Finally got some time to give the NIXUS a try. Thought I would start with the rear tire and rim. C&C always welcome. Is there a way to update an action in a chor without removing it and then re-applying it? Whenever I make a change to an action that has already been applied to a model in a chor, I have to remove the action and then re-apply the changed action for it to take effect. Hitting the spacebar or saving the project does not update the changes to the chor. Is there an easier way or is that it?

So here's the story... I do these play posters for my brother's community theater down in VA. The latest one is one of my favorites, Deathtrap. So I had originally planned to just do the whole concept for the poster using photoshop and royalty free images from my photo CDs. However during the layout and research stage I totally goofed up. I needed a pair of vintage handcuffs (if you know the play you know why) for the title on the poster. I found the perfect pair... ON THE FREAKING WEB! I used the darn thing through the whole creation all the way to the final and had completely forgotten it was a copyrighted image and I really couldn't legally use it. It was sor…

I rendered out a 10 second clip to TGA in HDTV-1080 format. This is for the Challenger flyby, so much of the scene is on a black background. The render went fine, but when I try to import the sequence back into AM I get into trouble. There are 300 TGAs. If I select them all at once to import, AM give me a message saying "too many files selected at once." If I select 50 at a time, I can get around 200 loaded and then I start getting blank TGAs imported or #011 errors, and sometimes the fatal #001 shutdown. I have a 2.66 GHz CPU with 1.5 GB of ram. Is this an AM issue or a memory related issue? Anyone else ever try an import of TGAs of that length in 1080 form…

How does one animate the effect of fog rolling in from the camera's settings in the choreography. A:M seems to only want to give me fog from the render settings, which as far as I understand can't be animated. I would like to get the "before" and "after" effect as seen from these two images. Thanks for your help!

I have a main object that has an action that adds several other ojects to it in the chor. Now I want to control the ambient intensity in a pulsating fashion of one of the action objects (call it OX) being added. So I made a percentage pose with OX and adjusted the ambience from 0 to 100 with a pose slider. This is where I'm stuck - when I open the main object in the chor and click the OX action object, there is no pose slider to manipulate, even though I have the drivers icon unchecked. If I add the OX object to the chor by itself, the pose slider is there and works fine. When the OX object is added to the main object via the action, I can't find a way to access the …

I added a shrimp to the Fish Animation. [a bit hard to see in this frame, but...] It was hard to align on a Path, so I slaved it to a Null and dragged the Null across the scene. After rendering the scene out, I added six more and translated them all to the same Null. But only the first seems to want to move. For this iteration, I'll add more Nulls, but for the future, can a Null control more than one object?

Hello Hashers, Since I thought it would be a good idea to at least get semi-reaquainted with A:M during the night, I decided to create something I'd seen on TV. So what better then a simple character like Elemental Hero Clayman, from some TV show I can't remember the name of on CN. I didn't exactly recreate the character, but seeing as I had nothing but a free hand to go by, I'm averagely pleased with the result. Now, I have no, and I mean none whatsoever, competance within the field of rigging. I tried one, failed, tried again, failed, tried a thrid time while reading the tutorial word by word... I guess it's not in my blood, not that modeling seems to be eithe…

As it stands, I added 10 key frames to a clip, one every second, and alternated 0 and 100% for the ambiance settings of a model bulb. Setting the interpolation to "hold" gave the quick blink. Clumsy, but it works. Never having used expressions before, could someone give me an idea of how to do this over a 10 second clip? This would be more elegant than keyframing, especially if I wanted to do this for a longer clip. Thanks

Hi - just wanted to thank everyone who answered my numerous questions while working on this project. I finished the lotion girl to the best she is going to be... she's not Joe Williamsen's Hunter, I've got quite a way to go until I am anywhere near there Anyway, the client wanted the "Bratz Doll" look. Here is a link to the animation on her website and a couple images below. Not real happy with the lip sync, I have some practicing to do with that as well, but the project was taking too long and the client was happy so moving on. Have a great weekend, and thanks again for all your quick forum responses - Eric Animation: http://www.discountindoortanninglotions.co…

