Hey, it's been a while since I've posted somthing new. Since i saw that wonderful katana render, i was inspired again to make something cool with animation master. I decided to make my favorite gun. The desert Eagle .50 cal (most powerful handgun today [i belive]). Rendered with radiosity, its not quite done at 2600 patches. The bullets are modifed from the one that i made in the bullet thread in the material lab. Ben C&C wanted and welcome.... even if its harsh

I've had flash for 7 days now, and I wanted to make something as an exercise. I've also wanted a nice website for a while, so I put the two together and made a flash website for myself. Any feedback would be really appreciated. http://murc13.homestead.com/files/index.htm All of the 3d work in the gallery was made with AM.

Hello- In the properties panel you can turn on "Glow" for a group. It seems you can either turn "Glow" "ON" or "OFF". I tried searching the database but couldn't find an answer to the question, "What if you want a "Glow" to grow,... over time?...from nothing to a bright glow... Is there a way to do this without making two different renders...one with the glow "ON" and one with the glow "OFF" ...and then just cross dissolve the renders in another program like AfterFX? Thanks for any insights Tom

Hey, Here is a 3 segment shot I just rendered out. (about 5Mb) http://www.dustinproductions.com/files/Dustin-3-views.m1v It shows the same virtual scene from 3 different angles (actually this is the first time I have been able to get more than one camera in a live action environment to work). Of course after is been rendered I see all kinds of flaws, but knowing the keen eye here on the forum, I thought ya'll could tear it apart for me and point out the things to fix. Things I know are wrong. 1. Truck is too large 2. Car is too small. 3. Too much lean on the car going through the corner. 4. Seems to be on small deviation in the path (horizontal)…

Banded Mushroom

Has anyone got an idea on why my mushroom is banded like this? I have an animated decal (QT movie) as a displacement map but it hasn't got THAT much compression in it. And look at the underside of the "crown;" it's like a surface break... The surface it pretty hi-res; a 40X40 patch grid rolled into a tube. I'm working of this tutorial and Weevil doesn't run into any of this... hash.com/users/weevil/ EDIT : Part of it turned out to be a poorly-compressed transparency decal. But there's still more going on in this image. ANy ideas? Rhett

My first festival short, "Marboxian," is now up on A:M Films. [Link] Parts of it are downright painful for me to watch now, but it's had a good run this year. Now I just need to finish up "Council of Mice" in a month. Yeek. Which reminds me, I have a call to make... Hope y'all like it- -M@

Sorry I know it is boring but I wanted a critique before I move on to giving the ball some personality. Any and all opinions welcome. Also, I am using 3% motion blur. What are people's thoughts on MB? When I didn't use any the animation looked kind of "jumpy". When I used more (>5%) parts of the ball looked fragemented. Is it a question of finding just the right %? http://www.youtube.com/user/Pesto642

Hi, As some of you know . . . my dad works at NASA, and for a project they are doing, my dad asked me to do an animation of how the ship would unfold once in low earth orbit. I can't post the animation becuase i dont have a website, This picture however is going to be used on a poster for NASA. NASA headquarters saw my video and so did alot of people in my dads group, and i got alot of good comments (im not bragging just wanted to share) here it is . . . i dont know what it's name is, but its gonna help people go to Mars

I've had the program over a year now and decided it was finally time to start making films. So, my first one is Hero: Legend of the West. It has a three page script with only two people who speak in it. Well, there are like two incidentals, but they don't count. Now I haven't modeled everything myself, the horse for example is from the CD, so I have to remodel the saddle to a more western style saddle. But, Hero is the very first character I've ever modeled, so be easy on critiquing him. I'm quite proud that I was finally able to build a character, but there are a lot of faults in the model that luckily get covered up by the toon render!! BTW, the pics aren't i…

Downloaded the Iccarus software which analyzes video and re-creates a camera tracking solution which can then be imported into A:M. The video clip is from the Iccarus tutorials. I followed along with the documentation to create the tracking solution and exported the track into an A:M v9.5 project. The project loaded just fine into A:M 13. Then took Shaggy and added him to the chor and had hip skip merrily through the scene. For a first shot at doing this, I think it turned out fairly well (as far as the camera tracking goes). I know the lighting does not match the scene and Shaggy is too crisp and sharp compared to the video, but it was just a test. C&a…

