This is my last casino xmas card because I am going to retire in a couple of days. Partly drawn and partly maded in A.M.. I hope to be able to spend more time to A.M. and drawing in general in the near future. I wish you all a fantastic and healthy 2015 ! Marc.

Does anyone have a Thom Model or anything with the 2001 rig constrained to the basic BVH motion data? Constraining a character to BVH data has been on my list of things to do for quite awhile now and since I haven't got around to doing it yet I'm hoping someone already has one set up and ready to go. I'll post any Actions I modify from the BVH data to the 2001 rig in the A:M Exchange forum. Now that Robert has clued me into Baking Actions as a means to reduce the complexity of animation I'm all set to do some pose ripping. Alternately, if anyone has any character constrained to BVH data I'd be interested in testing that too.

I've often made use of the ability to hide CP's in the object so they don't show in the cho when animating, hiding the rest of the body when checking two figures hand positions in a dance sequence for example. I wondered if there was a way to set that up using pose sliders so as to get a timelapse effect ? What I want to do is to hide parts of a house and have them revealed over time so as to get a time lapse effect. It would be possible to do it with iterated models, substituted as the the chor progressed (?) but I wondered if it was possible to hide the cps viapose sliders or another mechanism ? simon

Hello. Me again. Was looking through the wiki area for the Tinman movie and was a bit bummed out to find that many of the links which seem like they should link to background info about them, instead just drop me off in the forums. Is this information stored elsewhere, or has it been lost or orphaned over time? For example, Nimmie Amee's entry looks like there should be some great "making of" type material, but none of those links lead to that content. Very interesting looking character, too. Hi, I want to know more about the pros and cons of embedding resources in a project (and therefore embedding in the chor). For myself, I have since my own 'dawn of time' with A:M embedded everything, always. Why? Dependability and minimizing loss is always my first priority. And, probably around 10 years ago I started embedding everything for that reason alone--I seemed to have less problems doing it this way. Part of this was that separating the current ongoing work from the resources I had on disk isolated and protected those resources. I ran into situations where A:M crashed, my PC crashed, there was a power outage, I screwed things up and could not undo…

Hi, another question for you. I've been using the 2005 XP version of AM since well ..... 2005 lol. It's treated me well and I really have no complaints about it ... other then the typical slow rendering and not being able to use it on a new computer. The question is whether I should buy the newest version? I looked at the Hash website and the program looks basically the same. Are there enough upgrades and improvements to make it worth it for a casual user? I'm kind of cheap and don't want to buy it unless it's really worth it 🤔. Also, are the models I've created with my 2005 version compatible with the newest version or would I have issues? Thanks in advance…

I have a memory (quite possibly faulty ) of seeing an option for setting the colour of toon lines as a % of the underlying colour, but can't seem to find it. I can find the option to colour the lines and so can set it to the diffuse values but not the %. Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction, or the memory error ? I wondered if, using a % the colour of the line would vary as the area moved in and out of shadow. In the toon render options there is a tonal scale which allows you to set small tags along it which appears to compress the band widths of the tones in the scale(?) Is there a way to control the tonal range into narrow, definable bands, eg 16 or 12 or is it a case of adjusting the tags until the desired result is obtained ? Not sure if others have this but when I make a material transparent, it doesn't display transparent. Might be my quadro card, not sure. Basically I have to keep hiding the underlying mesh that I am doing a retopo to see where my patches are. Any tips?

I put in a trial request, sent off my host id etc, a few days ago but haven't heard back. I've bought a Windows tablet with a Wacom Digitizer for drawing and working on when I'm not at my main computer. Photoshop works great on it and I've seen a video of somebody using Z-Brush on it but I know A:M doesn't always play nice with Intel onboard graphics and want to test it before I get a license. I'm gonna be on a plane for 7 hours this coming Saturday so was hoping to tool around on A:M during the flight.

Hi - I'm trying to get my trial version A:M v.18 up and running on my Macbook Pro OS 10.9.4. I followed all of the download instructions in the email I received from Hash accepting my request, renamed the downloaded license "master0.lic" per the instructions, and placed it into the folder next to the application, yet when I try to open A:M, I'm greeted with a dialog box requesting an Activation Key. I have been using A:M15j on an older Mac and want to try the newest version of A:M on new hardware before I decide to buy. Can someone please advise me how to address this issue. I've contacted tech support by email and tried by phone, both to no avail. Thank you.

Hey Everyone; I know I have said this before but I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. I have one more test for my job in the next few weeks, then a 2 month break. It does not look like work will slow down any time soon but I'm going to they to put more time Into Hash, Inc. Since the break from testing will free up some time. Here is what is on the list now. Just enter a thickness the book says. Did that and nothing shows up on the thickness timeline as in the book. Trying to get the hair emitter to taper the thickness over the length of the hair to a point. What am I doing wrong (again)???? I was wondering if there was a plug-in that would create a halfway point spline ring between two spline rings. In other words, if I were to have two spline rings that are too far apart. Is there a way that I could select both and then have a new spline ring that would appear halfway between them and also tween the shape (like Flash does)? I tend to start on the low end as far as splines when I'm modeling and add more as I need to. I sometimes realize I need that extra spline ring, but manually adding CPs between them doesn't always give the result I want. Especially since I avoid using the bias handles.

