GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!

-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

I am working on this tutorial and one thing I notice is that the mouth doesn't close after talking (during the pauses of the sentence). I notice on a lot of the examples that it does close. Can some one please share the "secret" with me (I promise I can keep it ) on how to make the mouth close? It looks much more natural when his mouth closes when he is not talking. Thank you.

OK, I ordered A:M over a week ago and my credit card has been charged, yet the status of my order is still listed as "processing". I've sent 3 e-mails in the last 48 hours yet none have been answered or even acknowledged. If you try calling the number listed on the website, you get a recording saying the number is "temporarily unavailable", and it's been that way for at least the last two days. Does anybody know what's up? Has anybody else had problems contacting the company? If anybody from Hash monitors this forum WILL YOU PLEASE CONTACT ME REGARDING MY ORDER.

its been a while since I've used this program i modelled and rigged this thing myself about a dinosaur age ago but can't for the life of me figure out what i did in order to build this thing when i take it into the coreography and move it around it looks like its got some kind of cloth modifier on the skirt but when i go in and check the thing, i can't find anything on it. i can't find any cloth modifier on it or anything so im not sure whats going on with this thing, why is it doing what its doing feed back is appreciated rai.zip

I was watching the "Flower Power" tutorial, and noted that the leaves were intentionally not connected via splines to the stem. Rather, they were just positioned adjacent and bones were used to constrain the movement so the leaves would position appropriately. When and when not should you attach various parts of a model to each other by splines? Is there a general principle to use? What are the advantages and disadvantes of attaching vs free floating? -SB

I've just installed AM 15.0 from a CD. I started reading the manual, wishing to learn the ropes, and one of the first steps is to find a model in the Library. But I have no models in the Library! The tabs are certainly there, for Models, Action, Materials, etc. But there's nothing inside any of the sub-libraries. I checked my CD (or is it a DVD?), and in a folder called 'Data', I can see all of these Libraries, lots of models and actions and so forth in there. I re-installed AM once again. Same result. Nothing put into the Libraries. This is a Mac OSX version. I'm running Leopard. Can anyone help me with this? All I want to do is get started, and I c…

Hi, I was wondering If somebody can tell me where can I find the Models Dex and Lambrina. okay i have a flattened model that i'm looking to apply decals to. is there some kind of website i can find skin textures for A:M (i know Poser has a website called content paradise that lets you download xtra stuff into it's program so i was wondering about A:M). Or do you generally have to make this type of thing? I don't know how to make good looking skin though... i have Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7, and i was thinking i could make it in there, but i'm not sure how. it generally has the same effects as any other paint program so what effects do you guys use to make skin? i think there was a tutorial, but i can't remember where it was. -hisako

Hi everyone, I discovered A:M in its v7 and there, I founded a render property called oversample wich rendered the frames ad double of more size for scaling them down later in order to remove aliased borders and other artifacts from decals and etc... Now, in v12 I've lost this oversampling option. Is it hidden in another place of the program or it has simply be removed in favour of multipass? I've been trying to use multipass but more the passes are, more the general blur in the image and it doesn't involve neccesarily a better look of my render... more of this aliased borders still appear, but softened. I can't find the serial number for my software. I opened the software the other day when I got it in the mail before I discovered I couldn't use it until I got this computer. I looked through the manual and the CD's and looked on the box, but I didn't see it anywhere. I tried calling for support, but apparently I couldn't get a person on the phone. Do I need to email them to ask for my serial number, or is it with the software somewhere?

Alright, Thank you so much for the quick replies on my last post. I appreciate it. So I get the program up and running with no problems. But for some reason when the program starts up I am not seeing the camera view. My BattleMech model has three two-jointed "toes". When the foot pedestal rises, the "toes" should flex downward. And when the foot is planted they should return. Each joint has a bone. I am looking for someway to "flex" just one "toe" and have the others follow. Which constraint would accomplish this? Is there some other "easy" way? Thanks.

I've been working on a movie and decided it was time to animate the scenes. Unfortunately, I can't continue unless I know some kind of software that gives me high-quality scene combiners. Whenever I use Windows Movie Maker for combining scenes, the quality is really bad and I don't want it that way. I was hoping for a software that could allow me to finalize my movies in quicktime. I have the Eddie model in a model window. In the PWS, I open the Splines group and click on a spline (Spline #....). I would expect to see the corresponding spline in the geometry highlighted, but don't. I then click a CP in the geometry, which I'm not sure if selects a spline? (green highlight on part of the spline). I would expect to see the spline, or the CP, highlighted in the PWS, but don't. ... Ok, I now see that clicking on a named group will highlight that group of CPs in the geometry. I would just expect clicking on a spline in the PWS would also highlight the spline, and vice versa selecting the spline in the geometry would highlight th…

Hi - can anyone suggest how to set up a solid white background in a choreography? I tried doing a white floor and setting the camera background as white, but the floor had a lot of brown to it. I also created a ramp model w/ a slight curvature in the back (like a skateboard ramp), but I don't think I have the lighting right - I have been experimenting around w/ putting lights here and there, but can't seem to get it to look really good. I am rendering a scene with 2 models and a targa imported as a layer in a choreography. The tga image appears with a "white" outline when rendered. I have edited the image in photoshop, making sure all of the edges of the image are black, and included an alpha channel and played with the layer's options settings - "flat shaded", "occlusion", etc. - but the white outline continues to render. The image I've attached is a render using the"white render" settings I just found in another post in these forums (very beautiful, soft rendering style! - thanks, Jason!), but this "white outline/edge" I'm describing appears on the targa no matter what rendering options I choose. I want to make a background so it looks as if my character is in a white box. I want there to be white walls on the sides, one white wall in the back, and a white floor. Hello, I'm new to A:M (Well in fact I used ist 10 years ago - but the times they are changing...) I have a very easy question but somehow I don't get it. I want to make some simple animation, with a black figure on a white ground. So the figure is black and everything around her is white. but of course I want to see the schadows of the figure.