Heres the beginnings of a Demon model I'm working on for a client. the Head will be radically different. It will be more based on a chaos beastman from Warhammer, but the body is just about there. I'd like critiques to help me make it better. The info I got on the superhero thread was invaluable and I'm hoping for more of the same here. Here is a link to a 360... http://www.colins-loft.net/free/examples/Demon/DemonBody.htm and here is a link to a pic with very very rough hair on the legs.. did I mention it was rough? Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. C

Hey there - long time no type Finally received some decent time to do my own work again and fired up A:M This is loosley based off of a character I painted some time ago. Although it is stylized I'd still like to have some feedback on my spline flow especially for the head. I think I may have too many splines? I'd like to smooth it out more and of course she will have some here and there tweaks before I add her hair and attire. Comments most welcome Thanks

The Talking Pen says I Love You and being a pen it has already drawn a hearth! I believe it is possible to make stories fast with this character. And using two pens - you can have a dialogue - making a plot by setting up a problem and giving some solution to it. Just that easy! Making a melodrama - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melodrama - with two pens or more and some props for some surroundings and perhaps you can do half an hour show in a fortnight earning some quids... Here is the project file and everything you need for you to download and experiment with yourself! Perhaps some day I will also do a free WINK tutorial - http://www.debugmode.…

Hello, Have to make a new model... I like the model I made before, but I need to cut down on the amount of patches... so I redesigned the male model. Cutting down on patch count- I didn't find out this until I was mostly done- means you HAVE to use a multitude of hooks and 5- and 3-point patches. I went from more than 6000 patches (my first model) to nearly 3000 (this model)... I only have half done... havn't CFA'd, yet. I still have to do the inside mouth... then I'll be done... one more day! wireframes :

This is a little try at making an AO style render with just z-buffered kleig lights. I chose the "Biobot" character from the extras disk because he has lots of crevices and bumps to challenge the occlusion effect. AOBTurnTestH.mov The result isn't quite as satisfying as a real AO image but it takes only 5 seconds per frame to render. The quicktime compression is making the shadows on the ground look patchier than they really are. In the original render they're quite smooth.

Well, at long last--well, only two days, but that's as long as it took to make the darn thing--our animated entry in the 48 Hour Film Project for Washington, D.C. is available on AMFilms: http://amfilms.hash.com/search/entry.php?entry=744 A larger version (640x480, 33MB) is also available: http://www.shipbrook.com/mpegs/DuckSauce.html Just to remind everyone, this was created from start to finish--writing, acting, modeling, animation, rendering, editing, and music--in about 53 straight hours by a team of ten: six people local to D.C. and four others scattered throughout the Internet. We were given a series of elements we had to incorporate (the ge…

Hello all! It has been (I feel like I have said this too much) a long time since I have posted. I have been really busy with school and polo and photography stuff. My Dad wants me to do another archviz sketch for his office card for Christmas. Last year I used my Residential Lap pool sketch. For this year I wanted to mix it up a bit. I first started by using a vertical composition (Final render is going to be 1200x1600px). I then chose to use a one-point perspective composition to emphasize scale and accentuate depth. After I had these in mind I sketched out a doodle involving pillars and arches. The idea was to have a hall lined with pillars lead to a…

I have been pretty quiet recently because I've been working hard on virtual me. I wanted to experiment with puppeting a realistic character, and I figured I was the best reference available. The model is not quite as elegantly splined as some of the other self portraits that have been posted recently, but my focus was on movement. So here's a first test at virtual me. There are still some tweaks to be made in both the motion and the model, but this is a promising start. Sorry it's so short, but I had to fit in the 2mb limit take20.mov

OK, I'm trying to get to grips with the patch modelling. Once I start laying down the CP's, it's like a juggling act to get four-point patches without destroying the ones already there. Could someone pleeze tell me if I am going about this the right way, or if I need to scrub this and start again. When I see other people's works (just seen Ken H's start of a face model), they seem so neat compared to mine. Thanks for taking a look... Adam
