Im looking for a model of a small baby that I can animate. He needs to crawl and walk, so I need movable limbs. Using AM version 10 and not very good at it. Is there a source to buy AM models? Most 3D sites never heard of AM.

Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted but in light of the new Sarah connor chronicles I decided to attempt a Terminater model. Heres some early stuff as I am still shaping him up. Crits and suggestions as well as reference pics are welcome.

I've been focusing on rigging, stylization, particle systems, I thought it was time I concentrate on something new for a while. I decided to try and work on terrain. The first thing that came to mind (for whatever reason) was an oriental mountain top with a small pagoda, a waterfall, and an enlarged looking banzai tree. I modeld and textured the mountain...now I need to find (or make) a pagoda, and somehow a waterfall. If anyone has any suggestions for making a waterfall or has a model of a pagoda that would be great. I doodled a bad drawing to kind of get the idea of the layout. Thanks for yo…

Hey everyone, I went out and got a new PSP game called Patapon. It's another fun, stylized game from Japan Studio. Playing it and looking at the 2D stylization got me thinking. "I wonder if I could make a 2D animation in A:M. Of course it's simple in Toon Render but I mean actually 2D. So I made a model of a Patapon off the top of my head. Everything is going smoothly so far but if anyone has any suggestion or ideas feel free. I attached some pictures of the project. ( I'm also working on TAO of A:M on the side lines; only four more lessons left. Thanks for your…

Hi, I just wanted to drop a quick note about a short film production I'm currently working on with a buddy (I'm waiting on a render). The film is called "Lost Hallway". I'm handling CG and compositing for it. It's a very green-screen heavy job with a very tight deadline. I'm using Animation Master 15 for the CGI and Eyeon Vision for keying and compositing. The pipeline is Sony HD video camera at 60i to Avid, then export of each shot to individual TIFF files, which are then scaled down by Vision to make rotoscope images for loading into AM15. Modeling and rendering is done in AM, and animated to match the actresses (we used green screen tracking markers to get re…

There will be other objects in the cup and I want them to bounce around inside the cup. I am not getting Newton Physics at all. I have seen others accomplish some neat things. I have d/l the pdf tutorial and can not get it to apply to what I am wanting to do. Any help? Steve Here is a shot of the room

I'm trying to put together a portfolio and I want to thank you guys for all your help and crits. I think I'm almost there. This is really an extended topic from the KeeKat's Secret and Lypsyching the cowboy where I asked the question on lipsyching methods. This is using the "manual" method; which at this point I KNOW gets the best results. Raven.mov This is the "long" one I was referring to to. Didn't take as long as i thought it would. On this one though, I don't think its as good as the Cowboy. I believe it comes from the poses which was mentioned in one of the other topics(go figure). The cowboy's poses were done by a master, and Raven's done …

Hello, been a while, I recently used A:M to build a mockup of a networking proposal for a presentation in my networking protocols class. This was kind of a last minute thing which is why it's so unfinished. I don't really have a use for it since I'm done with that class so I figured I'd let 'yall have it. Background info: I used the models to go transparent to show the placement of the networking cables in the walls, it got a wow out of the class and a "overachiever" comment from a peer. total construction time: 4 days. machines used: Powermac G5 A:M v15, Xeon PC A:M v14. download: Office ~2.1MB a few images:

Hello Fellow A:Mers, and thank you for your time and assistance with my problem (beyond my own stupidity, of course). After recently upgrading to v15, one of my projects has lost all of its 'roundness'. Everything in the model now contains harsh edges, even spheres have become a lot of little straight lines from CP to CP. I did check to see if the Peak and Smooth controls would help, but alas, I cannot find an answer. I have opened some of the models that came with the program, like KeeKat, and he has not suffered any 'loss of roundness'(sorry I cannot describe this any better). BUT, when I do render my model, he returns to the nice smooth creature he was…

I thought about this when I posted my first tutorial on johnl3d.blogspot.com I used a pose without explaining how... so I guess that should be my next tutorial. I find creating a pose to do an effect very useful . In this example to show what I mean I have a rough egg shape change color then disappear..go transparent.. I set this up with two simple poses..which are set up in the action window where you set up a new pose. I could have made an action but that would require more work and more setup in the end. Here I imported the same model into the chor and scaled it so each fit inside the other then simply move the pose over time for each one ...pose 1 to change the …

Over the past couple of years and I have used the standard lighting setup. Over the past couple of weeks I have been playing with lights. I have a couple of questions. I am building a room with can lights (recessed lighting in the ceiling). I want the can lights to light the room in an addition I will have a fill light such as a lamp. When lighting a room such as this 1. Is it best to light from the model, action, chor? If you light within the model I have had some issues trying to get enough light in the room. In the chor it is tough to position the light and you have to add to the model for each chor. 2. I remember the Yves did a tutorial on ligh…

Hello Everyone, I've been working this animation for the Villikon Chronicles (www.villikonchronicles.com). I have posted the progress of the main female character Mysterre. The texturing will come soon. You can visit my web page to see other artwork and other progress.GraphicAnime Site: VillikonChronicles Project Another thing. If anyone knows about a 3rd party program that imports OBJ or 3DS models into Animation Master well, please let me know. I had someone send me a sentinal model that was done in Maya. He gave me the OBJ model. When I imported it into AM the splines of the model became very jagged and pointy.

