Who will be the first to test it out? Here's hoping it will resolve some of the previous issues experienced on Mac OS X. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-sierra/id1127487414?mt=12 MacOS Sierra is a free upgrade. Primary features: Siri, hardrive management that saves storage space. more effective use of iCloud... The few reports I've read suggest users are happy with the upgrade.

[Solution: shorten filename] Has anyone else ever had an error dropping in a wave file into a project? I have several PC's I work on and everything is great when importing an audio file, but on one machine I get "trouble opening mci device error: 304" on this Windows 10 machine. The wave file imports, but there is no audio playback. I so I assume it's that machine and look to make sure all drivers are current and can't replicate the problem in any other app other than A:M. I can import an MP3 and that has playback no problem. Unfortunately I am noticing sync problems and it does not display a waveform in the timeline. Probably because MP3 is not fully support…

This thread began here ( https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48030&hl= ) but I didn't want to hijack Marcos' topic. I was complaining about the a lock mode screen render freezing up with the Win10 busy icon spinning uselessly in front of me with no way to interrupt the process. Gerald suggested; Not in my case, other than waiting for the "non-render" to finish it can only be interrupted by killing A:M in the Task Manager. This behaviour started with v18 and seems to be related to the new feature of storing the screen image of a high patch count model into a memory buffer. Start with only A:M running on the computer and I want to screen render…

For those of you with some experience with this feature perhaps you can elaborate on the snapshot feature a little more so I can better incorporate it into my workflow. First, let me say that I am fascinated by how this snapshot feature can do more than a standard Print Screen of the current screen. I do wonder however if I am missing something so let me postulate the following and see if it matches with what you know: - Snapping a Shot will grab a wireframe or shaded wireframe image of the current window (what you get will depend on what View settings currently being used (Wireframe/Shaded Wireframe) - Control Snapping a Shot will pull up the dialogue to allow …

Has anyone worked out how to access the numeric keypad keys on a Surface Pro 2? I can get the on screen keyboard to display but the 'number pad' is simply the number keys and not the numeric keypad keys..... Cheers David

I recently updated to V17 and am using it to render while animating in V15 at the same time. I will move over to V17 when I get the current short done. In the meantime I have a couple of questions on some changes that seem to have happened between the versions on the way the projects are saved. I'm used to the way V15 saves out the projects as separate files and have adapted to that system. In V17 it seems to save it out to separate folders each time with the file structure sequence inside ? Also, the previous project does not load automatically when the program is opened and needs to be selected under the project heading on the top menu. These are minor…

Having some trouble with renders using Ambient Occlusion. This was rendered with 5 passes and Ambient sampling set to 100%. Its a reflection in a glass surface but, I've had similar troubles in non reflective surfaces too, although this is the most extreme example so far. This is it without ambient settings The ambient render is VGA because its taking a very long time to render at 1080. Can anyone kindly suggest a cause and possible cure for the problem ? Thank you simon

I have had AM on the edge of my radar for a while, but could someone please tell me how the licenses used to originally work back in the day before activation ? Occasionally original AM versions pop up on Ebay and I was wondering how many versions since AM has required online activation ? I may sign up and subscribe now, but would still like a legacy version fully offline and internet independent which could just be swapped around as I change my machines. Could anyone please tell me which version was the last of the old school versions that worked in this way please ? Also, I read somewhere that AM is something of a closed ecosystem because of the specific way…

I just tried installing v19m. I find moving and joining cp's in a small 600 patch model in wireframe mode to be painfully slower compared to v19e (still my favorite). It reminds me of the performance you get in v19e with a multi-thousand patch model with real time shading turned on. The cp's pausing between moves in large discreet increments as all the patches are constantly refound. Am I missing a new option that needs to be turned off?

Hello- Was studying this older project that someone posted and enjoyed the leaf and force interaction. I tried deconstructing the Project but was unable to determine how the many leaves were placed in the Choreography. I'm assuming it wasn't done manually but can't figure out how it was done. Does anyone know? Many thanks for any insights. Tom LeafSwirl.mp4 LeafZip.zip

Hey everyone. I need a bone to spin more than 360 degrees in an animation. I need it to be able to spin around and around many times. I recall having to switch the bone to Euler for this, but I can't seem to remember how or where to go in order to get that done. Do any of you know where to do this and how????

OK, this is a long shot. Is there a way to automatically apply key frames to a percentage pose slider. For example; If I manually move a bone from point A to point B in an action, that animation would then automatically move a pose slider a certain percentage based on some predetermined association (x translate of bone1 from -5" to 10" moves the pose slider 0 to 100%) This may sound like a strange need, but I have been using A:M to program animatroncs with the majority of the control generated through key framed poses exported through an A:M action file. I am looking to combine the pose sliders with an IK rig, but I want that IK rig to drive the pose sliders in a …

Animating with the 2008 rig in a chor with V17, keys keep appearing when the option was not selected ? If I rotate the head geometry bone it sets a key for the scale target, likewise with the pelvis geometry. The scale skeletal button is not selected in the bottom left corner, and it happens intermittently, sometimes it does, others not. Have tried deleting it in the PWS but it keeps coming back. Is there an option to avoid the problem ? regards simon Imac, OSX 10.68, V17g

Since I no longer have any 3.5 in. disk drive readers, it made sense to throw out the more than 100 diskettes that I found in a box today. Among the obsolete sound card drivers and Windows XP recovery disks I found my first A.M. installation, circa 1993. It's frightening to think that someone born the day I received these could be out of university by now. I'll add them to my stack of installation CDs just for completeness.

