Hi everyone, this is a model of my friend Jane that I’ve been working on for about a month. (on and off, most of the time smoothing) Any comments? I’m having trouble with the cheeks and some 5-point patches around the eyes. Any feedback that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and happy holidays to all! :-)

Hey everyone, sorry about the last post that only 3 people were able to view, this one will be much better. So, this is my first run at entering the 10 second club animation contest (www.10secondclub.net) and I've already got some feed back from a couple people on weight shifts at the end, but please watch it and give me some replies on what I can improve. Thanks a million!

Hi there. This is not really a WIP, just my first attemt at animating. I know it is not that great (and there are many problems, including the right shoulder on the follow through, sliding on the ground, etc.), but just wondering if I can get some comments. Thanks, Logan H. Here are the Links: Front View Left Angle From Above

This is som'thin i've been working on for the past few days (11 hours in fact) from scratch to final render. The lighting came together pretty quick too. The main thought behind it is that the more technology progresses the more popple become trapped in an in-escapable cage. This picture was meant to depict the vast empty feeling one should get when faced with the slavery of technology. But other than that it was done for fun. See in it what you want. And if Far Star sees this, I would like to enter this into a portfolio to show my lighting and camera skills. If you need someone else on the team that is. There's still more to come on this theme too.

(oh, that thingy there is a headband, not the hair line or anything, should prolly give it some more color) http://www.streamload.com/roughy/sayoround1.mov i could have revived the old thread but...didnt feel like searching for it. gotto go Zzz....

Here's a cat I've been working on. He'll be looking as real as I can do. He's just being made down to his skin right now so try to picture him with some hair. Also the shinyness is just so I can see lumps better to work them out. It'll be taken off in the end. Any critiques are welcome.

I finally got my 15-year old reel back from the guy who transformed it to a DVD-ROM AVI for me. Let me just say that upon further review - this isn't as good as I remember! Anyway, I promised I would post it so here it is. I did this in 1990 in my senior year at Columbia. I do remember it being a lot of work, the total time of actual animation is about 17 seconds, BUT much of it is reused/flipping cels and so forth to avoid doing too much work so the piece suffers from that. The actual animating of the duck is not too good either! But it was fun - and a lot of work - to do. In 15 years the film really suffered pretty bad. The color is all washed out and the…

Well gang, I tried but I didn't quite finish it in time (yes I could technically work on it tonight but I wouldn't have enough time to do a good render) I'm going to work on the image some more anyway and finish it in my leisure time so I can enjoy the experience instead of rushing and not being happy about it. Still in the progress of rigging her so I can pose her, and she still needs decals (everything there now is 100% procedurals)... and I had grander plans for the textures in the background that I had abandoned to finish in time for the contest but that I will do now since I don't have a deadline. Oh... and that firestand won't be floating in midair... it'll gets …

Heylo guys, I crafted this overnight and thought I might aswell show it to the world, so here goes. Had to use dr. divx to make it small and had to put it on Ftp to be able to "distribute" it. I used Thom and starwarsguys lightsaber in this flick. Link: www.jftp.frac.dk/ThomGoesPro.avi PS: I know his legmovement sucks, but this ain't the final version. I keep trying to render a new, tweaked version, but for some reason it renders in a really crappy quality, even though I'm using the same codecs, settings etc. etc.

Here is a sample clip I am working on of the SS Cedric sailing past. I have a PS filtered version with grain and more contrast to simulate a newsreel look, but am having difficulty compressing the final version without the compressor having trouble with the grain effect, any one got any ideas for a work around? The unfiltered version is here for any who want to have a look, it is .wmv format, 519kb. http://www.dsntc.com/SS_Cedric/Cedric.html Ian

Here is little something I found out looking through my hard drive. For obvious reasons his name is Mikke Musse This is 30's version of the character that I really like, except for the eyes whish have lids... This character was made as modeling and constraining exercise, He has old rig inside him, and dos not have phonemes or other muscle poses, you will have to pull the constraints slider to constrain him... I Hope that you'll like Mike I would be very glad to see if anyone comes out with something funny and cute with him, and if someone decides to pop in TSM 2 rig inside, I wouldn't mind to have it for playing. Here it is (MDL) Drvarc…

So, has anyone figured out cloth yet? I have an animation to finish off for someone else and cloth is holding me up right now. I don't want to spend too much longer messing with it to hopefully discover the magic formula. I have made a simple test object with a cape and tested cloth sim in A:M versions 10.5, 11.0t and 11.1f. I still can't get collision detection to work. Any clues? This is pretty urgent! In the attached movie the top two tests are done in 10.5 and 11.0t. The bottom two are both in 11.1f. As you can see collision detection doesn't appear to be working. Does anyone have it working?