Hey everyone, I could use some feedback on this early animation. I modeled a simple plunger, and I'm going to have it hop across the screen. So far, I've finished rigging and blocking the animation, and begun working on fine tuning the hop action. This render is an early test, it is by no means close to finished. I wanted to get the community's opinion on it, and use your comments to improve. At the end of the animation, you'll see a quick downward move. That's the second hop, I only rendered the first, so pay no attention to that. The model itself may be changed eventually, I'm thinking about adjusting the splinage to allow for smother joints. I'd…

Hi all: I am resurrecting an old model, Disney's Nautilus, and am having a strange thing happen. When I try to render the submarine with fog, the fog does not show up in the final render. To compare, I rendered a whale and it came out fine, fog n' all. The attached pic shows both models, the Nautilus and the whale positioned in the same space in the chor to show you what I mean. As you can see, the whale's back end is shrouded in the fog as intended, but the Nautilus's stern is rendering like there is no fog applied. Mind you, this is not two renders superimposed, this is one render with fog and two models in the same general area. Why and how does the Naut…

Who modeled the "boy" model on the new Extras CD? I've been trying to make a 14-year-old by "youngifying" Jimmy, but I'm getting better results by "oldifying" the boy. Now I wanna talk to a pro. I could probably track this down, but it's easier just to ask.

So I'm working on a science fiction comic book and I can't think of a good name for the lead character. He's a member of the S.T.A.R. Force (Special Tactics Armored Rangers), and I'd like something with a old fashioned pulp sound to it like Flash Gordon, but I'm stumped. Any ideas? Here he is after running him thru the comic book render that I'm planning on using.

so I remembered I had one of those classic charlie ventriliquist doll thingies in my basement and I decided to try to model it...I'm very proud in the fact I'm still motivated to keep going..usually by now I'd be disappointed in myself cause of ugly creasing, but the only way to get better is to finish a model completely then try to do another one..completely..anyways... Note: in the render w/ out wires, there is ugly and annoying creasing/bumps in the nose and all around pretty much...anybody know why? I have a feeling it's an amateur thing because I notice a lot of other beginners like me have the same ugly, yet tolerable "mesh texture"...anyways..without furthe…

I was a bit surprised that my assembly line graphic didn't generate much interest at work, but undaunted, I'm trying again. :-) There's a mascot for one our client's that gets used fairly often. Often enough, I thought, that it would be worth making him over in 3D. It's a rooster character and I've had trouble getting his beak right from different angles. To sell them on it, I said I'd just do the head first and see if the client liked the idea. This way, even if they didn't, I'd have a 3D model of the head that I could use as reference for different angles. Here's what I came up with: And here's a little turnaround of it: roosterturn.mov No…

I'm workingo on changing a project that I'd started in Anim8or to Animation Master, and then making a feature film, but I need a little help. I need someone who can make a photorealistic face. I've tried four times, but it comes out way to wonky to work. The rotoscopes are attached to this post and if anybody is willing to do it, please let me know!! All I need is the face, you don't have to do the whole head becuase I have different ideas for the hair and the rotoscopes attached are just guidelines for the project. I don't need the face textured or rigged, I can do all of that, all I need is it built, so help me please! Oh, the face is about 10 inches tall if that…

hello there, i've been thinking of a project i have wanted to do for weeks, but i have my hands full, and i would like some help. there really isn't any "script" for this, but i do need models, at least models that have bones, color and textures (if possible). the project is about a studio that would have a little bit of everything in it, for example, there would be a floor for Animation Master, there would be a floor for Anime, there would be a floor for Bands, exe. and i thought, what if some of these characters from these different floors meet each other? would they understand each other? (Japanese: Anime vs. English) ? would they fight? would they make friends?…

I took a very old model and apply to what I have learn from all these years. Rework the mouth for animation, rework the hip area for smoother bending without using so many fan bones. Use TSM2 and weight mover. Use the latest Hair Particle where before she had a mesh cap on. Use simple Dynamic constraint where before there were two aim bone and a spring system. With the later version of Hash AM, I think I have reduce rigging more then half the time and it works better than before for animation. http://www.gentlechifitness.com/images/EJ_walking_chor.mov I haven't figure out how to smooth out the dynamic constraint in a walk cycle?
