Hello - 2-3 weeks back I posted a pic I had a caricature artist draw at Universal Studios http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33132 because I wanted to see how well it would work as a rotoscope for a character... using it worked out pretty good. This isn't really a "work in progress" but I would love some crits. I have created one other "human" as one of my early models and she didn't come out real great - her lip movement for talking was way off too, so I kind of set her way back in the animation, so you couldn't really tell - I need more "human" modeling practice which seems to be the hardest for me, so this is the new version of her. The lip syn…

Hey- Inspired by Joe Williamson's Hunter, I have been trying to get the Dynamic Constraints to work on some parts of my model. Hash has a nice simple tutorial in the online reference but the menu is different from the menu I get in my A:M v11.0o... (see attached illustration for clarity) I am trying to get the 'stiffness' control to work-Can anyone set me astraight on this? BTW- I would have posted this in the general A:M forum, but I see they do not allow attachments there.

Hello, this avi-file of a rotating blue light is my first own project outside the exercises and tutorials. Of course, it is not of artistic value. But I hope I can learn from your critics and improve my knowledge on animation:master. The most time I spent by fitting the lighting performance so that the blue light looks as real as possible. Just was wondering what some of your opinions were when it comes to the industry. I've seen two types of Demo reels. The type where there's a title card, the full project plays through and then repeats through other projects til done. Or a montage of clips with a music lay over of random projects segments. Which do you think is more professional? I see advantages for both. The P to P shows that you can be cohesive, that you can tell a full story visually while the montage can highlight your "money shots" and can show more of your work in the standard 3-4 min time span. I don't know. What do you guys think?

A little tricky to model, still have a few subtle wrinkles to take out. Had to manually flip a mirror and stitch it because the flip copy attach got stupid on me and would make a birds nest. If I get a chance to clean it up a bit more it will be in the exchange.

I am working on the quarter animation contest and I thought, (silly me) there was a homer simpson fat man on the CD, but there is not. Also I have asked this to Hash on the use, using the models on the cd, I have yet to find any of the females that are expression ready. Am I looking in the wrong area? Some guidance please on a female with facial expressions and am I crazy about the fat man model?

I started modelling this head in wings, so I could block out the main shapes, then put in A:M. It still took me quite a while to get this far, but It was faster and turned out better than starting in A:M. I'm not very good at heads. Feel free to make comments. The eyes are somewhat anime, and I need to do more around the nose, as well as endless smoothing.

hi gang, here is my latest lip synch attempt. this about the 3rd pass. it isn't as lifelike as i want it to be, but it is definitely the closest i have ever come to breathing some life into one of my characters. i guess i am my own worst critic, and i've heard this dialogue so many times that i want to pull my hair out. i love bruce cambell, but i think i have ruined this quote for me....damn. note to self: don't lip synch with something you really like, you will learn to hate it! anyway here it is, let me know what you think! The tooncart latly brought me to try to rigg a simple car myself. Following the lines of the bone-tut of Rodger Reynolds , I managed to set up the steering. But when I made a second action for the wheels rolling, in the action only one wheel is rolling, and even that seems to be stopping brievly at the starting-point.. in the chor even none. What have I done wrong? I constrained the other wheels with a roll like constraint. The car is constrained to a path. How can I slow it down a bit to watch its movement better? I enclose the project for anybody interested to help to have a look. Thank you ;>) Jake Something like a rigging -machine for …

Hello I seem to have screwed something up.......I started working on the giraffe tutorial, since I thought that might be beneficial since I still have some problems with modelling. I wanted to change the units for the grid, so I could follow along properly, from cm to ft. However, after I did that, the grid disappeared even though I have "display grid" checked. I had changed the grid spacing from .16cm to 1foot, I wouldn't have thought that would have made it disappear. I probably did something wrong, what I want to know is is there anyway to get the default settings back? Roger

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLdvxeGHOXA Hey! I just used A:M's SimCloth feature again in another TV spot and it didn't let me down. I needed to show a Christmas present UNwrapping, so first I did the bow unwrap in an action using muscle-mode animation to sort of 'undraw' itself. Once it was gone the ribbons wrapping around the present were free to fall- and SimCloth did the trick with very little futzing. All this to sell furniture... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLdvxeGHOXA

[attachmentid=17093] This looks plain because of no textures. But you should get the idea? At least 95% finished. Also another to ADD towards the Extras DVD if desired. By the way..... Rodney..... I have these 3 newer models: G_Loader Gun/Corridor and this Fence Enclosure. Should I send them for the Extras DVD? Heres an Update. May not seem like much, but the single piece that goes to the Right Angle is detachable to expand the enclosure to any number in length. I also varied the Fence Rails height for more interest. A simple task as picking up a telephone receiver is more than meets the eye. OK, so I have Shaggy answering a phone; I wat him to pick up the receiver with the cord attached to it. In order for the cord to follow the receiver, I made the receiver bone a child of the last cord bone so that where ever the receiver goes the rest will follow. However, when i constraint the receiver to Shaggy's hand, the rest of the cord bones do not follow Now if I make the receiver the parent bone, the problem is the cord will move as a solid part of the receiver and you wouldn't have the amiability of the cord. Would appreciate it if anyone out there has the solution to sha…

(couldn't think of a good 3 or 4 word description.) I've got an animation three seconds long. The turret from one of the armored cars bounces and rattles down the tunnel and comes to a stop at the three second mark. [make a keyframe] Then it sits there for five more seconds. [make a keyframe at 8 sec.] But when I render it out, it takes the three sec. segment and stretches it to the full eight. What's going wrong?

Well, it's probably way overdue that I post a WIP thread on this project, so here's what I've got so far: This is the body for one of the two characters. Today I'll be working on modeling the head, texturing and rigging him. The other character is going to be cloned from this completed model. I'll need to make some minor changes to differentiate the two, like the other character will have longer sleeves, a thinner build, some minor tweaks to the face, and different hair/facial hair. But for all intents and purposes, the brunt of the work is going to be done on this character (Rigging, facial setup, etc) and the other character will just be a duplicate. Se…

Hi! Ive been doin a quick browse of my hard drive and came up with a few previously unorganized projects. So.. I picked up this project first and I plan to finish it. I started the old thread here: Here I just did some atmospheric adjustments and lighting adjustments as well. I updated the grass with a better alpha map (soon do be better too). I also changed the skymap and a few odds n ends. The render time is killer though, the screen shot below is after 10 hours of render time (was set a 1500x800 4pass, the first pass took 2 hours and it froze on the second pass) Its not the full render but a screenshot of the frozen screen and cropped. More soon…

Hi! I finally managed to get settled in with my classes ! So I know have enough time to start a new project! I plan to make a fall scene and maybe transition it over to a Halloween scene.... Here is what I got so far, it is very rough needs some work: The grass needs to be thicker and better distributed and the pumpkin looks a bit uniform. Also the lighting isnt final, its just a single sun-light. C&C Welcome Photoman

Just trying out an idea with a tree and leaves and trying to seee if the controls get saved. All but the last frame .. saved fine... the last frame highlights a leaf and I noticed that after saving and looking at the frame it shifted slightly but I did have a random factor checked in the sprite window so that would explain it. If Vern says its okay I'l posted the project since he inspired part of the leaf Tinkering Gnome moneytree.mov

Hey gang, I've been slaving for quite a few months this year trying to get a animated short ready to go for a film festival and boy is it tough.
