So I have purchased the subscription and downloaded the software. Did the installation and got through that hurdle. Now I am up to the 'The Door's Stuck' tutorial in TAoAM and have run into a little snag. It tells me to go to the projects tab in the library and get the project for the tutorial. um...the projects tab is empty. Is there a link to download the extras?

Animating with the 2008 rig in a chor with V17, keys keep appearing when the option was not selected ? If I rotate the head geometry bone it sets a key for the scale target, likewise with the pelvis geometry. The scale skeletal button is not selected in the bottom left corner, and it happens intermittently, sometimes it does, others not. Have tried deleting it in the PWS but it keeps coming back. Have an old model that works in AM 18f (rig) but falls apart once it is saved in 18f 'new format'. So what has changed? Not being a rigging person I have no idea what has failed. (its an old Eggprops character model). Being an Eggprops commercial model I don't think I can share it (Reixcherub model for anyone who still remembers it) Cheers

OK, this is a long shot. Is there a way to automatically apply key frames to a percentage pose slider. For example; If I manually move a bone from point A to point B in an action, that animation would then automatically move a pose slider a certain percentage based on some predetermined association (x translate of bone1 from -5" to 10" moves the pose slider 0 to 100%) This may sound like a strange need, but I have been using A:M to program animatroncs with the majority of the control generated through key framed poses exported through an A:M action file. I am looking to combine the pose sliders with an IK rig, but I want that IK rig to drive the pose sliders in a …

I recently updated to V17 and am using it to render while animating in V15 at the same time. I will move over to V17 when I get the current short done. In the meantime I have a couple of questions on some changes that seem to have happened between the versions on the way the projects are saved. I'm used to the way V15 saves out the projects as separate files and have adapted to that system. In V17 it seems to save it out to separate folders each time with the file structure sequence inside ? Also, the previous project does not load automatically when the program is opened and needs to be selected under the project heading on the top menu. These are minor…

Hello- Was studying this older project that someone posted and enjoyed the leaf and force interaction. I tried deconstructing the Project but was unable to determine how the many leaves were placed in the Choreography. I'm assuming it wasn't done manually but can't figure out how it was done. Hello- I noticed this effect in the fantastic animated clip entitled "The Tale of the Three Brothers" from a Harry Potter's film. Her dress shatters as the character dies and if you notice, her dress shatters as small rectangles. My question is, is there a way to have a model shatter but customize the shapes of the exploding pieces? Let's say that you want the dress to explode like the different suits of a card deck (attached)...is that possible? Is there some way to pre-cut the exploding parts (with a cookie cutter map or...?) While pursuing an AMReport Steffen found a way to optimize the Sub-Surface Scattering code. My first simple test gives promising results: that's almost 60% more frames per minute. This change is in v17 beta 5 available now!

Have been trying to achieve a running style like that of the roadrunner in the WB shorts with very mixed results. Thought of another way to try in the meantime and wondered if anyone could kindly offer help on a couple of points ? Initially I set up an action for each foot then tried to put that on a path in a chor but that didn't seem to work, so tried to set it up using a path, but paths don't seem to be an option in actions ? Then tried to set it up in the chor but two questions, How do you get it to loop ( post extrapolation ? ) and can you then move it along using the track by moving the path ? regards simon Road_Runner.prj

Hello- I am runnings AM 18.0 f SSE3 on Windows 7 with an Intel Q 965/963 graphics card. It is an HP computer (bought second hand). My Animation Master "Real Time Driver " is open GL. I tried "Open GL3" but the system said that failed. I can import images into the Project workspace but when I drag then into the model window to apply as a decal I get the attached error message? Has anyone else experienced this and is there a setting I can change to make it not crash? many thanks for any insights! Tom

I just tried installing v19m. I find moving and joining cp's in a small 600 patch model in wireframe mode to be painfully slower compared to v19e (still my favorite). It reminds me of the performance you get in v19e with a multi-thousand patch model with real time shading turned on. The cp's pausing between moves in large discreet increments as all the patches are constantly refound. Am I missing a new option that needs to be turned off?