My brother and I have started to get tired of starting projects and not finishing them soo, we've decided to do something that is as simple as possible (asap ahaha). We got the idea from super mario brothers and also the other mario movie weve seen in progress on the forum except the main characters are the goombas. Hopefully this will be a learning experience with some effects and basic animating and modeling. First clip is a 360 of the goomba and the second is a cannon effect i've been working on. Here's a progress video of the character in my avatar which I'm making for a project I'm working on. The head in the first frame is from a character I made previously so, this character grew out of that one. There aren't as many steps as I'd like but it's all the models I have. The original concept was inspired by a sketch. testbrat.wmv

I have begun my final project for Digital Film class. It is a humorous/macabre short entitled "Dogfood". The style is somewhat german expressionist, somewhat my own strange sensibilities. The man in it is tormented day and night by the barking dog in his neighbor's apartment, until he exacts his revenge. The man never actually sees the dog barking, so the script had called for a sillouhetted dog, rather than something too specific. Since I have no dog, much less one that would be willing to act in this part, I have opted to use a CG stunt dog. It doesn't need to be photoreal, just a suggeston of a dog. My digital film teacher has a vendetta against A:M th…

Ack...I did something a bit too quickly. When opening a project, I was prompted to click on where a model was located. I accidentally clicked on another model by mistake. I quickly exited out of loading the file. However, when I go to open the file now, it doesn't prompt me for the model again. I have now opened the project. Now, it would be simple if my project did not have any animation keyframes for the model that is supposed to be there in the first place. The model I accidentally imported in its place, is associated with the animated keyframes (both models are human bipeds and rigged exactly the same). Is there an easy way to replace the orroneous model with the…

Ok, This was my entry: I made it from Floor Plans that I found on the web. Had I known there would be so many great entries, I'd have used some more elaborate plans, but then I probably wouldn't have had time to finish. Here is the model with no textures, just AO: Nearly all the textures came from CGTextures.com (I believe I used 5 images total). The background image is a photo I took here in the Hudson Valley. I had planned to do some landscaping with plants, but something went wrong somehow with the choreography file, and Cookie cuts wouldn't render right. I tried to reproduce the results in test choreographies, but sometimes I could, someti…

Hi, I'm a returning A:M newbie who is finally learning this program using version 8.5. I know... I am creating an animation of a levitated deck of cards, and I want them to move from the deck to a magician's close-up table. Unfortunately, they seem to move on their own. I am using simple translation for movement. I clicked the "Make Keyframe" key at zero frames: I typed 30 (1 sec) in the frames window, moved the top card, and clicked "Make KeyFrame" I want this particular position to hold for 30 frames before moving to its final position, so I typed 60 into the frames window and clicked "Make KeyFrame" The card's final positi…

I started over last month on a model that I started in June of last year. I quit working on it in July of 2007 but recently I wanted to create a small animation and decided he would be the star. So I started rigging the character with the poseable rig and it has taken me three tries to figure out the model itself was the problem. So I rebuilt the chest and shoulders and then worked on the head, reduced splines and now I am asking for critiques once again on the look. Steve

Here is the latest from Ernie. It is a 1920's music video. This is an exciting cartoon for a couple of reasons. First, I got blink tracking working in ZignTrack. This gives the eyes a lot more expressiveness. It was pretty simple, I put tiny loops of blue masking tape on my top lashes and tracked them with the second eyebrow feature (which I wasn't using). Second, everything after tracking in ZT was done in A:M. I rendered the animation at 18fps. I created dust and scratch mattes using particles. I composited the dust and scratches and tinted it B&W. Finally I rerendered at 30fps with sound. (the scratches mostly got compressed out by Youtube…

Hello fellow animators, For my short film, I'm trying to create a certain lighting effect using a directional light. I'm working with Ambient Occlusion. I tried adding a light, but it always appears as a spherical light source casting light in all directions. Instead I added the rim light that is default in any chor's PWS to my choreography, and that light is indeed directional. So cool, I thought I had it all figured out. The thing I don't understand is, the light is shining through walls. I'm trying to have the light partly obscured by a wall, but even if I aim it in the center of a wall, the light is just as strong on the other side of the wall! Is there some se…

To speed up render times [in a multi-frame animation] am I right in assuming that objects that are turned off in the Properties no longer exist are far as render times and computing effort? I have a situation in which I've built jungle foilage. The individual 'leaf units' are light in CP's, but there's a lot of units. I'm thinking it would be nice if I could have them turned off before they enter the frame, and turned off again after they leave.
