GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

Hi Everyone, I just recieved my software today. I installed it on my c:/ drive. The problem is that each time I start the program, it asks the disk to be loaded. I thought I saw this earlier, but I can't seem to find it when I searched. Thanks for your help... Regards, Bob

i m making a pose for the eye lid. in my character, the eye lid it not attached to the model as a continuos spline. but i just fixed it to the model and attached it witH the bone as a floating patch. After making the pose it worked as in the relationship window that is eye lid open and close, but it didnot work in the action window, what can i do to correct the malfunnction.

I'm back. Bought A:M at Siggraph in 2006 and started then. Now I am back giving it another shot and more time. I do have some selfish reasons for restarting my A:M education as I need to create some FX for a short I'm working on and the 2D aspect of AE is killing me. I'll be stiching together a 3D face of one of my actresses (like the girraffe tutorial) and using it as a base for some 3D sludge that comes out of her pores. Wish me luck. I was just rereading some of the posts and It still seems to be a friendly place. One quick question, Will I have better luck using the newer version or will the 2006 version serve my purposes untill I can upgrade? …

I know this has been covered before, I just can't find the post. I want to make a brick wall, which I know I can use a decal. However I want to add a bump map or material to make the wall look more textured. Wasn't there a post about this? So what will give the best result.... just a decal, a bump map, or just a material. In earlier versions of AM ( V8) it was possible to specify Black and White as the output of the render then that began to change with V9 and V10, when it became necessary to treat it as a post render treatment. I am using V15 to redo an old project for a competition but I can't find where the BW option is, could anyone kindly explain where it is and how to use it? regards simom

Please help...Just starting w/ AM switching over from Poser and found Animation Master to be wonderful but I need help...I have done all the tutorials that come in the book but I am looking to create still images of comic characters and would like to know how to apply clothing to a model like "Dex" that is already in the library. Hi, The manual seems to indicate that is possible to import an animated gif file and use it as a decal. Whenever I try to import such a gif file, either through "Import Image/Animation" or "Import Image/Sequence", and click the "Import as a sequence of images", I'm told that it is an "Invalid gif file." What I am trying to do is to import a 4-frame animated gif and apply it as a decal to a model (in this case, a playing card) and when rendered, have the animated gif play as the card moves. Is this possible? thanks...

ok iv finished a few models but theres currently a little grey, know i have found quite a few mat files that have some cool effects though it seams to take 3-5 mns just to render a singal frame , my question is is there any way to speed this up so that say 5 mins of film dose not take 3 years to render

Ok heres my deal, i use a program to extract a model from a game , the program saves it into a format usable by a program called 3d studio max, when it loads into max the models akin to perfect , ie surfaces are nice , colors are accurate, and hey there are even textures , now when i save the model in a format usable by AM ".3ds" it loads in about 1 min and as said above looks like it went through a blender , the main form is still there but thats about all that there is , also i will try and upload a pic soon as due to a system change i currently cant access AM

In the project I'm working on, I want to set up a follow spot for the figure as it leaps about. I tried to set up an aim at constraint on the spotlight body but it didn't seem to follow the target, even though that was selected under properties. Could someone kindly explain how to achieve this? Hey, kids-- I'm slogging my way through the rigging tutorial in David Rogers' book. After you rig one leg, it says to copy the pelvis-down hierarchy, select those, enter scale mode, and scale them -100% in the x-axis to flip 'em. That's no problem with CPs, but all of the scale boxes for bones stay grayed out, and I can't figure out how to get them active. I can scale those bones using the scale manipulator in the modeling window, but obviously that is imprecise, and I can't flip them on the x-axis that way. What am I doing wrong? Thanksh--

Hello - I am making a walk cycle for a new character I created and I am trying to "copy" and "paste mirrored" frames, but for some reason it isn't copying and pasting part of it - from the "hip bone" up - so Hips, head, back, and back 2. Any ideas on why? Thanks - Eric

Having initially had problems with sound files ( thankfully fixed due to forum users advice ) I have completed the animation first part of a little project I'm working on and want to fine tune it using the f curves ( ?). I'm not sure if that is the correct term for them ? What I mean is the way of changing the curve that flows through the timeline to affect the interpolation method of the keyframes set. To get a hold, constant speed or the normal spline. im trying to make a mech of sorts and as you know they usualy are not very curvy. how do i make a sharp edge on a model with out it turning into a black brick this is the best i can get but there are still distortions in the back , alos the have been black blob things as well any help would be most apreceated ow the only way i managed to do this is to set inmagnitude and outmagnitude to 2%

I know you can IMPORT into your current choreography, another choreography from the Project Workspace I know that a choreography can be exported as an .mdl file. I know that I should be able to import a .cho file into my project. I just don't know how to EXPORT a .cho file out of a choreography in a project so I can get it into a different project. Let`s say you have applied a decal to some patches and lateron you have changed the patches and added some cps. Do you have to apply the decals a new always in any case or is there a possibility to include the cps into the existing stamp afterwards so that the whole decal is showing up again?

Hey people. I need help with a project in V 10.5 I got an idea of trying to make an animation that looks like a child's drawing with stick figures and such, and I was wondering how you guys think I should do the surfaces. The idea for the project is that I was going to start it with a zoom in of a simple drawing on a fridge door. On the one hand, a common-sense answer would be 'a lot', but often in these matters, the intuitive answer is not how it really is. I'm staggering along with a mere half-Gig of RAM. I'm trying to render a camera view with a solid white background and for some reason it's not working. All I can render is a black background no matter what I set the camera background to. I've also changed the codec to none to check if the problem is compression. It still renders black. I'm thinking there's another setting that I need to set. Can anyone tell me how to make this work? Ok so i subscribed to version 15 for 50 bucks, but then i got version 15, put the activation code in and tried to run animation master, but strangeley, a lot didnt show up, a lot of actions werent there, a lot of folders werent even there in the library under models, there was no props folder a lot others, ill get a pic

OK as many of you know i import models from 3dmax (game 3d designer) to work with them in AM , this however has a effect similar to a blender as 3D uses polygons while AM uses splines , and during the conversion process AM assigns splines based on the polygons points and while the outcome resembles the original models it does have the aforementioned blendered effect. one thing that might help clean it up would be the ability to select several current CPs and then make a line between them automatically possible removing the previous line segments. is there a hot key command or something of the such that will do this or will i need to use the old fashioned manual method?

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have been using Animation master for 2 years. I recently lost my A:M cd while traveling. I have my serial number but can't start the program because, as you all know, you need to have the cd in the drive in order to start. My question is as follows: Is there any file or anything that I can download that will get AM to start even without the cd? Or is there any way to get the cd using my serial # ? I just noticed this: When I open the Libraries of A:M v15 (web), I can't find any primitives-objects... am I just blind? In v8-v14 they where available, so they should be included here to. Even so it is only a small collection, this is missing in a 3d-programm. *Fuchur*

First test And second test that i've done whiles half asleep (not a good idea as you will see the thing that went wrong) Holding test: found the timeline to make it all work this time. lighting test and camera control test, again half asleep. Camera control, edit, one sound, pause and movement test.(before i went to bed) The one second front n rear punch in the dark.
