "e" in heroes in the trailerscreen, will be fixed...) the idea was to make a squetch-rigged character (my first one with that rig so far) that can extremely bend (that´s his superpower ). i always wanted to make that kind of squetchy moves but never knew how to make that until i found the squetch-rig, thanks to all the guys who were involved developing it. then i remembered the sportgoofy-clips where goofy does different sport-disciplines and sucks at all. and i thought: "hey, why don´t you do that sort of thing with your chara…

Hi, I just wanted to drop a quick note about a short film production I'm currently working on with a buddy (I'm waiting on a render). The film is called "Lost Hallway". I'm handling CG and compositing for it. It's a very green-screen heavy job with a very tight deadline. I'm using Animation Master 15 for the CGI and Eyeon Vision for keying and compositing. The pipeline is Sony HD video camera at 60i to Avid, then export of each shot to individual TIFF files, which are then scaled down by Vision to make rotoscope images for loading into AM15. Modeling and rendering is done in AM, and animated to match the actresses (we used green screen tracking markers to get re…

Hey everyone, I went out and got a new PSP game called Patapon. It's another fun, stylized game from Japan Studio. Playing it and looking at the 2D stylization got me thinking. "I wonder if I could make a 2D animation in A:M. Of course it's simple in Toon Render but I mean actually 2D. So I made a model of a Patapon off the top of my head. Everything is going smoothly so far but if anyone has any suggestion or ideas feel free. I attached some pictures of the project. ( I'm also working on TAO of A:M on the side lines; only four more lessons left. Thanks for your…

I actually modeled these about a month ago, but with getting involved in TWO, I really put thes aside to work on the film and other stuff. I still have to decal the shutle cockpit, but for the most part am pretty happy with how these came out. I would love to go back and remodel each piece with beveled edges and maybe someday I will, but for now here they are: ARC-170 Fighter Imperial Shuttle TIE Intercepter X-wing As usual crits and comments are welcome. They do seem like they are floating above the ground plane, but they are really sitting on it.

I'm working on a still, not an animation. I double checked, and there is no change over time in this still. All I am trying to do is render a semi realistic pine branch in a scene. Since I want to smooth the whole scene out, I'm initially using a 9x pass. The problem is the pine branch. There is obviously something going on that is causing this, I'm just not seeing what I'm doing wrong. Compare this to a TWO scene with a pine tree that has no blurring, but I bet it does have multipass? There is no motion blur or focal length change in the camera setting. Edit: After playing around with the hair material and not getting anywhere, I deleted it and created a…

Hello, I started a short film project called Gravity as a new years resolution back in January. I am now continuing the project in Hash from where I left off. I have a storyboard, a story reel, a character design, the actual character model, and the antagonist flying saucer. Neither the model nor the saucer have been converted yet, but I'm going to show them anyway. I'm still very new to Hash, so your crits will be very much appreciated.

Since it was a test animation for a bigger project, I may not do any more tweaks, but I would love suggestions to make the real thing the best it can be. Thanks. Justin NanoWar2.mov