I posted my dice character earlier. I now have a walk cycle for him. I tried constructing it three different ways. First, I tried starting with the down positions, then the contact positions. My final try was starting with the hip up and down motion and then going back to the beginning and, starting with the contact positions, went straight ahead. I liked this one the best. None of them were hard to put together, but I attribute that to A:M's great tools rather than my skill. I am posting my last effort. All comments and crits (of the work, not my religious or political beliefs) welcome! Scott Dice_Walk.mov

Greetings, This isn't the image quality generally enjoyed on this forum, but since it's my first A:M model to make it from point A to repository, I'm pointing it your way. The video is 22+M, and I'm unable to crank out another version. Hopefully it is a generally viewable codec. I know the deer is on the large size, but remember the camera adds 20 lbs and small objects tend to disappear in the simulator (strictly a visual thing, no alien technology involved). My thanks to the creator of the horse model on the v10 CD - this would have been a longer road without that leg up. deer walking

Hi everyone. I saw the running trex animation. very cool. I was fooling around with this trex model i had downloaded awhile back. I took the original rig out and put in the tsm2 rig. I used the weightmover on the neck to the tail and put in the cog system on the thighs. I only got to put in about 5 hours on the animation but the tsm2 rig works awesome. the animation is still very rough and has no secondary action yet, but it has some potential. this is my first animation that I have posted on the forum. This file is divx and may not work with all browsers. let me know if there is problems. this was 10 seconds and I only have 10 meg…

I wanted to make a character on which I could use SimCloth. So here she is. I'm really unhappy with the head, though. There seems to be a wealth of things I don't yet know about the face and head. This one's an improvement over other faces I've modeled but I still can't get away from this gaunt, sunken look. I'm also working on ways to make the clothes more interesting (texturing and such). I decided to do a little test to see how the rig works. As you can see there are a few problems. Though I'm sure it's do to my bad modelling. -The arms really need work -The shoes go through the pants - The pants go through the shirt The shoes twist at akward angles The knees twist argh back to the drawing board As you can also see. I didn't try for realistic movement. I was trying to show where it messed up. Now he looks like he belongs in the matrix rig_test.mov

I started out with the easiest thing I could think of.....a ball.... I then thought it would be cool to make an entire set of billiard balls....and viola. I think had the hankering to make a sword and did this. Does anyone have any pointers on how to make the blade look like real metal? I used the "metal" material, but it doesn't seem to work.

Just a mirror of the Water splashing thread on the main A:M forum, to allow me to post a QuickTime. This is a really fast and crude demo, but the blue patches are just small 2x2 grids and the cyan objects are spheres with the tops & bottoms truncated (have to do that, otherwise SimCloth tells you it's unsolvable.) Obviously, the model & SimCloth parameters would have to be tweaked to allow the "drops" to deform more naturally, but it looks like the idea of using SimCloth to simulate water might just be doable after all. I've been working on a three minute short for our booth at a trade show next week. My attempts at rendering have all failed, both rendering a QT movie and Targa files. I'm open to suggestions at least in theory but time is extremely short. I'm going to set up a render to an .avi file and let it run overnight. Tomorrow morning I'll know if it's been successful. But I need a backup plan. My back is seriously to the wall and if anyone with rendering facilities can help out a fellow hasher in his time of need, this is the time! I'm flying out of Charlotte NC Sunday night the 11th but I need to have it in time to finish up the sound. It's now 10pm Tuesday i…

Hallo und Willkommen to my first ever render with A:M version 12. It's a grand piano, and it's a very dynamic caustic/radiosity/ratrace picture! and even better... i made it a stereo, bacause... they're just so dang awesome. Let me know what you guys think, and feel free to give any suggestions about the picture. I love modeling objects more than people... i wonder why? lol Does anyone know what happend to the anti-alies control in rendering? My piano stereo is divoide of smooth edges! Hi Guys, I would like to share something that I have currently in the works. The head is complete, but I am still working on the body. The Greaseman is based on a real Disc- Jocky from DCRadio700. http://www.greaseman.org I've been listening to him for years and he's really funny. I hope to create some animated shorts based on his radio sketches. [attachmentid=9731][attachmentid=9732] -Edit--- This is the Front and Side Profiles that I drew. I based it on some photographs that were available on the Greaseman site. [attachmentid=9730] Cheers, Rebecca

This is my rendition of the New NASA moon rocket. The idea came from the NASA website under the heading "How we'll return to the moon." It's very informative with a great animation. Some of you may wish to check it out. As far as my model uis concerned it's patch intensive (Slightly more than 7500) and my computer is slowing down. I'll have to find a way around that beause it's hardly finished. Ed