Have been trying to revamp the model so I could finish the animation. Not sure if its complete yet ( he looks too old ? ) but, saved the iteration and fully installed the 2008 rig, as per the instructions, then tested it with the previous animation, with the following painfull result. This is what it looked like before And these are the same frames but with the new model Can anyone kindly suggest where I should look for the fault ? Thank you for your help. Surprisingly, there wasn't, and so I thought I'd come here and make a post about it. Is there a reason why particle sprites don't show up in Render Lock Mode (shiftQ) but their shadows do? And how much memory can A:M use in the Mac version? I have 8GB but A:M never seems to use more than 1 or maybe 2 at most. After what seems like only an hour or two trying to work with the Rear Window set things really start to bog down. Edit: OK ignore that last bit about the set. I'v deactivated and/or hidden as many of the set models as possible and things are running much better now. I just have to remember to turn them all back on again when it comes time to finally render!

I was experimenting with saving an image series as an uncompressed AVI and I noticed that the brightness and contrast in the avi was different than the original frames. So I cooked up a grayscale test pattern, gray scale frame.tga. I made 30 sequentially numbered copies and saved them as an uncompressed avi (gray_scale_01.avi attached). Then I did a screen grab of the video on VLC. That screen grab is shown in the lower half of the attached comparison image...obviously something has changed. Hi there, working quite a while with A:M, I noticed that there is quite some areas where undo will not work at all. First and foremost if you make changes to the bias handles of a CP, Undo will not take those changes made back. Also when you work on a model with a Decal applied. If you delet something, take the changes back with undo, the undo will not restore the deleted and restored CP in the stamps. Cheers Heiner

Been a while since I used AM but don't remember the undo not working if i rotate, scale or do any transform on an object in the chor. Anyone else having this issue? I have a simple installation guide on a product install that I want to use the toon render in AM rather than fight FormZ's retarded renderer that will not turn off the F@#$!!!! Proving my modeling skills have room for improvement I am making a unicycle and wondered if anyone had suggestions as to how to set it up for animation afterwards ?. Still over producing splines at the moment but hope to try it out tomorrow. I made the transition to WIn10 on my PC at the beginning of June and installed A:M ver.18.0m shortly there after. I've had almost no teething problems for the last two weeks but this occurred after yesterdays' Windows update which may just be a coincidence. This is a screen grab of a realtime render and a good approximation of a final render. This is a screen render in Render Lock mode. This is a screen render in Render mode. I upgraded my Nvidia graphics drivers and re-installed ver. 18.0m without solving the problem. This doesn't happen in ver. 17. I see that Hash Reports is currently broken so I'm open to suggestions.

Having a spot of bother with V17g under OSX 10.85 Several things really. If I do a test render, I get a little window offering up a composite. Must have turned something on by mistake, but don't know what ? That was irritating before but, now its giving me the composite window but not rendering the file requested. I had let my version 16 expire back in november and had to use my version 12 cd version these past few months . So I had forgotten how nice 16 was. Today I finally got version 17 and have to say --wow its so much nicer than 12 --by light years. ANd renders seem faster than 16 . The render speed seems very fast indeed. My only thoughts for anyone with 12 or older for sure ....just toss that aside and upgrade asap ----you will be very happy indeed . Its AM yummyiness. Nice job developer(s). Smiles . Although I have Amv16 updated to v17 I have another error. It's not this version, but the earlier versions. You can ask why I want them both, but lots of files are twitched in versions. After installing Am v.11 I can update to v.12. When I do so, the the program bumps telling the disk isn't in the cdrom. Of course It is version v11 in the cdrom, but what is stopping the update? I thought it would be updated with the old disk in the cdrom. Also the update wants files from the ftp site, but that fails. It seems the site isn't there anymore, so how can I obtain these files? regards

Hello friends, with some delay, here is the video for use with 3DCoat AM. very simple and mostly it works. With 3DCoat, I found a way to paint objects and have maps without having to worry about the UV problems. Any use perpixel. 3DCoat all tools can be used for AM. for convenience, I made a video that shows how to do it. I used this method for my wolf. I'm adding this topic because I'm sure to forget exploring it further... Filters are very useful for quickly finding resources in the Project Workspace (PWS). Also very useful is that we can save those Filters in the Project File. Inside the file itself (the text of the file that is) filters appear as in the following: Name=Filter for Models Model At least initially the order of the list is by order of how the resource is opened in the file so it can be handy to have some filters open as assets are added into a Project. Hello, Do you have on youtube (or other), a simple example of UV unfolding with a cube? I understood a procedure but I am not sure: 1 - Create groups 2 - create poses where we unfold these groups 3 - Grabbing the unfolding screen 4 - create your UV from the grab 5 - place the image as a decal on the "open" pose. 6 - remove the pose so that the character returns to its initial shape. I purchased the V12.0n disk back in '06 and used it frequently. when trying to install the program on my laptop the program does not launch from the disk. troubleshooting says its not compatible. I have run the setup and installer run multiple compatibility modes and run as admin per the recommendations of the troubleshooter but no luck. any steps forward or am i locked out here?