I've asked before but it was a bit uncertain as to how to procede. Trying to finish the boy and bear project I'm having trouble with the light penetrating the walls of the model. To try and get around it, the walls were double skinned and the materials, other than the door glass, set to 0 transparency. It occurs with Z buffered and ray traced lights. Can anyone kindly suggest a solution ? simon Working in V17g on an Imac under OSX 10.68 Stairs.mov

Hello, In the windows of Decals, I have a way to detach CP of each other (Ctrl click). But I don't find a way to paste them again. Is it possible? It is also possible to exclude a patch of Decals (Remove decals...), but I don't find a way to import a patch in Decals. Is it possible? I ask this, because when I modify a textured model, I lose patches in Uvs. So I try to found a way to repair the UVs. Thank you in advance for the answers

They will then move back together, reverting to a different light as they do. simon Update. the above were using Toon render. When TR is turned off, both lights are visible ?

First, if you never use more than 25 multipasses this was a non-issue and even if you do it was mostly undetectable. The following is only for the painfully curious. One way A:M does motion blur is with multi-pass. It slightly increments the point in time being rendered for each pass and moving objects appear blurred as the passes are blended together. As the number of passes is made larger the fraction of time between passes must be smaller. It turns out A:M stores time in "ticks", not seconds or frames, and A:M counts 135000 ticks per second. Every keyframe you make is stored internally as a number of ticks elapsed from zero. This makes it possible to cha…

I am not understanding how to use the snap to surface feature? This is my first time trying it. Can someone walk me thru the steps to get started, please. I have made a SIMPLE obj in A:M (model exported as obj) I imported that obj 1) as a prop, and 2) imported that obj into a blank model. I have tried to use the snap to surface feature both in model window, as well as in chor (with prop) If I try to do it in the chor, and use the Add cp's - I get a path object If I try to create CP's in model that has prop imported in it (used plugin - import, obj) - I can't seem to control how the cps snap to surface. No comprendo. Que pasa?

Which version of AM was the 1999 year version? Was that 8 or 9? I remember 9 as being the buggy version, and the 1999 year version is the most recent one I have that still supported Win 95/98 and NT. I've been planning on experimenting with an older version of AM in a vm on Linux and Android and I thought those versions might be lightweight enough to manage it, but still have a more modern feature set (in terms of having unibody models, hooks, 5 point patches, etc).

Hello, Able to model using the window "action" is interesting. However, to my knowledge, we need to export the action in a new *.mdl, and open the new model in a new window, to take advantage of the changes. Is there a faster way, without having to export to a new *.mdl, but applied directly the action to the origin *.mdl?

So I got the Webcams in the mail today. Even though they listed at 'HD' they are not. they are only 640. We are not going to be using them for Comic Con. A little background: A long time ago I bought version 11. I used it for quite awhile until my machine died. I tried using it on my Vista laptop and it didn't work. I got an upgrade patch from here to version 12 which did work. I used that for a long time. Then my laptop's disc drive started developing problems. At first I thought it was the disc as it was all scratched up. After much time, frustration aggravation and troubleshooting, I have since discovered that the drive itself was going bad and is now plain done in. I bought an external to run the cd. Here's my problem: I know the drive is good, I know it will read the disc. I was able to uninstall the program and then …

Been a while since I started modeling in AM again and when I shift click to create a surface the splines don't create a patch. Tricky part is the piece I am modeling will be 3d printed and internal faces gives my printers software fits. This particular part is for piece of scroll work that was on an antique mirror. My plans are to model the missing piece, print it out, make a mold then make the replacement patch. I thought in the past I was able to do this but its been a while.

Hi, just wanted to show something cool in the next release of A:M. The plugin Amplitude will be able to use a WAV-file and control any kind of animation-channel (like a pose, a bones rotation, translation, etc.) with the amplitude of the soundfile. Two very small example can be seen attached. The first one is created from several single-tracks (so that the instruments are playing solo in the tracks and control each one "instrument"). The second one is a part of a nightcore-song which will control the height of a model (better to say a pose which controls the height of a model). Then I used the plugin Multiple-Copies to create 10 of those and attached the act…

We've had .ai (Adobe Illustrator) import for a long time. You can make an outline in a vector art program and A:M can import the .ai file and bevel/extrude it to make a 3D shape. That is great for making mechanical parts. However, inexpensive programs that can export a .AI file are still not common. V19 will add suport for SVG. SVG (ScalableVectorGraphics) is another vector format and is supported by free programs like InkScape. InkScape appears to be a full-featured vector graphics editor and should work well for A:M purposes.

I was wondering if anyone has been able to export a Hash model to 3d pdf? I was thinking I could use an obj format to keep textures but not sure what converters are there out there that might be free? Basically I want to be able to show mock ups of items to my customers with their imprints on them so they can easily show their customers. I have been rendering stills but that can be tedious when they want different views and only tell me after the images are rendered. I did stumble across Meshlabs, when I first tried it the program was a clunker. Seems they have really fixed it. Perfect for those who want to close openings and fix meshes for 3d printing. Free …

This one is eluding me... What I'm trying to do is place a rectangular decal (or patch image... although this would be problematic) onto a a plane that (from the top view) has the curvature of a spiral. In thinking about this further I can see how I might warp (or unwarp) the mesh to get everything straight from top view and then drop the 'bottom' down to where it needs to be but I'm wondering if there is an easier or more elegant way. A cylindrical stamp won't work because that would repeat the image (which isn't what I want). Hmm.... while typing another approach suggests itself but I don't think it'll work. That would be to decal only one small part of…

Here is a turn-around of flat grids with displacement maps on them. I modeled some hemispheres and pyramid shapes, put a gray gradient on them and shot them from overhead with an orthogonal camera. The render that produced is on the top card. The bottom card has the image blurred and re-saved in Photoshop. The shading results are fairly consistent in the first half revolution when the patch normals are facing us, but get odd when they are facing away. BumpTurnH1500.mov
