I wonder if it would be a good way to use a spriteemiter doing leafs for a tree and then just "freezing" it, so that you get a tree with many leafs usable for more distant trees. Does anybody ever used this or has any ecxpierience with that? Just asking, if it makes sense to investigate into that direction....

hi gang, here is my latest lip synch attempt. this about the 3rd pass. it isn't as lifelike as i want it to be, but it is definitely the closest i have ever come to breathing some life into one of my characters. i guess i am my own worst critic, and i've heard this dialogue so many times that i want to pull my hair out. i love bruce cambell, but i think i have ruined this quote for me....damn. note to self: don't lip synch with something you really like, you will learn to hate it! anyway here it is, let me know what you think! Having finished me third BB storyboard, I decided to do some animation. I started by giving BB some eyebrows, reducing the sharpness on her cheeks and giving her a proper join on her neckline. What do you Hashers think? I have also notice an anomally under her right eye. There is a 5-point patch there and it normal is pointing in the right direction (as on the other side), but whereas it renders fine in model mode it doesn't when I drop it in a choreography with lights. I get that shadow artifact… I am using AM 11.1e on the PC.

ok.... You can see in screen cap 2, the circles that make up the leg are fine til it gets to the point circled in red. In screencap 1 the worst areas are circled. Any thoughts on best way or if this is even necessary to correct are appreciated. Thanks Roger

Hi! Ive been doin a quick browse of my hard drive and came up with a few previously unorganized projects. So.. I picked up this project first and I plan to finish it. I started the old thread here: Here I just did some atmospheric adjustments and lighting adjustments as well. I updated the grass with a better alpha map (soon do be better too). I also changed the skymap and a few odds n ends. The render time is killer though, the screen shot below is after 10 hours of render time (was set a 1500x800 4pass, the first pass took 2 hours and it froze on the second pass) Its not the full render but a screenshot of the frozen screen and cropped. More soon…

I have a rather complex landscape with a road and want the middlespline of the road become a path for my car. So now when I create a new path constraint I am not able to pick this specific spline as a path . I know, that it is possible, because I have achieved it before, but lost the constraint, when I switched my car model. So my question is: Is there a special trick or workaround to make that spline pickable again or make it selectable in the pull downmenue?

This is one of the first thing I ever built in A:M a few years ago. I decided to revisit it after everyone was making rooms to use for Radiosity in the Radiosity Forum. Rendered with 6 Bulbs and 1 Klieg for the outside light. 25 Passes at 800 X 600 took about 3 hours and 13 minutes to render. I threw in the torso of my centaur that I made and gave him glowing red eyes. Although I am putting it in this forum, there may come a time that I decide to redo it again. Any comments are appreciated.

I had tons of extra time tonight so I decided to finish up my Droid Starfighter, which is to be used int he first action scene from Clone Commander. I used Color, Bump and Reflectivity maps, but I had to use progressive render b/c for some reason, it freezes when I do normal render. Critique is welcome, although we won't be getting this close to it in the finished film.

'lo, Been quite some time since I posted any work at all, mostly because my lack of webspace and ability to host. Luckely, one of my friends offered me help with both hosting of my web-page and my files. I created this intro for another friend of mine(I got like many, almost 4 ) for about 6 months ago and it's the only thing I've uploaded so far, but at least it's something, right? Info and link: http://jstudios.lutrafobic.com/index.php?side=ani PS! Contains nudity. PS PS! I can't find the project, so although I'd love to re-do it, I can't unless I'd make the entire scene again. Critique is still very much apriciated, though.

Martin and gang---- I am not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but it would be kind of nice if there were a way to bookmark different entries within the help system, so that you can go back to them quickly. I am not a full-time user of AM, and if I don't do something a bunch of times I find myself having to go back to the help index or pester people on the board to find something. It would be nice to be able to personalize the help file, in order to keep entries on things that stump you handy. Just something I would find useful. If there is already a way to do this I'd love to know how. Thanks Roger

Since I have been off (from work... ) this week I been pushing some ideas I've been thinking about on my commute to & from work so here is another one. I used an expression to move a series of bones on a plane to make waves. The actual expression was applied to each bone with a simple copy and paste and a tweak. It needs adjustment since it is a bit fast but I wanted to try a render. So I grabbed a boat off the cd, a darktree material, for the water, added a null following a spline on the grid, to contrain the boat's position and rendered. Its only a single multipass to speed things up ( slow computer) and a litttle jaggy but here it is wavetest.mov …

Yay! Finally something moving - I need to redo the cp assigning/weighting and play with constraints so the body stops doing goofy things when I try to move the bones, but its a start. I tried to upload an AVI file but it says I'm not allowed. Wonder whats up w/ that.

Here's the project. Open your pose slider window and click on the main camera model to bring up the positioning sliders. To use the camera control options you need to turn off the null targeting. Any questions on how to use it just ask.

Here's a model of a tent which is used by the nomads of Outer Mongolia. It's called a ger, or some call it a yurt. I'm visiting my parents who are missionaires in Mongolia so I decided to take advantage of some reference shots. Am going to stick it in a much larger seen once I'm happy with it.

The first clip "I see Dead Piggies" was just soooooo wonderful it just begged to be used in the making of the second "Space CowGhoul". There's some unbelievable work happening at the Animation Showdown... not by me though; I'm coming in last every week! My entries for July: Chop (the only entry that didn't do an overhead chop) Pinch (burned up way too much time on the clam) Shiver (in retrospect, combining the knee knocking with the vertical torso motion probably wasn't realistic) You can see them on my Showdown Page.

I have a simple practice animation using Shaggy. He has about seven seconds of movement keyed in. For a while, the animation would play just fine. [in the Choreo. window/Skeletal Mode]. Suddenly, it has locked itself at 04:08. I can't move the slider under the Choreography, or, it just bounces back to 04:08. If I enter the numbers 00:00:00 and hit 'play', it jumps to 04:08. I've set the Choreography length in Properties. I've set the length at the top of the Project Workspace, and I've set the length of the blue bar in Choreography. Still, something is not right. I have a second Choreography going with Shaggy, and there's no problem.

The spitball rock on which the Sentinel spends his time [his life?] is pretty much devoid of life, but there are large, torpid, harmless beetles in the snow areas. They appear as rocks poking out of the snow until Beast wanders too close and they slowly start to shuffle away. Occasionally, one cannot move out of range fast enough and will rear up and make ritual threatening gestures, then sink back out of sight. BEETLE_TEST.zip

While I'm waiting to get my Robot fixed I began working on these rotoscopes. They are inspired/copied from an old Golden Age cartoon "The Fox and the Crow." I've always loved crow characters. I found when I was doing my robot that not having a rotoscope was too much freedom and not enough structure, and I got bogged down since I had no direction so I'm hoping this will help. I want a decent rotoscope that will help me plan out the splines, which was another issue I had. Someone said (I think it was the guy who did the Osprey) that you should always work from a rotoscope. Anyway, here it is - any comments are appreciated that you think might improve it, or anythi…

Hello all- I have a sequence of 26 images that I am using as sprite particles. Two questions that I haven't been able to figure out yet: 1) Can you make each image being used as a sprite last longer that 1 frame? 2) Can you make the 26 images cycle over and over? At the moment, after frame 26, the animation just uses the last image and repeats it to the end... Thanks for any insights!! Tom