Good evening everyone, I ask myself this question for a few years already, without finding a logical answer. I noticed that the AM export Obj writes the triangles like quads. That is to say for a triangle ABC, the convention is to write as follows: f A B C But AM write them: f A B C A, which is the convention of writing quads (f A B C D). Some programs like Wings3D play them correctly, others like Blender, consider them as bad quads that they ignore, which creates holes and therefore unusable. First, if you never use more than 25 multipasses this was a non-issue and even if you do it was mostly undetectable. The following is only for the painfully curious. One way A:M does motion blur is with multi-pass. It slightly increments the point in time being rendered for each pass and moving objects appear blurred as the passes are blended together. As the number of passes is made larger the fraction of time between passes must be smaller. It turns out A:M stores time in "ticks", not seconds or frames, and A:M counts 135000 ticks per second. One of the big drawbacks for me with the subscription with AM is I am stuck on one machine. For myself I often work more on my laptop and only use my desktop when I really need to. Mainly because I have shoulder problems and reaching up with my Cintiq becomes an issue quickly. I have 1 program that is subscription based and limited to one computer BUT they use a user account where I can sign in and instantly authorize the machine I am using to use the software. This though not a perfect option gives me the flexibility to work from either machine. Possible to implement this with AM?

[Solution: shorten filename] Has anyone else ever had an error dropping in a wave file into a project? I have several PC's I work on and everything is great when importing an audio file, but on one machine I get "trouble opening mci device error: 304" on this Windows 10 machine. The wave file imports, but there is no audio playback. I so I assume it's that machine and look to make sure all drivers are current and can't replicate the problem in any other app other than A:M. Hello Hashers- I am trying to simulate a time lapse building being constructed and it occurred to me that it might be useful to have a pose slider controlling the vertical axis transparency of the object so that the building appears to grow from the ground up...according to the sliders position. Rendering presents a wide category of interests but I'd like to discuss a few relative to what we have in A:M and what we can do as users to get the most out of that. While the discussion can certainly go far afield to include external rendering solutions the focus here is on what we can do with the internal renderer. How difficult would it be to make an AM app for Android and Mac iOS? I was thinking it could just the core program with a simplified rendering or realtime renderer using HAMR as opposed to rendering to files as full movies due to limited space on mobile devices. But have the file importable to the full AM product.

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but it seems as though SSS negates smoothing using "averaged normals" or Porcelain (same thing done as a material). Also, "average normals" and Porcelain appear to give slightly different results even though they should be the same. Anyone know how to get around this? Here are some examples (the names of the files denote the settings):

I've done this before and know that there is a specific place we have to look to set this but I forget. Perhaps someone can get me back on track. I have a faint recollection that this is best set immediately upon creation of the pose slider as well. The most basic example is the On/Off pose where the pose is set to On by default (which without setting is 'Not Set' by default) In the case of a percentage pose the example might be to set the default as 0 on a scale of -100 to 100. Particle Illusion is a nifty plugin for AE. I have the stand alone version. But you need to be able to track the motion. Steffen has an "Export" listed for that purpose.(PI-Motion) Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to get the data for a bone or null to track using the "PI-Motion" export. Is there a thread to learn how this is done?? Does the PI-Motion export work???

Trying to help a coworker struggling with getting transparency in 3DS. He saved out a model as an .obj, I brought it into v.16 and when I dropped it into a chor, I had live surface settings to mess with. this is pretty huge, don't know if this has been in there for awhile but it's great. Oddly, they're available only on the chor shortcut, not on the model itself.

Hats off to Steffen and Gerald (and to all that helped) for this feature! I'm not much of a modeler and I'm not a big fan of using props, but this is fantastic. This is the first time trying this and this is what I have after a couple of hours. The spline layout may not be the best, but it's a start. Still needs work, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

Hi there, currently i am again pursuing one of my favorit projects, which means I am working on an character. I am modelling the head at the moment, and i am quite happy with the outcome so far. Since I am going for a rather realistic look, the model got quite dense, but with the current hardware available thats no problem anymore. What is a problem, however, is that I have problems to get really smooth surfaces in regions where they are needed. That is cheeks, around the mouth, chin and such. A few weeks back I learnt about Multiple master in V17 and have used it extensively when rendering. Upgraded to V18 two weeks ago and went to use Multiple Master in it today but couldn't find it. MultipleMaster.scpt But no.app. My guess is that needs to be activated. I get a crash everytime - with fakeaoCPU with ver17 32bit (most recent release), even with a simple chor (1 sphere) Anyone else getting it to work? Is it just me? I've asked before but it was a bit uncertain as to how to procede. Trying to finish the boy and bear project I'm having trouble with the light penetrating the walls of the model. To try and get around it, the walls were double skinned and the materials, other than the door glass, set to 0 transparency. It occurs with Z buffered and ray traced lights.
