My question is, what do the different types of constraints do? There are so many of them and I am confused as to how they affect models. Thanks, MasterFunk

There's some unbelievable work happening at the Animation Showdown... not by me though; I'm coming in last every week! My entries for July: Chop (the only entry that didn't do an overhead chop) Pinch (burned up way too much time on the clam) Shiver (in retrospect, combining the knee knocking with the vertical torso motion probably wasn't realistic) You can see them on my Showdown Page.

Here's an example, no audio yet, of using distortions in the face to get some elasticity into it.... I plan to add more 'extremes' to these poses, seems you just can't make them extreme enough. In this scene MissD. complains about her boots... 'stars' were added in After Effects using an animated morey pattern. SHOE2.mov

hi gang, here is my latest lip synch attempt. this about the 3rd pass. it isn't as lifelike as i want it to be, but it is definitely the closest i have ever come to breathing some life into one of my characters. i guess i am my own worst critic, and i've heard this dialogue so many times that i want to pull my hair out. i love bruce cambell, but i think i have ruined this quote for me....damn. note to self: don't lip synch with something you really like, you will learn to hate it! anyway here it is, let me know what you think! I have three actions on a character in a chor but the last action inside the chor does not match the actual animation inside the action. It is one of a kid putting a flashlite on a chair and the flashlite is constrained to the left hand until it gets placed on the chair. In the chor the hand is in a different position after he lets go of the flashlite than it is in the action. How can I fix this?

I created a robot about, mmm, I say about a month ago. I've been finalizing him and I am almost finished except I need to add-subtract smart skin-bones around the arm. the rig is custom so that explains why he doesn't bend good around the arms. I want to know, however, what you think of him.

Hello, I am the one making the 'Against the Author, the War of the Worlds' movie right now. If anyone out there has a sountrack for a movie WHICH THEY MADE THEMSELVES, PLEASE contact me at simon@baldrix.com !!! Your sontrack will be used in the movie along with full credit for the composition. Please send me any, even if you do not think it is very good because we would like some sountracks that are not already used in another movie, or copyrighted!!! Unless you copyrighted it, then it is ok! Thanks to all who give us music, remember to also put your full name on the e-mail or you will not get credit!!! THANK YOU ALL, SIMON Director of 'Against the A…

We don't all have broadband so may I politely suggest to people posting images directly into the forum messages that you take some steps in reducing the size of them - use thumbnails with links off to full size images somewhere else if necessary. And by size I mean keep them under 50kb. People like me just aren't going to sit around for 5 minutes waiting for the images to download! If I did I would never get through the forum posts! Cheers

Hi, I haven't posted anything in forever and thought I'd share what I'm working on. This is one of a few types of spacecraft I'm modeling for a live action greenscreen comp. Basically, I'm pushing the envelope with what I'm capable of doing. This is going to eventually end up on a showreel. I've still got some nurnies to add and some textures and cockpit interiors and so on. I created a small avi turn around that I wasn't able to upload for some reason. Anyway, crits welcome. I'll create some better wireframe pics. Steve P.

I am working on the quarter animation contest and I thought, (silly me) there was a homer simpson fat man on the CD, but there is not. Also I have asked this to Hash on the use, using the models on the cd, I have yet to find any of the females that are expression ready. Am I looking in the wrong area? Some guidance please on a female with facial expressions and am I crazy about the fat man model?

I started modelling this head in wings, so I could block out the main shapes, then put in A:M. It still took me quite a while to get this far, but It was faster and turned out better than starting in A:M. I'm not very good at heads. Feel free to make comments. The eyes are somewhat anime, and I need to do more around the nose, as well as endless smoothing.

Hey everyone I'm back!-that's right I left . I took a 3 month break from the forums so I could focus more on animation. Here's what I pooped out. (I would really appreciate critiques. Forget that "Dont say anything at all if you dont have anything nice to say" stuff, rip them apart, that's how I learn.) Please be patient with files, they can take while to load, but do not exceed 4mb Lets start from where we left off, heres the revised version of my first walk that I posted three months ago. I still cant get the 'choppiness' of the last frames to go away. ***Walk*** + Walk in Simplified Shapes (Eliminates most of the choppy parts) A ball reacting to…

Walking a "Tightrope" was the topic this week. But my guy ended up looking more like he's waiting for some clown on a trapeze to take him out. See it on my showdown page (QT 95K Sorenson3) My "plan" was to break up the walking action with these "unbalanced" poses, but I never got them to work together and in hindsight, that was too much of a "make animation" solution and not enough of a "character animation" solution.

Got this idea after watch a commecial where bubbles with people fall then the people continue doing something. Thought it might be cool to have a ball or frisbee shape sail through the air and morph into something else with color and shape changes. So I volunteered Thom and did a very rough test will have to play with it a bit more as time allows roughidea.mov

I have a simple practice animation using Shaggy. He has about seven seconds of movement keyed in. For a while, the animation would play just fine. [in the Choreo. window/Skeletal Mode]. Suddenly, it has locked itself at 04:08. I can't move the slider under the Choreography, or, it just bounces back to 04:08. If I enter the numbers 00:00:00 and hit 'play', it jumps to 04:08. I've set the Choreography length in Properties. I've set the length at the top of the Project Workspace, and I've set the length of the blue bar in Choreography. Still, something is not right. I have a second Choreography going with Shaggy, and there's no problem.

Hi I was playing around with making a metal material today. Then I thought it would be fun to apply it to one of the first models I made in A:M a long time ago, Robbie the Robot. I'm pretty sure I did him from a tutorial but I have no idea where the tutorial came from. Anyway, I started playing with a ground material and stuff and just had some fun. Thought I'd post the result here for folks to take a gander at. Hope you like it.

Here's a model of a tent which is used by the nomads of Outer Mongolia. It's called a ger, or some call it a yurt. I'm visiting my parents who are missionaires in Mongolia so I decided to take advantage of some reference shots. Am going to stick it in a much larger seen once I'm happy with it.
