I was digging around the old hard drive and found an old DXF model of "AL". I had played with him before back in the version 8 days, but it was just too much work to remove all the extra splines that resulted from polygon models. Low and behold someone posted a link to "AccuTrans-3D" and I decided to save a quads copy of "AL" and import him and see how much work there was to do. Sure enough it made it bearable. So I've done some significant cleanup. Split his mouthline and given him an inside to his mouth, cleaned up the face, touched up the ears (A LOT) and completely merged his jacket with his biceps and forearms and his pelvis with his thighs and calves.…

I'm trying to decal a movie or image sequence onto a laptop screen and it's just misbehaving like crazy. I'm on v13q. I've done this before and though it took some trial and error I did get it to work. But that was a few years ago. I've tried a QT movie and I couldn't get it off the first frame. I'm trying a sequence of .tga files but I got an error message, though it seems to be behaving otherwise. Any help, or anyone pointing me to a help file or thread would be much appreciated! Gerry

Here's a spring I made and it's the first of a motorbike I'll be making. Sweeper will be used extensively. Emilio: Making the spring was automatic and I didn't see any "Dialogue Box". I couldn't find anything about it in the readme....How do I activate those options. Thanks again.

mickey's ears always face the camera so i made ears with hair image and had it always face camera....really rough but it seems to work worked better the first time but the QT file got corrupted and i had to redo project now ears seem to bend slightly but its late mouse.mov

Shaggy called me at work the other day, and told me that he was tired of being homeless, and asked me if I could help him get a house. So, being the caring guy I am, I decided to build him a house, nothing to fancy, and still needs work, cause all it has is a garage, and a living room. So, I was needing a little input on how to add the interior to this model. It is scaled at 22 feet high, about 40 or so feet wide, and the garage is about 30 feet deep or maybe shorter I cant remember. Anyways, just thought I would get some advice from fellow hashers. Bit of an odd project but doing some layouts for a crystal that is cut internally with a yag laser, basically 3d etching inside glass. Will have to translate the objects out to something they can use, most likely stl but atleast that is the easy part.

Just trying out an idea with a tree and leaves and trying to seee if the controls get saved. All but the last frame .. saved fine... the last frame highlights a leaf and I noticed that after saving and looking at the frame it shifted slightly but I did have a random factor checked in the sprite window so that would explain it. If Vern says its okay I'l posted the project since he inspired part of the leaf Tinkering Gnome moneytree.mov

Hey all, I just wanted to show you some of my screen shots from past animations and such, stuff I don't care to share, hehehehehe!! MOst of them are unfinished and undone. Some of this was done in A:M, and I do say some. But I'm currently focused on two movies!!! These screenshots are from movies that never were done, and trailers I was never happy with, but looking back I thought some of them were kind of cool. But now I'm focused on animating and such, doing a how to in A:M and gonna have fun all the way. So coming soon to a dvd near you is something like the below, it does have the below characters, but differant stories. Hope you like

Playing with Wegg's skin material and Yves' skin shader is giving pretty good results so far. This is with the standard chor lighting which I will play with next. The render times and memory usage is still a concern (52 minutes/frame) if I want to use this combination for an animation but it looks much better than my attempts at skin materials. Yes, I know, she has no hair. This is a skin experiment.

This question is for Sebastian Pfeiffer, winner of image contest: What lighting setup did you use for your image of the cartoon characters? Or possibly, are the characters shading in a particular way? or was just diffuse, ambient and specular colors used? I ask, because, I'm liking the way the characters come across in your image. I'm trying to achieve a look very similiar to what yours displays, but perhaps with a bit more specular or highlighted areas on my characters. Thanks in advance for any information. To admins: I wasn't sure where to post this sort of question, so if it needs to be moved, I'll understand. Thx

My mom gave me this stuffed alien along time ago I decided to draw it. I got two pics having problems with the mouth I thought about decaling it but not sure what to do shall I animate the mouth or decal the mouth, here a pic of the stuffed alien, also is there away that I can get that fuzzy look to it.

Fortunately I don't do this very often but decided to try lip sync and animating use the great model donated by Andy Gibbons about two hours of just having fun [attachmentid=10710] I know its small but the sound makes the file too large back to my normal tinkering singing.mov

I have both the rider, and the X-Machine [the drum-shaped object on a tether] Translated to, and Oriented Like, the Beast. I tried adding a Roll Like, but it did no good. There's gotta be a way. Edit: Apologies. I posted the wrong clip. [the rider is there, but turned off.] WALK_TEST_08.zip

Am trying to set stride length on the Wright Sprite. I can marquee the little yellow dot [it turns black in the center] but it won't move. I get the four-headed arrow cursor by touching it to the yellow dot, but it won't slide. Any thoughts?

With all the planets being done I decided to try one Did a quick cloud renderin PS adjusted the contrast made three layers and adjusted their transparency and added some color Got a nice decal and saved it to be use on a sphere oh and I have some glow on the model planet.mov orbtest.zip Project file includes decal

I decided to look at bvh files and got one and used shaggy in a very rough attempt to get the feel for using the bvh action. I only matched four points of shaggy to the file which you can see since i did it in shaded mode so it is not very good but you get the idea 653k bvh.mov

does anyone know of a good tutorial on using surface constraints. There is an expanation of how surface constraint are supposed to work in the AM help. I have looked at the explantion many times to see if I am missing anything and I still cant bring myself to experiment with the function. It is not clear in the example if the object I am constraining to a surface has any constrants on it too. Surface normals are mentioned but that is as far as it goes. It would be nice to make a chory action with a car driving over bump ground,

Hi all Just thought Id show you the amplifier I made for my virtual band.. any comments will be appreciated? I am struggling to get the knobs to show up, played around with the surfaces diffuse falloff and specular size but nothing seems to work they just look like black dots,,,, acually they are modeled knobs like on a real amp,, the power light seemed to come out nicely though,, Leo [attachmentid=18852][attachmentid=18854]

Hey gang, I've been slaving for quite a few months this year trying to get a animated short ready to go for a film festival and boy is it tough. Thanks to MIke fitz's tute on decal relationships I was able to figure out how to use a pose slider instead of a bone to drive the percetage relationship of the bump map.....Click here to see an example pretty cool stuff.......Thanks Mike
